Looks dangerously ..
But how we can be sure that all of the 5000 infected pc's have BTC wallet? I don't think there is so many BTC users..
This story is nice speculation.
Thanks for warning.

I guess you've missed the case. This virus doesn't steal any BTC directly from wallet.

It's using the virus to sell unlocker via BTC.
Check this link; http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/cryptolocker-criminals-earn-30-million-100-days-1429607
This was 1 year ago.

This virus got popular last a few months. And they made big score again...
3302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: pc vs. mac and wallet.dat file on: December 19, 2014, 08:38:31 PM
Filetypes and File Systems are different things.

X,Y,Z filesystems can support any filetypes.
The diffrence between those filesystems are just minor issues, for instance X filesystem stores these files as small parts, Y doesn't.
X filesystem uses linked list to reach these files but Y file system uses something else.
3303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: windows has closed port 8333 EDIT - database corrupt problems. on: December 19, 2014, 08:35:24 PM
Well, If the database corrupt, maybe your hdd is needed to be repaired.
I think you should use chkdsk to identify & correct your hdd.

yasa; yıllık hesaba giren 25.000 TL ve üzeri her para denetime tabidir. kaynağı belirsiz ise (fatura kesilmemiş ise) maliye durumu farkedip sağlam ceza yazar, paypal'dan hesaba gelen 15 tl için bile soruşturma açar her türlü para girişini vergilendirip üstüne ceza yazar.

tavsiyem; 2014 içinde 20.000 TL'lik kısmını nakite çevirsin
ocak 2015'te 20.000 TL'lik kısmını nakite çevirsin

kalan kısmı da elden satsın (havale-eft kullanmadan).

edit: ek olarak tamamını nakit karşılığı satarsa takip edilemeyeceğinden (kendisi gidip bankaya yatırmazsa) yine sıkıntı yok.

trojan vede phishing arasındaki fark nedir biri anlatabilirmi?

I bet on "Russians".

There's a virus called "Cryptolocker" which is Russian made.

They're selling "unlocker software via bitcoin". I guess there're lots of people who caught this virus...

Did you check your pc?  Wink
If people will buy more BTC price will be rising .. no dropping.. Smiley

Nope, your logic is just so simple. You're thinking one way.

These hackers collect BTC in time so Price isn't affected too much. Day traders got their purchase profit.

Then hackers dumped those BTCs.

Do you need further explanation?

No Smiley of course now i get it Smiley
But seriously - do you think that they are earning so much?
Imagine that; "virus + spam" can reach millions of people.  (let's say 2 million people got it)
Only 0.1% of it believed this spam and run it and got virus. So there's 2000 infected pc's.
If they're connected a local network; virus will spread.
Let's say; total 5000 pc's got virus.
If these people are dumb enogh to got it; They can't clean it.
So at least 50% of them have to buy the unlocker...
2500 people just pays 1 btc to buy it.
That's nearly 1 million USD. It's quite enough to crash the market.

Just a reminder; these russian guys are smart enough so they're working regional. For instance; There're ~35 million ADSL user. And most of them are using TTNet. Those guys used a phishing page to infect pc's.
TTNet published a post about it to warn customers. (In Turkish); http://www.ttnet.com.tr/bireysel/Hakkinda/duyurular/Sayfalar/TTNET-E-Fatura-E-Mail-Bilgilendirmesi.aspx
Turkey's biggest btc market published a post about this virus recently (In Turkish); http://blog.btcturk.com/?p=2051

If you're paying more than 1 person at the same time; you can make "bulk transactions".

Here's a topic about it; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=197444.0

Hi, I would like to suggest a feature.
Nokia has developed a software called "street view", a preview;

I think you may add something like that;
"If there're 10+ stores in 0.5 km radius, a streetview icon appears and user can navigate by camera like nokia did".
These numbers are just samples, you can optimize it of course.
3317  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Open Source Hardware Wallet Project on: December 18, 2014, 09:01:52 PM
Hello guys, I propose to create "Open Source Hardware Wallets" project.

There're lots of "open source embedded mini computers" like arduino, raspberypi etc.
Also those mini computers run linux distros.
Why don't we develop an "open source hardware wallet"?

I think we can develop 3 types of those wallets:

Open Source Hardware Wallet Mini;
A raspberrypi ~40$ (to run multibit etc lightweight wallet, because of lack of memory to save blockchain data)
Camera module: ~30$ (to read qr codes)
Mini LCD: ~15$ (to show balance etc)
Numeric Keypad: ~5$ (to unlock wallet, pin entering would be vulnerable)
Wifi adapter: ~10$  (to download blockchain only)
simcard reader: ~10$ (to broadcast tx'es only)

~110$

Open Source Hardware Wallet Standard;
A raspberrypi ~40$ (to run bitcoin-core wallet)
Camera module: ~30$ (to read qr codes)
Mini LCD: ~15$ (to show balance etc)
Fingerprint scanner: ~50$ (to unlock wallet, pin entering would be vulnerable)
Wifi adapter: ~10$  (to download blockchain only)
simcard reader: ~10$ (to broadcast tx'es only)
64 GB microSD card: ~15$ (to save blockchain data)

~170$

Open Source Hardware Wallet Plus;
Gps (if you loose/are stollen wallet, it sends location data via simcard, and you can send a command via sms to wallet and it starts to send GPS data to you via simcard).
RFID/NFC etc - (if bitcoin companies develop a pay&pass system with one click, these units can be added on it).

Probably ~250$

What do you think about a hardware wallet that you can completely rely on? How can it be developed further?

Ps: I'm not selling any hardware wallet or releated parts. I'm not planning to sell this kinda product.  Anyone can create/develop similar projects, I don't develop such thing right now, This is just a thought.
