321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUCK YOU MTGOX on: June 28, 2018, 02:57:29 PM
Mt.gox decided to stop selling bitcoins and instead of giving fiat back, they'll be giving them in bitcoin so this should no longer be a problem.

Even If they were still selling, don't you think that If their exchange never got hacked, the price would've been the same as now because the coins would've never left the market in first place so there will be more supply?
322  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Many ICOs look exactly like Banks 2.0 why do ICOs then? on: June 28, 2018, 02:10:35 PM
Finally someone who gets it.

If Satoshi managed to create bitcoin without running an ICO (as far as we know) then It should be possible for other projects as well but as you can see, these developers are not driven by passion like Core developers for example, It's just about the money. Most of these projects fail to deliver.

didnt people support bitcoin because it was anti banks, because it was different?

And as for this part, It sure used to be but It's not the case anymore. It's all about making money now which is sad.
323  Economy / Web Wallets / Is blockchain.info to be trusted? on: June 26, 2018, 09:49:22 AM
I'm not speaking from the perspective of whether they are accessing user funds or not. I'm referring to the fact that they promised in December or January IIRC that they'll be supporting SegWit soon but until now, we haven't seen anything instead, we're seeing updates for ETH, BCH and there built in exchange.
324  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: June 26, 2018, 08:50:11 AM
Yesterday, TREZOR released a new software update for both TREZOR T and TREZOR One. Even their wallet page got an update allowing users to export their transaction history as PDF and CSV. The most noticeable features are: Cashaddr support (Bitcoin Cash new address format), Zcash Overwinter Update readiness and support for many new cryptocurrencies such as Lisk, Decred, Bitcoin Private, XEM (model T) and so on.

You can find more information on their blog.

The new cryptocurrencies won't be supported in Model One? Pretty sure they stated before that they will continue developing the first model. Probably just their way to force people into switching.
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitmain Reaching 42% of Bitcoin Network Hashrate on: June 25, 2018, 10:32:02 AM
A mining pool is public though, so other people are possibly mining in BTC.com and Antpool. If that ever happens, people could simply stop, how does Bitmain have the power to make a 51% in that case? I'm missing something?
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Walleting.Services] AUTOMATIC Bitcoin Fork Claiming: BTG BCD SBTC BCX BTCP BIFI on: June 24, 2018, 07:16:29 PM
Regarding Gate.io, is the KYC applicable to existing customers or the new ones as well? If the latter, any limits without verification?
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox victims getting back USD 1 Billion... next bull run? on: June 24, 2018, 02:44:38 PM
Not necessarily. The funds are going to be given back in bitcoin starting 2019 I believe. Some of these victims had everything they had on bitcoin back then, so It's more then likely that they need the money and they might actually sell everything as soon as they get it.

But now and we know that Mt.gox won't be dumping the coins anymore, I'm going to expect a decent price increase in the next few weeks.
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All Bitcoin forks are going $0 on: June 24, 2018, 01:24:11 PM
Warnings are everywhere and yet, no one seem to listen. We now have this service so there is absolutely no reason on why you should keep your forked coins.

Sadly, this is valid for alts as well. It's just a matter of time until people realize that most of these coins are created for the sole purpose of making money.
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to setup an offline/cold wallet masternode? on: June 23, 2018, 10:15:39 AM
The only difference between masternode coins and Bitcoin is that they have POS and BTC is POW. It's all about generating the coins, everything else should be the same. It's possible though that the software you're using don't support the same features as Electrum.
330  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: crypto world on: June 23, 2018, 05:55:27 AM
If you're following the hype and Youtubers, you'll find yourself homeless instead of a multi millionaire. Find coins that are used for a purpose and invest based on them. A few suggestions: BTC and ETH (you could never go wrong with these two) as they are always in an active development state.
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethos wallet Beta on: June 23, 2018, 05:19:27 AM
Do you expect that they will use an open source. What you say when they start collecting data I will not use this wallet. I have read that there are quite a few airdrops in your wallet at the lauce.

I found this on their Reddit, I believe it's from the staff:

Quote
"We can't open source everything, but we will undergo an open source initiative after the first few releases and encourage community involvement in our development efforts. Key management will almost certainly be open sourced so that everyone knows their keys are secure"

I've checked their GitHub and there is nothing related to the wallet so don't expect it to be open source, not anytime soon anyway. I understand how tempting it could be to use a wallet with a nice UI and good features but never compromise the safety of your funds because of that.

332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Got I hacked "remote access"? (Firefox, World of Tanks, Monero, Windows10) on: June 22, 2018, 11:22:28 AM
The programs you were running are irrelevant. The strange mouse moves and your wallet being opened multiple times means that you have a RAT in your computer. Avira results means nothing, viruses nowadays are undetectable.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethos wallet Beta on: June 22, 2018, 09:12:24 AM
The user experience and interface definitely looks good however, I wouldn't suggest it to anyone as It's not open source and we can't know for sure the data that is being collected (seed, our portoflios etc.)
334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More problems for Tezos, which now demands KYC on: June 22, 2018, 06:31:52 AM
The project died the second they had that issue with the collected funds. I know they are trying to get back on their feet but forcing users to verify their identity is not helping much.
335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone explain to me why altcoins are worth money? on: June 19, 2018, 08:10:25 PM
A lot of people fail to read the whitepaper, don't believe in whatever they are investing in, don't do a background check on the team and yet, invest.

Why? because people are not educated. It's all about the hype. His favorite YouTuber make a sponsored video about an ICO and he decide to put all his life savings there. He see a score x/5 in an ICO rating system and he decide to invest.

People should understand that most of these coins are a pure scam. If whoever is creating these coins was interested about coins and creating a Bitcoin v2.0 he would've contributed to the original source code instead of taking people money to do so.

So as long as people are not getting educated, demand will remain and coins will continue to get sell even If they are have no purpose.
336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether question on: June 19, 2018, 07:51:16 PM
It's like Ethereum and ERC20 tokens. Tether is an Omni token, running in the bitcoin blockchain so any transaction made there should be validated by the bitcoin network.
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Projects that worth waiting for on: June 19, 2018, 06:28:22 PM
Shitcoins aside, I'm trying to have an idea about the projects that one should be excited about and that will greatly help bitcoin. I managed to find Altcoin.io and RSK.co. Anything else? If possible, an estimation of the release date and a link to the GitHub repository.
338  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Exchange listing service on: June 19, 2018, 04:56:05 PM
I could missing something but I doubt it. I don't see why you would want to use an intermediary to list your coins, you'll probably get scammed. Just contact the exchanges yourself. If your fork meets their requirements, they'll list it.
339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the ERC20 smart contact an advantage over bitcoin ? on: June 19, 2018, 03:23:12 PM
It's more then possible, It's under development already. We've multiple projects that could make this possible. Rootstock, Drivechains and MAST.

If developers deliver what promised, I can't see anyone using Ethereum in the next 5-10 years.
340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: storing my XRP? on: June 18, 2018, 07:33:45 PM
I couldn't find the source code of that specific website. If you want to be sure that you're safe, find something open source like this: https://github.com/droopram/RipplePaperWallet

Download the source code -> turn your internet connection off -> run the web page -> generate and print.
