The semi-final game taking place this evening:

Villarreal vs Liverpool

Liverpool are already winning the tie 0-2 courtesy of the first leg but this is the semi-final and anything can happen. I am not willing to write off Villarreal just yet but Liverpool are clearly on the brink of another Champions League final  Grin

Why are you always so neutral?
I try to look at the situation from as many perspectives as possible therefore come across as neutral  Grin

I thought you were a Liverpool fan, but I was mistaken; you don't support any of the top four teams in the league, but you watch and follow English football more. In my entire life, I've never seen a neutral fan Grin
There are many football fans that are neutral. They enjoy the game and can appreciate a good solid performance as much as a great attacking or defensive display without taking sides  Wink

The English side will win the league, they have taken over from the Spanish teams
I am not as confident as you. I think Real Madrid will win this competition.

The Spanish teams are very active in the transfer market right now, trying to get back on track, and I wouldn't be surprised if Messi returns to Barcelona.
It would be a surprise to see Messi leave PSG and return to Barcelona but he is not the same player he was 10, 7 even 4 years ago because of his age. Do Barcelona even want him back?

If Neymar is having problems at PSG it might be more likely to see him return to Barcelona instead of Messi and about Mbappe he could be on his way to Real Madrid.

RESULT:

Manchester United 3-0 Brentford

Too little too late from Manchester United, they deserved the win and could have won by a bigger margin but overall in the premier league standings they simply were not good enough. Brentford were not daunted by the prospect of playing at Old Trafford, they played very well and caused Manchester United problems but ultimately failed to score when they had opportunities.
3244  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: May 02, 2022, 12:44:31 PM
Here is the only game taking place today:

Manchester United vs Brentford

This should really be a home victory but Manchester United standards have dropped so low now that a rampant rejuvenated Brentford are able to go to Old Trafford and win.

I believe Leeds will be relegated, while Burnley and Everton will survive.
I am not so sure as you about Leeds being relegated. On current form Burnley deserve to remain in the premier league but Everton do not. I think Leeds play better football than Everton but all three teams are going to fight until the last game because all of them want to stay in the premier league.

3246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING FURY WON IN ROUND 6 ]: FURY vs WHYTE - THE FIGHT on: May 02, 2022, 09:31:22 AM
As far as Fury is concerned, how would taking that fight and winning it improve his legacy?
Well if he beats more people he's only going to cement his legacy. I think walking away now is a bit of a cop out when there's still a good few fighters he hasn't fought. Usyk would probably be the trickiest for him but if he beats him and unifies all the belts that's another huge career milestone. He could then walk away and vacate having nothing else left to prove. With or without the belts the AJ match it still the fight Brits want to see. It would be even better with the belts though.
I think the opposite. For me, Fury does not have to beat Joshua for the sake of his legacy.

With the belts, Joshua needs Fury both a big massive pay day and the opportunity to get hold of his belts. If he wins he will brag about it and if he gets beaten he will play it the same way he did when he was beaten by Ruiz and Usyk. Without the belts, Joshua would not want to get in to the ring with Fury because he knows he will face another defeat.

Keeping these opinions aside, what do you think the outcome of a Fury vs Joshua fight will be?
3247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: May 01, 2022, 08:22:51 PM
Having new owners will not mean it bring immediate success for Chelsea but Lukaku needs to be offloaded because he is not a player suited to Chelsea and they need to rebuild their defence before the beginning of next season otherwise they will finish outside the top 4.

Chelsea should determine their new owners as soon as possible and fill the place of the players who will leave already, to a certain extent with the coach Thomas Tuchel. Players are completely out of shape, probably due to management uncertainty. All sorts of negativities happened to Chelsea this year. They started the league very well, injuries and covid broke the team. Incidents about Russia also affected horribly the club. Lukaku also certainly didn't help. I believe that with the new owner, they can get their hands on the trophies again. There are players that need to go.

RESULTS:

Everton 1-0 Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Leicester City

West Ham United 1-2 Arsenal

How on earth did Chelsea get beaten by Everton? Regardless, well done to Everton for getting 3 points but I think they will be relegated because Burnley are a better team. Tottenham and Arsenal both won their games and have made the 4th place finish more interesting because if Chelsea drop more points then it could be a race for 3rd and 4th between Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Here is the current premier league table after the games played today:

I will never forgive this club if they finish lower than Arsenal/Tottenham this season. We have been dreadful at the back for the past fucking 5 games now, making the same mistake every fucking game. How do professional footballers get into the habit of making the same stupid mistake over and over? We are now a charity organization; we played Arsenal, Manchester United, and Everton at their worst and took only one point out of a possible nine. The FA Cup is coming up, and our defenders are playing so poorly that I'm scared.

Rudiger's head is already in Madrid.
The difference between Chelsea in 3rd and Arsenal in 4th is just 3 points now. Even Tottenham are just 5 points behind Chelsea. What ahs gone wrong with them?

To be fair Rudiger was not the only player who was not focused. Look at their captain Azpilicueta, he allowed Everton to score because he made a disastrous error.
3250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: May 01, 2022, 08:18:50 AM
Here are the games taking place today Sunday 1st May 2022:

Everton vs Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester City

West Ham United vs Arsenal

Everton do need all 3 points to send a signal to Burnley that they will fight them to avoid relegation but at the very least Everton need a point from this very difficult game. If Tottenham beat Leicester and at the same time if West Ham draw with or beat Arsenal, then Tottenham move in to the 4th champions league spot.

4 remain matches until the finish, I believe in the next 2 games, both The city and  Liverpool will make the significant the different point, 1 different point is not so long if one of them creates an achievement like being a champions league final. Because they must focus on events at a high level. Kloop is not have enough experience as Pep (Barcelona is often a double winner), so that is possible Liverpool will give that title to Manchester city. IMO
With 4 games to go Manchester City know they will be crowned champions if they win their games. For Liverpool to have any chance to be crowned champions league champions they must win their remaining 4 games and hope Manchester City drop points. I believe Manchester City will be winners
3251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: April 30, 2022, 06:33:13 PM
RESULTS:

Newcastle United 0-1 Liverpool

Aston Villa 2-0 Norwich City

Southampton 1-2 Crystal Palace

Watford 1-2 Burnley

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-3 Brighton and Hove Albion

Leeds United 0-4 Manchester City

In the early kick-off Liverpool went top of the premier league table with a win at Newcastle but Manchester City returned back to the top after beating Leeds at Elland Road.

Before the games were played today, Liverpool held a +4 goal difference advantage over Manchester City and when they went top of the table with a 0-1 win at Newcastle it increased to +5 but Manchester City thrashed Leeds 0-4 which means it is down to just +1 now.

Here are the games taking place today Saturday 30th April 2022:

Newcastle United vs Liverpool

Aston Villa vs Norwich City

Southampton vs Crystal Palace

Watford vs Burnley

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Brighton and Hove Albion

Leeds United vs Manchester City

Burnley have an opportunity to put more pressure on Everton if they can get a win at relegated Watford. Everton are in the relegation zone 2 points behind Burnley having played one game less but if Burnley win today they will be 5 points ahead.

If Liverpool win they go 2 points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table and if they draw they both will have 80 points but Liverpool will be top because they have a +4 goal difference.

Manchester City play at Leeds with a 5.30pm kick-off. Both teams have 5 games remaining.

Mathematically it is simple: if Manchester City win their remaining 5 games they will be premier league champions. Also if Everton win their remaining 6 games they cannot be relegated.

Alonso is not moving. He's now the only back-up LW, and Tuchel likes him, so I don't see him leaving in the summer. Rudiger has yet to sign an official contract with Real Madrid, but it is already a done deal. At £400k per week, he will be the highest-paid defender. At the very least, he deserves it.
Thank you for the correction, you are right it seems he will be staying at Chelsea for the start of the next season.

3255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: April 29, 2022, 09:53:27 AM
The lack of a clinical finisher is the only reason we shared a point tonight; we should have led at least 4-0 in games like this; we dominated the entire game; the only reason Manchester City and Liverpool are ahead of us is that they both have good finishers, whereas we rely on defenders to win games. I can't wait for the new owner to join the team and support the coach this summer. Next season, we must close the gap between Liverpool and Manchester City.
Chelsea made a huge mistake signing Lukaku, he has been short of fitness, focus, goals and assists. If they had a real consistent goal scorer they would have fully challenged Manchester City and Liverpool for the premier league crown.

Now Chelsea are in a difficult situation because even if they buy a prolific striker for next season they will be without Rudiger, Alonso and Christensen therefore their defence will need a rebuild too. They will retain Reece James who is a good player with so much potential but Chelsea need to rebuild fast otherwise they will go down the failed decade wilderness that Manchester United are in after Ferguson retired.

I don't know exactly with this result, is MU's defense is very good or attacker Chelsea is bad?, when I look at the statistic, the ball position is leaning toward to Chelsea, MU uses a counter-attack strategy and tend to survive maybe because they have weakness on front and can not confrontation with Chelsea defender. The midfielder also has difficulty supplying the ball to the forward, so if this keeps happening, we can't see new coach Tan Hag in the next champions league.
Maybe the best thing for Manchester United next season will be to concentrate on the premier league. If they are out of the champions league then that could be the best thing for them while Erik ten Hag tries to rebuild this failing team. If they put out their strongest teams for all their premier league games and field tactical teams for domestic cup and European competitions (to rest their important players for the premier league) then ten Hag might be able to revive the team.

Chelsea's attackers were terrible, and Manchester United's defense is very easy to break down, but De Gea is a difficult goalkeeper to beat; he made some incredible saves today. After about 17 appearances, Ronaldo scored his first EPL goal against Chelsea
Chelsea should have won the game even with their lack of strikers, that is how good a team Chelsea are. As for De Gea if he were not in goal I think Manchester United would have lost many more games and dropped more points.
3256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FOOTBALL: UEFA Champions League 2021/22 Season on: April 28, 2022, 09:50:00 PM
The away goals rule was always contentious but it was widely accepted because teams playing home and away could always factor it in when playing but it seemed unfair. Penalties after extra-time might not be the best way to find a winner either but it is better than the away goals rule.

As it stands we are looking forward to two semi-finals with their second leg games with two English teams and two Spanish teams trying to win this competition. It is such a difficult competition to win, I wish all four teams the best in their attempts to reach the final  Grin

The away goals rules ruined the beautiful game for a long time, so I'm glad they were removed; now, only the best team with the most goals will advance, and no team will sit back looking for an away goal.

3257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: April 28, 2022, 09:41:53 PM
RESULT:

Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea

You were right, Chelsea did not take away all 3 points. What a goal by Alonso to give Chelsea the lead then what a goal by Ronaldo to equalise. I think Chelsea dominated for long periods of the game and should have won.

Winning at Old Trafford is not as easy as you think, we are the favourites on paper but I don't see us getting the full three points tonight, we have been in a good position for the last five years against Manchester United at Old Trafford but results don't always go our way so I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens tonight. Can we break the old Manchester curse tonight? Let's see what happens.
3258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING FURY WON IN ROUND 6 ]: FURY vs WHYTE - THE FIGHT on: April 28, 2022, 09:35:54 PM
Despite what Fury might say about legacy, I believe he cares about it more than he would lead you to believe. If he gets offered that Joshua fight with or without the belts, I think he'll take it.
As far as Fury is concerned, how would taking that fight and winning it improve his legacy?

Usyk beats Joshua, unless Joshua wakes up, and goes back to what made him, i.e adopt the more risker brawling type style, ever since he got clipped by Ruiz in their first fight he has been reluctant to get into those exchanges, which ultimately has negatively effected him as a boxer. Joshua isn't highly technical, and I'm not sure why he would pretend to be.
I noticed that too. In the Ruiz II fight and against Pulev then Usyk, it seemed as though Joshua was not wanting to either unleash massive punches (hit or miss) or get in to those close fighting positions. He may have won the rematch against Ruiz but he still seems to be affected by what happened.

There's a path to beating Usyk, but I'm afraid it has to be via knockout. There isn't any other way for Joshua. Fury on the other hand could knock him out or very well just out point him. Joshua doesn't have that in his locker.
You are right, Joshua will probably not beat Usyk on a points decision and he does not have what Fury can do which is win by knockout or a points decision. When it comes to Joshua, even if he is in the best pre-Ruiz loss shape of his career he will not be able to defeat Usyk as long as Usyk is mentally focused on the fight and that is because Usyk is technically far too good for Joshua.
3259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: April 28, 2022, 09:31:19 AM
Chelsea are favourites to win the game because they are a better team than Manchester United, it is that simple. I would not be surprised if Manchester United get a footballing lesson and lose 0-3 because that is how far Chelsea are ahead of them. If Manchester United win it will put them back in to the race for a top 4 finish.

I have surprised about the bet, All stakes leaning toward Chelsea as a guest, Maybe because MU's performance does not make people confident. As an unstable club, sometimes they play well but at other times are playing as a promotion club. in the next match, I believe MU will make them hard on old Trafford. as a habit, if they lost the game before, they will make a win next, But again, as an unstable club, they might lose if still didn't focus on defense or less teamwork from each line, even with or without Maquire.

Result from the second semi-final yesterday:

Liverpool 2-0 Villarreal

Well, since your last post Liverpool went on to beat Villarreal 2-0 therefore a Manchester City vs Liverpool final looks the most probable outcome on paper but let us see what happens in the return fixtures when both English teams will be playing in Spain.

@JollyGood I have a complete opposite prediction it’ll be Manchester City vs Liverpool and it’ll be a premier league finale.
