3301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM ICOs, what we can do? on: November 11, 2019, 03:27:55 PM
Some ICOs are scam, some are abundant by founders and some fail miserably. Only few gave huge returns to there investors.
Apart from your research, its luck also that matters while you choose an ico for investment.
IEO is solution for ico scam. If you dont wanna take risk and be 100% sure of project legitimacy then IEO is for you. Though I doubt return on IEOs will be under a limit.
3302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that cryptos such as Bitcoin would be mainstream? on: November 11, 2019, 12:18:03 PM
Majority of governments all around the world are showing zero tolerance towards cryptocurrency since they believe it will take financial control away from them. Let's hope something good comes out very soon so that BTC along with other CC will be used in mainstream payment system.
3303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Bitcoin lower its carbon footprint? on: November 11, 2019, 11:42:48 AM
It is 2019, there are climate protests nearly every day all around the world. Meanwhile bitcoin is consuming more energy than a small country

In my opinion the bitcoin network needs to take responsibility and change so that it has a smaller footprint, it just isn't responsible to burn such a large amount of energy for such little utility. I honestly felt a little ashamed when I read that for a single transaction Bitcoin uses the amount of energy that could power an US home for 22 days! [1] This number will only be going up as the price rises.

Yes, I know this energy is securing the network, which is of course very important.
But shouldn't we try to find a way to minimize this energy consumption. Shouldn't we be looking for alternative methods? Maybe even something like Proof of Stake? There has to be a better way.

Or do you think that electricity consumption is not bad in itself, just the way it is made. eg. If all of bitcoin was powered by solar, it would be fine.

[1] https://digiconomist.net/bitcoin-energy-consumption

Its known for many years that PoW is responsible for securing the BTC blockchain at cost of too much energy consumption. Point is can we replace PoW in BTC with some echo friendly consensus algorithm like PoS or DPoS etc ? I dont think its possible now.
3304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to prepare for long term HODL on: November 10, 2019, 02:21:21 PM
Note: This is not about how to identify good coins to HODL
This is about how you can be a good long term holder

1. You must have another source of income
Either in crypto space or outside crypto space you must have other source of income, there was a time when i used to rely on coins i hold for monthly income but most time they failed me because some altcoins takes more than a month to add value. You can learn trading or find a better job to get constant income for your daily needs.

2. Not all altcoins are good for long term holding
Some altcoins are too weak to have better value overtime, these coins only add value to price once in a blue moon,WHY?because the power of demand is too low and they have no working product,i belief that working product is what makes a coin have many more investors

3.HODL Only Altcoins With Real Use Case
There are different categories of coins with use cases, many use case are weak use case, for example using fashion  designer to back a token is a weak use case to me because it means you can only use the token to buy the designer wears and many will call this a real use case? no it wont do very well.
Make sure that the real use case of every altcoins you hold will be very reasonable, the products backing them up must be something that is different and will catch the eye of investors, the usefulness  must be outstanding .

4. Stay Updated Always
Opportunity comes but once as many know it,so always stay updated about crypto, read crypto news online and keep tracks on your altcoins so that you wont miss future updated or even token swaps, some altcoins i hold have already switched to MainNet and im glad i dont missed the opportunity, you can use blockfolio app to track your altcoins.

Altcoin season is what many are waiting for, even new projects are waiting for altcoin season to return before they get listed on exchanges,im sure of one thing and that is good things dont come easily, today is bitcoin turn to reign and one day altcoins will have its day as well.

Great points. Point 2 and 3 are other way of saying, choose your coins wisely. Now wisely means invest in coins that have strong background, strong  team and have real world use cases. That requires research and spending time on crypto coins.
3305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: bitcoin and alts on: November 10, 2019, 01:41:25 PM
if bitcoin retraces now soon what will happen to alts? will they fall with it or will they rise how will it play out?

The way crypto makert is moving, it is evident that there is no future of Alt Coin without BTC.
Alt coins usually go up and down with BTC. Strong BTC is essential for strong action.
3306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Newbie trader be like on: November 10, 2019, 01:09:45 PM
I waste lot of money on trading. Without planning I lost every trade which mostly the problem. By the way it's only trial but I didn't want to stop.

Making plans is needed to have successfull trade. Without plan, you're giving away your holding out of you. The one lesson I learned about trading  is plans is very important. At the same time patience.

I always bear losses whenever I went for short term trading. You can have luck once or twice but not all the time.
Go for long term investment, if you really want to get huge profits.
3307  Economy / Speculation / Re: What Could Make Bitcoin Drop To $5? on: November 10, 2019, 12:24:28 PM
I was just wondering if it is possible. What event or series of events could crash the price of Bitcoin to $5? What will you do if that happens?

Seeing the adoption rate and current market capital of BTC, I dont think it's possible. But if this happens I will buy atleast 200 BTC.
3308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can more ATM's increase adoption for Bitcoin? on: November 10, 2019, 09:31:49 AM
I dont think installing more ATMs will help BTC adoption rather it may be other way around i.e. btc adoption in real world can increase demand for crypto ATMs.
3309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is happening with ETHEREUM Now? on: November 09, 2019, 08:08:41 PM
I want to know the opinion of all crypto friends in this forum about Ethereum, because the price of Ethereum is currently unable to rise beyond the $ 300 figure. ethereum prices are only between $ 150 - $ 250. and this incident makes me wonder, why did this happen to Ethereum ??
This is not only the case with Ethereum, but with other altcoins also. Crypto market is dry since the bullish run of December 2017, although there were a few swings. Be patient and accumulate Ethereum on dips, you will get benefits in the long run.

3311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is worth to invest in dogecoin? on: November 09, 2019, 06:01:00 PM
Dogecoin is a popular coin loved by all. But it has an infinite supply that hurts its price for long term.

The same holds true for ethereum, as it doesn't have any cap (correct me if I am wrong). But we see Eth price is way more then dogecoin.
It's good to have dogecoin in your portfolio, as they say, "every dog has its day"
3312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why hasn't any altcoin replaced bitcoin? on: November 09, 2019, 05:49:53 PM
That's because Bitcoin is the most decentralized and secure cryptocurrency till date despite having scalability issues. BTC dominance today is 66% and as far as I see Bitcoin will continue to rule in years to come.
3313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Honestly, do you guys think cryptocurrencies will be gone anytime soon? on: November 09, 2019, 05:28:44 PM
I haven't been trading my bitcoins and cryptos since this year begins, but I have noticed that the hype train is slowing down since then, compared to last year. I want some honest opinion about the future outlook of BTC or crypto per se. Should investors invest in it ?

First of all, nobody can predict with certainty how the future crypto market will look like. In my opinion, investment in crypto like BTC, ETH at dips are the best investment for short term gains. Choose the coins wisely else you may struck your investment.
