321  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-28] Bitcoin Breaks Above $7,000 as Crypto Market Rallies Into Green on: August 28, 2018, 09:48:55 PM
because if the SEC does not approve the ETF, we will have a price drop and if the price remains at  $7000. Then we will see a price drop to below $ 6000.

Investors should really forget about ETF. It isn't the end of the world, it is good to get but it is after all a step that is facultative.

Unfortunately we do not have much demand, we have many obstacles caused by many governments then the price of bitcoin and altcoins will not increase much unless it is approved some ETF or bakkt bring many institutional investors
Unfortunately, it is true but it is all a matter of time before acceptance.

I don't mind seeing a Bcash hard fork, after all who mind to get free money?
BTW, Bcash boys cannot agree with anyone including themselves, they will keep fighting each other for every single idea all the time tho...
323  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-06-03] Bitcoin Mining Operation Powered by Hydroelectric Dam in Q4 2018 on: August 26, 2018, 06:33:59 PM
Anything that steps away from Bitmain is a big positive in my book.
For sure, I would like to see more giant tech companies competing Bitmain not only for less expensive prices but also for more decentralisation.

@OP fix the date on the title.
324  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-25] Hackers Still Cryptojack Smartphones to Mine for Cryptos, Security on: August 25, 2018, 06:17:55 PM
You cannot even copy paste correctly! What's wrong with you? Hopefully this isn't a duplicated topic as usual (or isn't it?)

Although usually, it may just decelerate smartphone functionality, ESET revealed that on certain Android devices, it could even cause the battery to "swell and bloat" and thus lead to physical damage to the whole smartphone
Great... They have to hack thousands of phones to collect few dollars...so random.
325  Economy / Economics / Re: ETF rejected on: August 24, 2018, 08:29:21 PM
I told ya guys the SEC won't approve it, a lot of members were saying "this time is different" "for sure it will be approved", etc...
I hope to see them commenting on this topic to see what they have to say now Cheesy
They will say I knew it and I told you that boyz

Now I am interested to see how the market will react to this news in the next following days...
I don't see why the price should rise or drop especially for an expected event.

I guess KYC for all the members is a must to avoid bots or anyone having so many accounts.

E3 NSA like that.
Theymos want to see the hell freezes before doing so...luckily for us.
330  Other / Meta / Re: Community generated suggestions to improve the forum (+ eventual voting on them) on: August 21, 2018, 10:38:24 AM
@theymos
Once you have some free time, please elaborate the No part a little bit especially for the permaban tag + 1 merit (at least) to become a Junior Member.
This will help us improving our suggestion in the future.
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Should limited participant signature campaign in the last weeks? on: August 20, 2018, 03:16:56 PM
You cannot compare a giant ads screen in the street with guys putting an ads in their tee-shirts.
People will likely pay more attention to an ads seen in this screen and buy the product while the guys although they are many and passed the whole day walking in the streets will not get that much.
In bitcointalk, it is the same. People passed more than 3 years to rank up to hero/Legendary and now collecting merit has the right to earn more than a new registered member with a dozen farming accounts, no?
But I agree with you, I prefer to limit participants...to +10 merits and above at least.
332  Other / Meta / Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) on: August 20, 2018, 12:36:25 PM
Agreed - threads like this do nothing but ask for trouble.  :/

Sometimes it is good for (some of) them to know that they are ignored, this may let them revise their ideology (prefer to say idiology).
Of course, the majority will keep repeating same idiotic ideas over and over but at least we made a point here.
333  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-19] Venezuela: Inflation Tops 100,000 %, Bitcoin Costs 60M Bolivar on: August 19, 2018, 02:23:12 PM
I'm not sure if it's pro Maduro propaganda, but there have been attempts to hand out free meals to people at least once a day, but that's still not enough.

Yeah, you are right, I was reading https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-45237368 then I saw the last video. Miserable conditions, malnutrition and extreme poverty. 1 million fled the country and increasing...

@ OP, please move the topic to politics sub.
334  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-19] Venezuela: Inflation Tops 100,000 %, Bitcoin Costs 60M Bolivar on: August 19, 2018, 10:47:10 AM
The inflation will continue to rise and there is no need to compare their currency with fiat or cryptocurrencies since there will be no limit.
It is unfortunate what happens in Venezuela. The problem is that the economic sanctions don't affect politicians that much, it affects the citizens in the first place. I read few weeks ago about a teacher tho who cannot afford to buy a new pair of shoes! Wonder know how poorer people find money to eat.

336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin comparison to Gold and Silver price graphs against USD on: August 18, 2018, 06:47:19 PM
Bitcoin $200 to $19000 can be compared to Silver $80/ounce in 1980 when Hunt brothers bought all the Silver from the market.

Now Silver is $16/ounce. Now bitcoin has been declared as a digital asset.

Nope. Silver, gold and other materials are minable and its price could be adjusted by governments in a way or another. For bitcoin it is a fixed minable amount and you cannot pass it so the price will definitely rise when we get closer to that limit. For the next years halving will took place in ~2020 so  Wink
337  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: August 18, 2018, 06:37:45 PM
Is this good enough? More than 800 people downloaded it, and I got 2 merit from people that didn't download it, but felt sorry for me, lol

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3052745.0

It is normal, sometimes the OP gets less merit for his topic than someone who gave a comment.
Contribute to the forum and the merit points will come sooner or later.
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC will hit 500++ on july 15 2019 on: August 17, 2018, 08:43:25 PM
I doubt the litecoin price will rise to $500 in less than a year honestly!
Getting +$200 is quite a good initial step around the halving?
Anyway, as said by tabas, you have to move the topic to altcoins speculation sub.
339  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-13] Vietnamese Stop Importing Bitcoin Mining Rigs as Import Ban Looms on: August 16, 2018, 09:49:11 PM
Then presumably you just import them in pieces and put them back together again. There's nothing all that unique about them as actual units, bits of circuitry and some add ons for cooling and power.

Is it even worth mining in Vietnam?
From what I remembered in the news a few months ago a lot of Chinese cryptpcurrency mining companies and individuals have their operations relocated in some Southeast Asian countries one of them is Vietnam as they allegedly have cheaper electricity and other cost. I don't know how the Chinese who have relocated in Vietnam will handle this if some tougher ban will take place they have to move quickly with this one.
They will keep moving. I don't know the price of electricity in nearer countries but I doubt Vietnam has the best rates..

Then presumably you just import them in pieces and put them back together again. There's nothing all that unique about them as actual units, bits of circuitry and some add ons for cooling and power.
Indeed. But if severe sanctions will took place then those miners will be busted easily.
340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beginner's Luck on: August 16, 2018, 09:37:36 PM
Few words which explain in a very clear way what's Beginner's Luck in a dice Casino betting site:

- Starting off with a clean probabilistic chance without much % of a big red streak.
And this chance drops by 99,99% after this lucky shot.
Beginners luck is not only winning but scoring high at the same time, such thing is extremely rare Undecided

-snip-
Nice analysis.
