3221  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What is up with the Cold Card? on: December 20, 2022, 07:59:57 AM
To be honest the power only cable is just a gimmick. You can simply connect your coldcard to any phone charger that is plugged in the wall.
The cables that get shipped together with mobile phones and are part of the package allow you to charge your phone and also to transfer data to/from it. So, they aren't usually charge-only type of cables. The power-only cables don't have the necessary pins to transfer data, and that's the type of cable that Coinkite sells. Your phone's cable most probably does. Someone paranoid about their security would prefer a cable that doesn't have data transfer pins.

The creator of the wallet "Andreas Shildbach has provided a tutorial to extract the seed separately in a computer, using the file and the password, the result  displays the 24 words. The app itself does not show the seed in plain text, for security according to the developers.
That's good. If it works with 3rd-party apps and especially desktop devices, it means you are not dependent on the Shildbach wallet to stay operational.

The fee options are shown as: High, medium and slow.
The exact amount of say/vB is not detailed on app, only on explorers.
The sat/vByte data should be visible during the transaction creation process. I see no reason to not have it. Newbies and those not interested in entering the fee rates manually can be given a choice to select between high, medium, and slow confirmation times if they want. More advanced users surely want to know how much they are paying, especially considering how bad some wallets are in automatically selecting the fees.

Also, he can recover any coin using its private key using any other wallet in the event that the hard wallet, for example, is damaged, lost or stolen.
I don't have a Trezor hardware wallet, but if they are anything like Ledger, a user shouldn't even be able to see their private keys on the device or the native app. If you want to work with a specific private key, you would have to import your seed into the Ian Coleman BIP-39 site and get the data from there. But this is not recommended and significantly lowers the security of your seed.

3227  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Delayed payments on trustdice, possibly a scam. on: December 19, 2022, 02:50:41 PM
Late betting bans aren't uncommon in sports books.
That's right. Players can get banned or limited for it. And that's ok as long as the player actually did that. But you never provided one single example of a late bet from this person. Still, you took his money and made him look guilty and decided to play with words about who said what. The one example you posted, you failed miserably because according to the data that Poika5 found on a 3rd-party site, it was a legit bet placed 8-9 mins before the end of the match.

Who knows how many other players were and maybe still are treated in the same way, but they simply give up and don't scream as loud as Laki did. Maybe the $2k he withdrew is money confiscated from other innocent players in the period since this thread was started.

Get your shit together. You will have much more success long-term running a legit operation than being scammy.

- What are some current pain points in the crypto gaming/gambling space for players?
You like to take as much from our money as possible, and we like to take as much from the casino's bank as well. That's just normal. Considering that there are many more casinos, both online (fiat and crypto) and physical, it's fair to say that you and your colleagues are much more successful in taking our money than we are in taking yours. If you want to make a difference, give the players greater odds to win long-term.

- What would you like to see?
See above. Wink

3230  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Delayed payments on trustdice.win, UPD: TRUSTDICE SCAM, 2138$ USDT confiscated on: December 19, 2022, 02:17:12 PM
From what I am reading in this thread, coinbox1 really is unaware of how live betting works. Most site disable bets on a game in the last 2 minutes, so really it is impossible for a person to late bet or whatever. Now if Trustdice has an error in their site, then it's on them to fix it instead of trying to accuse users of cheating without providing real proof.
I didn't notice any errors. I mentioned two days ago in my previous reply that I followed the markets and the events as they were happening for a basketball match from Bulgaria. With 3 mins left in the last quarter, it was still possible to bet. But when the clock came close to 2 mins left, all the markets were closed and betting was no longer possible.

<Snip>
That's great news. I would personally take my business elsewhere if something like that happened to me. The bigger odds aren't worth it if nasty things like what you just experienced can happen again in the future. We also have Poika5 with an accusation against the casino whose case I will try to take a look at when I can.

Sportsbet.io has a good sportsbook. Instant deposits, bet boosters, promotions, the occasional free bets, and various betting competitions for the Bitcointalk community that you can take a look at in Games & Rounds.

Regarding the flags. I think the newbie flag (the first one you opened) should remain. It serves as a warning to everyone about what can happen at Trustdice.
You can remove support for the second one (Type 2 - violation of an agreement) if you have forgiven the injustice and financial damage done to you. You are the victim, so it's your decision. If you have forgiven the act, you need to remove support for the flag. If the victim is satisfied with the outcome, those who support the flag should according to my understanding be as well because we weren't personally affected.

The only other (alleged) victim we know of is Poika5. But since I am personally not familiar with what happened between him and the casino and would need to independently check his case and claims, I feel it's wrong and biased of me to keep supporting the flag. However, he could and still should. Or he can create his own flag just like you and see if he will get enough support for it.
3231  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Safepal hardware wallet review and opinions on: December 19, 2022, 09:05:09 AM
For and against open-source?

Open-source is generally better than closed-source, but not necessarily more secure. Open-source allows those who know what they are doing to inspect the codebase. If you can't do that yourself, you can have some comfort in the fact that someone else probably has. This is the case with popular open-source projects. But if we are talking about an unknown and unpopular open-source project, you can't really know who has taken the time to look at the code.

Open-source is a window that you can look through and see what is inside. There are no blinds preventing you to look.
Closed-source is a window with blinds and you can't see anything inside.

Illegal, immoral, wrong, and dubious activities can take place in both types of apartments. Those that have no blinds on the windows and those that do. When there are no obstacles blocking the vision, it is much easier to see what is happening, right? But you still need to recognize the activities to understand something wrong is happening. In other words, you need to understand how a piece of code works to understand what is not supposed to be there or how it's supposed to look. If you see a pile of white powder through the window with no blinds and you think it's powdered sugar, what good does it do that the windows have no blinds when the wrong set of eyes are looking in? What good does it do if you don't realize the code has a backdoor when you can't understand it.

Open-source allows you to verify the content (good or bad).
Closed-source doesn't allow you to verify anything. It can be good or bad, but you will never know and you are stuck trusting what the developers tell you.
3232  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Are my coins too safe? on: December 19, 2022, 08:44:00 AM
...you don't have to save any other files but of course you have to save your Trezor wallet login password to be able to access the hard wallet.
To avoid any confusion, are you talking about the PIN code that unlocks the physical device or the password to the Trezor Suite software? But whatever the case, these two pieces of data aren't essential and even if you forget them, you can still access and spend your crypto by setting everything up from the start.

If you forget your Trezor PIN code, you can reset the device to factory settings, import your seed, and set up a new PIN. The seed + any connected passphrases are essential. Nothing else is.
3233  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What is up with the Cold Card? on: December 19, 2022, 08:10:37 AM
The device is called a COLDCARD, not a Cold Card.
The homepage explains many things you need to know about this hardware wallet and contains links to other sources if you want to keep reading. If you want to buy this particular hw, you can use the promo code "CKBTC" to get a 5% discount if you pay with bitcoin. There might be other promo codes but this one pops up on the official site.

Judging by https://store.coinkite.com/store/coldcard, the USB cable is not part of the package if you purchase the 1st option that just includes the COLDCARD Mk4 for $147. I find that very weird to be honest. I guess you have to buy it separately. They do have a Power-Only USB-C Cable for $17.
I suggest you contact the support and ask them what the precise content of the shipped package is.
3234  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: d'cent hardware wallet questions and opinions on: December 19, 2022, 07:49:01 AM
D'cent biometric is not a common name here and that is perhaps no one gives you a clear review of them because no one uses that hardware wallet. It did not even list on this thread [1] which has 80+ hardware wallets so it is not a well-known hardware wallet.
[1] https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5282364.0
I am not sure what you were looking at, but the D'CENT Biometric Wallet is there in the OP. The D'CENT Card Wallet is also mentioned.

Anyways, that collection isn't being updated by Ratimov. If you are interested in the topic of hardware wallets, you can bookmark the translated version started by FatFork in our Croatian local board: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) That one is regularly updated. Even without an automatic translator, you should be able to understand the content in the table.
3235  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How To Recover Crypto worth 78k$ from Stolen Phone on: December 19, 2022, 07:38:34 AM
i give up on everything, struggled more then 10 days and no result, a friend of mine was knew about this place and he told me there must be some ones who can advise you.
There are plenty of good posts and threads on this board that can teach you how to protect yourself in the crypto world and what mistakes not to make. But if the damage is already done, which is the case with you, no one here or anywhere else can change what has happened and revert the transactions involving the stolen coins. But you can get help to make better choices in the future and prevent things like this from happening again.
3236  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Will Hardware Wallet Manufacturers Leak Customer’s Email Data? on: December 19, 2022, 07:28:39 AM
AFAIK, some providers allow you to label, auto-filter, and make a folder for e-mails coming from a specific domain.
That doesn't help me when it comes to spam emails. It could be useful for labelling the domains that send the official newsletters, but I can't possibly know where the spam could originate from and make a label for that.

Have you considered doing this experiment with another member? So, using a shared e-mail for example.
No, not really. What difference would it make to the results if two or three people were involved in the experiment and shared the email addresses? Or maybe it's a thing of trust? If two people said there were no spam messages or there were spam messages, it's more believable than if just one person claims it.

Thanks cygan! Gvardiol was great for most of the tournament. Excellent if we take into consideration that the lad is only 20 years old. If he stays injury-free, he will have a great career in front of him. It's incredible that our country that was founded in 1991 with the breakup of Yugoslavia already has 3 medals on the biggest of football stages in its young history.
3238  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: d'cent hardware wallet questions and opinions on: December 18, 2022, 06:42:35 PM
I will evaluate other options, perhaps a ledger nano S or a keepkey. thanks again everyone.
Too bad that you decided to gift your friend a hardware wallet as a present a few weeks after Black Friday. Had you come here a bit earlier, you could have taken advantage of a 30% discount on the good-old Trezor One and got if for around €50. The Ledger Nano S is no longer sold by Ledger on their officially shop. You might still find this device with some resellers though. If that's what you want, you can check this source for more information about their reseller network.
3239  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: what is the best crypto wallet for mobile? on: December 18, 2022, 06:32:29 PM
When I used it to create wallet directly on Bluewallet, I did not see anything like I should include passphrase.
Maybe the option wasn't there back when you tested it out. Maybe they added it later or you forgot to activate the advanced options.

I import a seed phrase from Electrum to Bluewallet with the advance option checked, it did allow the import of seed phrase with passphrase requested for too. But no option to do that when using Bluewallet to generate keys and addresses directly.
That's kind of weird. Why would they allow you to extend an imported seed with a passphrase but not allow the same thing with one natively created through their own wallet? Have you tried generating a new Blue Wallet native seed, delete the wallet, and then recover that same wallet from seed with advanced options enabled to get to the part where they allow you to add a passphrase? I guess when you do that, you can keep using the new addresses from the passphrase-protected wallet from that point on. It would be worth trying it out.

We also have that well-known online wallet that has the word "free" in its name, which only confirms that quite a few users think in a similar way, because unfortunately many use it and have big problems because of it.
Aren't there two wallets that are called Freewallet, where the one is an awful scam while the other is relatively unknown?
3240  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: what is the best crypto wallet for mobile? on: December 18, 2022, 09:56:20 AM
I still prefer Electrum because I have not seen an option that Bluewallet support passphrase.
Passphrases can be added in Blue Wallet if you activate advanced mode in the settings. It's explained somewhat here.
Blue Wallet also has a Plausible Deniability feature where you can set up a fake wallet. In case of a $5 wrench attack, you can unlock that fake wallet with your secondary password and not reveal the main one.
