The only game taking place tomorrow Thursday 28th April 2022:

Manchester United vs Chelsea

Chelsea should go to Old Trafford and win the game because they are a better team.

Even if Manchester United manage to win the game it will be all about trying to cover the flaws in their team cohesion because it is probably too late for them to mount a challenge for a 4th place finish because Tottenham and Arsenal are too far ahead. Mathematically it is still possible though.

3262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FOOTBALL: UEFA Champions League 2021/22 Season on: April 27, 2022, 12:48:24 PM
Result from the first semi-final played yesterday:

Manchester City 4-3 Real Madrid

The second semi-final taking place this evening:

Liverpool vs Villarreal

I still think Real Madrid will beat Manchester City and qualify for the final where they will play Villarreal in an all Spanish final  Grin
3263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING FURY WON IN ROUND 6 ]: FURY vs WHYTE - THE FIGHT on: April 27, 2022, 09:23:20 AM
I am not sure if we will see Fury in a boxing fight again though a hybrid or UFC fight with Ngannou is more probable.

For Fury to fight Joshua there have to be belts on the line otherwise it serves Fury no purpose just for bragging rights. Fury must come out of retirement to fight again and he probably would only do it for a unification fight.

Will Joshua be able to defeat Usyk? I think Usyk will beat Joshua again.

I'm also convinced that we will see Fury in the ring again, even if it's against Ngannou. Although, the Joshua fight will likely come knocking, for very big money.
3264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ]: FURY vs WHYTE - CONFIRMED on: April 26, 2022, 10:02:04 PM
It seems Francis Ngannou is confident he will fight Tyson Fury. He says he is 70% sure he will fight Fury in 2023

https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/33807982/70-chance-my-next-opponent-tyson-fury

I find it hard to believe he would actually retire now. The unification fight would definitely mark a fitting end, and he would truly then have achieved everything. I can't see him passing up that chance, especially if it's against Joshua (but also if it's Usyk).

One other thing I do still find hard to believe is that Mike Tyson is not even the most successful heavyweight boxer named Tyson!
3265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ]: FURY vs WHYTE - CONFIRMED on: April 25, 2022, 01:20:33 PM
Was quite a lacklustre fight until that uppercut came out of nowhere.
True. there was not much going on until that point. Whyte was trying to probe and get closer to Fury to land punches but Fury had a game plan and that reach he has with the jab was a great weapon, it rendered the Whyte attack useless and made him look ordinary. Fury did not have to do anything spectacular because he was controlling the fight and taking energy away from Whyte and then the uppercut did the damage and won him the fight.

The Fury's are all a bunch of contradictions. His father comes out with some wise stuff sometimes and then goes and completely contradicts himself in the next sentence.
I think his wife released a statement saying he would be back in the ring again. Will he really be able to walk away knowing a unification fight could be on the cards? He will surely be tempted to go for it. because he could unify the belts then retire.

3266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: April 25, 2022, 01:41:44 AM
Liverpool 2-0 Everton

This victory for Liverpool puts them back in to the race with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. At the same time the result has further deepened the problems facing Everton as they are in a fight to avoid relegation. Burnley beat Wolverhampton Wanderers today which means they are out of the relegation zone at the expense of Everton.

I think Manchester City will be crowned Premier League champions and also think Everton will be relegated alongside Norwich and Watford. As for the 4th Champions League spot, I think Tottenham will take it Shocked

Here is how the Premier League table currently stands:

Another win to Nill as expected!!! Everton are down to the mud.
3267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: April 24, 2022, 04:23:03 PM
It could have been a different outcome if Bruno had scored that crucial penalty to tie the game up when it mattered; it was a decisive penalty, but he missed it, as he did against Aston Villa, but it's part of the game; no one is perfect with penalty kicks, and sometimes they go the wrong way. What I don't get is Manchester United fans' hatred for all of the current players at the club; today you're a legend, tomorrow you're a scumbag. It's insane!!
Fernandes missed the penalty, he hit the post. I think Dalot hit the crossbar and the post and also Ronaldo had a goal disallowed for offside. For me, they should have been awarded a penalty because the player deliberately touched the ball when he was on the ground, it was deliberate therefore it should have been a penalty. Well done to Arsenal, now they are in a two-horse race with Tottenham for the 4th place finish.

In the Chelsea vs. West Ham game, we need to be on our game in the second half, or it'll be another L.
You should be happy because West Ham lost at Chelsea after Jorginho missed his penalty and then Pulisic scored the winner in the 90th minute. That is the insane you were talking about Grin

Here are the results of the games played earlier today:

Brighton and Hove Albion 2-2 Southampton

Burnley 1-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Chelsea 1-0 West Ham United

Liverpool vs Everton is still playing and the score is 0-0

Manchester City sent out a big statement to Liverpool by thrashing Watford and creating a 4 point gap at the top of the Premier League table. Liverpool need to beat Everton today in the Merseyside derby otherwise they will find it difficult to catch Manchester City.

Ronaldo scored but it was not enough to save Manchester United from defeat. VAR was an absolute joke in that game. As for Tottenham, I did not expect to them win because Brentford have been playing exceptionally well recently but the pressure was on for Spurs who needed 3 points. They ended up with a draw but Brentford should have won that game.

It was really sad to hear about the news about Cristiano Ronaldo's child. he did play against Arsenal in the match and he scored the only goal that was scored by Manchester United in that match. Manchester United lost that match 3-1.

Manchester City won the match against Watford by 5-1  it was really easy for Manchester United to win that match. They will obviously try to increase the goal difference from now on because it is possible that they and Liverpool at the same points at the end of the season.

Tottenham vs Brentford was a draw, a little unlikely result in my opinion. really expected Tottenham to win that match.

It seems he will not break his promise to his wife and he will retire but he also left the door open to a return. It is a contradiction but that is what he said in his post-fight press conference.

I only get to see the highlights of the fight because of the difference in my time at the event but that huge uppercut makes all the difference I thought Whyte can manage to continue because he manage to get us but he lose his equilibrium, Fury says after the Whyte he will retire we don't know if he is going to honor his words.
3271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ]: FURY vs WHYTE - CONFIRMED on: April 23, 2022, 10:04:02 PM
With the exception of the first round which was close, Fury controlled the fight throughout but that one punch was a solid one that took out Whyte.

Great to see the update that Tyson Fury won the fight easily. The weakness of Dillian Whyte to the upper cut was exploited in this fight as well. Dillian Whyte lost to Alexander Povetkin and Anthony Joshua with the same upper cut and great to hear that Tyson Fury won the fight, unfortunately i was not able to watch the fight live as it was not available in my country which was a bummer.
3272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ]: FURY vs WHYTE - CONFIRMED on: April 23, 2022, 09:42:22 PM
What an uppercut by Fury, he knocked out Whyte with a ferocious shot in round 6.

In his victory speech he claimed it was probably his final fight. Is Fury really going to retire?

Here are the results from the games played today:

Arsenal 3-1 Manchester United

Leicester City 0-0 Aston Villa

Manchester City 5-1 Watford

Norwich City 0-3 Newcastle United

Brentford 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur
3274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: April 22, 2022, 10:20:25 PM
Ronaldo just might do it if he plays. After the sad news of his baby son he might not be playing until he is mentally prepared. If Manchester United beat Arsenal and then Brentford beat Tottenham, it will mean Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United will have 57 points each. Another interesting twist to an interesting season  Grin

About Ronaldo, it was a fantastic gesture by Liverpool fans to applaud Cristiano when Manchester United played at Anfield after the sad news. Ronaldo was not there but their gesture touched his heart. Well done Liverpool fans for showing real class.

I look at the Manchester City vs Watford game and think Guardiola will try to increase their goal difference. Manchester City have +55 compared to +61 that Liverpool have.

The other game is Brentford vs Tottenham because Brentford have been playing very well since a certain ex-Tottenham player signed for them until the end of the season therefore Spurs will find it tough.

Manchester United to win + Ronaldo to score.
3275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ [POLL] English FA CUP Season: 2021/2022 on: April 22, 2022, 08:01:33 PM
It is still very early days since VAR was introduced in the game, a few years at that. I think as it evolves the pressure will be applied on them to face scrutiny and that should help minimise errors on their part. I was not a big fan of VAR when it was first introduced in the Premier League but I can see the benefits outweigh the previous situation. Give it time  Wink

What's the need for VAR when refs are still making decisions though

Wembley Stadium
23rd April 2022

Tomorrow is the day. The fight is finally going to take place at Wembley Stadium. Both Fury and Whyte will have to get past their mind games and put everything out there  Grin
3278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FOOTBALL: UEFA Champions League 2021/22 Season on: April 22, 2022, 07:46:35 PM
An all English champions league final would be great and another display of the power of the Premier League. It can also be an all Spanish final too  Grin

Every time Liverpool play they look like scoring but will they be able to stop conceding goals in the aim to get past Villarreal?

^  I know what you mean.  It's really hard fading Real Madrid with Benzema running hot.  The odds for them winning the UCL is at 6.65 rn.  I think that's good value considering that City does choke at crucial moments just like we've seen them do for the last three UCL seasons now..?  I really thought last year was gonna be their year.  I'm now thinking Pep might not win the UCL with City.  This is his last chance.

But Liverpool is a problem tho.  No one can touch them...  I'm thinking it's gonna be an all English final but yeah, we can't discount Real Madrid.

I agree, Liverpool cannot be blamed for anything related to the past VAR decisions because they were taken by referees but having said that they had to take the good decisions with the bad like all the other teams.... not all decisions went their way. Call it incompetence or negligence, the problems that teams face when VAR makes a wrong decision can be huge especially if promotion, relegation and finals/semi-finals are at stake. There should be a much greater scrutiny of VAR when they get it wrong.

Maybe with time as we move further in to the VAR era and the technology improves, the remote referees just might be held to account when they get it badly wrong.

We can both agree that during the 2018/2019 season, when Liverpool won their first EPL title, they were dubbed LiVARpool because of several instances in which VAR played a crucial role in their matches. In the Champions League, the same could be said about Real Madrid.
Yeah, definitely were known as that. Although, I don't think that has anything to do with Liverpool, it's just incompetency from VAR, rather than corruption. I know some might think it's corruption, and to be honest with some of the decisions, even when they're looking at still images, and have all the tools at their disposal, some of the decisions are absolutely baffling, even leaving the commentators baffled.

So, I do get that, but really I just think the people behind VAR, and the decisions need to be held accountable. After all, if a player cheats or a manager cheats they'll have it in the neck. There needs to be some sort of responsibility when making game changing decisions. Especially with VAR as it takes some of that pressure off that could be excused in the past when a ref makes a bad decision in real time.
