321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When future Bitcoin is sent to an address that existed BEFORE fork what happens? on: July 28, 2017, 02:17:55 PM
nothing will happen, you receive the payment (bitcoin) as before without any problems. SegWit is not yet activated, it is in the lock in stage, and even when it does, because it was a soft fork and because of how it works, the old addresses are still valid and working.
with the BCC altcoin fork, you still have nothing to worry about because you are receiving payment. the sender has to think about replay protection. you will receive the payment exactly like before.

in short, as someone receiving bitcoin you don't have to worry about anything. just wait a little bit longer for more confirmation if you are doing a trade and want to be more sure.

🦋I suppose the curious part of me is still just seeking the knowledge of the process, in the event of forkity-fork regarding sending/receiving.   If someone from the future (let's say 2 months from now) finally has the money they owe me and they attempt to send me the btc, to the Address used prior to the fork, does the sender need to send from a specific chain or can both surviving chains interact and send btc to old addresses? I am imagining mail going to the wrong box and a big forwarding mess.  That's probably not how it works though, right?
🦋
There will be no bifurcation. You need to pause until the situation becomes clearer and then we will make the transaction on the proven path. Why rush things? You lived up to bitcoin and do not die of hunger. Try to remember how it was before and you will fall in love with bitcoin.
Wise words, but true love doesn't wait easily, and Bitcoin is a definite love!  Wink Actually I am more just curious about the various technical outcomes we may see. That's why I asked the question. Hope someone can break down the "boring" part for me. I love "boring" tech details. Smiley
As far as I understand bitcoin addresses that you created before aren't in the blockchain they're just your created private keys. Coins can be sent to addresses that don't exist as well.

The answer to your question involves who is sending the coins, and which chain they are sending from.

🦋Thank you for dissecting to the question I should asked.  Nice reverse engineering, detective!🦋
322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is everyone feeling going into Aug 1? on: July 28, 2017, 12:26:39 PM
I am nervous only for the fact that I still am not sure about the fate of future coins being sent to previously used addresses from before the fork.  Optimistic still, because I know Bitcoin will skyrocket beyond our wildest dreams.
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is first Altcoin you heard and what your reaction?? on: July 28, 2017, 12:23:33 PM
My first altcoin was Doge. Started mining it. Everybody said it was just a joke that wouldn't last for more than a year... we all know it lasted much longer, and still keeps big community

My first altocoin was also doge coin and it was introduced to me by the freebitco site isn't that funny?  I used to call it doggy coin because I would forget, and I would play games with 10 or 20 at a time.  It's a good little side coin and I see it has a bright future.

324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When future Bitcoin is sent to an address that existed BEFORE fork what happens? on: July 28, 2017, 12:13:47 PM
We recommend that you wait for further developments. There may be changes and not related to the previous address. That's all I can suggest, I also do not understand this. Thanks....
I can't find the info but I have a hunch that if it was something that would potentially mess up your incoming funds...surely someone would be warning others of the danger.  I am eager to find out the answer.
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / When future Bitcoin is sent to an address that existed BEFORE fork what happens? on: July 28, 2017, 11:17:46 AM
When future Bitcoin is sent to an address that existed BEFORE the fork what happens?
Do old addresses not have an assigned chain or do they divide or what?

I really don't know the answer here.  I am expecting many payments in the coming days and weeks some of which have staked, aged addresses.  Hmmm.  A little insight would be awesome.  Thanks !
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SNC] SunContract - Decentralized Energy Market TOKEN SALE IS LIVE NOW!!!! on: July 28, 2017, 10:58:23 AM

There will be countries where the sun is shining . I could not find it in the Whitepaper. Sorry
Will the project be active in Europe or worldwide ? Are there already current contracts with power suppliers
Energy is needed everywhere. This is a market without boundaries. I think this will be a very very interesting object.
And I hope the Devs work day and night that it will be a success

We'll start in Slovenia, then probably Germany & Austria, then other EU countries. Then the rest of the world Smiley

Thank you for your support, we'll work hard to make it happen!

The USA Will hopefully be part of the future plans!
To the above poster : here is a link with FAQ and it's one of the answers there, regarding plans to expand and currently included regions.

327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why do ICO Companies Continue to use Slack? on: July 28, 2017, 07:13:28 AM
I want to begin by saying that the Slack app is a very valuable application and allows for the management of community communications in an orderly and efficient manner.  The community manager can set various channels within their slack channel that allows segregated posts, some allowed for the company only and some for general participation.

I started joining various slack channels as I started following ICOs as it is the easiest way to get real time information from the company.  The companies have moderators that are available to answer all kinds of questions and concerns.  From missing contributions to just questions about the ICO, they can answer.
It has also been a big tool for me as a blogger and writer about ICOs to get accurate data from the company directly.

Slack and Security Issues

Built in the slack application, is the slackbot which can send messages to you directly.  What has been happening is that the slackbot is sending scammy messages in these groups.  Posting incorrect ETH addresses and asking you to take some action not authorised by the company.  They have been guilty of massive phishing.

The simple question is, why do these companies continue to use Slack as the manner of communication if this issue is known.  I spoke to the CEO of one of the current ICOs and he said that it is difficult to migrate the slack participants to another solution.  He added that there really is not another solution that meets the requirements.  He had already turned off the slackbot functionality.

We will have to see if companies continue to use this app for their communities and communicating with them in the future.  Is there a comparable app out there?  There has to be a better solution.

Just my thoughts.

More of my thoughts here:

https://urbancrypto.com/category/blockchain-my-thoughts/

I thought the slackbot scams were users naming themselves "Slackbot" at least this is a variation I have definitely encountered first hand.  It is not an easily replaced app, for sure.   Apps like Telegram require lining to your personal cell phone number, which for me is useless since my fiance used my phone number for his ACTIVE telegram account.  If I try to sign in to telegram its all his messages with his contacts.  Lame!   Slack has been amazing for collaborations in general and makes it super easy to do the opposite of "slack off".

Hope the bots with scams at their core fade... but I am always careful anyway.

Cheers!
328  Economy / Currency exchange / Buying Bitcoin NOW with quick pay $400 on: July 28, 2017, 02:49:22 AM
Talk to me if you are trusted, and if you will sell your bitcoin to me right now. We will need to agree on terms of transfer, and because I have verifiable trust with a few here on the forums and my true identity is public, I will ask sender to go first then will remit payment with seconds.    I am at risk, as much as sender, but my information is such that you can find me if you need to.
The first round will be $400 but then, for market or near I will be trading betweeen 2-10thousand regularly, on behalf of existing clientele.
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TIERION [TNT]Token Sale Starts on 27 July on: July 28, 2017, 01:45:32 AM
Just contributed.  Without the freebies, should be less likely this coin will be dumped right after ICO like all the other ones out there.

Good point, and its because the quality of the *hype* about this particular project is not just about how much is being offered to advertise... the buzz is much more genuine than the heavily spammed bounty floods.  Tierion is backed by legitimate, real life use cases .
Examples with big names, like Microsoft,  who is collaborating on a Tierion based service to generate, moderate and validate
attestations, which is useful among review enthusiasts and people searching through resumes for a potential new job candidate.  Also on the list of names is mega brand, Philips using Tierion for upcoming IoT Data Proofs to collect info from MRI machines making easy to follow historically acccurate audit trails.
Verifai is another one (my favorite use case) in cahoots with Tierion on a mission to even the playing field between artificial intelligence and humans. Humans are constantly subject to annnoying captchas to prove we are human.   SmileyTierion and Verafai collaborated on the first service to make the ROBOTS do some work to validate the artificially rendered behaviors.  - Machine Learning Auditability is AWESOME.  Also it is worth mentioning the use case example of keeping the data from clinical trials totally untainted and with that more worthy of our trust as consumers.

I absolutely love the project ( hence the enthusiastic endorsement) and anyone who has not yet had a chance to review the whitepaper, here is a link to it:
https://tokensale.tierion.com/TierionTokenSaleWhitePaper.pdf  I highly reccommend a read through, and NOW is the time the ICO wont last for long and it is going to meet its goal, anyone can see that.

Good luck with this, cheers to profits.  This is a WORTHY project, and not just because Bill Gates is seldom wrong!
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Howard Marks Calls Bitcoin "A Pyramid Scheme" on: July 28, 2017, 12:22:23 AM
This is quite the entertaining load of ignorant crap, I must say.  No offense to the poster, but I am sure he agrees with my sentiment.  Oblivion is bliss, and ignorance is oblivion with an arrogant twist.
I laughed at this one.  The wrong message is so sadly accepted as fact sometimes too.  This fuels the naysayers and its a shame more people dont debate these types of material.

Thanks for sharing !  Cheesy
331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Cash is better than Bitcoin. on: July 27, 2017, 11:08:58 PM
To generalize it, Cash (In types of currencies, Credit Cards, ATM and Etc.) are accepted worldwide. Cash can be easily transfer from one account to another (Legally and Illegally). Second, Cash are easy to access unlike bitcoins that you need to at least look for store or outlets who accept it as a payment. Third, Not all people do know something about cryptocurrencies. I'm not saying bitcoin is useless but hence it is not advisable to use as of the moment (Practically as this currency is still on the process of becoming a real and accepted currency), though the potential of bitcoin to be accepted worldwide is really probable.

This highlights a Niche in the consumer markets, what a great time to offer crypto services, when no other options ask in competition, because btc is still new.   Cash won't be king forever! It's often the obstacle in transactions for me anyway.

Cheers☘️
332  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Interesting Case: Sell Bitcoins, Bank Account Blocked on: July 27, 2017, 03:56:20 AM
Very interesting case, but it has a happy ending.  Smiley

https://www.theguardian.com/money/2017/jul/26/sell-bitcoins-hsbc-block-account

HSBC’s anti money-laundering security alerts were triggered by the unusual sums entering your account, and the bank says it ring-fenced the money and blocked your access while it investigated. Unfortunately you were given mixed messages, for which HSBC apologises. “The funds have been returned, and the account returned to the status it held previously,” it says. “We have also credited the account with £100 as a gesture of goodwill.

"Unusual sums"!!  That is a terrible excuse .  This is precisely the type of inexcusable control banks demand over their victims.  Also, this is why crypto is so freeing!
Thank you for a thought provoking share.
Cheers! 🦋

335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ones are real, Which ones are a scam? on: July 26, 2017, 09:06:20 AM
It's hard not to be tempted to follow the frenzy, especially when profits are soaring for the rare exception.
Most important criteria to adhere to When determining if a project is legitimate or if you are looking and just...some guy is as follows.
There should be a white paper or at least a record of the history of progress including a road map of goals, specific dates and there should be a service, product or a solution to a problem at the heart of it.
For example:  you might be looking at a scam is the "ICO" is not much other than
Bubzywubbzy Coins hosted by surfsup token platform, no developers working on any thing. Bubbzy wubbzy is someone's uncle trying to skim a buck from the frenzy.

Be careful

Sun Contract was all the  buzz in my ico chat group this morning.  We like the concept, the project overall has a noble undertone, and decentralized energy is needed, it is a cut-throat industry.
Great start, and good luck reaching you goals.  Cheers to many more.

I find it interesting the concept of anchoring but I will check the whitepaper out for more explanation of how this differs from the usual consensus and validation methods we see in blockchain technology.
I am fascinated.
