I should be able to receive some Wink

Yep it's sent on my end, thanks!
3242  Economy / Lending / Re: Free lightning tests on: October 11, 2020, 05:21:14 AM
Available for another ~12 hours.

Apparently it did indeed go through... via OpenNode -> ACINQ -> some random node

Have you got an invoice for me or do you not have the inbound capacity?
It's quite impressive how few hops it takes though (although that could be due to centralisation). With a lot of nodes I still don't think we can expect many hops (probably a log2(n) or less - with n being the number of nodes on the network). I think the ln is designed to encourage lots of small channels rather than one or two big ones...
3243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Several issues with Bitcoin Core 0.20.1 on: October 10, 2020, 05:38:14 PM
Where did you get the port number from? I thought it was 9050 for tør connectivity?
3244  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to learn on how to distinguish merit looking and a helpful post on: October 10, 2020, 02:34:51 PM
Merits aren't meant to be scarce... There should be enough circulating for members to be able to give them to above average posts of all users based on the user tank's demographic.

You could be overthinking this a little and yuu ou haven't really said any types of topics that have been used for merit hunting either? Could you not give a common example?
3245  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 1043 POSTS AND 910 ACTIVITIES BUT STILL A NEWBIE. HELP NEEDED. on: October 10, 2020, 10:55:53 AM
Your first page of posts look to be nothing but bounties? No one can justifiably merit bounty reports and why would they want to....

If you post on other parts of the forum then you'll probably be able to earn merits if you contribute to discussion. But if all of your posts are in the altcoin section, you'll probably be a newbie for a while...

/home/angelo/.bitcoin/wallets/db.log

The other one is here then and the answer is probably there...
3247  Economy / Lending / Re: Free lightning tests on: October 10, 2020, 09:18:35 AM
Did this come through OK? It says "Payment Successful", but I don't seem to be able to drill down into the payment in "ZAP" wallet... and there was an error or 2 in the lnd debugging...

When I tried to send again as a test, it says it cannot find a route, so I'm guesssing my channels are not talking to your channels Tongue What's a "good" node to create a channel with these days? Huh

Yeah it came through on my eclair as being received, I then closed the app so it's probably why the second dint come through.

Can you see the funds leaving your wallet? I assume the CT has updated so the balance should be different?.

I'm seeing a payment hash on the transaction of: d1e2656d8663ba131d2bb4a77224cdba215ba436dc2837fef7c58660899f3137 but Id imagine that's the hash of the CT.

Eclair normally recommend: 03864ef025fde8fb587d989186ce6a4a186895ee44a926bfc370e2c366597a3f8f:node.acinq.co:9735 but I don't think the funds came down that route just then...
3248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Segmentation fault (core dumped) on bitcoin-qt load on: October 10, 2020, 09:06:39 AM
Can you check for a log here:
/home/angelo/.bitcoin/wallets/database

There might be a file called: debug, log or status.

It also mentions a db.log file in your data directory but I don't know if that's the thing with the problem or the thing with the information on how to fix it...
3249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Segmentation fault (core dumped) on bitcoin-qt load on: October 10, 2020, 07:58:01 AM
Have you only just built this? Could you try running it with -reindex if you haven't already synced.

I can't remember what fixed it for me when I had that error but it looks like a problem with the database logging file (backup your wallet before reindexing if you've made one also as an additional backup to current standing ones).
3250  Economy / Lending / Re: Free lightning tests on: October 10, 2020, 07:45:49 AM
Do you have a reference for this? I only see 0.11.1beta which was released 9 days ago...

I skimmed this yesterday, if it's nothing major it still might be wise to update: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5280912.msg55342373#msg55342373

Also, can you provide me an invoice... I don't have any spare capacity to receive at the moment... Tongue

Sure!

3251  Economy / Economics / Re: Square invests 50 million USD in BTC: instrument of economic empowerment on: October 09, 2020, 04:37:40 PM
. Unfortunately, I myself don't follow this strategy and keep having Bitcoin as a majority of my holdings, which might be a horrible decision or a fantastic decision, with very little chance for in-between.
I'm the same but I feel like I could earn it back within a year so I'm not to bothered by it. If you can't, maybe cash out a little and move it to some undervalued shares (based on numerical analysis - not opinion) ...
3252  Economy / Speculation / Re: history loves repeating itself. the only question is when! on: October 09, 2020, 01:58:55 PM
The fomo makes me feel mixed short term tbh. When it sets in and "greed" arrives, there's often a shake out of those people...

Were only really up to the levels where people were complaining of a fast crash last time also.... We might not just go up from here - if we pass $12.5k then maybe but there's a lot of resistance in both directions and a potential other cme gap to fill (unless it got filled).
3253  Economy / Economics / Re: Square invests 50 million USD in BTC: instrument of economic empowerment on: October 09, 2020, 06:34:52 AM
1% of the Square fund is about $ 50 million and that's pretty much money.  It is worth mentioning here that is the news they bring.  Because of the investment of Square, a large hedge fund, the price of bitcoin rose more than 2% in the evening alone.  I just don't know if this growth is permanent or temporary Undecided

Yeah this could be the spark we've been waiting for to attempt to break the strong resistance at $12.5K... We can hope to see news of levels above that price being sustained for a while - that'd be a nice little bullish signal that'd potentially bring on a new ath in a MUCH longer move...
3254  Economy / Speculation / Re: What could be the impact of the US election on currencies? on: October 09, 2020, 06:30:55 AM
Surely more than a million jobs have already been lost in the US though so creating 1 million might not help much.

If Biden repeals some of the trade tariffs set in place by trump then every other market other than the US ones might be positively effected though (even if it might be unlikely).

I think there's still a high chance of trump winning so it might be more likely a fall happens when Biden comes in after the election (and the rate is already responding to trump having a majority)...
3255  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trezor 1 two step initilization process and bootloader help on: October 09, 2020, 01:28:42 AM
Yea I got if from the official site itself and the packaging and holo were all good. No evidence of any tampering and the holo was in line with newest designs issued by trezor.

In that case I think the bootloader is there to verify the next install to keep the device secure. I don't think I've deleted the firmware off a trezor in about a year though so someone else might know better.

3256  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trezor 1 two step initilization process and bootloader help on: October 08, 2020, 11:28:28 PM
The firmware should've been up to date when it was written. It might have been written some time ago though... Did you get it from the official site and check the holo?

I think when you install or update, the bootloader should stay the same to procent other types of attacks as it should be used to authenticate any software downloaded (otherwise you're still just trusting the machine and the hardware wallet would be potentially useless).

So after the wipe it should have the same version of bootloader software but it won't regress the bootloader back to the one the device came with as thatd mean it'd have to store both....
3257  Other / Serious discussion / Re: [T&T] covid app without location tracking? on: October 08, 2020, 10:54:50 PM
When I do on both Google and duckduckgo I get:
GSK/banking/police staff told to turn off app while working.
And guides on how to use it.

I was looking through the reviews on Google and no one seemed to have a fix for it either.

3258  Other / Serious discussion / [T&T] covid app without location tracking? on: October 08, 2020, 09:48:27 PM
Soooooo, has a topic been made on this yet? Is it possible to use a coronavirus app without sharing my location with Google?

There is no reason I see why it should be taking my location to function. A mere Bluetooth ping with an ID would be all that should be required but for some reason they seem to want the extra data?
3259  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: GAAP accounting? on: October 08, 2020, 07:49:47 PM
You're asking about tax reporting (not sure what gaap sands for)?

I use Electrum's built in fiat rate api to produce the total amount earnt. I don't know what level of accounting you need though, if you can program its easier just to run queries on exported data and work out from there how much you owe...

What sort of thing are you doing/plannung for? If it's ecommerce, you might be better off building something into the system that calculates your running profit and total or just take what you make over a week and use an average rate for that week (if you're allowed to estimate your returns).
3260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Former UKIP Politician Godfrey Bloom Buys His First Bitcoin on: October 08, 2020, 07:01:24 PM
Well, it makes sense.
After are part of a political movement bent on ruining your country economy and almost everything in international relation, and even in that organization you're to messed up to be kept it's pretty obvious you should prepare for inflation since every one of your action if in power would make it happen

What country are you from (just kinda curious).

I supported the idea of the UK leaving the EU but without much changing.... We could've attempted to form an agreement with the nordic or Switzerland instead. Atm I think a lot of stuff going to and from Canada are zero rated so at worse, we could probably negotiate the same deal with them (zero rating customs) and continue trading as if we were in the EU just with oyt own set of rules for things we use within the UK... Federations often have a bad ending to them (or a bad start) look at Russia, China, the US all massive and all with large flaws a small series of countries would find much easier to remove.

I don't like the idea of having big federations, I even think the UK is too big and would support us splitting into 7-14 countries...

The current government have gone about almost everything wrong and that's something I'd agree with, where was a second referendum (like every other democratic referendum needs)?

Ukip became very complacent within the European commission too but I don't know if they were burnt out candles by that point (how hard it is to pass reformation legislation) or if they'd just given up on the idea of ever cooperating with the EU.
