Technical masternode help requestedDyslexic_Zombei has allegedly lost access to one of his masternode addresses (node 3) due to a 'phantom self-payment' and he says the address is disassociated with the wallet and his blockchain file is corrupt or something. See his posts here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=626715.msg7888788#msg7888788 Could we get some help on this from El Presidente or even a glance by Evan or InternetApe? He's blaming the issue on Evan essentially, saying the community has been no help and he is claiming the Darkcoins are irrecoverable due to Evan's 'beta software'. Sounds to me like that story: when the Mt Gox guy (Mark Karpeles) blamed BTC's code to be 'broken' and ran off with the money !! tungfa, I've been trying to wrap my head around Ethereum. Some of the things I thought Masternodes could do, Ethereum is focusing on. Basically they're doing a brand new web infrastructure. Thing is, I don't know how private it is. I don't see how they will be obfuscating ip addresses or exchanging coins. Of course they can just implement DarkSend once it's open. However, as I understand it, their foundation code is different from Bitcoin's. I'm trying to understand what they can really do, and how we might fit into that infrastructure. It's very broad reaching, and if it works, which I hope it will, I want to see how DarkCoin can take advantage of it.... so I'm thinking..... and can't write! LOL. Well maybe it's possible for MNs to each host a service that does whatever noip does... We'd benefit ourselves and put noip out of business with their poxy 19 servers... edit: distributed dynamic dns running on the MN network would be fantastic. Goodbye DDOS attacks. Another excellent idea! Yes, we'd also get rid of that pesky centralization! Hey Tanteyes Etherreum is a headfuxx .... hard to understand what they are actually aiming for , and using those 6 Mill US$ (and counting ...) for ! But, as all the others , it is just promises for now and nothing (they really have NOTHING except of a great PR campaingn) in code! So i would not worry about that department for your story. DRK is running it's own network (857 MN's and counting), decentralized, RC4 coming (incl open source) and on and on ... concentrate on what we (DRK) has going for itself and where we (DRK) will go next (RC4) as these are NOT promises, this is hard code ! You know, I'm on this thread because I'm interested in Darkcoin. I sometimes go out to see if anything is interesting, and in 6 months, nothing has been interesting once I understood it. IF I ever posted on another thread, it was always with respect. But my posts have been so few. I wouldn't think of trolling, and I think anyone who thinks they have a free pass to troll because they saw someone troll on their favorite coin's thread isn't any better than a paid troll. Unless you really see a fault with the coin that hasn't been pointed out yet, or might not be known, and point it out in a polite fashion, you're trolling. I wouldn't risk maligning my user name to be so childish (actually, I stick my foot in my mouth here enough). Just a thought for you since you've been around a while it seems. The hacker on Mintpal will certainly make things interesting because the funds are now in Drk. If Drksend works, those funds will become untraceable. If not, the funds can be tainted. This will be an interesting real life test case.
That's a really good way to look at it. I wonder how many eyes are going to be on those DRK addresses in the near future?  Someone should make a post on bitcoin about the theft and Drk addresses they went to. It will absolutely demonstrate whether Darksend works (or not but I'm confident it will work). Thats a great idea. If thousands of people see addresses known to hold illeagally obtained coins and watch them transfer to parts unknown without the use of expensive, complicated money laundering techniques, it would be very good for the black market folks. For governments and police to see something they know is stolen and be helpless to watch it go untraced is a powerful message. I realise that is a nefarious use of the coin, but that is also the reality. 2FA peeps. Great PR gig if that works out .....>> |

I'm self employed freelancer with barely any real work, in a country that was financially raped to the ground by the European Central Bank, the IMF and f*cking Moody's and Standard's & Poors
I used to be friends with a bloke that sold financial instruments at UBS (Small swiss investment bank). When the complex products first came out (Credit Default Swaps) etc and the market was making a killing (100-150 basis points) on each instrument, here's what they used to do. They used to bribe the likes of Standard and Poors/Moody's, have a look at their rating algorithm's, and tweak their products in the right places to give them a AAA credit rating. They would sell these instruments for Millions, knowing full well that they were toxic, with a AAA credit rating... When it went south and the instrument collapsed, get this, UBS would offer to "re-structure" a client's portfolio, for additional fees... The sales guys used to call it "Double Dipping" and they would get massive bonuses for it. When these fuckers come after Crypto in general, I'm gonna hit up Camo for some Ammo Exactly this is why crypto-currencys are getting more and more unstable... more of these people seems to join this community movement. well, i think this is a precautionary issue. Why run the risk with using an american company and/or hosting your masternode in the US? There are plenty of comparable hosting companies located outside of the US. It will cost the same/cheaper and you are further decentralizing the network, by not having 50% of the masternodes ran in the US by amazon. Why run the risk when it can be avoided?
yes i agree (and i will get my next MN somewhere else) but that whole paranoia that the NSA is everywhere and can do anything is just bullshit ! you might see that in hollywood movies but not happening in real life ! |

at the moment marketcap is at 7Mio$ and its still climbing. i expect it to be something like 40mio$ in the end.
so it comes to the question what reward chance is there left if everybody who wanted to buy some has got some....

Why are people thinking that there is a cheaper alternative when the node pays for itself in a day or two or three, that leaves the rest of the month with pure profit. I cant believe that people are that cheap. This is a revolutionary thing we are all participating in.. really? And you want to save a few dollars. Man ... :facepalm: wow, just wow. So now we are getting facepalmed for watching the costs ? really ? I definetely dont like the tone of yr reply. Anyone setting up MN's should act according their own priority's, whether thats price, location or safety of service provided. Maybe he didn't go about in the most diplomatic fashion but I think he is absolutely right. Advising that everyone should set up MNs according to their own priorities is ok to a certain extent but it's not necessarily in the best interests of darkcoin for everyone to do that. Hypothetically, if a hosting provider offered 5 years of free unlimited hosting surely it would be in the best interests of most masternode holders to sign for a service which costs nothing. Would it be in the best interests of darkcoin for every maternode to be hosted with the same provider? Absolutely not. A look at http://drk.poolhash.org/mnode.html shows that close to 44% of masternodes are hosted with Amazon. Sure they're in different locations but they still belong to the same entity. 20% belonging to Choopa (Vultr) is quite a lot too. Are Darkcoin's masternodes truly decentralised? Perhaps, but if everone signed up to a service just because it were free, the masternode network would be basically centralised, regardless of whether the nodes are hosted by the same entity in one country, or different countries. Because while network issues could be technical, there could also be legal or political issues. I put it to you that not everyone is acting purely out of self interest when they select their masternode host. No doubt there are those who are struggling to pay the bills but I seriously doubt that is most people who own masternodes. Each one is currently valued at about $5 500. The Masternode network should be more decentralised and that is the responsibilty of the Masternode owners. Well said. come on and relax you really think amazon is gonna go through their whole world wide servers to 'hunt' down MN's !?! You are watching too many movies ! No way !! ....>>  |

NSA-proofing is the last layer so that you can also be safe vs the US government surveillance.
Alex, how does one NSA proof a network? start by not running masternodes on american hosting companies. (ie, get away from amazon). what are other (none Amazon and outside USA) suggested servers ??
