3301  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nefario on: October 30, 2012, 08:19:09 PM
I would like to hear what theymos and the other shareholders think at the moment. I mean are they still confident that nefario is handling everything or did the opinion change. And if so and they say yes to backup the database just in case (they should be able to do so) can they still do this or did nefario block them out in the meanwhile. I mean nefario could get the double payment back even when he gave out asset info. Or he could keep only the assetinfos of the persons that dont want to give back double payment.

I really would feel better when the database would be shared with the other shareholders of glbse. Why not give coldhardmetal the database the same way he handled the paper wallet? It looks like all, including nefario, are trusting him. But i think only shareholders can bring this up because nefario isnt listening to others.
wat?

Theymos started a thread accusing Nef of being a scammer very soon after he shut down GLBSE (eta: this very thread, as it happens), and Nef's refusing to accept anything the shareholders want - refusing to step down as CEO, while also refusing to allow GLBSE to operate. http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=DRt78Vne
3302  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDK.BND (1%/week) *IN DEFAULT* on: October 28, 2012, 09:54:20 PM
Almost-Monday check-in (figured I should be early since I forgot to check in last week).

Nothing to report. I've tried poking the person who may've been interested in buying the JRO debt, but've heard nothing. He may still be meeting with JRO, postponed his semi-regular trip to 20M, or had no interest. Still not a single word from Nefario. I snagged a mostly-at-home job as a technical writer (manuals) for a family business in Jackson, which wouldn't pay living expenses were I to rely on it, so while I'm still hunting... Free escrow is back on. Reciprocating tips for bdk.bnd holders...  Undecided  Tongue

3303  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nefario on: October 28, 2012, 05:39:51 PM
Wait what? There are people who haven't being paid?

I got my coins...
Sub-accounts for Issuers haven't been paid. When someone creates a security on GLBSE, an account specifically for that security is created. So, Giga would have his normal gigavps account, but also a sub-account called GIGAMINING which has its own wallet, which is probably where he'd keep the bulk of his coins on GLBSE so he can quickly pay dividends.
3304  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nefario on: October 27, 2012, 09:44:46 PM
Because he already did?

And nefario isnt like pirate. He already paid a good bunch of money back. I never heard that pirate did this or any other scammer. It would hurt their scammearnings. So nefario isnt a scammer of this kind. He only handles this all not very well. If he really would be a scammer the only earning he could have get would be the user money lying on glbse. But he paid back already a good part. The assets are of no worth to him. So no earning from there too.

I think nefario should name the guys that hold the money not theirs but are from other users. Keeping other glbse-users money isnt showing the best character. And they should at least now know that keeping it will in no way put pressure on nefario. Its not his money so...
Pirate did repay a few people back within a couple weeks of "closing up." There's not much hard evidence aside a few people claiming they were repaid, some of them pretty trustworthy. I'd assume it was meant to boost confidence and buy extra time before lawsuits were filed.
3305  Other / Off-topic / Re: [FAIL CAPTAIN] Some Facts About Chaang Noi (Goat) ช้างน้อย on: October 26, 2012, 04:22:16 AM
If I post, I glorify a guy who talks to himself in place of friends, risk being known as someone who feels instead of thinks, and this thread will come up in the "new replies" list. Oh - and posting admits I clicked on this thread.

If I don't post, that Quinones guy could pop up and tell me I'm on a television show and I've disgraced my family by failing to react.

I guess many people have to weigh these probabilities, but... I really don't want that Latino guy popping out with a bunch of video and sound equipment. I can't even pronounce his fucking name... Queen Nyones? - And I really don't even know if he's Latino... Kind of looks like that George Saki guy... from Star Wars.
3306  Economy / Services / Free Escrow (no longer available) on: October 24, 2012, 02:13:13 PM

* * * * Escrow services are no longer available through me. I do not have the time. I recommend juggalodarkclow and johnthedong. If you're able, convincing Maged to handle escrow would be a smart move, too. * * * *

It's been a long while since I offered this publicly, but I find myself with a little extra free time. The escrow sheet (with both old and new transactions) can be found at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0Ao892S4MOoDZdFFTc0tFbWVxUTZFVzVOMWxzV3pkclE&output=html

Escrow is free, though I'd appreciate a tip, especially on large transactions.

Escrow basics:
Escrow acts as a way to protect buyers from scammers, and allow sellers to provide buyers with confidence in knowing they have nothing to lose should the seller be unscrupulous. Basically, the buyer sends funds to me, I confirm with the seller, then the seller is expected to send the goods paid for (he should send a tracking number to the buyer, and while he shouldn't send me the tracking number, should confirm with me that he sent it). Once the buyer confirms he's received the goods and they're in satisfactory condition, I send escrow funds to the seller. The buyer has seven days from when he receives the goods to when he needs to either confirm he wants escrow released, or dispute the transaction (otherwise, escrow automatically goes to the seller). Should the buyer not receive goods within 21 days of me confirming the buyer sent payment, the seller will be contacted to provide a tracking number, or at least insistence that he sent the goods. If 28 days have gone by since when I confirmed the buyer sent payment, I refund payment to the buyer assuming there has been no convincing evidence provided by the seller that he did indeed send the goods. If there's dispute, I'll arbitrate between buyer and seller, and whoever has the most convincing evidence will receive the coins (sellers should thus get a tracking number, and buyers should consider filming the unboxing of the product if it's valuable).

What I need:
*Escrow terms, agreed on by both buyer and seller -- you should both have seen and agreed to the amount which is expected to be paid by the buyer.
*The deal to be posted publicly on the forum. (If a seller just has a "[wts]" thread and they briefly confirm in there, that's fine)
*Receiving address for the seller.

Update markers buyer & seller receive:
*When entry is created in spreadsheet for the deal
*When I receive escrow coins from buyer
*When seller sends goods agreed on
*When item arrives
*When seller agrees to release escrow funds, closing the transaction

Escrow is kept in a non-spendable wallet with enough in it to cover transaction fees.

Still don't have a db verifying unit-holders, so interest won't be accruing for anyone today

Why does it matter wether unit-holders have been validated? You know how many shares are out and how much you owe to each of those shares, the interest should still be accruing. It should not matter who owns the shares, they should still be earning interest until this is all sorted out.
I am unable to pay off debt due to circumstances outside my control, increasing the interest I have to pay out as I'd otherwise be paying off principal. I'm not taking the liability of interest payments due to GLBSE's failure to give me a db immediately after or prior to shutdown as any reasonable company would do. Someone may successfully sue me for lost interest, and I'll use that as a basis to sue GLBSE. Otherwise, I'm not willing to negotiate this... unless the JRO debt is purchased and I'm feeling a bit less like a wroth, selfish asshole. Smiley

OK, that makes sense. Have you received any communication from GLBSE as an asset issuer?
Nothing at all. I haven't received the few coins in there, either, though I submitted a claim soon after the AML requirement came down. I've heard other Issuers saying they haven't had coins in sub-accounts (when you create an asset, it creates a "sub-account" to keep funds from mixing) refunded, and that's the only place my coins were, so it'll probably be worked out soon.

Earlier, I tried to reach Nef at a personal email address asking for a .csv of who owns what, since Issuers will have to do their own claims process anyway (unless they move to another exchange). As long as usernames match up, I really don't need any claim code scheme... It'd be more polished and smooth, but not any more useful (aside from being absolutely sure of ownership) than having everyone communicate directly with me given I have no intent to "re-issue" BDK.BND on another exchange, just pay directly to addresses until the debt's clear.

@Rygon: That's right. It could be good news. It's something to hope for, but probably not to expect. It could be possible that only a portion of the debt is purchased, which'd still likely give me the ability to buy out BDK.BND as soon as GLBSE gives me the means to do so. It'd be great for everyone involved. JRO'd get a debt-holder who isn't losing his shit and sending out demand letters, I'd get back thousands of coins, BDK.BND and BDK holders get repayment relatively quick, and nobody has to touch the US "justice" system.

I love this. Atlas as an enforcer for the very thing he hates most.
I have a feeling Atlas could make far more money breaking rules than the salary given to enforce them. Atlas could be paid by the government to do exactly what they're trying to stop. - But then Atlas would probably take it too far and start distributing knives should a prisoner's natural rights be violated by the Oppressors. The power'd go to his head, he'd be corrupted, and he'd only arm the "Individuals' Voluntary Union for Liberation of Unjustly Imprisoned Ubermensch, Wayward Correctional Facility Branch." The IVULUIUWCFB then turns into a "libertarian mafia," where dues are collected, and unaffiliated inmates are assuredly given their right to "Choose," as demonstrated by their choice to convert to Randianism or have their throats cut open.

Eventually, the criminally insane voluntary union of libertarian liberators would free themselves of undue oppressive shackles (temporarily) by violently taking over the prison and raping, then murdering any guard which did not submit to Atlas' rule. Within three hours, special forces teams were assembled, and Atlas was soon-after captured. Atlas and affiliated individuals are re-tried and re-imprisoned, despite Atlas & Associates' best effort to convince the jury that they were only trying to reclaim the natural rights taken away by aggressors. Atlas, in an autobiography, would go on to write how wonderful it was to be around like-minded individuals who stood up against The State, a sentiment he was apparently alone in. Labeled "The Aural Rapist" by fellow in-mates, Atlas's warden and superiors soon became a center of controversy upon scraping all flesh off Atlas' bones with a grapefruit spoon after unsuccessfully petitioning for Atlas to be relocated.
3310  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDK.BND (1%/week) *IN DEFAULT* on: October 15, 2012, 08:02:42 AM
Monday check-in.

Have about 5% of all BDK.BND units accounted for from claim forms, 0% of BDK units, so... long while to go. Still don't have a db verifying unit-holders, so interest won't be accruing for anyone today -- it's looking unlikely that I'll receive a .csv before any other Issuers. On my repayment front, it's looking moderately possible I'll have my JRO debt purchased by Saint Anonymous in 2-3 weeks, which'd provide enough to pay back all BDK.BND-holders in one go, pay off BDK-holders in a more favorable manner than under the negative equity provision, and even pay off debts taken out to pay off debts. Wouldn't be debt-free, but at least the remaining debt wouldn't have a crushing interest rate and'd be denominated in something which consistently loses value instead of being at risk of 10% swings day-to-day.
3311  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama or Romney ? on: October 14, 2012, 12:14:56 PM
just sent in my early ballot.. Romney all the way!  just wouldn't feel right voting for a commie.
Gah. I hope you were talking about the Communist Party candidate. Obama could hardly even be called a progressive. The only real difference between Obama and Romney is black and white.... or blue and red - the rest is all marketing. One wants to continue (and/or has a history of continuing) social and corporate welfare, while expanding military adventurism, and the other wants to continue (and/or has a history of continuing) social and corporate welfare, while expanding military adventurism - and neither has a comprehensive plan to pay for these programs (less "by 2020, my plan will have eliminated our deficit... (but when the people who aren't grandfathered into their welfare being cut are about to feel it, politicians revert, and nothing changes."). - And that's not even the worst of it. When these fucks are compromising, the end product is corporatism -- government funding select corporations for welfare/warfare handouts... because having the government do the work is "Communism," so that's the great accomplishment Republicans have given the US: instead of citizens paying the government to direct money, citizens pay the government to pay the corporations to direct money. Great. I swear - the only thing going for Obama is that he isn't Romney - and the only thing going for Romney is that he isn't Obama. We've got this.... fucking......... - and..... ugh - out of whiskey, again.

Err - in case that was directed at me, I meant "take" as in "accepted," not "steals." I'd guess for commercial sites using Bootstrap, they're about 4x to 5x more likely to accept Bitcoin than any other commercial site.
3314  Economy / Goods / Re: Amazon.com $100 claim code for $102 BTC equivalent on: October 12, 2012, 04:18:20 AM
Kind of thread-shitting here, but there certainly are quite a few extremely reputable people around here selling Amazon codes well below face value for BTC. Occulta furnished my kitchen at an extremely good price.  Smiley

This is pretty good. I'm surprised nobody showed interest when it was posted. It's shockingly relevant, even a full year after being posted, which is something like a century in Bitcoin-years.

Anyone know where else the OP writes?
3316  Economy / Securities / Re: Verifing account of GLBSE discussion on: October 12, 2012, 02:30:17 AM
So how is GLBSE going to pay us back if he spends it on lawyers?

Not hard to figure out. He just won't pay you back.

Pirate did that too.

Bitcoinica as well..

Any big names I'm missing?

Theres a reason bitcoinica and glbse are similar.

what is it?
They both used Bootstrap, like almost every other website which takes Bitcoin?
3317  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDK.BND (1%/week) *IN DEFAULT* on: October 12, 2012, 02:27:13 AM

Here is the form I'd appreciate unit-holders sending to the email address associated with the public key:

How do we know which email address is associated with that public key?
If using GPA, create a .txt file, enter my public key in there, save it. Open up GPA, goto "Keys"->"Import Keys" and navigate to the txt file you saved. Click "OK" on the popup and the associated email address will be displayed in your keyring.

Idunno for other clients.
3318  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall (Translators wanted) on: October 11, 2012, 05:38:15 AM
Signed up and posted one item (68 pounds copper pennies) to see how the whole process goes. A little nervous about the forced escrow thing but will giving it a shot. Thanks for the merchant friendly alternative listing site.

The affiliate program is interesting. So I just post the referral link to advertise your site, hope people click it, and contribute as both a seller and buyer?

But you have two links in there:

Is there a difference between them other than the length?

Also, is it safe that the user ID number that you identify my username with is in the referral link open to the public if posted?

PS: Hope you don't mind the offsite link to my website. I have no intentions of trying to drive traffic offsite as your fee pricing is very reasonable and I'm actually interested in the acquisition of bitcoins. The link is there to help validate myself as a seller given I have no feedback or verification on your site.
Referral system is great. I snagged ~15 users within a bit over a month around March. If I didn't previously have a bunch of stuff to link to, and now feel I have too dubious a reputation, I think I'd have a decent income just putting http://bitmit.net/en/?ref=1471 back in my sig. :p

I think the longer ref ID is if you want people to know your name is attached to the account you're referring them to. If you didn't, you could just use the referral ID, which I don't believe is able to identify you.

For those referred, tosaki's done pretty well to prevent you from knowing who's bought what while keeping everything pretty transparent. You see the usernames of who you referred, but while I've tried (just to check!), there doesn't appear to be any way to definitively tell which user made which purchase, as all you see in the "commissions" window is which User ID made which purchase, but you are never given referred users' ID #. The commission window also gives the sales # when you're given a cut, but if you try to navigate to that order #, you'll get "You do not have permission to view this order." So, if you only have one or two users, you may be able to tell who bought something and how much they spent, but you're unable to tell what exactly they bought, and if you have many referred users, you'd have no idea what any individual was actually buying. The privacy protection there is pretty solid.

I've done a few transactions through BitMit. When I was originally trying it out around the beginning of the year, it was very clunky, and I often wouldn't get notifications of stuff happening, commissions would sometimes in weird chunks and sudden multiple credits, but now everything seems to be running buttery smooth. Tosaki's really made some incredible improvements over time on a great idea, and BitMit is a great asset to the community.
3319  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Meanwhile in Orlando... on: October 11, 2012, 04:53:33 AM
Do they do anything to promote awareness about the fact that they accept Bitcoin to the average customer? Although I'm not sure how practical that really is...

Server: We accept cash, all major credit cards, and Bitcoin.
Customer: What's Bitcoin?
Server: Bitcoin is an alternative to cash some people prefer using. It's digital in a way where you can store it on your phone with a password instead of keeping wads of cash on you. Just scan a code using your smartphone, hit "send" and you've paid your balance. You can read more about it at bitcoin.org if you're really interested.

3320  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDK.BND (1%/week) *IN DEFAULT* on: October 11, 2012, 04:42:54 AM
Working on work-arounds if I either do not receive or cannot legally act on db furnished by GLBSE. I don't know if my work-around will work, and relies on a third-party who I do not intend to discuss.

I do not intend to act on claims sent to me without me being given a current db (which I trust) of unit-holders noting a username and how many units they hold.

Here is the form I'd appreciate unit-holders sending to the email address associated with the public key:

**ENCRYPT USING GPG! PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME "NAKED" INFORMATION!! See bottom of message for public key to use.**
Code:
GLBSE username:
# of BDK units you own:
# of BDK.BND units you own:
GPG Public Key (if not signed):
Non-Throwaway Email Address (if not associated with key and you used a throwaway address to send from):
BTC Address to Receive Payouts:
**ENCRYPT USING GPG! PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME "NAKED" INFORMATION!! See bottom of message for public key to use.**

Additional notes, mostly for legal reasons:
*I will not be reimbursing any dividends you may have lost on GLBSE. It is your responsibility to reclaim anything I've paid on GLBSE, not mine.
*I will be filing for a scammer tag if you write me to say you own units, and it turns out you have never owned any.
*I will pay out when I have a usable db. I am making no guarantees as to when this may be. Payouts may begin as early as tomorrow, or as late as January, 2025. I am not even necessarily guaranteeing payout -- it relies on me being provided a trusted db I can legally use.
*BDK.BND is still in default and I still do not have enough to pay everyone out in full. For "soft debt" to begin accumulating interest again, I both need to be furnished a trusted db of unit-holders, and I need unit-holders to individually verify their holdings with me. BOTH of those conditions must be met both for payout and for "soft debt" to begin accruing.
*I will publicly note when I have received a trusted db.
EDIT: If GLBSE sends me a db which already includes the information I've asked for AND I can legally act on it, I will use that, and assuming you checked that you want Issuers to receive the email & payout address you provided, it would not be necessary to also send me identical information. Basically, give info for me and hope I'm provided a db by a third party, or give info to GLBSE and hope they provide me a db, or do both and pat yourself on the back for being aggressively diligent.
