3241  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Major defeat toward my plan to drop my bank on: August 10, 2015, 03:29:24 PM
Elwar I'm sorry but that looks like a real scammy internet site.
How did you find out about them?

Several news sources:
http://www.newsbtc.com/2015/02/17/exclusive-interview-billpayforcoins/
http://cointelegraph.com/news/113942/how-to-get-your-mom-to-use-bitcoin
https://vimeo.com/118973760

I've seen a few trusted people on the forums say that they used the service and it worked. They were actually doing what they claimed to do for quite a while.

Scams usually work like that. They do a bit of a good job for a while so they can get good rep, then they take the money and run.
I remember your old thread. I don't remember about the taxes part tho. How do you deal with taxes? do you have your bitcoin stack taxed?
3242  Economy / Speculation / Re: Multiplying the price by 10 after each halving, is it right ? on: August 09, 2015, 03:26:58 PM
Those are just speculations,  a 25x price increase seems too optimistic. After the halving of 2016 the price of bitcoin will definitely  rise since the supply will be cut by half.

That will be the case if the demand stays at least the same, which im assuming that will be it, if not higher. IT should be higher since a year from now in the bitcoin world is an eternity and lots of things can happen. Things are evolving fast and it's easy to miss on important stuff unless you are monitoring new sites and reading forums all day.
3243  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there any technical reason why the price of bitcoin might rise or fall ? on: August 09, 2015, 03:25:17 PM
No matter what, it all comes down to demand. The price is heavily manipulated, but ultimately we need demand, if the demand is big enough, the marketcap raises and the whales have a more difficult time trying to manipulate he price.
With a marketcap thats smaller than Uber, the big early whales are swimming in a pool.
3244  Economy / Economics / Re: Super Thursday: Bank of England votes 8-1 to hold interest rates on: August 09, 2015, 03:22:52 PM
There's no point in holding any relevant amounts of money in fiat anymore in any society. Maybe it seems the dollar will have a deflationary period soon, but who knows what follows after that. Stay in gold, silver and BTC imo, to hold any decent wealth. And maybe some decent stock such as Tesla.
3245  Other / Politics & Society / Re: New virus created that can completely wreck Apple computers on: August 09, 2015, 03:18:42 PM
Such is the life on closed software. If you are using Bitcoin, im hoping you are using Linux as well. Why would you trust closed software to guard your coins? At least im hoping that you dont update from Win7 to Win10 which is surveillance central.
3246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I doubled my bitcoin in last 3 months. How do you make money(bitcoin) online? on: August 09, 2015, 03:14:42 PM
I would be wary of any PMs sent by OP. If he wants to share something on how he made it he should make it here in public IMO.
3247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who thinks Gavin Anderson knows who Satoshi is? on: August 09, 2015, 03:04:31 PM
Do you think Gavin has knowledge of who or how to reach Satoshi?

I think he does, why would he have the alert keys if it wasnt the case? He's also one of the main rumored guys to be satoshi along with nick sziabo. No one of this changes anything tho, at the end of the day is just speculation and we are getting nowhere without any relevant proof.
I wish Satoshi can reveal himself (if he is really one man, if 'he' is an organization or a group I think it is better to keep status quo).
If people find out that he is not a part of NSA or any government agency, then stupid argument that bitcoin is in reality project to fuck with us will go away.
Additionally for creating innovation like blockchain and bitcoin he could even receive a Nobel Prize, that would be huge for promotion of bitcoin.

I think it benefits no one if Satoshi went public. As soon as he went public, he would be judged, and mainstream media would start dropping headlines to try to damage Bitcoin with something negative related to him, and everyone has done something negative in his life, so they would try to find that and attack Satoshi with that, whatever it is.
If he remains anonymous, the figure of Satoshi cannot be attacked beyond speculation.
3248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: It's the next natural step on: August 09, 2015, 02:54:10 PM
Not sure if you took a standard teenager from the street,
that the person would know what the thingy in the middle is Cheesy
Speaking of obsolute things, where does the "checkbook" fits in?

Ha ha... Even middle aged people might miss the fax machine.
The checkbook would be right along with fiat cash.
Excellent graphic, I would say.

Fax is still used in the industry, but of course it's use cases are niche and marginal now. I don't think anyone will be using it in a decade tho. Maybe there will always be people using it sometimes tho, just like some people still use the traditional postal mail.
3249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin become the best technology ? on: August 09, 2015, 02:50:30 PM
I don't think bitcoin is the technology that will reshape the future, but the blockchain tech might. It has the potential of completely change the scenario of modern society.
Agree. BTC has some fundamental flaws, that won’t let in become the “best” untill they are solved.

it definitely has the potential to shape the financial sector. bitcoin is open source which makes it perfectly fine to insert changes needed to make it more user friendly and future proof.

Im willing to think that Bitcoin will win in the end, but don't underestimate how dumb the average joe can be. Just look at Apple or Microsoft, they are the leading in Smartphones and PC OS respectively, and they closed source. Meanwhile Linux still lags behind. So open source is not a ultimate indicator of mainstream success, unfortunately.
3250  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: where we can loan out btc? on: August 09, 2015, 02:48:40 PM
Im also interested on BTCJam. p2p lending is the future and one of the biggest disruptions that Bitcoin will deliver. Just imagine how mindblowing it is that it is technically possible to loan $1.00 to 100 people if you wanted, instantly and with low fee. From tiny amounts to huge amounts without banks involved. This is incredibly awesome to anyone that is familiar with traditional banking system.
3251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NSA KNOWS on: August 09, 2015, 02:43:48 PM
I think you are correct.

Since Edward Snowden we know that the NSA practically controls and observes any internet connection. They have their fingers on many ISP's and on each internet cable. So they have an easy time to find out who connects to nodes. At the same time they can read when you propagate a transaction. As far as i know transactions aren't encrypted, but even when, the NSA only would need to run a node to encrypt it.

Before the NSA you are an open book. And when they would want they could hack your computer, in most times they only need to click a button to hack you automatically, and freeze your funds.

I think the NSA is happy about bitcoin. When terror is using it more they will have an easier time.

Of course, when you use Tor or something then it is not so easy. But then... did you post one of your addresse? Already they can connect some dots.

I don't know. Just pressing a button and getting hacked is a bit far fetched isn't it? In any case, all you need to do is keep your main funds in an offline paper wallet. Then have fun NSA trying to hack that one.

3253  Economy / Speculation / Re: Condolences to the bitcoin die hards on: June 07, 2015, 08:44:05 PM
Nice FUD. Meanwhile transaction volume and venture capital volume keep growing. Have fun missing on the lifetime boat you plebs (specially now that's as cheap as it gets for such a long time).
3254  Economy / Economics / Re: I need bitcoin to be $690 to break even.....will I make it? on: June 07, 2015, 08:39:17 PM
Will I make it?

To answer your question, in my opinion, most likely not. Bitcoin has been hovering around the $220-$260 area for quite a while now, and it's going to take a huge amount of luck to even get into $300's+ again.

Wow, bitcoin surpassing a mere $5billion market cap is going to take a huge amount of luck? It must be a total failure then
Yeah lol. Anyone that isn't thinking 100+ billion marketcap is just not taking Bitcoin as serious as they should. An app like Uber has 40 billion market cap ffs. If Bitcoin becomes mainstream, that would be a good estimate for starters, and later on, it could reach the trillions.
3255  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way to turn 2BTC into 4BTC on: June 07, 2015, 08:34:42 PM
Put 50% of your BTC stack in MAID, hold until you get profits. It's pretty easy now, a legit project with a super undervalued coin. A pump will sooner or later happen, it's a matter of waiting. A lot of people will lose their money tho, desperation will begin if it keeps going down, which it potentially can.
3256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Increase block size or increase fees? on: June 07, 2015, 08:26:52 PM
So many 1 MB trolls in Bitcointalk. The vast majority of Bitcoin users wants the blocksize increase, there's no debate about that.

i'm not so sure about that, china for example is against it(because of the bandwidth problem), and they surely hold a large %

they should integrate an algorithm that will auto-fork the client everytime the tx limit is saturated...

The Gavinistas think if they assert the debate is settled and declare victory, everyone else will just fall in line.

Too bad MPEX's GavinCoin Short will destroy XT in the process of protecting Core.

And the Gmaxwillistas think nothing will happen when we hit the 1MB limit and that we will never ever need a blocksize increase because of the Lightning Network being the second coming of Satoshi Christ.

PS: Not a Gavinista, just being objective and critic with both sides.
3257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is sex selling bitcoin? on: June 07, 2015, 08:16:05 PM
Any videos containing hot girls showing some skin will get tons of views guaranteed, nothing new. What would matter is how much % of the people that visit it are going to actually look into Bitcoin and not only the girl and continue browsing the internet.

It's probably like less than 1/5 of people that will look into it, since the target of such a video isn't going to be very bright people in average.
3258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: June 07, 2015, 08:11:32 PM
So there is no way to properly give loans within a safe space? If I give loans using BTCJam, I would expect BTCJam to guarantee that they get my investment and interest back, but if they do nothing about it I don't see why I would bother. They should guarantee only legit people use the system.
3259  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: June 04, 2015, 02:54:55 PM
People never satisfied what they have now and will have it more and more before they collapse. If there are still many of this coins I dont think they will stop and retire in 20 years more. Money will never end anyway. What do I know is people will stop earn in when bitcoin is start to vanish in this world and I dont know when will that time is may be in 10 years later or next 20 years who know what will happen until that time come
Nothing points to Bitcoin disappearing in the next 10-20 years, all the fundamental dangerous catastrophic bugs have been already solved, bugs that could arise form now on could be superficial bugs, it would never have an impact on past transactions which is the dangerous shit.
3260  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is Bitcoin value more Volatile? on: June 04, 2015, 02:52:31 PM
Bitcoin was once solid as hell at 5 dollars for more than 4 months before the price exploded again. Right now it's not volatile as hell, it has felt pretty solid on the 200 range. For Bitcoin 20 dollars up and 20 dollars down is absolutely nothing. It's a great time to stock up on all that cheap ass BTC.
I remember back then it was called the "forever 5 USD" era. No one expected a bigger pump. The next pump that doubles the ATH will blow so many minds away.
