the last 2 payouts report as "unconfirmed" in one wallet (Mycelium) and "Low fee" in the other (Electrum).

anyhow they are both not confirmed.

Blockchain.info reports as unconfirmed

Other explorers report as 70+ confs? For both transactions.

Any ideas whats going on here?  Is it just Blockchain.info thats confused the wallets?

I have three like that. I just assumed it was due to the rise of BTC and the number of transactions that have grown due to the rise. Traders are trading like crazy at heights like this. I would like them to arrive at some point but eh, there is always an accelerator if no luck naturally Smiley

Glad to see you have a miner on the way and soon to be joining this fine pool but please do not post text walls like that. This is for Pool discussions and yes while is related, that wall REALLY belongs in a thread dealing with the miner hardware eg Bitmain's or the Avalon one...

Thanks, I'll take that into account... Sorry I overwhelmed the 300 baud modem with 17 lines consisting of 980 characters.  Roll Eyes

Huh Just convert the USDT back to BTC and withdraw it the same way you would any other time.

Problem is, if you sold your BTC for 2000 and now BTC is 3000, purchasing back the BTC would be at a 1000 dollar loss...

I've no idea why you are continuing this farce other than maybe to get people to give you money.

Well, yeah, that's why I posted in the first place.  I'd like you to give me the money you said you would when I signed up.  Why wouldn't I?  Considering you have $48k of other peoples money tucked away somewhere, some of which is mine, seems reasonable to me to ask for it up front until I can see tangible results.

I want my Two Dollars!

I wonder if BTC will drop down below 3000 again so I can buy back in. Sold at 3060, thought this might be a typical spike and drop, of course it wasn't ... Sigh. Now I got to wait holding USDT, I hate USDT Smiley

Guys I have an urgent question!  I have some BTC in my old Ledger wallet which didn't make 2 different accounts for BTC and BCC yet but I need to sell BTC right now but at the same time don't want to loose the BCC.  Is there an exchange where I could transfer the my BTC and It would split the coin in 2?  Or is it even possible?

Thanks!

You can't spent a coin twice! It's one or the other. I'm right or?

If you had a BTC coin before the split in a wallet with private keys then you should get 1 coin of BCH for every Coin of BTC that you've had.  Although there is still a lot of confusion on how to split them, well at least to me and at least until I get the Nano S wallet in like 5 days. Smiley. Where from what I've read it shouldn't be difficult.  Will see.

And have you seen the price go up to over $600 already for the Other coin?  Was like $250 this morning I believe!

So how does that work? All my BTC is in my Core Wallet. I thought only Exchanges gave both coins in a split to cover customer losses. I can't imagine a wallet would care nor grant you an equal amount of an alt coin within itself or am I reading something totally wrong here?

Yeah but I have no idea who uses what random web wallets/exchanges and what silly rules some of them will come up with.
We'll be mining on the mainnet and if some of them decide to switch to some other coin there's nothing I can do about that.

Exchanges and wallets do strange things ... like blockchain.info saying our payouts are too big ... or bitpay regularly tells me my transactions pay too small a fee even though they are often confirmed in the next block ... some like to come up with their own random crap rules that you can just ignore Tongue

The reason for the "Hold Option" is if you are using some wallet or exchange that does something completely stupid, you can wait and see what they do for a few days before you decide to either change your payout address and re-enable it, or leave it where it's already going and re-enable it.

Personally I think there should be no problems, but the option is there for anyone (unnecessarily?) concerned about their BTC Smiley

Though if you were on some pool that used the block's coinbase transaction to payout, you'd have no choice Cheesy

It's still a few days away, and to be blunt, I'm not really sure what the concern actually is.
Pretty much all the mining hash rate is using the equivalent of core's 0.14.2, so if someone decides to fork off some alt-coin with a few PHs or even 100 PHs vs the network's 6,200PHs - that's like stupidly insignificant and not even worth worrying about.

I guess just make sure you aren't associated with any wallet or exchange doing something stupid Smiley

...

I may hold back a few payouts around/before 1-aug and send them a day or two later, but not for lots of days, maybe one or two days at the most.
I'll decide on the 29th and let everyone know then.

Edit: web link now points to this post Smiley

We should be good using the Core Wallet right Kano?

Been busy...couldn't keep up.

Clgrissom (Sonny) said it best. I use Cryptoboreas in Labrador (hence the dog sled memes). They're smart, honest, reliable, and the least expensive. They do what I need done. There are at least four decent hosting services I know of in North America, two in Canada and two in the US Pacific NW. Take your pick!

CB is full up at the moment. The machines I'm sending are replacing two older ones that will remain "on the side" until more power is available. The change gives me a net 4TH increase on less watts.

Do you actually make a return on this? To host 3 S9's for 3 months it would be $647.09 US.

My A7s finally got out of customs...on the road again...yippee-hoo...

Ups?
Nope...I'm a cheapskate and, if possible, I ship miners via USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate. A miner will fit in a large flat rate box, and I can send one to Labrador for USD$60 compared to over $100 for FedEx or UPS.

It doesn't matter what carrier you use...customs can be a PITA in any case. I was just a bit perturbed because this is the second time in two shipments (this one, and my earlier 741s coming from Canaan) that either US or Canada customs has dropped a dime on me.

Oh, well...they're moving (the shipment), my 741s are hashing away in my bath, and I've got a new batch of homemade fudge ice cream. Life is tolerable.  Kiss

I am curious as well on these hosting places. Are they close to you or can they be anywhere and you have the hardware shipped there, but how do you configure and manage it? I have been thinking of having my stuff hosted but dunno the cost to reward for such small miners while I am trying to grow more. I live in BFE so there is no CoLo anywhere withing several hundred miles at the very least.

Thanks, that was a helpful explanation.  I've been reading about the exchanges and other coins (mostly ETH and LTC) and I saw the big ETH crash last week.  Amazing to see the "wealth" vanish in a second.

I thought you might have been talking about trading on an exchange, but I thought maybe you had a successful method you'd be willing to share some hints!  Wink

I'll keep researching and may try to dabble in the markets a bit.  The idea of creating coins thru mining seems safer for my money than trying to buy low and sell high... I don't feel that lucky!

Thanks again

Haha, well buy low and sell high is pretty much the end game. Watch for trends and learn when something is going to go up after it has gone down. Usually a currency will drop (theoretically say 100) it will usually rise back up again 50 before it either continues to drop again or continues to go up. Here is an example (each yellow arrow is the approximate 50% bounce after a drop) that is where you can make small amounts that add up (you buy at the low point and sell at the high bounce):

As you can also see, if you had this when it was a low price, you could of sold it for a pretty good profit at the middle before it went down. These long term waves happen on almost every Alt-Coin, almost every one. There are also a lot that never move and are usually delisted after a time.

Free hosting? I would suggest, and this is just me and what I do, without free hosting, is take the money I get from mining, move it to an exchange and trade in alt coins to make more Bitcoin, which I am getting really good at, and then use the coin to purchase another S9 when I can, rinse and repeat.

Morning All:

I'm new to this game but reading reading reading and learning a lot in just a few days.  This forum has been super helpful so thanks to all the veterans!  My one measly S7 is mining in KanoPool and it makes me excited to expand with S9(s) as soon as possible.

So... if you could explain what you mean above by trading in alt coins to make more BTC, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!

*** See, I can't even seem to post quotes correctly.  Rookie mistake!
[/quote]

Well, first off would be alt-coins. Those are all the other Crypto Coins out there that someone has created to be better, or have versatility, or have more anonymous features built in, or have features like smart contracts and stuff. Basically they started as a concept to compete against Bitcoin and do it better, or just try to make money on a growing market or whatever. People all have their own ideas on Alt Coins. But these are coins like Ethereum, Litecoing, Monero and 100's more (those are some of the most popular).

Next would be an Exchange. These are basically just Stock markets for alt-coin trading (and Bitcoin to USDT as well if you like). Poloniex, Bitcoin Exchange, BTCx, Kraken and many others. Once you setup an account there you can send your Bitcoin to them and then you can start trading. There are lots of ways to trade. Usually they have exchange markets for the main Alt-Coins. That would be like Monero as the base coin or Bitcoin or Ethereum or USDT (digital US Dollar).

But basically research what an Alt-Coin does, it's features, who uses it and why and then you can purchase them with the base coin, usually Bitcoin. The whole theory is to purchase them when they are low and sell when they are high. Most people do short term trading, but there are a lot of people that also do long term. Ethereum is a perfect example. It was up 4000 percent at one point last month, but all Alt-Coins were in a bubble while Bitcoin was going through the Segwit growth issue so people were investing in  the Alt-Coins just in case.

Anyway, I just watch the markets, read up on alt coins, watch to see if there are runs happening (when a lot of people start purchasing a coin and it goes up real fast) and try to purchase them when they are low and sell them when they get to a level I feel comfortable selling them before they start to go back down. I have actually made a lot of extra Bitcoin playing these markets, especially with Ethereum & Litecoin.

There are a lot of resources out there on them, I'd read up. Plus I think it's kind of fun. It's like playing the real stock market, without all the crazy brokerage fees and even if I don't make money every time, I always manage to grow my Bitcoin over time.

https://poloniex.com/ is the Exchange I use the most.

Everyone has their own opinions on these so don't take only my word for them a lot of people don't like alt coins and think they are scams, but I just play the markets to make more bitcoin and it's more fun than playing a video game or something which doesn't make you any money  Grin
340  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [75+PH] KanoPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA 🐈 on: July 08, 2017, 01:55:54 PM
How much (%) of your mining income (or profit) goes back into expanding/replacing mining capacity? I know mining is for people with money but I wonder what's the smallest investment that can actually be self-sustaining in mining?

Myself I have free hosting (paid in bulk by another business of mine). but even so, the total returns on my mining are not enough to get something more than an S7 after several months, an S9 at the moment would mean putting some of my own money into this..again. So I wonder how much I should set aside (10, 50%, 100%?) to replace old hardware like S4,S5.

Free hosting? I would suggest, and this is just me and what I do, without free hosting, is take the money I get from mining, move it to an exchange and trade in alt coins to make more Bitcoin, which I am getting really good at, and then use the coin to purchase another S9 when I can, rinse and repeat.

If you have free hosting then you have no electric to cover like I do so you should be able to get going in no time at all as at the current Bitcoin exchange rate an S9 costs about .41 Bitcoin.
