dammit, i want to keep 999 posts
kicked from hero to jr  Shocked

That suck's.
That affects ranks too
Sr Member again  Sad
Look left.
I have high posts but low activity :/

Maybe this will finally disincentivize spamming for post racking to gain supposed credibility.

Wtf? How will it affect us "paid for signature space whores" ?

It's still in your profile, anyone can see it by clicking your username.
3262  Other / Meta / Re: Activity on: June 18, 2013, 07:59:51 PM
I wonder if it can go down.

Transisto's is the highest so far.

EDIT: I think the registration date plays a some role.

Bruno and I both have 742.

Only now have I noticed that ranks are also affected. Interesting.
3263  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: different software showing different temperatures for GPU. What to believe? on: June 18, 2013, 03:47:41 PM

I notice 3 temp. readings. The highest one is the one showing on Afterburner and Trixx and the lowest one is the one showing on cgminer and Kombustor. What should be the guide to know wheat the temp of the card actually is?

4 actually
93.0, 83.0, 93.5 and 91.5

I suspect that the GPU core temperature is the 1st one (93.0) and the other ones could be memory and the voltage regulator module.

If GPU-Z doesn't give any information beyond that and XFX themselves don't supply any additional software I'm afraid it won't be possible to find out with 100% certainty which reading is for which sensor.

Although these temperatures are a bit high (OK for the VRM and a bit high for GPU or VRAM for long-term use) they are still 'safe'. You won't make any profit with one HD 6770 anyway so unless you leave it mining 24/7 for many months I doubt anything should happen (although I guarantee nothing).

Si on savait on serait tous riches.

freedom > security
I think it should be freedom = security. I live in a country which has received independence from USSR in 1990. After that, people were demanding complete freedom. That freedom was mostly used by criminals, mafias and other not-so-good people to silence others. Thank god that time is over now.

I live in a country which became independent from USSR in 1989 and I know what you are talking about but you are looking at it from a wrong perspective.
There was more freedom but too many people (many with ties to the former communist system) had too much power amplified by the backing of the state. Add corruption, cronyism, nepotism and ambiguous laws to that and you get lots of theoretical freedom but also harsh, insecure reality.

One could set up a big successful import-export business because there was demand for it and become a billionair but someone else could try a similar endeavour, fail and end up in prison because his competitor was friends with a prosecutor or with one of the many intelligence agencies. Not sure about your country but at least that is how it was in mine.
3266  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: different software showing different temperatures for GPU. What to believe? on: June 18, 2013, 01:39:20 PM
That's just weird that the temperature is so high then. I'm not overclocking, the desktop case is open on both sides and I have a fan (not a computer fan but a real fan) blowing at max directly into the board. The temperature shouldn't be that high!

What does GPU-Z show you under load?

What's your fan speed (in RPM)?

What are your clocks?

How much airflow is there / how is the GPU positioned?

For mining bitcoins you don't need a high VRAM clock so try to underclock it, though it can be a problem on the HD 6000 series.
3267  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: different software showing different temperatures for GPU. What to believe? on: June 18, 2013, 01:21:37 PM
So what you're saying is that in doubt I should trust GPU-Z?

Well, out of all the temperature reading software out there GPU-Z turned out to be the best for me for graphics cards.
3268  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: different software showing different temperatures for GPU. What to believe? on: June 18, 2013, 12:47:27 PM
Try GPU-Z it can read from more sensors than most temperature reporting software.

The differences that you see between the programs you mention is either a) buggy software / your GPU is new and the software is not up to date or b) they read from different sensors.
3269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering Coins from a lost or destroyed computer. on: June 18, 2013, 12:32:14 PM
I recommend you make a backup after every transaction you make, because of hidden change addresses that you don't normally see.

No need for that, with the default keypool of 100 pre-generated addresses a backup only after every 100 transactions is required.
3270  Other / Meta / Re: Spamming to get the Hero status and get trust on: June 17, 2013, 08:17:33 PM
Reports I most often mark as bad are people reporting scammers, that's what scammer accusations is for.  Next most common bad report would be reporting others for bad language or being insulting.

It would be convenient if there was a way for the reporting person to see which exact reports where marked as 'bad' or 'correct' because sometimes it's not as clear as it may look.

For example:

- I learned from John that old threads are not moved for historical reasons (when I asked why the NMC thread wasn't moved to the alt-coin board)
- as for the bad language or being insulting - I think I only reported one such post, don't know if the report was marked as 'good' or 'bad' but I've done because it conveyed no other message apart from the insult, it was deleted after I complained somewhere that it wasn't being deleted Tongue
Could someone comment whether this post is still valid/relevant?

Quote
1. Free speech - you can say anything as long as it is relevant and presented in a calm and polite manner. Swearing, SHOUTING etc. make your post more likely to be removed.

Many users posts' are not ''calm and polite''* and are not deleted, could that post be edited to reflect the current moderating policies?

Are posts to be reported and deleted if they are in any way insulting and add no value to the topic (either the rest of the post is off-topic or it consists of the insult only)?
Are posts to be reported and deleted if they are excessively* insulting and add no value to the topic (either the rest of the post is off-topic or it consists of the insult only)?
Are posts to be reported and deleted if they are in any way insulting but at least in some way are on-topic?
Are posts to be reported and deleted if they are excessively insulting but at least in some way are on-topic?

*I know these terms are not absolute etc.
3271  Other / Meta / Re: Spamming to get the Hero status and get trust on: June 17, 2013, 04:41:51 PM
I guess we should just report the post if they contribute to the thread and just say a few words. So what's you're input on 'reserved' posts.
Should they be allowed? They are one word replies but a lot of people use it, and I guess it is actually very useful. Especially if you are the original thread poster.

If you run into the post size limit through edits, I can create an extra post for you below the first post. No need to worry too much about this.
3272  Other / Meta / Re: Forbidding useless posts when user has a paid signature on: June 17, 2013, 04:40:39 PM
If it annoys you, just install ad-block and make a rule for the signatures to block them. Since only a couple of people do it at the moment and they do it with very distinctive colours and codes this should be easy.

No need for that.
Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> Don't show users' signatures.

I guess if it becomes a problem the users giving away the money would probably just not give money out to such users.

Not necessarily. It benefits them if their ads are more conspicuous (though it can have an inverse effect if they become annoying).

As for the OP . . . +1

Find an abandoned house / appartment no too close to you place and use the address of the abandoned house / appartment.

Before using this address check whether it's not already occupied by squatters.

What's a squatter?

Yeah, I reported that post too, but not the first time.

And I reported it now again, after you edited the post to do it again.
3275  Local / India / Re: New Posts on: June 17, 2013, 03:22:07 PM
OK, I have resubmitted the reports.

Very often when I report posts I do it in the following format:

-> SECTION

where ''->'' stands for ''shoulve be moved to'' and ''SECTION'' stands for the name of the appropriate forum section/board

I've worded myself differently this time so it should be clear now Smiley

3277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To get mass adoption we need to sort out these decimals on: June 17, 2013, 02:53:32 PM
You are not the first to come up with this idea, e.g. Blockchain.info allows the users to view their balances in milibitcoins (mBTC)

There's no we need, you are free to fork the client yourself and introduce these changes, it's all here for free.

I think the price and adoption is still too low to bother much about and people will probably arrive to similar conclusions as you.

Oh, and you forgot about one unit, Gavins - 5430 satoshis

Isn't a month enough for people to get used to the new sections? I reported a few posts that should be move to the mining and marketplace sections and soon after that my reporting accuracy dipped from 94 to 92%.
