3301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zerocoin is like Bitcoin, Except It's Actually Anonymous on: October 11, 2013, 05:30:58 PM
As far as I know zerocoin is in alpha state at this moment, so it needs time and more active devs.

3303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Brand new kind virtual currency - CAPTCHA coin on: October 11, 2013, 05:10:14 PM
yeah its an ok idea, although i agree that there would be much better ways to require human input. how about a need for speed coin where every x amount of minutes there is a race in a game like need for speed and the winner of said race is reward with one block of coins.  that way you can't use child laborers (or at least if you do they will have fun!)  and you can accurately predict the generation curve.  You could make the tracks more and more difficult as more miners (ie racers) join the game.

Somewhere I've seen some ads about a minecraft server where you can get BTC for building or mining something. Maybe the easiest solution would be an EVE online ISK/BTC or an ISK/some altcoin exchange.
3304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Brand new kind virtual currency - CAPTCHA coin on: October 11, 2013, 04:58:47 PM
I think this is a really good idea. Certainly people who invested into mining gear will not like it. Shit happens, but who cares Smiley?
3305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worth it to mine? on: October 11, 2013, 09:52:14 AM
I think you can make more profit from trading and investing your money than from mining.
3306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2013-10-07 Bloomberg - Ripple takes on Western Union with deal to grow payments on: October 11, 2013, 09:43:34 AM
i think you mean Ripple. xrp is meant to be a currency, anyway. Ripple is the protocol. xrp are not IOUs, which you seem to be implying.

OK I was inaccurate. Ripple is the protocol and XRP is the medium. However I'm considering XRP as a promissory note (IOU) instead of currency.
3307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2013-10-07 Bloomberg - Ripple takes on Western Union with deal to grow payments on: October 11, 2013, 09:27:21 AM
Why people still don't understand that XRP isn't a currency. It's a protocol and a medium for exchanging stuff. Like a peace of paper. You can use it for printing money, or printing airmiles vouchers, or printing whatever you want. That number in your wallet is only something like a counter for your available sheets of paper.

3313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: REALSOLID AKA COINHUNTER What do you say about this? on: October 10, 2013, 10:27:21 AM
As far as I know nor BTC-e owners neither BTER owners published their real identity. Haven't seen such thing on Cryptsy as well. I think if we trading on an unregulated market we should not expect the same behavior as we expect in the case of a regular bank.
3314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The way I see altcoins (right now) on: October 10, 2013, 08:17:49 AM
Full of miners, empty of users. That's way they don't have merely any value.
Am I wrong?

Agree. Hopefully this will change in the next few years.
3315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Vote]Cryptsy's XPM market on: October 09, 2013, 09:32:41 AM
I think it was good idea. There are much more action since Cryptsy created the XPM market.

3318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Complaining About Miner Subsidy or Lack Of is ILLOGICAL on: September 22, 2013, 07:56:11 PM
This a fun coin for history books. Solarcx tried taking 50% of the coins, but ended up getting 100% as he was the only one mining Grin

The original threads are a good example that arrogance doesn't pay off.

That 100% is not exactly true. I also have some 50 ZTCs from a giveaway Smiley.
3319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Complaining About Miner Subsidy or Lack Of is ILLOGICAL on: September 22, 2013, 07:01:01 PM
Actually all three of the examples has little value. I guess this is not just coincidence.
3320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will the open source Ripple competitor look like? on: September 22, 2013, 05:26:47 PM
Well, unless they change it, the original plan was it to not be minable.  There will be nodes that will work on consensus and verifying transactions but no PoW mining.

Then it must be it's something similar to TimeKoin or eMunie.
