Everything is up and looks bright as ever. Is the bloodbath over?
Yes. I hope you managed to top up your bags on the way down?
3283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: About the "Unknown block versions being mined!" warning on: July 18, 2017, 07:32:23 AM
If you are using Bitcoin Core and derivative software, then you may have noticed that there is now a warning that states:
Quote
Warning: Unknown block versions being mined! It's possible unknown rules are in effect

This warning will appear at the top of the Bitcoin Core GUI and reported in the errors or warnings field of the getinfo, getnetworkinfo, and getmininginfo RPC commands.

This warning is triggered when more than 50 of the last 100 blocks have a version number that Bitcoin Core does not expect. Currently that is being triggered by miners mining for BIP 91 (aka the first half of segwit2x). These miners are setting bit 4 of the block version field, and Bitcoin Core does not expect this to be set.

The version numbers that Bitcoin Core expects are 0x20000000 (536870912) and 0x20000002 (536870914). The unexpected version numbers currently are 0x20000012 (536870930) and 0x20000010 (536870928).

Currently this warning is benign as there is no fork and no new network rules have activated. Your coins are not at risk.

Maybe you could pin this and lock the thread where the member is intentially fudding over this?

If anyone is still confused or alarmed by this rather dumb thread, one of the forum mods has posted a far more sensible one here to explain what's happening.  It's not a cause for concern, with the possible exception that one might expect better behaviour from longstanding forum members.  Stop scaring the newbies, Meuh6879.

See the sensible explanation below:

3285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Live test; BTC Transaction versus USD Wire Transfer on: July 17, 2017, 07:25:15 PM
Just for the fun of it, I decided to run a real life, real money test to compare the efficacies of a BTC Wallet based transaction versus my old world, USD Bank based wire transfer.

Within a matter of days of each other, I purchased two pieces of mining hardware from a reputable manufacturer in China with a solid Customer Service record. On June 19th, I bought one unit and used a USD Wire Transfer to make payment to the overseas Co. Then on June 21st, I purchased another unit, same machine, but used a BTC transfer from my wallet. After 25 days the final results are in.

USD Wire Transfer;
The cash was immediately deducted from my US bank based account on June 19th. It then went into "banking limbo" for 21 calendar days. On July the 10th, the Chinese intermediary bank acknowledged receipt of the funds I sent on June 19th. On July 15th the Chinese Co. acknowledged the receipt of the funds to their Co. account. On July 17th, my account and order were updated as " Paid pending shipment".  After much nervousness, emailing, stopping in the bank and updating "transfer info" with the recipient company, almost 1 MONTH later the transaction was completed.

BTC Wallet Transfer;
Upon placing my order online, I received the BTC address to transfer my payment to. I entered it into my mobile phone, put in the exact amount of the purchase and hit "send" from my BTC wallet on my mobile app. ( of course I only keep enough on my mobile app to complete immediate transaction ). Literally within 10 minutes, my payment was received by the recipient Co., Confirmed as received and my pending order updated to " Paid pending shipment". 10 MINUTES!

While there is still work to do, I think it is highly unlikely that such an archaic, clumsy and inefficient banking system can survive the ensuing block chain onslaught.

Death to traditional banking!

Long Live The Block Chain!!!
Great experiment and that's for sharing.
3286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit and the August 1st potential split explained in simple terms on: July 17, 2017, 07:05:33 PM
Segwit is a scam.  Do some research. Check r/btc

This here! Support http://www.bitcoinabc.org Satoshi's true bitcoin.

Roger Ver/Jihad/Craig Wright sockpuppets. Reddit is a shithole period. There will be no hardfork because all hardfork proposals are trash. Going into the forked chain will result in loss of purchasing power as the forked token crashes into the ground. Do not support any hardforked token unless you want to lose money.

In other words, you have nothing to add to this discussion. Bye brainwashed Core worshiper. Can't wait until you fools will be worshiping an altcoin or be out of bitcoins way entirely.
Dear god, you can't even post a useful guide to others without it being hijacked by trolls trying to push their own agendas down your throats.

The FUD is strong with this one.
3288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit2x support growing day by day, WHY FORK FUD and PANIC on: July 17, 2017, 04:57:49 PM
Ok, so yesterday, July 16, SegWit2x support was 87.7%. Today it has increase to 88.2% and keeps growing.

https://coin.dance/blocks

Still I see tons of people crying about potential fork. Cmmon people, we all know by the end of this week SegWit2x support s probably going to go over 95%. Why do you buy that FUD about Bitcoin fork?
Regardless what you think about this Bitcoin core vs Miners debate, do you really think a fork supported by 3-4% of the miners is a sustainable Bitcoin chain?

As usual, panic makes weak hands sell and they lose money. The purpose of this thread is make people think twice before they sell coins they purchased at a premium. Dont let be manipulated by pumpers&dumpers and do not let panic gets you.

Dont let pointless panic redistributes your money from impatient to more patient traders, as Mr. Buffett would say.

Gud thread. I agree the FUD has to stop. Use this as a buying opportunity to fill your bag hodlall.
3289  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buckle Up: Bitcoin Price Heads For Below $2,000 As August 1 Nears on: July 15, 2017, 07:16:32 PM
So much FUD being spread it's pretty disgusting.
3290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why everyone are nervous for the segwit2x fork? on: July 15, 2017, 01:55:36 PM
They are nervous becasue instead of working together as one to successfully implment SegWit2x both sides continue to quarrel, troll, and bitch about the other, meanwhile the price of Bitcoin goes to dirt.

Are you scamming? You seem a bit irate.
3294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: August 1 is near on: July 12, 2017, 07:00:49 PM
Every one is persuming that Bitcoin hard fork result will be same just like ETH had his hardfork and it failed and the price went down to 90% below it and it took so much time to reach back its high price. So Bitcoin will also fell down first and then their will be rise.

Now everyone is just waiting for August 1 till then their wont be any major activity with bitcoin

So until August 1st there will not be any movement, but do you have an idea of what will happen at this moment ? I am starting to gather positions of people to know what to do until then.
Are you a day trader? Why do you need to gather peoples positions to know what to do until then? Just hodl and forget about it.

You guys are all dickheads. Instead of trying to resolve Bitcoins issues together you just want to sit back and moan and criticise others work. Look what you've done to Bitcoins price. Well done you. Here's a cookie.  Roll Eyes
