321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralization? Yeah, right. Bitcoin is not even decentralized. on: February 07, 2016, 12:41:02 PM
because they know if people move over to "liquid" then the demand for bitcoin would die.

Liquid is just another alt.  And unlike most alts, it is a fucking piece of shit alt that won't work.  And they like to say that Bip101 is an alt.  Hahahahahaha

Ah, you missed the greatest nugget of comedy gold with Liquid - it relies on Federated servers.. 'Federated' as in 'trusted'. And they claim that a 2Mb bump will lead to centralization? Irony, much?

Can they really think so little of Bitcoin users that they can pass bullshit like this and not expect it to be challenged?

Isn't Liquid a sidechain for corporate types? Who cares what it looks like? Am I wrong??
'Liquid' is a scheme whereby Blockstream (vis-à-vis Maxwell) severely encumbers the blockchain capacity with 1MB blocks - so you will have to buy access to their little private sideschains.

324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto is 100% a US/UK government agency collaboration on: February 05, 2016, 08:39:34 AM
i to am from the UK and i feel that satoshi was british due to the style of writing. the only reason why we write american style on forums and facebook etc is because of that annoying red spellcheck line that appears under british words, so we tend to right click and accept the closest relevant spelling just to get rid of it.
its as simple as that. annoying web browser spell checks

How about if you stupid fuckers from the UK learn to spell shit right instead of complaining about defective browsers?  WTF?  Blaming your stupid shit on Yanks?  You are lucky the Yanks even let you near their computers.
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / From here on, Blockstream is your Daddy on: February 05, 2016, 08:33:59 AM
$55 million buys a shit-ton of influence.  From here, Blocksteam is everyone's new Daddy.  They now own the blockchain and you will never get it back.  Their Liquid and sidechains are made to look 'free' and 'public' but many more aspects of what they do are designed to cause you to pay tax on their system.

Long live 1MB blocks.  We just handed Bitcoin over to PwC.
326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Finally, Bitcoin Core = REKT on: January 29, 2016, 02:56:16 PM
Looks like those assholes at Blockstream are losing finally.  Looks like their 1MB block limit crippling of the blockchain so we all need to buy their Lightning Network isn't working out.  I knew people would finally jump over their very dumb arguments that 2MB would lead to centralization.

I am not in favor of a private entity owning a group of core programmers who take a position to make valuable the offerings of that private entity.  That just reeks of improper.  Good riddance Blockstream.  Looks like the new kid on the block is Bitcoin Classic!!!

327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Official Mastercoin Foundation, Master Protocol & Mastercoin Thread on: January 28, 2016, 11:45:30 AM
Ross explains what went wrong with mastercoin:
http://ripper234.com/p/so-whats-up/

Ron and JR made a lot of huge mistakes, none of which are mentioned in Ron's pitiful blog post.

Oh poor Ron, he has a mental disorder, it excuses everything.
Ron doesn't seek any excuse.  He merely sets forth some things that occurred in his life.  He doesn't need any understanding from you.

The poor guy openly admits he fucked up every startup he tried, that he junked up his marriage, and he wants to kill himself sometimes.  Give him a break.  I didn't like the guy, but I sure don't feel a need to beat him down after that grand admission.

Mastercoin was 100% fucked long before Ron arrived on the scene.  'Open source' is a disaster.  The same disorganization now exists with bitcoin re block size.  With no CEO to choose a path, no path will be taken.  Satoshi's dream that miners would 'vote' to reach a concensus - is just not a workable scheme.  So, we have a fork and real threat to the whole thing.  Decentralization is a bit tricky.  Ron didn't cause this.

When Mastercoin paid Micheal Terpin's PR company $6K/mo for three months, it was quite clear the project would burn up everything before doing anything.  Terpin claims to have placed one story (in Forbes - not even the real Forbes, but a website which borrows the Forbes name).  That kind of waste consumed all Mastercoin funds before they could get a legit platform running.

Ironically, they are pretty close today to having an interesting system.

328  Economy / Exchanges / Re: itBit and Xapo on: January 21, 2016, 05:24:36 PM
Does anyone use these exchanges? They require your social security number for account verification.

Everyone seems to be using coinbase, but just wondering if anyone has a review on either of the above. If this is in the wrong forum please advise.

Don't use Xapo.  Their CEO just left and went to PayPal.  Xapo will close soon and keep all your money.  Scam alert!
329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shift - Bitcoin Visa Card - now available in the US on: December 21, 2015, 03:48:24 AM
Well, I got my Shift card today, tied to Coinbase for BTC.  Activated and ready to go. What should I try and buy first? Kind of excited to try it out and see how it works.
Buy a cup of coffee on Starbucks! Grin

Is that it?  That's the end of this discussion?  No more news about Shift Visa card?  Two weeks passed and no body cares any longer about having a debit card tied to their bitcoin at coinbase.  Wow, I thought this would be more exciting.

Maybe someone has actually used one and has a story or two to tell?
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to store an extremely high amount of money in Bitcoin safely ? on: December 20, 2015, 03:59:25 PM
It seems to be way more secure than an ordinary Cold Storage as my private key and everything would be stored in a safety deposit box which you must have to be able sending funds out from the wallet. So basically, without that box you can do nothing to the coins being inside my wallet.

This is completely silly.  It shows you don't understand security at all.  With this, all you've done is reduce the remarkable security of a private key down to a stupid physical hunk of metal key (the unsafe deposit box).  Obviously, you think a deposit box is high security - when in fact it is very low security.  Now you propose putting your key behind that terrible system.  Wow!  That is the same as taking your SLR and putting Toyota body panels all over it.  Not smart.

Only the Blockchain CEO
Actually, the Blockchain CEO has assigned powers to various people who also can stop transactions.  But they almost never do because it is viewed as 'improper' and somewhat annoying.  Nevertheless, if they had a good reason, they could stop them as they like.
333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So...bitcoin is now a national currency on: December 14, 2015, 07:26:30 PM
This is awesome news, is this the reason why bitcoin price has been increased a bit these days?

Good lord, ROFL
A pretty fair portion of our bitcoin community is so fucking dumb - it hurts.  I am starting to think something like 90% are complete imbeciles
334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So...bitcoin is now a national currency on: December 14, 2015, 04:21:28 PM
This is good to hear that bitcoins is a National Currency.

Well, this place 'Atlantis' is not actually a nation.  They hope they can organize a nation.  It might turn out to be a bit harder than they imagine.  But hey, everyone has fantasies.
335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we trade Bitcoin if internet goes down? on: December 14, 2015, 03:59:58 PM
If the Internet goes down, the Amish community will be the only ones going about life as usual  Wink perhaps trading bitcoins using paper wallets?

This would be possible if the miners continue running and part of the population still has an Internet connection. Without internet you need another network. Without a network you can do mining on paper and keep a printed copy of the blockchain, but transaction time would be very slow  Cheesy
Actually, the transaction time would still be 10 minutes.  Difficulty will be adjusted down.  It's always 10 minutes by definition.
336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the Future of Bitcoin Lies in Europe on: December 14, 2015, 12:38:26 AM
No, no. You guys have it all wrong. The future of Bitcoin depends on intergalactic space travel and bringing the blockchain to emerging alien civilizations.
Using a new shiny blue laser I just bought, I already transmitted a copy of the blockchain to millions of alien civilizations.  No need for travel.
337  Other / Off-topic / Re: If You Won A Million Dollars.. How Much Bitcoin Would You Buy? on: December 14, 2015, 12:19:32 AM
I would spend 50% for buy some Bitcoin for investment, and the other 50% for having fun.
Why would you only want half of your money to double?  Buy all 1M in bitcoin, let it double -0 and then really have some fun.  You'll still have a 1M and you'll also have a 1M in fun!!  wtf?  Is this a trick question?
338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A flaw in bitcoin, if it became widely adopted 21m bitcoins, 7b people on planet on: December 02, 2015, 08:42:35 PM
2,099,999,997,690,000... an insane number.

The OP didn't have a math teacher that explored the concept of 'infinitely divisible".  While not infinite, bitcoin is pretty damn close.  This is a major non-issue.

Unless its just how my mind works.
It's almost as if your mind doesn't actually work.  Maybe: 'sort-of lays around' is more like it.
