Thank you very much! I'm compiling now the bonuscoind and I assume it's going to fail at close to 98% and will give me the error message on the missing files/folders. Thank you. Is there a risk here that someone might grab the missing files/folders from another coin source and successfully build the coindaemon?

No problem. No there really is no risk. The missing files aren't standard between coins. Even if someone was able to some how rewrite all the code (which they couldn't do anyway), the seed node will not be live until launch time anyway. So, even if it compiled fully, if they started mining they'd be on a fork and none of their coins would count anyway. This was just an attempt to do something a little different with a launch that increases fairness. There is always a risk in attempting something new. But I figure each coin ought to try something new and hopefully other launches will follow suit.  |

Ok, this is for all you linux guys and pool operators that are going to pull the GitHub files. This should assist you in a speedier release if you want to do it. Windows and Mac will just need the wallets and the password we'll release at launch time. But, here goes. At launch time full GitHub source will be released, but the idea here it to allow anyone with a slower compile time to help speed them up pre-launch. If your not absolutely sure what we're describing below, I'd suggest simply waiting until fully released and compiling the way you've done in the past. [WARNING: This is only for people who understand git, how to compile coins, etc. This is not for beginners or the faint of heart!We heard from a few people, and pool operators, that getting the source early would assist them. We also know that it'll be late in Europe, so for anyone waking up, this should let you get back to sleep quicker. We can't release the full source, for reasons previously stated, but our developers got together and decided that we could release "most" of it early minus a few critical files. This should allow people to pre-compile a good portion of the source, and cut down on the compilation time required. At launch time this evening, we'll post the missing files. We aren't aware of any other coins doing this, so this very well may be a first -- and something we hope to see in the future. We're entirely in favor of fair launches, and we do believe a fair launch should include those who may not have the worlds fastest machines, limited bandwidth, etc. So to that end, about 98% of the source has been posted to: http://github.com/bonuscoin/bonuscoin - NOTE full release files will NOT be there until launch time.Anyone with enough knowledge is welcome to clone the source and start partial compilation now. The code will compile up to the point where it requires one of the missing files and stop. So when errors get thrown out -- don't freak out -- it's supposed to break. At launch time, anyone who has chosen to use this method will need to pull the missing files to their clone and finish the build. The exact amount of time this will save will vary depending on your setups, but it should shave down the time some. When we said we wanted your feedback and we're listening to it, we meant it. Keep it coming! Launch in ~3 hours! |

I may not understand this correctly, but from what I've pieced together about cryptocurrencies, wouldn't an early release possibly cause a lot of forks that would need to be resolved? I won't pretend that I understand forks with any detail, but if I was mining my own chain with my ANT miner and you were mining with your miner, when the launch occurred wouldn't there be two (or more) chains that would need to merge into a single chain?
Yes, that's possible. But, we won't let it happen. There are many reasons, but the main point now is simply to get a fair launch. No one can get the wallet until it is released fully to everyone. And we're going to make this as fair as we can. We want a solid launch. Just about 4 hours to go! |

Just curious... why can't we have access to the wallet yet? That way I could set up my payout address.

Something to do with the coin not being launched yet. But what does is hurt to have you wallet? The wallet can connect to the seed node and allow for mining. So, if you have the wallet (which is the daemon for the miner) you can begin mining as well. So, wallets are locked until release time. You can download the zip and we'll simply post the password to them at release time. Didn't want everyone wasting their time downloading at the last minute. Also, I think it's also more fair this way as anyone with any connection speed can be ready at launch waiting for the Password to be posted to the main page. |

Sorry if I came over badly with my previous postings. I hope I didn't put anyone off.
Credit where credit is due - wallets downloaded before is a good move, and more launches should be done that way.
No sweat. I have no problem defending our work. Can't grow without any criticism. Hopefully you'll give us a shot and hopefully we'll impress. |

@bonuscoin: Hi! I'm wondering if stratum address of pool bonus.minerspool.net at GETTING STARTED GUIDE is correct? There is stratum+tcp://minerspool.net:3334 and shouldn't it be like stratum+tcp://bonus.minerspool.net:3334 ? I just want to be sure and ready for the start Best wishes! Don't think it should matter. Just checked bonus.minerspool.net and minerspool.net both pass to the same backend ip. So, either should work as the stratum just watches for traffic to that port, though I'd just go with whats posted on the Getting Started Guide. |

Be sure to check the thread, I'll be posting up the downloads in a bit. The passwords won't be released until tonight, but the files will be available for download so bandwidth won't be an issue for anyone.

Will the dev provide wallet with password before launch? (at least a hour early for enough download time)
Yes, we have all the wallets zipped and will be posting the download links up tomorrow during the day so you'll have them on your computer prior to launch. The password for those zips will be provided at launch time as will the GitHub source link. |

Can you please add .conf file with correct name and RPCPORTS?
Adding nodes would be nice.
The way the code is written for launch you really don't need them in the bonus.conf file. The ports are defined inside the code. However I've added them to the bonus.conf file on the main thread if you want them defined in the bonus.conf file. Will work either way. And the seed node for launch is also included inside the wallet, so you won't need the either. You can always add more after launch inside the conf, but for launch you won't need them. |

Oh, yes, and another thing - you don't seem to know what the coin is called - is it 'BonusCoin' or 'Bonuscoin' or 'Bonus coin'?
And the number '10,000,00' isn't one I've met before...
If you want to be taken seriously all these points should be dealt with before going public. Did you get anything proof-read? Code checked by a white-hat?
Thanks for pointing out that I missed a 0, I corrected it. While it's somewhat meaningless, I can appreciate that you took the time to study the coin in such detail. I try to be thorough, but as much as I like to think I'm infallible, yep, I do make a mistake from time to time. (Granted it's few and far between ) That said, I'm surprised that you spent so much time looking at BonusCoin in detail, decided against joining us, and yet spent another 10 mins writing your opinion. I'm kind of hoping you're really as excited about it as we are and are just trying to convince others with bigger rigs than yours to not mine so you get more coins. That I could actually appreciate, it would be a pretty smart strategy! Anyway, as to your other post about the OSX client, as I said before I would post a screenshot. We have devs in multiple timezones, so I was just waiting on one of them to deliver me the screenshot. I wasn't waiting on them to finish the client as you assumed. So, here's the OSX client (Works in OSX 10.9+) - also posted on the main page.  As for marketing and promotion, I'm sure you can guess that we didn't spend all this time developing a coin to just let it sit. But then again, I wouldn't want to write all the details as I might misspell something. LOL Hopefully, you'll change your mind and join us. If not, I learned long ago, you can't please everyone. |
