When ASIC replaces GPU.
This is really something to celebrate!!!
No, standing to my view recurring fees (electricity) will soon become the main cost of mining. This dosent mean that ordering from BFL is smart.

Ignore my question is the other thread, then.
Hope everything goes smooth during the $147,000 USD upgrade. Can't wait to see the new forum.

I guess it's the admin trying to deal with the server load. If so, well... i don't really have to explain it.

24 hours after he received it, he posts 6 real photos and some shit a kid can do with Photoshop, when he knows there are close to a million $$$ at stake.
Yeah, that sucks. He knows there are hundreds of people waiting, since Avalon went to all that trouble to get him the first unit, and he barely posts anything, just lets it sit and mine while everyone's holding their breath for PCB shots. Or maybe it's just me ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) +1 But hey, 6000$ at month is worth some nerds screaming against him.

My personal opinion is that:
Jeff is in on the AVALON scam too.
He mysteriously receives it in the last moment, so he doesn't have time to make a proper review. NOW, 24 hours after he received it, all he posts 6 real photos and some shit a kid can do with Photoshop, when he knows there are close to a million $$$ at stake.
Well, yes, why not? After all, we have only seen a single unit. Over 300, one. BUT. What's the freaking sense in this to delay the second batch preorder? They could be already between the 2 tropics by now if they didn't stopped the preorder. So, i don't agree this time.

From the first page of this thread (updated):
Batch two has been postponed as of now, stay tuned today for major updates. This gives a chance for more people to acquire bitcoins for the order, it will be at least 24 hours from now before order, but I do not expect the delay to extend past this week.
Thank you, i missed it.

"Batch two has been postponed as of now, stay tuned today for major updates. This gives a chance for more people to acquire bitcoins for the order, it will be at least 24 hours from now before order, but I do not expect the delay to extend past this week."
Sounds like exactly something someone would do if they are trying to "fake shortage". Say you are only selling 500 orders, but actually sell a few thousand. But they sell out faster because there is a perceived shortage. I've seen this happen way too many time in the video game industry [/quote Where did you read the "it will be at least 24 hours from now before order, but I do not expect the delay to extend past this week" part?

Hence, my suggestion that they initially limit it to one unit per customer, so that ....
So that it takes ages for them to deal with all the order handling, shipping waybills, invoicing, payment follow up? I think they'd rather have 20 customers that take 30 units each than 600 customers that take 1 unit each Heck, I'd place an order for 30 units if I could pay with wire transfer... +1 Or +30 Since that they don't seem to be in a hurry anymore, why not to open the orders like the last time, allow 10 days for the wires to come in and delete the orders that doesn't come in in time? Less troubles for all of us fiat-powered. Less commission for them, less problems in a speculative market. After all mining is a hard way to convert fiat to bitcoin, correct? Why would they? They've taken months of abuse on the forums - finally have shown their true colours by bringing kit to the marketplace. Any serious customer into btc will have the coin to hand or made arrangements to have coin in time for batch#2 Demand will be far higher than the size of batch 2 - so they can cut out any headaches and ask for upfront payment. They have taken 2 days of abuses. As for the amount of btc each of us stores no, it's incorrect.

TEORIA DEL VALORE DI ZUONKING Il valore di un Bitcoin tende a salire tanto più quanto ne è difficile la produzione. Sbagliato. Non mi chiedere di speigartelo, è un argomento discusso migliaia di volte.

Most critics did not say there is a "chance". They said with absolute certainty "it is a scam". Cedivad included: check his thread title.
These uninformed and misguided critics have been the root cause of most of the trolling and fights on this forum.
Look at my first point. For the info we had 2 hours ago, it was a certain scam. Now everything changed. You were poorly informed, because multiple details apparently unknown to you indicated that Avalon was likely legit: - history of the guys, long-term members of this community (ngzhang and yifu had made and sold fpga devices, I personally bought fpgas from yifu) - very conservative and plausible power consumption (150 Mhash/Joule) - old 110nm tech, easier to design at than 65nm I replied to your points of concern, but you seem to have ignored or not seen them: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=139725.msg1489135#msg1489135I guess I am more interested in the psychology of this debate: what could we have said differently that would have changed your mind, that perhaps Avalon was legit? I am sure this boils down to poor communication and sharing of information between forum members. I am trying to understand how the communication can be improved. Because if it can be improved, there would be a lot fewer debates and arguments on these forums, hence it would improve the quality of the forum as a whole (and I am really interested in improving it.) Not sure if trolling me or what. I knew that, however BFL has possible numbers, an history as FPGA maker and yet to ship. bAsics, almost the same. The whole forum was sure that this was a scam, the FACT that we where told lies is enought to prove it: why the Chinese customers didn't get their units if the only problem what to pass Chinese customs? Do we really belive that, again? They have problems they don't wont to admit with this avalon. Full point. The million dollar they will get tomorrow will most probably fix these problems. I think that you are the uninformed. Edit, yes, I readed your post at the time but didn't tought it was worth replying. Everyone belive what they want to belive, you are one of the guys that would have paid in btc even without Jeff receiving its unit. You cannot say that hey, they just started shipping to Chinese customers, you can't except them to already have them. Yes, not in 3 days, but what about 2 weeks? Seriously? Also, the lack of the video, how do you seriously justify it? It dosent make any sense. Sorry, I'm from my phone and don't have the time right now to answer properly. I hope to have made a few points anyway.

http://launch.avalon-asics.com/seems to have been down for at least an hour ------------ There appears to be an error with this site. If you are the site administrator, here are a few things you can do: Redeploy the app in the Dashboard (Deploy Latest). Ensure there are at least 2 web instances for redundancy. Submit a ticket recording the error and outcome of Actions 1 & 2. ----------- any word on the "secret thing" that is already on board that the site talked about? expandability? Hey! DDoS'd. I guess this means we now matter. p.s. this is not a problem at all, nothing to worry about. If you weren't pointed at it before, use a 60 seconds dns ttl and use cloudflare.
