Sinner - Alcaraz was the major call, maybe with a little difference on who ends up with the trophy

Yep, when we were writing questions we all agreed that 90% will go with Sinner/Alcaraz combo, but we wanted to see who you'd give advantage to.
Sometimes it happens with tennis questions yeah - they are by far the hardest ones to write properly.

In other news, 4 NBA clashes are now with 3-2 scores so '0' looks like an unlikely outcome. I have 1, looking at the matchups it is possible but I have a feeling that 2 or more is the winner here.

Well, I have to admit that I was sure PSG was winning yesterday. This was one of my safest picks in recent memory, luckily for me I had some freebets so I threw them all on PSG handicap win.
Otherwise I would have lost some serious money on this.

PSG played really well in the QF's but disappointed yesterday, I still feel like they are huge favorites to go through. Borussia might regret not scoring another goal.

Just to add - I really like the Schlotterbeck guy. Has the potential to be a top class CB.

I knew I should have gone Rublev. Goddamn top seeds.

If Alcaraz lost, I would have gone with Cerundolo. Rublev ain't there yet Grin
Why did Sinner withdraw? I kinda hoped he'd give me a point here.

Tennis being tennis though - and Madrid is as unpredictable as they come.

Kim Min's move was not particularly sensible; he had all the time in the world to cover and prevent the ball from reaching Rodrigo's strong foot, but he chose to be nasty instead. He knows too well that Real Madrid players are always fragile in the box and fall at any chances, especially when they are losing...

For me he's more at fault for the 1st goal. Sure, Kimmich and Dier should have covered better and nobody should ever give a player like Kroos so much time on the ball to pick a pass, but Vinicius dragged him out too easily.

I was actually impressed with Bayern - they played a really good game. A few blips against Real are more than enough to hurt you.
I would never give that penalty for Bayern though. It's such a small contact, Musiala made the most of it. This one is not a VAR call though, referee was 2m away so he saw it cleanly.

I guess we could have decided to call for leniency in some certain scenario and for unhabitual people, but then that would cause a whole new level of fiasco and controversies from those who have partially made it a habit.

We can't, whenever there is not a strict rule in place at some point it becomes unfair towards somebody.
You can't even say 'one 1h late submission per member will be tolerated' because it will be abused at some point - perfect example is the tennis question yesterday. Everybody would wait for Alcaraz to finish and be 'accidentally late' in that round.

It's unfortunate when active players like jeremypwr or cls63 fail to submit, but it's still a really rare occasion. I think it's jeremy's 1st miss, and cls has one per season so he'll probably learn now not to enjoy the countryside too much in the future Grin

The round hasn't started the best way for me, but considering the difference in our answers I'm optimistic about the end result.

First points are in the bag, the battle for 1st place will be settled tomorrow. The hunt is on Cool

Would be hillarious to catch Hhampuz tomorrow and then finish 5th overall after the final game finishes 0-0 Grin

Real has a 1000 lives, but it isn't coincidental. It's been like this for far too long - they are ruthless in important games.

@buwaytress where did the round 10 picks go?

It's empty for me - and considering it's the last round with 1 game already on the way would be good to have it visible before it settles.
If it won't be, I'll let you all know what I picked in an hour and a half Grin

Do you mean that you paid for extra transfers? I would like to clarify, are they deducted from the total number of points scored or from the points you score in the current round? I, too, have already started hunting only for the yellow cap and will also act in the same way  Wink In the previous rounds, I acted modestly (in terms of transfers) since I had a wild card, plus I thought that the Liverpool players would show themselves at least at the second or third try, but it looks like we need to get rid of them completely.

Yeah, I changed my whole team. Made no sense to hunt top 10, doesn't mean a thing. I can still win a few mBTC if things go my way in GW37 - although it isn't likely.
The points are deducted from total, in current GW - meaning that if you hunt a prize in GW37 you need to do changes now so you lose points in GW36.

What's stoping Newcastle united from scoring 5+ goals against Brighton and Manchester united weak defense? If I were in your situation I would look more towards Newcastle assets for the DGW. Still in my drafts

Breaking the 155 points without any chips? Not possible at this stage.

I have Newcastle players as well - and have the bench boost chip.

Damn, had to submit Alcaraz. It's 3-3 in TB against Struff, I have a feeling Carlos might lose this.

Just look at the submission times for most of us. All eyes on it hahah.

EDIT: Alcaraz is through at the end - I'm gonna check who gambled otherwise. Not many I suppose.

Finally submitted my picks, had to carefully calculate the points to have a theoretical chance of catching HH if he slips.
Otherwise I would have gone with 10 points on a bet I consider really safe, I'm sure CLS will go with that one and catch me if I don't win any points.

Playing it safe would have been the smarter move here, but the difference in the rewards isn't that big and I want to be the winner of the first edition of such competition.

Curious to see the picks, both from CLS and HH.

I did my -36 in preparation for GW37. The only thing left to play for, but Renato's 155 points will be really hard to surpass.

I don't like the double fixtures of most of the teams in this DGW so I don't expect any miracles. The only team with easy DGW is Chelsea.
333  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: April 30, 2024, 08:37:41 AM
Uvek mozes pisati postove u onim threadovima evropskih liga, to bar nije tesko.

If I remember correctly, the questions for the cup competition have not been published yet. I looked to see if I missed it but I couldn't find it, are you sure?
Round 8 was published and I should have sent the answers within 2-3 hours after it was published. If I missed the cup questions, I would like to answer them quickly

Nope, Cup will get a separate week - it is never combined with the league round.
As always, the questions will be posted on Sunday, with Tuesday as the submission deadline.

Still not sure what answers to choose, I can't find an edge in any of the questions. My form has really been shit, I need a win ASAP.

Nah, don't worry - we won't have questions about BSFL in BSFL.
Well - maybe later, when we go global and have 20 million players and fans screaming outside of our windows.

We'll see what we can do about betting though. We usually reserve it for the Cup Finals but Hhampuz - buwaytress is a duel worth betting on.

Rafa announced he is going to play doubles together with Carlos Alcaraz at the Olympics in Paris this summer. Very interesting decision, I wonder who initiated this: Rafa or the Spanish tennis federation? Rafa is known to be an average doubles player with rather poor performance at the net. Spain, on the other hand, have one of the longest rosters in sport and can choose from at least a dozen of top level players. What do you think? Is Rafa the right candidate?

To be honest, I would not pick him or let him play if it was anywhere else. He's out of form, is always an injury risk and there are better options available.
He's won gold in both singles and doubles category and I'd give the chance to somebody else.

However, considering that it's being held in Paris he deserves the chance. I hope they win it.

Sorry for the double post but if I edit the previous one, you won't get tagged. Anyway..

The questions for Round 8 are here!

The deadline is Tuesday April 30th, 17:00 GMT.

F1 is back, Madrid Open remains and we have some NBA action as well to add to the regular football stuff.
