i'm thinking of taking four of those and build myself a coin generating windmill just to keep it cool..thanks The mondohub 28's can't power more than 7-8 Erupter USB's. Personally verified this.

adjust the little screw on the blue box looking things on the power module while reading the voltage with a multimeter
*Note to self: Buy a multimeter next time he passes a Fry's Electronics*

1 month ROI is the key for everything
In which reality ? This is not traditionally how investments work.

I came across this issue today while restarting one of my blades. Two chips show up marked as "xx" when I had the blade defaulting to high clock mode. If I have it defaulting to low clock mode, it comes up fine with O's across the board, and then I can toggle it to High clock speed and get it hashing closer to 13GH/s. Emailed friedcat to report the issue/troubleshooting and we'll see how it gets resolved. Presently running two blades off a Corsair 1200 (total overkill) on two separate rails, so I definitely know it's not a power problem. Also had the same problem when I had it plugged in to a Corsair 650

Filling out my order now for assembly and testing of 18 units. I was very dismayed to see my password shot back to me in cleartext in the "Welcome to your account" email I might suggest not doing that as a matter of good security practice. EDIT: BOING! Your order has been received. Thank you for your purchase! Your order # is: 100000015.

What is the best powered USB hub to run 5-10 of these. A lot of people seem to be going with the Anker 10 port, but they seem a bit pricey and have heard of issues with USB 3.0. Newegg has a good deal for a Rosewill 7 port powered hub, but the handful of bad reviews make it seem really crappy, and a couple people say it has destroyed devices. Any opinions? I have ran a couple of these just from the ports in my tower but want a fancy hub with every port filled.
I'm curious about this myself. Can't seem to find a 10 port USB 2.0 hub capable of powering enough of these guys

any news? no news is good news? or good news is no news? The news is it's going to be a while before we hear more news of this in-development project.

I'm betting on BTC25.
That is certainly a reasonable bet to make. However, I think we are in for a bit of a wait before Blades become available again. With the redesign taking place, my gut is telling me we don't see anything available for sale/shipping before mid August.

Nice to start seeing more of these in the wild.

BKKCoins knock off is coming faster than you might think
I have 18 K16's on order through Steamboat's efforts. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make other than more competition entering Bitcoin ASIC-space is a good thing. I would agree with you.

Confirming receipt of test email. Cheers !

Instead Friedcat has just become Inaba2.0
While I completely understand your irritation with the recent pricing adjustment (I share your frustration), I don't believe this is a fair comparison to make, all things considered.

I've got a feeling we're going to see some interesting K16 cooling solutions being created to get more than 4.5GHs out of each unit...

since the USB version price has halved from 2btc to 1btc, what is the pricing for the new batch of blades??
Nothing has been announced yet.
|
|
|
Then you will loose even more money and still dont make a ROI.
This is an irritating price-correction in such a short amount of time indeed. As much as I'm tempted to purchase another 50 of these, I just can't rationalize it given the possibility they may be priced at 0.50 BTC each next month

Why 'single'?
Considering the cost of a single Apache helicopter is in the ballpark of $20M USD, I think it would be reasonable to assume that number is a rounding error for black budget projects, and within the range of costs involved to attempt a 51% attack Bitcoin. Bitcoin mining, involving the SHA256 algorithm which was published by the NIST, is not rocket science.
|
|
|
The network is now safer because the entry cost is higher for someone who would want to perform a 51% attack (let's say Obama lol).
I would estimate a fraction of a percentage point of USA black-ops funding would be enough to design and pay for enough custom ASIC processing to own Bitcoin if they wanted to. I would guess the cost of a single military attack helicopter would be enough to accomplish this task.

If all you can think about is how much you overpaid, then maybe, just maybe, you SHOULDN'T HAVE OVERPAID.
... and what does it say about those of us that have disposable Bitcoins, and are thinking of "doubling down" by buying another 50 to add to our farms. Goddamnit. *Desk. Applies directly to the forehead*
