... 3/ Interoperability isn't as important it's made out to be because there aren't as many tradeoffs in blockchain design as altcoin developers would have you to believe. One network could easily absorb numerous use cases (e.g. storing value, payments, smart contracts).
4/ Tezos is the killer platform for high-value, low-expressivity applications that actually need decentralization. An example of this is Automated Escrow (i.e. tokens in a SC that go to certain parties depending on conditions). Huge market opportunities here (e.g. insurance).
5/ "One way to think about Tezos is [that] it's like Bitcoin but there's governance, there are some smart contracts, and there's Proof of Stake instead of Proof of Work." - @crainbf
6/ Tezos is not married to its consensus algorithm (although they are making improvements to it currently) and is actively looking at other algorithms. @ArthurB cited Tendermint and doing sortition in Tendermint (similar to DFinity) as two approaches he liked.
7/ @zcashco technology will soon be deployed to Tezos so that it can support private transactions.
8/ Re: on-chain governance attacks, @ArthurB is not concerned about manipulative attacks because, after a vote, there is ample time to realize and fork out of bad decisions (most people think the automatic client switch is instant after a vote, but there are built-in delays).
9/ It's much harder to get a new feature added using Tezos on-chain governance than people realize. First, you have to convince a prediction market that it's a good idea to have a vote in the first place. Then, you have to get more than 80% of the votes.
10a/ @ArthurB also describes the paradox of on-chain governance: > Protocols with more flexibility are actually *harder* to change. Example: Imagine a blockchain with a cultural taboo of making changes to it. If you make a change, people think it's a scam.
10b/ Since it is a blockchain -- inevitably something will come up that requires a hard fork. When you hard fork, it becomes much easier to add in other features at that time since you're already hard forking anyways!
10c/ On the other hand, when you have on-chain governance that provides a way (albeit an extremely difficult one) to get features added, it's no longer acceptable to add features during a HF. The network actually becomes more resilient to change!
11/ Tezos on-chain governance is also not one-size-fits-all. Different parts of the protocol can be placed in different modules, and then you can have different sets of rules for each module. Example: You can't create more than 10% of tokens per year unless you get 95% of vote.
12/ Not the SC platform for democracy: "The point of voting in governance is not to give everyone a voice. It's to make good decisions." - @ArthurB "Governance is...a means to an end, and the end is a better way to incorporate new innovations into the blockchain." - @breitwoman
13/ A cryptocurrency won't win long-term because of better technology since blockchains are open source. Rather, it is (1) a strong core developer community who can identify and implement the best tech and (2) good governance that will be differentiators in the end.
14/ That's all I've got - hopefully my interpretations didn't butcher anything too badly. Also worth noting that @crainbf and @MeherRoy did an excellent job moderating the discussion!

Es besteht also durchaus noch Hoffnung für NEM ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) He3Labs built a blockchain “designed for business data” called Catapult, which will allow businesses to run private or hybrid blockchains in a trusted environment. LuxTag, a project focused on providing blockchain-based digital certificates for valuable assets, released a video explaining the company’s “story of commitment, innovation, and passion.”
NEM recently confirmed their intention to keep growing their ecosystem by announcing a couple of partnerships. Gifto, a platform looking to create the world’s largest mass consumer “token of appreciation” recently came on board. With Gifto, digital content creators, gamers, and charities can send and receive customized virtual gifts across social media including Youtube, Instagram, and Facebook. Through this partnership, Gifto will rest out the NEM blockchain scalability over the next several months, looking to fully migrate there from its current Ethereum base if the tests give satisfactory results.
Just days later a partnership with Oath, a layer 2 protocol that enables fair, robust, and transparent dispute resolution and governance on the blockchain, was confirmed. This one brings a strong security update to NEM’s blockchain while arming NEM users with mechanisms to resolve any potential issues with the infrastructure in a decentralized and fair manner.
In other updates, a partnership was signed with Portal Network, an incentivized and fully-decentralized platform that provides blockchain protocols and projects with identical Blockchain Name Service (BNS) standards governed by smart contracts. NEM partnered up with Singaporean Institute of Blockchain in a deal where NEM’s blockchain will be used for issuing electronic certificates and organizing community events. Finally, Japanese real estate company Ruden Holdings decided to adopt NEM blockchain as a framework for solving its currency settlements.
The infamous Bitgrail hack and the subsequent drop in price seemingly haven’t demotivated the NEM team. Providing features which include a proof-of-importance algorithm, environmental friendliness, Mosaic tokens, Multisig2.0, spam guard filters, private blockchains, NEM Nano wallets and a universal API, NEM team are creating an interesting candidate to replace Ethereum as people’s smart contract platform of choice. Several projects have taken the “NEM pill” and decided to work with the platform, including Eroiy, TravelByBit, PundiX and others. The question remains: will this be enough to overtake other smart contract platforms on the market? https://captainaltcoin.com/nem-xem-hasnt-been-in-the-news-much-lately-but-they-have-been-patiently-working-and-growing-their-project/

MAU = Monatliche Aktive Nutzer
Brandon Eich Co-founder & CEO @Brave Software @attentiontoken . Co-founded Mozilla & Firefox. Created JavaScript twitterte:
@Brave stats: 4M users (MAU), 21K verified channels, 26K publisher accounts. We will step on gas w/ brave-core + BAT on mobile this fall, get past 5M easily by EOY, >= 12M next, adding BAT ad deals to token grants, making good on the promise of @attentiontoken economics.

... TRIG went down by 36%, BCN by 17.25%, ICN dropped by 6.96%, and CHAT lost around 22.24% of its value.
Additionally, Binance promised to stay committed to customer protection, as well as the protection of its stakeholders. To ensure that only the best coins are added to its list of cryptos and trading pairs, Binance is also implementing a stricter listing process. That way, the exchange and its customers alike will be certain that only the best and most trustworthy projects will get the exposure on Binance’s trading platform.
This is deemed necessary not only to eliminate bad quality coins but also to ensure that users are not exposed to fake coins and scams that seem to be growing in number. After all, Binance is dedicated to promoting transparency, as well as sustainable growth. As such, it recognizes its responsibility in protecting its customers and their assets.

... One of the key benefits of blockchain technology, according to SITA, is the ability to have multi-enterprise applications. These work across multiple organizations locking data immutably into the blockchain rather than having individual applications running separately and exchanging data on a case-by-case This, it says, is how this technology can provide a ‘single source of truth’ to all stakeholders. Today, 59% of airlines have pilot or research programmes planned around blockchain for implementation by 2021, which is up from 42% last year. Similarly, airports also continue to experiment with blockchain with 34% planning R&D projects by 2021. The most commonly expected use of blockchain for both airlines and airports is to streamline the passenger identification process with 40% of airlines and 36% of airports saying this would be a major benefit. ... Airlines stated they expected blockchain technology to provide benefits in the roll out of passenger tokens for frequent flyer programmes (34%) and e-tickets (31%). Airport CIOs have item custody change tracking (such as baggage) (28%) and operational efficiency (24%) as areas that have potential benefits. In a bid to help drive the exploration of blockchain, SITA announced in June the launch of The Aviation Blockchain Sandbox, a major industry research project to explore the potential of blockchain. ... http://www.airport-world.com/news/general-news/6846-airport-interest-growing-in-blockchain-technology.html

Binance Listing Fee Update Binance will make a change to our listing fee policy. Starting immediately, and going forward, we will make all listing fees transparent and donate 100% of them to charity.
Project teams will still propose the number they would like to provide for a “listing fee,” or now more appropriately called a “donation.” Binance will not dictate a number, nor is there a minimum required listing fee.
This change will further push Binance’s charity initiatives and increase the use of blockchain for the greater good. We will have further updates in this area shortly. ... https://medium.com/binanceexchange/binance-listing-fee-update-d512982722ce

Steem Use-a-Thon by Byteball - Winners Announcement — Steemit Hier die Gewinner, Herzlichen Glückwunsch AltcoinB, Dich habe ich hier doch auch schon gesehen ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Third place Third place and the 2,055,905.882 Bytes goes to @altcoinb for the use case about creating an SMS bot ... Creating a Chat Bot that allows users to send SMS messages. The bot could be used by any user to send SMS messages that the bot would then relay through a SMS provider to someone’s mobile number. It would also allow other bots and applications to use the service to send out one-time passwords, verification codes, reminders of won bets or basically anything that they want. Jury comments Acknowledging that SMS service is a dated service compared to other modern means of sending messages between two users, it’s obvious that it’s still one of the preferred ways. One of the reasons could be that sending an SMS costs money. This effectively makes it impractical for spam purposes and is therefore often considered more legitimate than, for example, an email or text message on a social media platform. The use case is both highly feasible as well as sustainable as it would potentially generate income when implemented. By open sourcing the code for it, other contributors could build APIs for it or even more advanced features so we find this use case to have a great potential. ... Second place Second place and the 5,139,764,706 Bytes goes to @drsensor for the use case about rewarding contributors to GitHub open source projects ... Probably inspired by knowing how valuable contributions to open source projects are, @drsensor introduced the idea of linking Byteball to GitHub. Through the use of a bot and an oracle tapping into the APIs of GitHub, the solution would make it possible for a repository owner to request specific contributions to be made to his project and set specific rewards for them on Smart Contracts. During work on the project, it grew and eventually ended up becoming too large for one man to pull off. Jury comments This project uses the core of what the Byteball platform is able to do: eliminate the need for trust between two parties in digital transactions. By elegantly spotting the need for a bot allowing project owners to request specific tasks and an oracle that could provide an unbiased result from the effort of the contributor, this project hits pretty much all the right notes. Most existing platforms either require the contributor to trust the project owner to transfer the reward after he has provided all the work, or introduce an escrow service. The jury believes that this project’s realization would be highly valuable both to project owners as well as contributors, who would potentially be willing to pay a small fee to take advantage of all the benefits. So it is our sincere hope that someone will eventually pick up on the idea and make it happen.
... First place First place and the 10,279,529,411 Bytes goes to @genievot for the Byteball Discord Bot ... A Byteball Discord bot. Acknowledging that Discord is rapidly growing and that more and more users are becoming aware of Byteball too, it is likely that there would be a need for a Discord bot for Byteball. The features of the bot would allow users to register a wallet with the bot, from which they could then send tips to other users, make payments, pull data from the DAG, present the polls generated in the previous use case and quite a few other useful ideas. Jury comments Showing incredible speed in progress and being able to create a working prototype in a matter of days is impressive. Implementing features only a few weeks old also proves an in-depth understanding of the platform. We are absolutely convinced that the Discord bot is an excellent addition that will not only help introduce Byteball to a wider audience but also provide users easy access to features. The possibility to follow the development more or less live on GitHub was a great pleasure as well. ... https://steemit.com/byteball/@byteball.org/steem-use-a-thon-by-byteball-winners-announcement
