321  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Funds just vanished at cex.io on: August 20, 2014, 07:37:25 PM
cex.io / ghash.io sucks recently I'm having other problems with them:

1) With a constant mining power the amount of BTC I generate daily is not stable at all
2) They made an update today August 19th 2014 and since then no more DEV in my account, it vanished

I will give them another 4 days to see how it goes, if it's bad I will go to another pool.

The DEV is gone from my account as well.  I also have issues where my miners stop hashing at us1.ghash.io:3333 (my S1 and S2 sees US as dead a lot) and go to my backup pool; I added uk1.ghash.io:3333 and I seem only hash there.
322  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S3 upgrade kit???? on: August 19, 2014, 10:29:41 PM
Can the old boards be utilized as well?

The old boards are the part that is being replaced because they are inefficient.  You can undervolt them to get a little more life out of them and that's why the upgrade kit is considered a bad idea.

I was just asking since I have 4 S1's and wondered if I could repurpose them.  I'm really not worried about the cost of power... Solar on the house.

An iPhone App would be nice...
325  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: First attempt at mining: Raspberry Pi + 1 Antminer U2 on: August 19, 2014, 01:26:13 PM
This is cool, I have a couple of RPi's laying around that I should mess with.  The only thing that sucks is the price of the U1 and U2 devices, I believe that they are hovering around $16.00...  It would be cool if they were closer to $2.00, then you can actually build a small rig that may turn a profit.

The S1 project is interesting.
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What hardware is behind "HASHLET"? on: August 19, 2014, 12:50:11 PM
My issue is that with current price of LTC and converting to BTC, it seems like we paying 1/3 of our profits into fees.  I only have 10 Hashlets and I made $1.31817891 last night after the $.80 in fees; gross was $2.12639971 less $.80822080 fees with BTC at $468.88.

Before LTC crashed, I was earning approximately $5.50 a day on a Black Widow which hashes at approximately 13mh/s; now that machine is at $2.42163888, with a $.98 a day fee which leaves me a
$1.44163888 in profit.

I wonder how long we have as individuals before it doesn't make sense to hash...

327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What hardware is behind "HASHLET"? on: August 17, 2014, 04:59:18 PM
Do they charge maintenance fees on hashlets? Maybe I should've checked before I bought

Good point, there was a $2.5 per MH/s per month fee mentioned somewhere on hashtalk but I can't find that anywhere on the product page or the cloud site. They do promise to reduce the maintenance cost, whatever that means.

Edit: $0.08 per MH/s per day. Login is required to see it on the cloud site. Still not sure if it's available anywhere publicly.

https://cloud.zenminer.com/maintenance-cost

When you click on any of your hashlet miners, it doesn't display a fee.  My Black Widow shows .98 a day and the Fury shows .11 a day.  I thought I read that all fees were rolled into the purchase price?
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What hardware is behind "HASHLET"? on: August 16, 2014, 09:57:04 PM
Now they need to update their interface to reflect the Hashlet mining speed on the Dashboard charts.
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What hardware is behind "HASHLET"? on: August 16, 2014, 08:39:40 PM
I know they say multi algorithm in their description, but they never say of it's a 1 to 1 ratio. 1gh/s for 15.99 sounds very expensive to me if I can only mine SHA.  Has anyone tested that you can also mine Scrypt? If so, is it 1gh/s?
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CGMiner/R9 280X - No devices detected - Win 7 64 on: August 15, 2014, 07:13:29 PM
Is your GPU Sapphire Dual-X 280X?

Yes they are, I also have a few Sapphire 290X's I can install if you think that's the issue?
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor Cgminer & Sgminer on: August 14, 2014, 11:50:56 PM
This looks great...  I'm assuming that there is no Nvidia support?
Not at the moment - mainly because cudaminer and ccminer doesn't provide any API's. Because of this it is difficult to get all nice statistics that most people are used to. The number of operations you can perform on the miner will also be very limited.

If there are many users interested in nVidia support, I can go ahead with the implementation.

I think I can manage to get the following for nVidia in Awesome Miner:
- Start / Stop / Restart miner via Awesome Miner
- Current hash rate
- Current Accepted / Rejected
- Current profit
- Automatic restart crashed miner
- Change pool (will restart miner and change)
- A specific nVidia version of the Awesome Profit Switching feature, that automatically switches between multiple multipools.

This is still very limited compared to all the things Awesome Miner can do with Cgminer and Sgminer.

Thanks for the reply, the only reason I asked is that I use AMD at work, but my home PC's are all NVidia.

That said, now I’m trying to figure out what I need to buy (Awesome Miner Edition) to monitor Profit Switching from a master PC.

I have 2 PCs that are dedicated to running X11 with R9 280X cards in them.  I’m able to get the PCs mining with Awesome Miner using SGMiner.  I want to manage both of these PCs from my main PC, just like managing an S1 or S3 unit.  Is this possible?  I installed the miner remote agent on the mining computers, but I cannot get a connection to them from my main PC.  Firewall is off and the units are all on the same subnet.
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CGMiner/R9 280X - No devices detected - Win 7 64 on: August 14, 2014, 11:48:15 PM
Thanks for the info, that still doesn't answer why I can't get CGMiner to work with 3.7.2 and GPUs.

As for switching, I'm using Awesome Miner.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / CGMiner/R9 280X - No devices detected - Win 7 64 on: August 14, 2014, 06:54:30 PM
I just did a fresh OS install and I can't get CGMiner to recognize my cards (R9 280X).  I've tried running 1 and 2 cards directly from the board as well as from a riser.

I've tried running CGMiner 3.7.2, 4.3.2 ans 4.4.2.

I installed the OpenOL drivers from AMD via the AMD SDk 2.9 and installed latest Video drivers from AMD's website.  I also ran MS update and installed Framework 4.5.

SGMiner works; it sees all cards, but I want to run CGMiner as it allows for smoother pool switching.

Any ideas on what I'm missing?

335  Other / Beginners & Help / I'm a tad bit confused... on: August 13, 2014, 02:49:37 PM
I’m new to the crypto-currency world but I have a background in the foreign exchange trade market and I have a few questions because I’m confused to the long term possibilities of this type of currency since it’s not backed by a government like the Euro, Dollar, Yen…  I fully understand that most world currencies are floating due to not being backed by silver or gold and that their intrinsic value can vary from day to day.  But each country uses a unified currency locally (fiat currencies) that is manufactured, destroyed, monitored and accounted for by their governments.

Right now there are approximately 275 different crypto-currencies that you can mine and trade online.  What makes any one currency a better choice than another?  Currently, it seems that Bitcoin is the standard, followed by Litecoin.  Most other currencies seem like they are mined or traded on speculation that they will take off or to acquire fractions of Bitcoin.  Here’s my big issue; if no one is using a currency for commerce, then, how are blocks being generated?  Are they just generating blocks to verify the trade, movement or dispersion of a block?  It’s like they are creating busy work to generate more blocks to create more busy work for something that has absolutely no value and has not been accepted by the masses.  People would probably take a currency more seriously if there was some kind of structure to it.  Right now the market on Bitcoin is volatile and I would never use it as a means of commerce for my company… It’s also expensive as you have the trade fees that go along with changing a crypto back into your local fiat currency.  Most local companies will only trade in their local currency, they will not accept foreign currency due to the volatility in the exchange rates and the cost of the exchange.

What’s going to happen when the cost of mining exceeds the profit for the miners?  How are trades going to be verified?

I’m not opposed to the thought of crypto currency that is widely accepted, but none are.  I say this just based on all the hoops you have to jump through to just change the USD into Bitcoins.  You have to use a third party clearing house to move your fiat currency to a point that it can be sent to an exchange to purchase bitcoins.  You are literally paying multiple agencies for the privilege of buying something with bitcoins.  So, you literally diluted your fiat dollar to buy something with a crypto that you could’ve just purchased with a fiat…

an update... had fixed my problem... my wallet is updated now...

i'll share my workaround:

I deleted the content of the folder (%appdata%\hirocoin) then re-installed again the wallet (v.0.8.6.4) and pasted my wallet back-up... problem was solved!

Thanks, my issue had to do with the wallet update.

Hi,

I am trying to solo mine to a single wallet on my network from multiple PCs using CCMiner.  All PCs are on the "allowed" side of my firewall.

Did you try with another wallet? Never mined/used Darkcoin.

What do you mean?  Try a different currency?  I've only tried it with DarkCoin.  I'll try a different X11 currency and let you know what I find.
339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solo mining to one wallet from multiple PCs using CCMiner on: August 12, 2014, 02:41:19 PM
Its all about the rpcallowip=

I would suggest to just allow all ips and try it that way.

rpcallowip=*

if that doesnt help, check/deactivate firewall to test.

Thanks for the reply...  I tried that as well.  Even from a local PC using localhost in CCMiner and in darkcoin.conf, I still get the same error.  I've tried this on my work PC as well as my home PC with the same outcome; I also tried running the wallet on another PC and pointing my miner at it and still the same error.  All three tests were with fresh downloads of the wallet that were allowed to completely update.  Obviously, the wallets were restarted after each set of changes.

Anyone?  I'm totally lost here.

I changed my config file on the wallet to try localhost, the ip address of the PC, the external address of the PC...
