..and while you big boys throw around your bits - I'm one idiot sitting here with a 0.02 BTC balance hoping my BFL Monarch 600GH/s will arrive in time just to make 1 or 2 BTC.. Which probably won't happen.. Yes - buying BTC directly is probably the best way now..

Hi !
What is going on with coinium ?
My miner disconnects all the time and the site is down...
Reminds me the very first day of Dogecoin when I lost a LOT of mining time and coins sticking with one pool ....
Website is offline The server may be down for maintenance, there may be a network problem, or the site may be experiencing excessive load. not sure what you guys are doing wrong - I can log in and out and in at leisure - no problem at all

Assume you have 1000kHash of digging power; with that you could mine at the current difficulty level approx. 30,000 DOGE a day pffttt 30,000 a day.. I've solomined for days with 1Mh/s with 0 coins - sooooo You are better off buying a lottery ticket than solo mine with 1Mhs @ 300+ difficulty. you yourself brought that article from reddit - so don't lecture - I was referring to that example

I decide to make my own currency by printing 10mill notes with a nice logo on them. I build a tank with holes the size of tubes on vacuum-cleaners. I keep 2 mill for myself. Put 8 mill in the tank and seal it. I tell you guys - 100,000 miners - to come get the notes. You buy vacuum-cleaners and start sucking. The stronger ones will probably get more notes than the weaker ones due to their strength. All notes are 'mined'. We all sit back and start buying selling them to each other. Maybe some friends also buy some - with real money. But in the end everyone realize that it will all come to a halt.
As long as you and the rest of the population are not paid in a new currency, and you cannot use them to pay your recurring bills, clothes, shoes, groceries, doctor, insurance etc. etc., it is worth nothing in terms of 'real'
Am I describing it too simple? I just think we should stop and think a bit. Do we want the virtual currencies to be the new share/stock/investment or do we want them to be currencies to all. Or can they be both? But then everyone need equal possibility to get/earn them. Not just clever miners or early investors.
I find it very diffuse right now.

problem is BitPay is not doing business in SXC - only BTC and paper-currencies

The value of all the virtual coins - how is it there and who decide it?
Are those prices mainly decided by us the miners - who are selling and buying them between us on a handful of virtual exchanges? How many people who do not know anything about mining are involved in the price-setting?
How many people are mining - 1,000, 100,000..? We have our own little world where we ourselves adjust the price up and down on all those currencies - by buying and selling between us. I might be wrong?
If the virtual currencies are not being made easy obtainable to everyone, they will all just be artificial values - not real value.

Why is random better? I can see that people are reading and posting because it is an X2 or X5. So i guess that is free advertisement.
Exactly. That's the real value in the x2/x5 thing, IMO. Gets more people involved. I have to say, I've been really impressed with EAC so far. It has a top notch name/concept, brand-wise, it looks amazing the dev team seems to have a distinct plan, and the community is growing at a natural, organic pace (rather than at an insane rate like some newer alts). I really think this one will be around when the dust settles. I understand your reasoning - yes then it becomes more popular and more people will mine it - BUT - that is just miners - a closed circle of people on the planet so to speak.. The real strength of EAC - or any coin for that matter - is (as you also touch) the 'public face' of the coin: How can people, who have no idea of mining, get to know of, get hold of the coin and use it? In an easy and convenient manner that is.. The coin which can achieve this will be the big winner.

random is better because: - now the x2 rewards does not give the constant miner any more coins than normal due to the higher extra power on the net - and diff rise.. - with a random reward you will have only those who are mining constantly - every day - getting extra coins - because hashrate would be fairly constant and diff as well

would have been better to make the x2 and x5 random blocks like with a few other coins

it will end on 1 - and stay there - the end ..but I may be pushing it..

Happy New Year - and may it be a sexy one as well.. Please pair SXC with BTC on your exchange.. Cheers

Howdy BigVern and BitJohn, I would like to see SXC paired with BTC on you exchange. Happy New Year Cheers

Still waiting to hear why so many rejects on solo mining. Diverted 40,000 Kh/s from my 100,000 kh/s to the network, and my rejected rate is out of the ballpark. I know it's not my setup, so are there any updated nodes to add? I'll give it another couple hours then I'm writing off mining EAC. Glad I didn't divert my entire 100,000...
ok I can't match your solo hashrate - but I can tell you that I don't have any rejects - and I don't even use any nodes in my conf file..

do I need to do the walletpassphrase thinghy to unlock the wallet for solo mining EAC with cgminer..? when I do the command it pops a -1 error..

@skywave I'm aware of the issue, need to reset the cookies. It is in my todo list already. Actually I tried once but caused problems for our users, so I have to first make sure it's a clean transition for everyone. You know when someone can't access the site or something happens cause of a configuration change - they start naming & scheming us and the pool in a second lol alright i'll wait for that - it's not that important though - just a small detail.. site is running smooth that's what counts..

No you dont understand..... Miners in Australia get shown that the 2x day is in 20 minutes from now on... in Germany 11 Hours... Maybe some miners want to throw in some extra hashes at the right time. Does that matter? It doesnt matter where you are, the thing starts at the same moment for everybody. So wheter you 're in Samoa or Greenland, it's all the same waitingperiod.
yeah, the countdown is useless unless the guy making it adjusts it so all miners worldwide get the same hours/time shown... for me in EU it is 9h, but I know that EAC started at 5 am or so, since I started solo mining right at the first minute (but I was very tured, so I might be off on an hour or so) I'd be interested in: does EAC use the US date or a real xxx days after launch calculated by using it's exact launch hour? Its based on the unix timestamp. The first mined block was December 21 at 1am or so. 1387588200 or so in unix (these are rough, not exact). add 14 days to that adn you get 1388797800. Convert that to your local time zone and your set! Or just use this site... http://eac.coinpoint.org/ Time is the same for everyone... I don't understand what you mean? not only is time not the same for everyone is the measured sense (aka its 9:39 where I am and 10:09 2 provinces over) While we are both experiencing the time simultaneously the measurement of said time is different depending on where you are. Then of course theres relativity, but I'm guessing thats not what you were talking about. Are you guys trolling me right now? I meant the time that it starts its 2x payout is the same for everyone....when that timer hits 0 it will be 2x payout. Of course it is not the same time it is in Vegas that it is in Italy. you also don't get it: that counter is counting down on everyone's local computer - it must be referenced to a fixed timezone to be clearly stated
