3221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin isn't money and that isn't bad! on: October 29, 2020, 06:43:23 AM

Things I can't do with Bitcoin: Pay rent, pay my internet, pay my electric, pay my grocery bill, pay my pizza tab, pay my fine for my speeding ticket, pay for medical marijuana anywhere in Arkansas legally, and the list goes on and on.

Really depends on where you stay! In Arkansas, you really can't, but in Japan, you really can! You can even get your salaries in bitcoin (if you want)! So what you can't or what you can in Arkansas, doesn't really tell us what bitcoin can or can't! You may be in a wrong place!

Also don't you think you are asking a lot from a kid who is just 11 years old? Let him get adult and then we talk!

Bitcoin has just started maturing. We are seeing great interest coming from corporates around the world. Some have gone ahead and started keeping a minor percentage of the their cash reserve in bitcoin. The entire market is slowly maturing despite all odds it is facing from the regulatory agencies worldwide. So no one has the right to decide that bitcoin not a money by just its acceptability at grocery stores! Smiley
3222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cashless gaming now available in land-based casino in USA on: October 28, 2020, 05:29:42 PM
I don't know why it is a big step for land based casinos, because We are not sure whether they are going to use cryptos or not! Slot machines are anyways cashless, they are probably just replacing the chip with a qr code enabled wallet or similar sort of things! It will be a big news only if they decide to use cryptos in land based casino!

Additionally, I have seen few land based casinos re planning to bring their own gambling website. That's a big step indeed because during pandemic, people weren't able to visit the land based casinos which severely impacted their busines. They are now preparing for the future!
3223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports icons and Covid19 complications on: October 28, 2020, 02:42:08 PM
When a door closes, several other opens up! That's exactly what happened to Sports industry as well. Since they are not able to sell huge number of tickets, the price of broadcasting rights have gone up and the channel is seeking more money from the advertisers. So the money flow has not affected much. It's just the source has changed!

Definitely it's an entirely different experience to watch a football game live from the gallery than the TV. But that's the new normal I believe! Either we adopt or quarantine term is waiting for us!
3224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin price rise affect your gameplay? on: October 28, 2020, 02:36:22 PM
Hey guys,

As we all know, the Bitcoin is experiencing a decent price increase and it is slowly but steadily rising every day. Has it affected your gameplay somehow?
Some gamblers think if the price is so expensive it would be difficult to get profits.

How about you?

Cheers,
Karl
Bitcasino.io

Yes, indeed! Normal fluctuations in bitcoin price doesn't really affect, but definitely yes when I see such kind of price increase! Even though the market is again going down at the time of writing but my weekly budget in dollar value has increased due to the price rise. So I have playing with less units of bitcoin.

So for me, the price increase definitely affects my budget as I don't play with a lot of money anyhow. But I try to reduce the bitcoin units during such kind of price rise!
3225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to BTC if just a few whales will buy all left supply? on: October 28, 2020, 11:59:59 AM
There is 18.5 million BTC in circulation right now, more than 1 million BTC is lost or in dormant addresses, the biggest crypto funds and exchanges keep buying it. What happens if just a few whales will buy and control them all?

Yes, if the whales can spend around $248 billion, then they can own al bitcoin currently circulating in the market, which is highly unlikely to happen! Also if onsly a handful of whales own all bitcoins, there will no circulation of bitcoin within the market so bitcoin will be pretty much dead. No one would want to invest in a dead currency so bitcoin's value will become zero! So whales will not get any profit out of it, so they wouldn't do that either! Hope it makes sense!
3226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Binance in a risk of being shut down? on: October 28, 2020, 05:35:05 AM
Nah! I don't think Binance is at risk of being shut down anytime soon! Also the 2 BTC withdrawal limit is huge, if I am not wrong, then Binance used to have a tier based withdrawal system where the new accounts are automatically placed at the lowest tier which used to have the 1 btc trading volume allowance. Has it been changed recently? I don't see any email came from Binance regarding this change! (Probably because I have a KYC verified account)

But that doesn't mean Binance will be closed down by the government. However, regulation is inevitable! Not only on Binance but on crypto market. Sooner or later, regulation will take place to curb the illegal crypto activities! Binance is not alone to face such risk!
3227  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: BitOffer QA wealth management on: October 27, 2020, 04:54:48 PM
The website is not opening. However, looking at the facebook screenshot, we can safely assume that it is a ponzi scam and the owner is trying to make some easy pocket money!

Even in 2020, I wonder how people till easily fall prey into such scams! A person with sound mind will never invest in such things but when greed takes over the mind, shit happens!
3228  Other / Archival / Re: European institutional investors are interested in cryptocurrencies on: October 27, 2020, 02:37:28 PM
This trend has just started and I am sure it will gain more and more traction in coming years! Corporates have started understanding the impact of cryptocurrencies and at the same time looking for some astronomical profit out of it! So it's not surprising that the trend will continue for years to come.

Apart from EU, I am sure a lot of other corporates are interested in similar kind of investment. But the lack of favorable law is holding them off. Let's hope for the situation to change for better!
3229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: British Fintech firm to start physical crypto bank branches in India on: October 27, 2020, 12:03:05 PM
Cashaa, a British Fintech company has announced on 26 October  that they are going to start 34 physical bank branches by partnering with "United Multistate Credit Cooperative Society" to build a crypto friendly banking service called UNICAS. Indians can safely operate a savings account to buy, sell and store crypto assets there!

Yup, very safely! These are the guys that were storing their coins in blockchain's web wallet.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5261610.0
I'm pretty sure everyone will be thrilled to store their coins "safely" with them, not even mentioning that their token has dropped 86% from the ICO price.

That being said, your you store your coins with these guys?

Lol! I got the sarcasm! Personally I don't prefer web wallets to store my bitcoins but I am thinking from a different perspective! India is a country if 1.3 billion population so it is obviously a very lucrative market for all kind of businesses. Also despite the odds, if they can successfully execute the plan, it will be a big milestone for the crypto communities in India because it has a Bank involved in it!

Normal middle class citizens don't want to invest into something unless it is offered by a Bank. That's the normal mindset of average Indians! I hope this partnership will bring some good news in terms of acceptability and mass penetration!
3230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / British Fintech firm to start physical crypto bank branches in India on: October 27, 2020, 06:02:41 AM
The news is a bit of a surprise to me but if it happens, it wil be great!

While the parliamentary members are planning to ban cryptocurrencies in India, this news is indeed a surprise to me! Do you think it will become a reality?

3231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Max Keiser interview prediction of bitcoin change after US election and more on: October 26, 2020, 06:50:01 PM
Max Kaiser's thoughts on the fact that defi projects are a carefully repackaged scam - I more than agree on that. Of the hundreds of these projects, only a couple of percent will actually be needed. The rest is junk that nobody needs. Regarding the rapid rise in the price of bitcoin if Biden is elected, I am sure that whoever gets elected, bitcoin will still grow quite quickly. Regardless of whether it is Biden or Trump will remain for a second term.

I second this opinion- Defi projects are actually carefully re-packaged scam! Since the ICO market has lost all its credibility, scammers are now active in Defi market and we have already seen few exit scams! So we surely need to avoid defi market for good! People need to learn trading instead!

Also, I wonder how US presidential election will effect the bitcoin price at all! I know Biden had asked for bitcoin donations back in 2015, but that does mean that he may also be aware of the risks! It could bring in more regulations around cryptocurrency if Biden wins! So there is no clear indication on what will happen if Biden wins! Let's not be over confident!
3232  Local / India / Re: Ethereum Investment Schemes are again active in India on: October 26, 2020, 05:40:39 PM
The problem in India is that, people are not much educated about cryptos. A lot of people have heard the name of few cryptocurrencies but don't know how to invest in that. These MLM companies are exactly exploiting this loophole! There are few other MLM companies who claims to have created new cryptocurrencies and selling those to the common mass.

But when 2 crore Indians have lost jobs, illegal activities are expected to rise!
3233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Abra CEO's portfolio is 50% Bitcoin as cash is 'becoming worthless' on: October 26, 2020, 04:42:05 PM
"Cash is becoming worthless" -  is a very strong statement! We are very little compared to the traditional finances in almost all parameters. Be it volume, usability, acceptance and so on...

I am sure Abra CEO has seen a great potential in bitcoin and hence he had invested 50% of his portfolio into bitcoin. But that doesn't make traditional finances look bad. We are seeing demand in the market and hence bitcoin's value is appreciating. It's a normal demand supply rule! That doesn't make cash worthless!
3234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulation possible? Regulation Inevitable? on: October 26, 2020, 10:53:34 AM
In 10 years, knowledge about Bitcoin will be mainstream.
But will enough people have adapted to this mainstream by then?

Once it has become mainstream, a group of countries - or even the IMF itself - could regulate all access to Bitcoin. Tracking coins and banning the sale of coins for fiat by exchanges if they come from certain regions ( exchanges, wallet suppliers). Illegalization of the exchange of Fiat for Bitcoin, with the regulation again targeting exchanges as entry points.

This regulates Bitcoin itself.

Is this possible?
How can we defend Bitcoin against it?

I wouldn't see a blanket ban is forthcoming on bitcoin by international regulatory bodies like IMF or World Bank. However, regulation is inevitable! It may not happen in 1-2 years timeframe but eventually it will come our way if we really want to see bitcoin as a mainstream currency!

I am not sure why a defed is needed anyhow because that's what we all want to see, right?? If regulation isn't here, then bitcoin will never become a mainstream currency!
3235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kucoin Launched P2P Trading for BDT( Bangladeshi Tk) on: October 25, 2020, 11:53:20 AM
Today Kucoin officially launched P2P Trading for BDT. It's a great news for Bangladeshi Crypto Community. But I have some questions going around in my mind.

Officially bitcoin and crypto is banned by Bangladesh government and the central bank of Bangladesh which is Bangladesh Bank(BB). So, if I need to do P2P with BDT, I need to do bank transactions for that. Now how that will happen? How Kucoin will manage it. We can't do bank transactions in crypto related websites.
What's your opinion on it?

Be very very careful before you plan to exchange your bitcoin to Bangladeshi currency. I know it is officially banned in Bangladesh so people may end up in legal trouble for undertaking such activities! I am not sure how kucoin p2p trading works, but if there's any cash settlement option without going through the banking route, use that! Also if you want to do the trading through banks only, make sure to do it with small amounts. That may not trigger an alarm!
3236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK Company adopts Bitcoin as treasury reserve assets on: October 23, 2020, 04:16:45 PM
I really don't want to be the party pooper here, but if anyone is expecting a huge amount of money from this one company, then sorry to say that it's really not that much. 10% of their cash reserves are only a total of around £72200/$94,365; at least based on their June filings[1]. It's approximately a BTC7.27 at today's prices.

Not that much money, but at least the publicity is good so there's that.

Money is an important aspect most definitely, but I believe it's a great move conidering a company is entrusting a percentage of their asset on bitcoin. I think the confidence is what matter really in this case! 7 bitcoins are not really huge but the context is that corporates are gaining confidence on bitcoin! I think it really matters because every new change starts with a baby step. Companies have just started taking that! So that is important here, not the monetary value!
3237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 24 eth instead of 24 usdt....What Will You Do If.......? on: October 22, 2020, 07:33:58 PM
Greetings bitcoiners

I asked this same question in one other crypto forum but am yet to get answers, so am bring the same question here for your opinions and thoughts

So for example, you sold an altcoin for usdt in one of this semi decentralized exchanges that claim to be fully decentralized, you sold your altcoin and got a total of let's say 24 usdt, you then place a withdrawal of that full amount, instead of the exchange sending you 24 usdt, for some reason you and I don't know, they sent you 24 eth instead.

So my question is.. What will you do? Will you return the money?

And note.... This is not fictional, it happened for real to a crypto friend of mine.

So let's discuss.

I would straight away return the money after contacting the support team of that exchange. Because I strongly believe that if you haven't earned the money, you will never be able to digest the money! It just can't happen! Not today, not tomorrow but someday you will have to pay it back in other way or in other incident. People should use only that money which are rightfully theirs!

So without even thinking twice, I will return that 24 ETH to the exchange! There's no 2nd thought!
3238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think this is the start of mass adoption in Bitcoin? or Nah? on: October 22, 2020, 05:16:05 PM
Pypal's acceptance of cryptocurrency will definitely boost the confidence among the mass about cryptos! So yes, possibly we can call it a great push towards mass adoption. However, from what I know, paypal will not provide wallet services. It will just allow people to transact in cryptos through an intermediary.  I am not sure how it will work in reality but I guess it will definitely bosst the confidence of people! Let's hope for the best!
3239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is DeFi really a threat to centralized finance? on: October 22, 2020, 04:44:00 PM
I don't see Defi as a threat to the centralized finance but I see it as an opportunity to change for better! Defi is all about sharing risk together, as a stakeholder! Banks also have a Similar structure while lending to corporations which we call consortium of Banks. However, this model isn't followed for retail loans. But the way the world is moving, borderless banking will have to commissioned at some point of time in future!

I think, Defi model will bring in exactly that! Right now, we are not seeing it happening soon, but eventually it will take over!
3240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Momentum Builds for Bitcoin on: October 22, 2020, 06:26:17 AM
The developments around bitcoin eco system looks super positive right at this moment. The price is almost on the verge of breaking 12k barrier. I believe Paypal's recent announcement has given the much needed strength to bitcoin market because Paypal has over 346 millions of merchant in 200 countries. If they are able to use bitcoin starting from next year, I can simply think of the volume bitcoin will be getting from this. This is huge and a very important milestone for the community!
