New country harboring alot of the hashpower, from the majority of Chinese exporting their mining equipment there, same tactics.

Is it? When the internet was down, all that lot of hash power... was not missing...
Dependent on the pools they were mining too.
You can check the CN pools that their customers were having them mine too.
They are hosting the Chinese equipment after all so the pool's hashpower could be directed to those top of the chart mining pools.
Or just maybe the Chinese mining companies got smart and distributed their hashpower to another pool.
Who the **** knows except for them.
Rule No.1: Never underestimate of what they can do to what you know. As with anything in life. Wink

This is not a good sign to have the total hashpower centralized like this.
I was expecting you know better than this.
The Kazakhstan "internet is down" business was shown plenty of times - with actual data - that it's based on fake news. There was no significant hash rate drop, hence there's not much of concentration of hash power in that country.

Even if that FUD went overly successful, I think (hope?) that traders are not so dumb to be fooled by same FUD twice.
So the Kazakhstan FUD is no different than the China FUD which had been going on for years. China banning bitcoin then the price drops until it didn't.

New country harboring alot of the hashpower, from the majority of Chinese exporting their mining equipment there, same tactics.

Does anyone know the requirements for the 4-3 free? I was just about to lock my predictions for the next match and it seems like they've added a bet requirement for the entries.
Hopefully, the bet requirement is only for the AFCON rounds.

Place a bet on any event in the amount of $10 or more and after the bet is calculated you will be granted access.
This is a normal practice ... after all, Sportsbet encourages active users in this way.  Wink
Didn't realize they had a bet requirement until ralle14 mentioned it.
Went to the 4-3-free promotions page and was able to enter in with that sign in red showing, so it shows there even though you are eligible to enter.
Only because I had a bet late yesterday for the AO they took it as my bet required.

I guess the Afcon promo only pays out if your team actually wins in Regular or Extra Time,,, I have Egypt on my promo and despite that they progressed to the next round, I did not get any freebet to play with. This is such a shame, to pick such a great team and only they won once in 4 games!

Good luck to ralle and buway for their Senegal pick. Best scenario is for Egypt to meet Senegal and we all get as many chances to win as possible.
Yes, Mo Salah and Egypt didn't do much in this tournament and they were a disappointment for many.
Senegal is doing alright and they should go all the way to the finals the way the other teams are performing. Surprising for a side which only scored 3 goals all tournament long.

Kazakhstan is now really surprised many. I think this is a pretty interesting moment in the history of cryptocurrencies.
What does this have to contribute to the topic?

Also for the post where they mentioned this has been discussed before, yes. During the political unrest and when China mining companies were moving their operations to the country, not to the result of what came after with the government saying it is a strain their electrical system and then cutting off internet access.
Yet if you do read on to the very next post I did, you can view the dates of the videos and when they were published (and when I actually viewed the news story from the BBC news report as mentioned in the OP):
There was some thing on BBC news recently about Kazakhstan and their involvement in the bitcoin currency mining boom going on just behind the US since China has banned it.

Please explain how (even if the news is true) Kazakhstan cutting power to some small miner (because 50k USD bitcoin mine is small) has caused the price to drop.
How would that play out technically, enlighten me.

From the article:
Quote
Kazakh miners—especially those previously based in China—will need to buy different types of energy transformers in order to be able to operate in the US, and waiting times for transformers are now around six to 12 months, Doctor says.

Big deal... My neighbor was building a house and filed all the paperwork. That was a year ago and he's still running an extension cord from one of the neighboring houses to his new house because the company did not have the time to run a cable, and we're in the EU. I assume that in Kazakhstan you need to pass money under the table to get expedite things.
This is pertaining to many facilities and not just one small miner as you put it.
View the video from which I am referring to the facility which cost them a mere $50k USD but would cost much more in the states for the exact same amount of kilowatts to produce in hashpower. Thus is why China mining companies have moved more of it's mining equipment there than to the US. The cost of electricity is alot less.

This is not a good sign to have the total hashpower centralized like this.
Its not centralised per say, at least not in the way the BBC is implying it's. Bitcoin isn't really effected by singular nations, that's evidenced by the recent bans by bigger countries than Kazakhstan, and the impact it had. Even, when China turned its attention towards Bitcoin, and disallowed certain things with it, it just meant more, and more Chinese people were interested in Bitcoin.

Remember, that restrictions imposed by governments don't always hurt Bitcoin, and can actually have a positive effect on it. In this case, it just seems like more hostility from the BBC or at least spinning a story in an attempt to influence people's opinion on it.

The only argument that might be considered seriously in terms of centralisation, and Bitcoin would be stating that the pools have a large share of the network hashrate, which is partially true. Though, I think that's a conversation left for another day.
True.
The pools hashrate determines how much of the network usage could first be considered as centralized. But everyone knows China had a significant amount contributed to it before the ban. So where did they move it all too? Texas/Ekibastuz, they both have contracts with miners from China.
BBC news article released a few days prior to the one referred to for this discussion of the matter.

There was some thing on BBC news recently about Kazakhstan and their involvement in the bitcoin currency mining boom going on just behind the US since China has banned it.
There was a recent investor who claims to have spend $50k to start one up in just 5 days.
But now the government have started to seen this and has used 8% more of electricity used for the country so has tried to stop it.
With shutting down the internet for some days this month has shown a slow down in the network and thus the dip in price.
This is not a good sign to have the total hashpower centralized like this.

Have your say.

Jake did not open eyes. It was well knows fact boxers earn a lot. By looking on their lifestyle, it was clear that top boxers swim in money. When I was a kid a had a poster of Mike Tyson with white tiger and a luxury car Cheesy They did not earn millions, but money that time had different buying power. Hundred thousand in 90s was like several millions today. But what Jake did, he showed mma fighters that they can earn more in a fight against blogger, instead of training for years, competing for years and being a champion. He showed that money is more valuable than being a champion or have a reputation.
Boxers do make alot more than these other entertainment associations due to the fact of them winning a "purse".
And this is not what Dana White has available to his fighters in the organization.
I believe he planned it this way from the very start when he became president back in 2001 and basically took it over from Art Davie and Rorion Gracie.
So he makes all the rules and if you don't like he tells them to **** off just like he had with Francis when he didn't put the belt on him after the fight nor attend the post fight press conference.

^^
The playoffs are crazy time in the NFL and no matter how much research you do and think you know of the teams before they play, it won't really matter.
Because anyone can win on any given day.
They made a movie about american football with a similar name.

Just to update here, Senegal won their 2nd match, so I got my second freebet today. It was for Blackjack again and instead of putting all 0.2mbtc on 1 hand, I decided to split it on main hand and on dealer bust.
After seeing Cape Verde get a red card mid way through the first half it already felt like a win but at the same time I don't like how they're taking so long to score though.  Grin

For my second free chips I got 0.3 mbtc winning 3/4 rounds after playing the 0.2mbtc free chip not bad considering I lost most of my rounds on the first free chip.

As long as Senegal wins the next one I might break even because win or lose means they still have another match for the third place decider worst case scenario they lose both but I hope they won't.
Those red cards in the Cape Verde match were early enough for Senegal to capitalize on in the match but they didn't.
With the likes of Mendy, Mane, Sarr and Mendy you would think they were alot of goals to come from this team but before this game they only scored one and it was a late goal from a penalty in their last match.
The Cape Verde side were playing with 9 men having those two red cards in the first half and early into the second (21'&57' mark) up until Mane scored at the 63' minute then went off due to a head injury with the goalkeeper.
So with only 3 goals in the tournament is a pretty poor performance as many from the AFCON coverage would agree. Yet they are favorites to go on to the semis in February.
Next matches are on Saturday with Gambia vs Cameroon and Burkina Faso vs Tunisia.

Congrats to you and buwaytress on the wins in blackjack from your free chips/free bets.

AFCON has a few more matches happening as Senegal are preparing to take the field and then Morocco later on today.
There was a special for over 1.5 goals and them to win at a pretty good price. So I took it.

@rdbase. Agreed. It was very unlucky for the Bills to lose because of a flip of a coin before overtime. I am not a fan, however, I am a fan of Josh Allen. It is another year that he was stopped by Mahomes in the playoff.

It also appears the results of the post season has created a clear road for the Chiefs to win the superbowl. The Bengals in the conference final and either the 49ers or the Rams for the superbowl. Let us be together to side with the Bengals and either the 49ers or the Rams in the hext games hehehehe.

In a coin flip do you ever pick tails? Most people would chose heads. But the bills did, so they lost. Would of liked to see what the bill could do with another possession but those are the rules in OT.

So here we have it. The final two matches to make up the teams to go on to the Super Bowl next month.
Check out the odds and you decide which team you will back to make it through:

Even won a small outlay on this to go all the way, which it certainly did. My money had always been flagging on for Gane, but his odds kept improving, so the value for me did not, ended up pocketing some decent change on Ngannou, instead of withdrawing I now more than doubled that change (yay).
Doubling up is a good thing in the UFC cause the matches can not last more than 25 minutes when it comes to 5 rounder like the Gane vs Ngannou one did, so your good there.
I had Francis at 2.29 but it did reach all the way up to 2.32 so those who got him at this price were laughing after the third round where he was just dominating Cyril and rode on to a win after that.

Called the right winners.
Only got the method of KO for Ngannou's win incorrect. Should have been decision.
Hope everyone did well if they placed bets on UFC 270.
Don't think anyone got the way the main event was going to end(to go the distance) except for buwaytress. Cheesy
I would imagine it was at around 3.60x. Well that is from what I recall it being to one point in the day.
3237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NFL Sportsbet.io discussion & predications thread rev on: January 24, 2022, 04:06:13 AM
That was the most dramatic match ever in a playoffs ever seen according to the announcer and he has been doing matches for some decades now.
Bills Allen and Mahomes were trading touchdowns in the last 2 minutes of the game where they scored 25 points and Davis had a record setting 4 touchdowns for Buffalo but still lost the match.
And the only home side and favorite to win this weekend in the divisionals.
Bengals will definitely have their work cut out for them next weekend for the AFC title in the east.
3238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / ESTCube (Estonian Student Satellite Foundation) to send one bitcoin to space on: January 24, 2022, 03:59:12 AM
"Yolo Group has partnered up with Estonian Student Satellite Foundation (ESTCube), who will help us send one Bitcoin to space! 🚀🛰️

ESTCube2 is a project ran by an Estonian satellite organisation made up of space enthusiasts and students. Their mission is to launch their new innovative satellite to space in Q4 2022.

The main goal of the ESTCube project is to develop, build and launch scientific nano-satellite missions. In addition to technical challenges, the project aims to promote and popularise science in schools and among the public.

Maarja Pärt, Yolo Group CEO said: “Finding innovative solutions has always been embedded in Yolo Group’s DNA and working with the ESTCube team has provided the perfect opportunity to do so.”

3239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My second purchase with bitcoin on: January 23, 2022, 07:13:44 PM
the first one, congrats to you, it was a good experience.
as long as I know bitcoin, I have never made direct transactions with foreigners to buy things using bitcoin. anyway, i just did it by exchanging bitcoin for fiat, and bought something. I made transactions like that long ago.
however, it might be quite interesting to use bitcoins directly to buy something. Unfortunately, in my country, bitcoin is prohibited as a medium of exchange, so I may find it difficult to do so. well, or can only buy digital products such as domains, hosting, and so on.
This is what most from earlier on thought that bitcoin was only good for: To buy digital type goods and services.
But now it is more well known to be used to make purchases of physical goods as more and more retailers are accepting it due to the use of services such as paypal payments and coinbase friend to friend payments which are without transaction fees.
Bitpay use be the only way to pay these retailers as this was the only way they knew how to make it to be able to accept such payments. But now there are services such as square (now known as block) and crypto.com(where available) to be able to make those payments seemless from crypto to fiat. So the retailers don't need to hassle themselves with the technical aspects of accepting cryptocurrencies as a form of payment.

Ciryl was no match for the power horse, and the battle was rather simple: Ciryl was running around the cage throwing some schoolboy leg. I believe it was worth watching since Nagannuo chose not to knock him out.

Ngannuo is the type of fighter who doesn't let losses get into his head or wins get into his heart; he takes fight after fight. Ciryl is quite good with his leg and head work, but Ngannaou's major upsets come from his power hand.
Now we looking forward to the Tyson Fury Challenge!!

@Welsh I do also like the odds for Gane. He is not someone to underestimate in this fight and potentially take it the distance.
But I am going to back Ngannou, as buwaytress has already mentioned, the hype is approaching so that should heighten the odds for Ciryl backers.
I hope you did not change your tips at any point like buwaytress did along the way after the Ciryl hyping by Welsh  Grin
I stuck to my original pick even though the hype therefore odds kept dropping for a Ciryl win.
I've posted videos of Ngannou through out the entire time upon the buildup to the fight.
He was just too much of a powerhouse to go against at anytime and his focus was not to be ignored.

Went with an Ngannou win and was only off by not having it end early as the odds for that to happen were 1.33x just before the fight. As everybody thought there would be a knock out from either of these heavyweights.

As for Tyson Fury. I did Francis in a few videos getting boxing tips from Mike Tyson circulating around so he just might move his skills over to the boxing ring if Mr. Dana White doesn't up his paygrade as a true champion, as this fight without a doubt has shown the world.
The championship title from Gane has been unified into his own belt now.
