321  Economy / Economics / Re: why do people agree to pay taxes? on: November 17, 2014, 05:38:06 AM
I bet the people belly aching about taxes are the people that barely pay any taxes.

The people who barely pay any taxes pay tens, hundreds of millions of dollars for lawyers, lobbyists, and bribes, so they do not have to fear death or imprisonment, and therefore no reason to "bellyache".
Not true. The people who pay little taxes are those who vote for more entitlements and make a huge deal about even tiny amounts of potential entitlement reform (meaning the democrats)
322  Economy / Economics / Re: Upcoming 25 Year Great Depression...!!! on: November 17, 2014, 05:36:24 AM
Our future financial obligations definitely present a major problem. Real national debt in the US is larger than the entire global economy. Painful choices will have to be made at some point but there are so many other factors in play. We are at the beginning of what will be one of the biggest oil booms in world history and that will definitely be a factor. Cheap energy is one of the fastest ways to grow an economy.

The debt issue is lurking for sure but it is not an imminent threat as the economic eschatologists would have us believe.
Most of the real debt is in the form of entitlement obligations and such obligations can easily be lowered via legislation. I would also argue that these obligations will not cause the kind of long term economic woes that the OP is claiming will happen to the US
323  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 70% TAX? Marijuana profits up in smoke under IRS rules... on: November 07, 2014, 02:33:37 AM

Say gross profit was $100, IRS-allowed expenses were $10, IRS-not-allowed expenses were $50.

IRS would compute tax based on $100-10 = 90.  If tax was 30%, $27 in tax.

Actual net profit was $100-10-50 = $40.

Less $27 in tax gives $13 to take home.

If the IRS had done it right, tax on the $40 * 30% = $12 and the take home would be $40-12 = $28.

So yeah, I agree with the total unfairness of this IRS interpretation.
Regardless of how unfair the tax treatment the marijuana tax laws are, it is still very profitable to sell marijuana legally as the margins are the shops are sky high
324  Economy / Lending / Re: Anybody who can give me a loan of 0.15 coins without collateral? on: November 07, 2014, 01:47:50 AM
Hello,

Looking urgently for 0,15BTC loan. Maybe there is anybody who can do that without collateral? Will pay back on monday 10.11.14 - 0.25BTC - maybe risky, but worth it.

Maybe it looks like scam, because I don't like writing scam-essays. Can provide everything EXCEPT collateral.

Looking forward to hear from anybody in minutes, it's urgent.

No, noone will lend to you without collateral with your account status. There is an option on the lower left hand corner to lock the thread
325  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Get 102% back when the next person sends. on: November 07, 2014, 01:46:50 AM
Please remove your feedback

Is there something wrong with my feedback? Why would I remove it?
Well technically speaking, I don' think the explanation as to why this is a ponzi is necessary in your feedback.
326  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IRS claims it has LOST two years' worth of emails from former official Lerner on: November 07, 2014, 01:29:10 AM

IRS Admits to Court it Hasn’t Searched for Missing Lerner Emails

Judicial Watch announced today that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) admitted to the court that it failed to search any of the IRS standard computer systems for the “missing” emails of Lois Lerner and other IRS officials. The admission appears in an IRS legal brief opposing the Judicial Watch request that a federal court judge allow discovery into how “lost and/or destroyed” IRS records relating to the targeting of conservative groups may be retrieved. The IRS is fighting Judicial Watch’s efforts to force testimony and document production about the IRS’ loss of records in Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) litigation about the IRS targeting of Tea Party and other opponents of President Obama(Judicial Watch v. IRS (No. 1:13-cv-1559)).  The lawsuit is before U.S. District Court Judge Emmett G. Sullivan. [...]

Judicial Watch lawyers reviewed the IRS court filings and concluded that the agency “did not undertake any significant efforts to obtain the emails.”

IRS attorneys conceded that they had failed to search the agency’s servers for missing emails because they decided that “the servers would not result in the recovery of any information.” They admitted they had failed to search the agency’s disaster recovery tapes because they had “no reason to believe that the tapes are a potential source of recovering” the missing emails.  And they conceded that they had not searched the government-wide back-up system because they had “no reason to believe such a system … even exists.”

There is not going to be any kind of accountability as long as the Obama administration is in charge. It will essentially prevent any kind of charges from being filed as it was likely behind the wrongdoing
327  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTB] Full member or senior member account on: November 07, 2014, 01:21:54 AM
With that much information you could easily discover the username of the account Tongue
I agree. I would say that the OP is almost certainly trying to discover which accounts are for sale
328  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Michael Brown shooting , what really happened?? on: November 07, 2014, 01:17:23 AM
There are a number of witnesses who say that brown was surrendering, however no video of this has turned up despite the likely-hood that a fight with a police officer would almost certainly be recorded by someone who would witness such a fight.

I agree with your first points, but this one... the fact that there's no video says nothing about the circumstances. If any conclusion were to be drawn from it, I would conclude that the only thing that means is there is no video. If someone had it, they would have sold it to a media organization for a pretty penny already.
Much of the media have policies against buying news stories like this so the number of buyers is limited to tabloid like outlets. Plus there is the possibility that people like Sharpton and Obama have purchased all copies of the videos so they can be destroyed
329  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Arrested for feeding homeless people on: November 07, 2014, 01:09:37 AM
This is really scary, they are basically saying you cannot help people that cannot survive on their own.

How do you know these people cannot survive on their own?  What if they are just lazy, like dank?  If a city has provided services to a person for a couple years and they are able to work but unwilling, why should the city keep paying for those services?
I agree 100%. If you continue to feed the homeless then they will have no incentive to improve their lives and get a job, ect.

I think the rational behind the law is actually due to health code concerns though
330  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anyone following the ebola outbreak? on: November 07, 2014, 01:05:33 AM
Just read the same thing about Obama pressuring the news media not to report on Ebola.  Although this could help stop a unwarranted panic, it will also cloud the public from the true facts of the possibility of a severe outbreak.

You can't believe everything you read online. Especially as of recently, there are a high number of "news outlets" that are.....less then credible....infowars being one of them
331  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Republicans take the Senate on: November 07, 2014, 12:51:58 AM
Bets on the first war to be waged?

I say...at least 30,000 troops back in Iraq by summer.

Total countries attacked...at least 10 by 2016.
Congress actually has zero control over the military. The closest thing they have to control is to cutoff the military's budget (or to shrink it) however this would only bring the troops home, not deploy them overseas
332  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The American president's addiction to king-like power must end on: November 07, 2014, 12:48:17 AM
YES! Down with the kenyan muslim arabic terrorist president who isn't American!
I can't help but wonder about his legacy, after his 8 years he's out, can we then find out some of the background mystery data?

Kind of like cans of SPAM.  You always wonder, what is that mystery meat?

The Media sent people to check w bush's college scores out, to compare them with kerry's... then silence. He had a higher score than kerry's. That is why they kept quiet.

The weirdest thing is it is impossible to do the same thing now as all of 0bama's school papers from colombia and harvard are sealed. What was he thinking? Was he an exceptional student? The first US black president and none of the media wanted to know. At least for his presidential library? It is as if no one cares.

The dude was doing cocaine while in new york back in the days, according to his own biography. Cocaine back then was not a cheap drug like crack. From whom was he getting all that money from? Colombia and harvard are not cheap.

Time to put my tinfoil hat back on. I will still wonder though.

I know that he had a lot of student loans so the tuition was probably paid for with debt.

I would suspect that there are allegations against him during his time at columbia. It could be either an assault or him cheating but it is almost certainly much worse then just bad grades
333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dear Would Be Drug Marketplace Operators on: November 07, 2014, 12:32:43 AM
Actually they caught this guy by becoming apart of the site's support staff, so it had nothing to do with computers or anything it was really old fashion cop work. Go undercover and becoming one of them.

Social engineering at it's best.
Well apparently the ownership/control of SR did actually transfer in December. It is apparently not known who created/started SR2.

While putting on my tinfoil hat, I would speculate that SR2 was created by law enforcement as a way to entrap people running the site and law enforcement would have made up a good portion of the support staff

It has been reported that this Defcon is not the first Defcon. It is the fifth one. So, those who actually created and launched the site on November 6, 2013 are probably not caught as of yet.
Do you have a link/source to defcon being the 5th one? I would somewhat doubt that. The complaint does not mention anything about there being more then one defcon.

Source: https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/silk-road-2-0-users-defcon-5-as-related-arrests-continue-around-world/

Check the last sentence of the article...

Quote
The fall of Silk Road 2.0 was expected: This is Defcon 5, not Defcon 1.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEFCON

Read the above wiki. "defcon" is a measure of "preparedness" of the military with 5 being the least prepared and 1 being the most prepared

I would still go. If BTC hits $10K, I will seriously think about buying a ticket.

Won't happen if Branson gets his wish of bitcoin being regulated (economic liberty infringed) and taxed (destroyed) - into oblivion. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=845681.0

Well, bitcoin IS regulated and IS taxable now. There is no such thing as tax free gains in the U.S. And I don't even know what tax you mean. Sir Richard is a British subject not a US citizen.
He was doing business in the US, which makes his company liable for any profits realized in the United States
335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Obama’s credit card denied at restaurant on: October 28, 2014, 10:30:18 PM
I wonder what would happen if:

- Obama was not the president, but a random unknown regular black guy that just had a solid dinner at an upscale restaurant and had his cc rejected after finishing it all? Would the cops've been called on him?
No. If you read the entire article you would know that his wife used her credit card to pay for the meal. I am also fairly certain that this incident did not happen while Obama was president (although I am not 100% sure on this - the article does not give a timeline)
336  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cheap electricity for mining Bitcoin on: October 22, 2014, 02:01:53 AM
0.2? Is it really cheap? I get electricity for 0.1$/kWh

0.1$ isn't cheap either, not going to make any profit...
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing 1000 dollars in... on: October 22, 2014, 02:00:50 AM
I'm not looking for opinions on a ton of different alts. I have 1k to spend in alt coins and I decided I will either go with Pandacoin or Dogecoin. Please don't tell me to buy BTC as I am a early investor and have all I want. what coin out of these two would you choose. I AM prepared to lose this money so if either of these coins fail it wont bother me and I am planing on holding them for years. Help me gamble guys!  Grin

Since you already have lots of bitcoin, why not just use some bitcoin and convert it to alt-coin. But anyway darkcoin is the best!!

You won't gain anything significant, but you won't lose your pants on any mining costs.

Plus you get to say you're Bitcoin mining!  Makes a nice desktop ornament and conversation piece as well.

I hate small asic, it makes it hard to stack and occupy a lot of space.
340  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where can I rent rigs? on: October 22, 2014, 01:58:42 AM
I just go to ebay and start messaging people with power.

Make the deal outside of ebay.

Too troublesome, might as well use nicehash and set a low entry point..
