321  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful where you connect your wallet on: April 03, 2024, 11:22:33 PM
what crazy person puts millions of dollars in a hot wallet and connects to a third party lol. It's very unfortunate that incidents like this keep happening, in fact they are not newbies and should really understand that hot wallets are very vulnerable to being hacked, this is plus they are connected to third parties. Turns out there are also millionaires who are stupid. condolences to him.
What made you think that the person that made the mistake isn't a newbie? Is it because of the amount involved. Even newbies could be so much rich. One thing about cryptocurrency is that if you are not careful enough, you could make some mistakes that are laughable. He might have thought of the stress of moving it to cold wallet or has been procrastinating. But where I blame him completely is connecting the wallet with such capital to random websites. Sometimes people who has enough don't value it while some look for little.
Basically, this kind people are always not new to crypto but there are truly newbies to how it works technically. One can be in the space for so long and not have a good knowledge of how to protect him or her self from attacks of this nature. It's always sweet when one is a member of this kind of community having gotten the right knowledge on how to protect themselves their wealths are likely to grow because of the basic knowledge that they will gather here.

So considering the fact that this guy in question lost this amount of money, it could be a result of lack of knowledge, you can believe with me that most influencers do not really have the so called bitcoin or crypto knowledge but can have them in their custody because they must have heard of the information at a very beginning stage hence just wager in some cash but at the point where it's required to protect the wallet the may not know those parts and hence being prone to hacks and/or drains.
322  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your next step if you experience a Great BEAR MARKET ? on: April 03, 2024, 10:31:17 PM
Firstly I have to agree with pooya87 that is 100% correct, so building on what he have said yiu will have to consider some certain things before investing in bitcoin and when this category of things have been well thought of you will not longer worry when things move the opposite way.

Perhaps when one wants to invest in bitcoin and/or altcoins one must first know the volatility of bitcoin hence be prepared to receive either profit or loss in the crypto space. For the situation you have at hand it's best to cut loses if only your interested in short term investment but if it's about long term investment then you could leave it there believing that bitcoin is good enough to return your profit after some time.
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BGB hits another ATH, despite the crypto downtrend.. on: April 03, 2024, 03:27:38 PM
Just as @DeathAngel said, it could be a good native token to hold tight. It's unusual to see tokens resist the downward trends of the market, and ifany coin or token is on that platter, then I think it's worth it to invest a little bit of money without remorse into it because if it ends up profiting, then it will be a good one for the investors.

And if you're lucky enough to have bought when the token was still less than a cent, then you must be in profit now, and perhaps I will say enjoy the profit for now, and don't sell out every one of your holdings because it might still do more than this there by reaching another ATH.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MuskyDoge hidden gem? on: April 03, 2024, 03:18:18 PM
If one has experience in the crypto space, he or she will know that this is just one of the scam and/or shitty tokens or coin that are looking for investors to drain. After some good number of purchases and hype the token will disappear from the space leaving the investors and holders in great regret.

I'm even convinced that this just a promoter of the shitcoin, or maybe there are seeking attention fron the forum as a big traffic ground but i guess it's intentions are already known here.
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Memecoin expansion, now set to hold a live conference.. on: April 03, 2024, 03:09:07 PM
For people like you who are optimistic about memecoins, it could sound like a game-change conference, but for someone like me who does not do shitcoins (memecoins), it's neither good nor  bad news, but I'm certainly not going to engage, not even in the discussion, not to mention listening to the conference that will be held in Lisbon.

A lot of shitcoins have done this before, and there is no good outcome to show for it. It's more like we are just rotating in the same circle of shitcoins. Every 4 years, it happens, and I believe it's just for a pump-dumb gain that these conferences are held.
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Elon Must not tweeting about any crypto coin on his twitter now ? on: April 03, 2024, 02:16:03 PM
I think Elon musk is in the best position to answer this questions and if possible it should be included in a pod cast question for him when next he's invited to a pod cast.

My guess will be that it's causing him a lot of attention, that is not necessarily for his reputation. From my perspective, a lot of people could even buy this coins hoping in his name that the coin will do well and at the end the pump and dump coins do what they are known for hence this beginners or the masses can accuse him for been responsible for their lost which is absolutely not fair. So this could also be a reason.
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you considered staking? on: April 03, 2024, 01:54:24 PM
Just out of curiosity,I went to the official website of Ethereum and found that the annual interest rate is only 3.3%.
I have been hearing of staking in Ethereum and some other top altcoins, but I haven't considered it for some reasons. The ROI is quite understandable, but it's still low for me, and that's also a good reason I can't stake in Ethereum. Instead, I would rather wager with the said funds than risk the funds on a centralised platform and/or exchange that might crash one day. Although life is all about risk, not all risk is worth taking.

I saw this decentralised platform called LIDO, and I would have loved to give it a shot because it has a solution of 3.8% APY on staking ETH, but I still don't find it interesting enough to pyt some of it, and perhaps I'm so tight on my schedule. So there are absolutely no funds for wagering on such a thing for now.
328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Running core on an upgraded notebook under Bodhi. on: April 02, 2024, 11:48:37 AM
Fortunately, I will love to try out these steps, but at the same time, I have a lot of schemes to cover for my academics, so hence I wouldn't be running the bodhi setup now, and I'm also not capable of punching new devices right now.

But I did like the procedures you took and the additional distribution you gave; it's quite relatable. But what I think you should do is make the thread more of a guide thread. The way this particular thread is written looks more like a story than a step-by-step guide thread (the composition is poor). @Jet cash Sincerely, this one is looking like a story note. Perhaps you can add attractive graphics in order to make your guide thread look more interesting. (Just my suggestion)
329  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is age a limitation in Bitcoin on: April 02, 2024, 10:00:24 AM
With the helps of decentralised exchanges age limitation has been put out of the crypto space, especially in bitcoin one anyone of any age can own whatever amount of unds in his or her wallet because it's not regulated. With all this features that cryptocurrencies has brought to the world have made it stand out because a lot of people has been maltreated because of age limitations and hence they now settle for cryptocurrencies.

Truly the power of decentralisation is the fact that it cannot be regulated by any law, or centralised authorities. Both teens and older people now can have whatever amount that they wish to have in there wallets without any of the governmental troubles which is very good of them.

But don't you think that the under age sector of people will misuse this feature of no age limitations? Young and new trades have a sense of greed in their personalities. They see celebrities on TV and all over the internet and they want to become like them no matter at what cost.

They see crypto as a Shortcut to richness although it's not like that. So they'll in my opinion try to invest a large amount no matter how it comes. This will lead to tensions in their character development phases and it will lead to an unethical generation full of selfishness. There should be a limit to the age and it should be set by the consultation of some doctors and psychologists.
unfortunately, your thinking is biased based on th environment which you find yourself, there are people all over the world who are in a responsible environment which they have been groomed not to think of financial crime and perhaps the opposite could also happen but why don't we hope for the best?

Secondly, if bitcoin or cryptocurrency at large becomes age limited then bitcoin has deviated from its original intention of being a freedom currency, Satoshi knew all the limitations in the financial system in the world but he choice to make become decentralised, unlimited to age etc because he understood the world and how it operates.

So perhaps if there was an age limit in bitcoin, then I wouldn't be sharing my little knowledge with you because in the last few months I was completely under aged the centralised authorities policies but I hold bitcoin even we I was under aged which is the exact power of bitcoin which we discuss.
The world could be a better place from the vision of Satoshi if there is financial freedom and all we need is to be careful of how we use this new invention and that's all that is required of us. If you're a freedom fighter you could understand more of what the intention of bitcoin and/or crypto is.
330  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paid bitcoin to get Copper memeber status - still can't add image to my OP? on: April 01, 2024, 11:01:44 AM
The forum does not use Imgur image anymore, it's not longer supported in the forum that it's why your image couldn't display.

Perhaps you have to use the talking.com and upload your image hence it will display.

331  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nigeria, The Greatest Country in Africa on: March 31, 2024, 12:27:32 PM
It's obvious that Nigeria is a very great country from history and how it has survived over the years, but perhaps it has a lot of bad records in the world that has brought it's reputation down but my question is what's the essence of all the hype here in the forum.
Does it really matter?

If you don't have any other stuff to do you could use this opportunity to learn and read articles than brag about how great Nigeria is here, for the fact that this forum is bitcointalk it's mostly about bitcoin, so you can use all the time to read about bitcoin or if it's better you can go to naija local board and post this thread there or even move it there.
332  Other / Meta / Re: Gambling board merit thread on: March 31, 2024, 11:31:23 AM
Your idea of meriting post that discussing achievements in gambling can be manipulated in several ways, since there is no way to keep an eye on the results that will be uploaded as true but if only you have an idea on how to handle the lies then you can explain it here, if convincing enough then this idea could be bought by the merit sources.

I already explained above. There’s a way to verify all bets in a casino because it has a bet ID which you can verify the result through the support or by clicking the bet link like slots.

Cheaters can be easily caught if they provide bet ID that is contradicting to what they are sharing on the thread.

My only problem on this idea is about newbie trying to gamble just to earn merit which is not my intention since my original target here are those who regularly gamble.

Okay, now I clearly the whole idea, I think it's very much nice.

Hence I would suggest a new idea here to cope with the gambling addiction and that might arise as a merit fishing.
I will suggest that you make it in a way that it's rank limited, like it's only allow on full member+ or snr member+ as to ensure that they must have alot of knowledge concerning gambling addiction and how to cope with it.

I believe this will help in a way but that's dependant how much the idea is adopted.
333  Other / Meta / Re: Gambling board merit thread on: March 31, 2024, 10:42:49 AM
Firstly love the idea but it's very difficult to achieve because of the way things are done in the gambling board, alot of post are just repetition of old posts that had been treated and perhaps it's considered spamming.

Your idea of meriting post that discussing achievements in gambling can be manipulated in several ways, since there is no way to keep an eye on the results that will be uploaded as true but if only you have an idea on how to handle the lies then you can explain it here, if convincing enough then this idea could be bought by the merit sources.

I suggest that someone with high level of knowledge of the gambling board should be made a merit source to handle merit spread in the gambling board, thus with that high knowledge in gambling he or she could determine what is quality post or not.

334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Can someone help me how to get my BNB out of my Trust Wallet? on: March 31, 2024, 10:17:08 AM
Firstly you have to move this topic to Altcoin Discussion

Perhaps if you wish to convert you BNB to your local currency you have to sign up on an exchange.

The said binance or coinbase is a good centralised exchange that you could use to convert you coins to cash, but all you have to do is sign up and verify any of them chose with a valid ID in order to trade.
335  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think merit is by chance or lengthy article? on: March 31, 2024, 10:13:01 AM
What brings merit is quality post but the quality of your post is subjective which means it depends on the merit source spread merit based on what he /she considers as quality post.

A quality post can either be lengthy or short but it's more about the information that it contains. Sometimes your post can be very informative but it has been treated or it's known to the people already hence they do not consider it anymore.

But perhaps you want to earn some merit for good post then you have to look at how people who have been earning some good merit does it and then if you follow the steps it certainly bring you some merit too.
336  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I really hold onto my bitcoins in the future? on: March 31, 2024, 09:46:19 AM
Hello all forum members. I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I have been familiar with Bitcoin since 2019. In 2015, when I entered my Honors first year at university, my family situation was very bad financially. I told my family situation to the head of my university then sir gave me a job opportunity. In the house where Sir lives, he has a neighbor, an old woman lives there. The old woman's children lived abroad and had citizenship there. My job was basically shopping for him, withdrawing money from the bank, basically working as his runner.  He paid me $100 a month. I could save $30 dollars a month and put that money in the bank. The old lady died just three months before my honors final exams started. I worked under that old woman for three years and seven months. After completing the final exam, I was not sure what to do with the money, whether to keep it in the bank or not, then a friend of mine told me to invest the money in Bitcoin. I didn't think about it at first but I spent a month browsing the internet about Bitcoin. Later I became interested in Bitcoin. I withdraw my bank money and invest in Bitcoin. I don't know why I didn't sell Bitcoin when it reached its highest price.  Currently I am unemployed for three years after completing my studies. I am trying hard to find a job but luck is not helping me. I have two tuitions to support myself but it doesn't work like this, it has become very important for me to help my family. I don't know what to do now. Now the bitcoin market has increased a lot, should I sell my bitcoins? I will use it in a small business. Should I be given more time for the job? I have to take a decision in the next two months. Experienced members of the forum give me some advice what should I do.
Personally, I'm struggling to really comprehend the message of this thread because you wish to sell your small bitcoin to start a business or keep looking for a jobe perhaps your should answer the question yourself. Non of us here could have the answer because it's a personal decision that you must take, hence it's more advisable to get a job and keep your life moving because bitcoin is not a get rich quick scheme and thous it can not give you a profit that will change your life the way you presume it.

For a good investment in bitcoin you need to have something doing either you own a business or yours or get a job that can pay your bills. Having bitcoin or coming into this forum doesn't mean you are going to make money but perhaps you can begin to trade if you have a good knowledge of it, so you could really help yourself.

338  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: All business need to risk, so not only crypto! on: March 31, 2024, 08:53:01 AM
According to one of the legendary member of this forum, he said life is risky. If you are alive your taking a risk, if you sleep you take a risk, if you wake up you're taking a risk, if you go out you're taking a risk already so life generally is full of risk not just bitcoin or cryptocurrency that are risky, infact the risk of cryptocurrency is even very minimal because it's volatility has been converted into a means of earnings.

For anyone to be successful they most have to take risk. risk in life is inevitable that means everyday we meet risk and we have to take the risk in order to become what you wish to become. while in cryptocurrency we have to wager around with some funds in order to make profit and that's our only risk, it's either it plays out our own way or the opposite way.

339  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Make reading a habit on: March 31, 2024, 08:27:31 AM
Generally, reading is something that one must take very serious not just for the forum but in anything in life. Even if you don't want to do anything like I mean you don't have any goal to achieve you should still read and perhaps when it has to do with forum, I think one should be reading more of bitcoin related articles and for someone like me that wants to learn technical related stuff I have to keep solving maths that relates to coding that will help in figuring out answers to questions. And or keep reading about programming languages that I'm interested in.

Knowledge does not just develop on its own, although it comes too with experience but one most be open enough to read in order to widen ones horizons. For legendary members here in the forum I believe they must have learn from experience and read articles relating to bitcoin and most of the cases which we discussed from the past they witnessed all of them all so when they speak you can acknowledge that it's feed with so much experiences.

What I'm saying in essence is one most read to be acquainted with what ever knowledge we wish to have. Reading/studying is an essential part of our life.
340  Economy / Economics / Re: Off Economic phenomenon. on: March 31, 2024, 08:08:49 AM
Apart from the fact that you're specific that you did answers from other countries citizens, I'm also from same country and perhaps I totally understand the current economic situation of the nation.

The current economic situation has been very very poor to the extent that it cannot be changed in just a few decisions but has to go through a lot to be normal again. The past governments of the country ruled the nation in a selfish manner that has lead to the high inflation of goods and services in the country and perhaps for it to be corrected it must go through some work which requires time, since the incubate government are working on bringing down the inflation rate the no matter the reduction in dollar rate it's expected that goods and services will go high in the first period of policy changes before it sets to fall for good.

This has lead our incubate president to make some announcements few times ago that they are working of inflation and perhaps the citizens will have to bear with them for some time before the price of goods and services will set to reduce. Thous he gave an example that when a is turn off for the first time it uses the same energy to rotate meanwhile it's off already so it will take some time to reduce and turn off permanently and is how the inflation of goods and services will take a little time before it will set to reduce to a better level.
I hope with this example you will understand better.
