SOLD!
322  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: October 11, 2013, 11:23:18 PM

If you have a good quality 850W PS (like the Enermax B3 shipped with) then a 4-module @ 335mhz pulls about 105+Ghash using 940W from the wall for me....

if im not mistaken, B2 came with the same enermax 850 - but 940 from the wall could cause it to die no?

im tempted but only slightly, im more scared than excited

Well 850W is the DC rating of the PS.  AC draw from the wall will be higher, based on where you are in the efficiency curve of the PS.

Lets say for the sake of argument the PSU is 90% efficient at 850W with full 100% load.  When supplying 850W DC the AC draw would be ~944W.

But the reality is not all 850 PS' are equal either.  Some have multiple rails, some are over-rated.  What you really need to pay attention to is the rating of the 12V rail.  My PC Power and Cooling 910W rated 74A on the 12V rail running a B3 @ 335mhz pulls about 15-20w MORE than the B2 850w Enermax (same 335mhz), and I am not sure if this is due to the age/rating of PS (80 Silver) or if there is an actual difference in draw between the B2/B3 machines.
323  Economy / Computer hardware / BFL Single 60Gh ASIC Miner - NOW 9.9 BTC need to sell TODAY on: October 10, 2013, 08:15:50 PM
So just got a call that a family member passed away so this forces the sale of a miner - shipping can be upgraded to 1 day for actual cost (+0.3BTC maybe?, current shipping is listed at 0.4 BTC)

UPDATE - 9.9 BTC

------------------------------

This is a barely-used BFL Little Single SC ASIC Miner rated at 60Ghash/sec, and currently hashing away.

Comes with BFL-provided power supply and USB cable. Operating currently off a Raspberry Pi device using minepeon (not included, contact me for details if desired). Note this unit came with no rubber feet on the bottom.

Shipping will be USPS Priority Mail (2-day).

ADDITIONAL TERMS:

Winning bidder will provide telephone number for direct phone contact. I can ship same-day before 5PM PST.

I have a family emergency and I am in need of BTC funds by MONDAY 10/14 at the latest. Funds will have to released before then. I will provide a tracking number with shipment, however if estimated arrival date is beyond Monday note escrow will have to be released by then.

I have used the "jermwerty" handle online for over a decade (google me, check ebay, heatware), and always strive for honest online dealings. Thanks!

hound them over at avalon to sort their price out and we might be able to keep going until the new year...

what freq would they need to be kept at with an 850w powering 4 instead of 3 @ 355??

no matter how i try and justify it, it seems a frivolous waste of scarcer by the day btc.

3.80BTC = 477USD / 298GBP / 352EUR +++ Fees.!!   For 23GH that you cant even use all of until you buy a >1000w PSU....

Roar!!!!

325  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Yifu so there is no deals for Batch 3 customers? on: October 10, 2013, 05:42:23 PM
There is certainly 0 motivation on his part to do more than what is absolutely necessary at this point. We basically had to drag refunds for chips out of him and still we were ripped off basically he sold the chips back door and used our funds to pay for it

Well the whole delayed shipping thing from the beginning was a BS ploy to "maintain" early investor ROI but its hard to say how much Yifu actually controlled that.  But hey it kept GPU people in the game a bit longer, and history is history!

I just think he lost control of what was really happening in China.  Anyone with an earlier batch order knew right away the chip "ship" schedule was much too aggressive based on Avalons earlier deliveries.

I dunno, something like the half-price mini's was just an shot in the dark if Yifu is still out there listening!  A better idea would be a 50% refund on Batch3 but I think giving us 3BTC off of hardware is a more realistic thing to ask for rather than 37-50BTC refunds!

I haven't ran the numbers recently, but B3 is definitely a loss and anything to help that situation out of course is much appreciated. And since tickets always get ignored this forum seems to be the only mechanism for such a request.

Avalon fans!!

Has anyone replaced their fans in the past, and if so what did you replace them with?

I am having trouble finding fans that are within spec, I am finding mostly fans that have a low CFM but everything else matches, and it looks like Delta isn't making the FFB1212EH-PWM fan anymore which I would gladly buy and replace the main fan in my B1, and may test the 38mm with the delta's to see if anything improves or stays the same.

So I am at a loss as to what I should be looking for today, can anyone help?

Thanks!

If you just want OEM replacements I just pulled the model of fan on my B2/B3 and found "used but like new" identical units on eBay for $7 and change shipped.  (NMB MAT 4715KL-04W-B56)

327  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Yifu so there is no deals for Batch 3 customers? on: October 09, 2013, 04:56:12 PM
Well it was a serious question.

At least ASICMiner gave previous buyers coupons.  So far there IS no special deal for previous Avalon customers.

The original price of B3 was based on a month-long ROI, and then was delivered months late thus only partial ROI can be achieved.

Yifu should run his calculator and see what scenario at least would allow B3 owners to be close to "break even" and then offer that deal.

Maybe a 60Ghash mini unit for 3BTC?  Anything helps!

Look I know Yifu reads these forums, and he has performed his magic before who knows maybe rectifying some wrongs will bring back the chi balance he needs   Wink
328  Bitcoin / Hardware / Yifu so there is no deals for Batch 3 customers? on: October 09, 2013, 10:58:58 AM
So an upgrade module is 3.8BTC, or a 4 module unit is 15.

Wow.  So B3 will never make ROI, and being a loyal Avalon customer seems to have no reward.

I would think 50-75% off the current price advertised price would be nice... though even getting another one free wouldn't be enough to save B3 customers.
329  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: YIFU IS AUCTIONNING? on: October 01, 2013, 05:59:56 PM
Yifu made it pretty clear during the chip fiasco that:

1) He was not in control

Yes but he seems to be the guy with access to the private key that holds Avalon's BTC.  So in that sense he who has the money has a big stick... now how much his counterparts listen to him of course can be debated.

YHPM.

12.25BTC for one, 2-day shipping is fine (also much cheaper generally).

Wish I could buy all 8.  Sounds like a few big investors will win out on this...   Sad
332  Economy / Auctions / Re: 2 units of 30 GH little single by butterflylabs inc on: September 25, 2013, 10:08:30 PM
How about 1@4.5BTC  or 2@8BTC

He really isn't interested in selling under 10BTC each.

I offered 6BTC per, and was essentially laughed at (go buy a single for 12 then was the response).

Meanwhile I paid under 10BTC for a little single two difficulty changes ago. (still overpaid)

Current/Recent forum sale prices:
ASICMiner Blades <2BTC
Singles 12BTC
Avalons 16BTC

Those wanting more than that in USD should just sell on eBay, and take that risk!

Bid sniper!  But technically according to the rules you win...

2@ 1.8BTC (escrow, bitmit)

Hi

There is a new Avalon firmware released (Version: 20130923), update your Avalon to latest firmware is always better.

Xiangfu

Thanks Xiangfu!  My question is what are the major differences between ckolivas' 20130821 and this new xiangfu 20130923?  I did run xiangfu's 20130723 for a bit on my Batch 3 just fine, but I've been happy with 20130821 so I am not exactly itching to change...

Seem like both Xiangfu and cklovias use OpenWRT r37008 but the new one upgrades cgminer 3.4.0 to 3.4.4?
336  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How are your asics serving you? on: September 24, 2013, 12:48:58 AM
I think Avalon B1 owners made a killing. Rest all struggling to recover back investment.

This. Even the people who made money from mining would have made more buying BTC directly and holding it. Only Avalon B1 has been profitable in terms of BTC in and BTC out.

B2 has barely ROI'd for many.  Remember some ordered B2 for 54 BTC, and those rigs arrived with less than a quarter of the current diff...

So in that sense yes, the real answer is only first day or batch orders really made anything.

Its too bad BFL is inept, and Avalon let all the chips walk out the back door...

Thanks to their efforts to "maintain early investor ROI".   Roll Eyes

To all those people buying chips today that haven't even "taped out" yet, in two months they will be re-living the BFL/Avalon fun of the past year...
337  Bitcoin / Hardware / Replacement ASICMiner 4-pin power green screw-down terminals on: September 24, 2013, 12:16:49 AM
So I had bought a couple original design ASICMiner Blades that didn't come with the green power connector.  Fortunately I was able to solder up my own connections but they are a bit fragile.  Would like to return to the more robust screw connector.  Just need the part that plugs into the existing green PCB power connector with the screw down terminals.

Found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-pcs-5-08mm-Angle-4-pin-Screw-Terminal-Block-Connector-Pluggable-Type-Green-/400365142419

Wondered if that would work, though the "sides" of the connector on the blades are closed not open like the one on eBay so it makes me hesitant.

Thoughts/Ideas anyone?
338  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Is it worth buying & selling? on: September 24, 2013, 12:06:54 AM
As I've heard before on here:

Its like catching a falling knife.

Examples:

BFL Singles in hand were selling for 20-25BTC just a couple weeks ago.

Today:  13BTC or less.  I am pretty sure we will hit 10BTC soon.

I bought an Avalon Batch 3 upgrade single module about when B3 shipped for 27BTC (overpaid, but knew it at the time).

Two weeks ago I bought a Avalon Batch 2 upgrade single module for 10BTC.

Now they sell for 5-7 or less.

The problem is we are still in that period where everything is in flux.  With difficulty skyrocketing prices for miners are plummeting.  New multiple terrahash ASICs are on the horizon.  Its anyone's bet how fast the network will grow, who's chips will be late/delayed, etc.  I have $0.06KWH power which was traditionally my "saving grace" while mining with GPUs, but ASICs are getting more power efficient all the time so its hard to say what an ASICMiner blade, Avalon, or a current BFL Single will be worth in a few months.

TL;DR - Even as an early adopter, at this point I wish I had kept my coins and not bought ASICs!  Really only the lucky and/or insiders are making money.
339  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [FAILED]Butterfly Labs 30 day countdown to the end of September on: September 21, 2013, 12:17:15 AM

They aren't going to make it unless something radical changes.

Yeah they aren't going to make it.  But don't worry by the end of the month we will hear "TWO MORE WEEKS"!
340  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon fucks us over again on: September 20, 2013, 11:31:12 PM
guys, contain this, you're fucking with his chi

Yeah and I'm spending $100/month on power for a Batch3 that may reach 80% ROI.

Thats f-in with my CHI!
