Good video with Dr. Wright from 2014 which I've never seen before.  Very informative.

Leakers gotta leak!

Reuters et al are still trying to dig up info on Dr. Wright.
3263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Satoshi reveals himself, what would be of Bitcoin? on: March 21, 2017, 04:44:44 PM
If he came back, for sure all the Bitcoin Unlimited shills would shut the fuck of to listen to what the master would be saying. And what he would be saying would be obviously to stop their secession and to join Core, as Satoshi is Core-sided.

Who told you Satoshi is Core sided?  Did he send you a private message?   Roll Eyes

Groestlcoin was the 1st activated segwit with a hard fork, (No one seems to care.)

The others that allowed voting like vertcoin, the miners have not activated.

Woodcoin claims activation, but I not sure they are a real coin.  Tongue

 Cool

FYI:
Blockstream is so desperate now, they are threatening to move BTC to a New PoW Algo.  Cheesy
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1835392.msg18273281#msg18273281

They don't have a choice unless they compromise and they won't.

And they won't do it unless they're attacked first so we'll get 3 chains, not two.  Core says BU will be a premined alt so what will that make their fork which will also have a new PoW algo?

If that's the case we'll have 2 alts and a dead chain.  So [technically] no more Bitcoin.

That's gonna be interesting to watch unfold.
3265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTU marketing problem on: March 21, 2017, 07:57:49 AM
I see two possible outcomes. If (almost) everybody agrees before the fork that BU is the way to go, then it will become BTC and the Core chain will die.
If we can't agree and the fork occurs i see no other way then BTC and BTU, even if BTU will be far larger. A switch back to BTC or XBT (which might be more correct) later on seems possible, but only if the core chain will die.
Of course there is also the possibility that there will be no fork or that BU will remain a small altcoin after the split, because after the split it is up to the users which chain they use. If most of them want to stay with core this will have an effect on price.

Core will not give up until they exhaust all their options which include changing the PoW, regardless of how popular BU is before the actual fork.
3266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTU marketing problem on: March 21, 2017, 07:34:07 AM

So what do you call Bitcoin segwit since it's gonna be the minority fork and will only have about 3% of the original Bitcoin code?  So if BU is an alt then isn't that a bigger alt than BTU?

Worst yet, once BU forks the chain, Bitcoin (core) will fork again to change PoW making it a full-blown alt more so than the previous 2 chains.

You guys starting to get this yet?

Dr. Wright and I warned everyone a year ago.  Don't start crying when those steganographic messages start happening, one by one.

3268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- The Riddle of the Twin Brothers - Who Were, Are and Will Rule the World! on: March 20, 2017, 04:55:44 AM
The first crypto to release to the public with SegWit will be the big winner. It may not be Bitcoin, or even Litecoin. If a group were to take the Bitcoin (or Litecoin) source, make a new coin, with SegWit built-in from the group up, call it Bitcoin2, or Litecoin2, start a brand new block chain with it, that entity will likely create many millionaires. And since they are starting a new coin, they could drop any code that deals with backward compatibility issues.

I'm pretty sure a few coins have already updated to segwit.  I remember reading about it on Reddit a couple weeks ago.

I think it needs to be a high profile coin or at least one which has the marketing to raise awareness.
3269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- The Riddle of the Twin Brothers - Who Were, Are and Will Rule the World! on: March 19, 2017, 06:42:39 PM

Can you explain more clearly please? Are you saying this hard fork AKA bitcoin unlimited will defeat bitcoin in hashing power and kill it off this way so people who hold BTC will have their value depleted this way and lose in the end?

I think exchanges will allocate 1:1 to BTC holders if the BU is listed as part of conditions for listing so this will not happen.

Are you recommending people diversify into other coins?Why?.. because if BU gets listed then they will surely lose out on 1:1 swap because they would not be holding BTC at this time of listing of BU.

Can you elaborate on exactly what is going to happen as this riddle could have many variables and in turn many answers to suit the actual result something like having many preconceived answers to suit all possible outcomes.

Actually it would be namecoin in my humble opinion that is the twin.

Namecoin is a different codebase than Bitcoin.  Not a twin.

It depends on your risk tolerance and how btc you have.

You can hold your btc and you will get an equal amount on the BU chain.  I think most will do that.

There is a risk with this.  This hardfork isn't that well planned and numerous bugs have been found in the BU code already.  Plus there will probably be an attack on Bitcoin (core) by BU miners which could stall that chain and force another split to a new PoW algo.

If you add these two possibilities then there is a good probability of a massive panic and price crash.  It will be difficult for most to think clearly in such a scenario and if panic selling ensues it could get really ugly really fast.

So again, it depends on your situation and how much risk can you stomach.

If I had say 1,000 btc I'd probably cash out 200 now to have a lot of cash to buy with.  And then wait on the 800 btc and double it to 1600 post split and hope there's no crash and it's easy to pic a winner.

If I had only a few btc I'd probably just wait and see cause my wife [hopefully] wouldn't leave me over such a small loss, in the event I were to make the wrong call after the split.

Personally, I think the worst case scenario is gonna happen, there are going to be bugs, Bitcoin (core version) will get attacked and they'll be forced to fork again to a new PoW algo thus splicing Bitcoin 3 times.  This would create mass confusion and the price would probably plummet at which point it would be hard to figure out what's what.

I think all hell is about to break loose.  I expected it to happen last summer which was why I kept saying:  it's gonna be a HOT summer.

Good luck!

Hahaha.  No, you're not a puppet, you get an apple.

Interesting read.  This part stood out to me for some reason.  Wink

so you have no skin in the game but a never ending amount of glee watching people lose money so you gain what exactly?

why are you here exactly?

And BTW, most people are not losing "money".  They're losing paper profits which is not quite the same socially and economically speaking.  That "money" will be transferred to others just like it was once transferred to those losing it.

Just like stocks, it's a zero sum game.

And the writing has been on the wall a long time - people chose to assume the risk so they have to take the loss with the same grace they boasted about their easy "moon" profits.

Most will lose all their BTC.  It's getting too complex and unstable already.  It's just a simple reality people need to face and diversify according to their risk tolerance.

Well, I had a lot of skin in the game until Vern took it all.  It's part cause I'm just a meanie but mostly it's this.

4 years I've been accurately predicting things like this split and coming chaos just to be called crazy.

I don't like that.  Nobody paid me a dime to be treated like shit, I was only trying to help people.  People who prefer to stay blind and mock those who see.

So now I'm enjoying the show; and mocking the mockers.

Time to PANIC!

Bitcoin Unlimited just hit 40% of the last 144 blocks.

PS - Bahahahahaaaa!

Sorry about that last part; I simply couldn't hold it in.  Smiley

Hahaha - I can't stop laughing!

Jameson Lopp (@lopp)

@Excellion FYI, it appears that BU devs have no intention of adding replay protection - their plan is to kill the Core chain instead.

Wow vorhees reads your thread and commented about your topic, in another thread on another site...

To those in this /r/bitcoin sub riddle thread that read the above as "exchanges say BTU is an altcoin" you are missing the point. Exchanges are actually saying, "we are increasingly believing a HF is going to happen and here is how we are dealing with it practically."

Calling the new fork BTU is about practical issues related to running continuous markets. It is not "labelling the new chain an altcoin." Also stated in the announcement, is that if the fork chain (BTU) eventually becomes the clear dominance chain (upon a confluence of metrics), then it would be assigned the BTC symbol.

What?  Are you putting me on?  You got a link?

You muppets need a diktator cause you're a bunch of quarreling children.

Enjoy the coming chaos.

Yes this is okay Vlad but remember you said you would be a benevolent dictator. If you go full retard on the dictats that it become unbearable you must promise to step down for free and fair elections  Smiley

Hahaha.  I promise.  Not sure you can trust the promise of a dictator, tho.  Smiley

Bitcoin Unlimited: Articles of Federation

Bitcoin Unlimited actually states that they are going to choose a Bitcoin Diktator, err, president.

Bahahahaaaaa.

You guys realize the havoc someone like me would cause?  On the bright side there would be no more arguing about scaling, namechange, protocol or anything like that.  Bitcoin would move mainstream ASAP.

You muppets need a diktator cause you're a bunch of quarreling children.
