3321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC value sent differs from that in blockchain explorer on: January 24, 2021, 04:16:37 AM
Kindly help me sort this by cross-checking. In this particular transaction I paid out $170.95 but when I click on it in blockchain explorer it shows value as $462 when transacted.
In addition to the posts above: "blockchain explorers" (blockexplorers) can't tell which is the recipient's address(s) from your change address.
It will consider all of the outputs as the sent amount when you explored a TXID instead of an address.
3322  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Laptop won't boot, only have my password (no backup). Are my coins gone forever? on: January 24, 2021, 03:57:36 AM
My main concern with the drive was that all of the data recovery services say NOT to power on the drive after it has failed, or you risk further damage.
-snip-
If you're interested, here is a video where you can hear the awful sounds the laptop makes when trying to boot.
https://youtu.be/lUcboH-mtVc
With that screeching sound, you absolutely don't wanna plug and power that HDD!
That sounds like the actuator arm's head scratching the data platter because of some hardware failure, your data are being damaged whenever you hear it.

It's best to leave it to HDD hardware professionals.
3323  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Laptop won't boot, only have my password (no backup). Are my coins gone forever? on: January 23, 2021, 10:53:59 AM
Question: Can I recover my wallet using just a password and a copy of the Armory files? If so, how?
This depends on what "Armory files" you have.
If it's the data directory which consist of 'databases' folder, armorylog.txt, dblog.txt, then there should be some armory wallet files in there.
a wallet file named like "armory_xxxxxxx_encrypt.wallet" is basically the wallet itself.
If it's the install folder of Armory which contains the executables, then it's useless as a backup.

For the password, it's useless without a backup of the wallet file as you've read in that sticky thread.
3324  Other / Archival / Re: .. on: January 23, 2021, 03:59:47 AM
Why pay such a high fee just to save a message on the blockchain?
This has been answered but the main reason for the ridiculous fee is to ensure that there's a very high chance that it'll be displayed on top of all the transactions in that block (after the coinbase txn).
But as you can see in block height 666666, it failed to do so: 666666.
There's a transaction with similar motive (suspiciously an add) that beat it.
3325  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: make_seed command in console on: January 22, 2021, 04:08:38 AM
Based from the code [commands.py], there are only two optional arguments aside from from the language which are the --nbits and --seed_type.

By following what's written in the link, these examples should work:
Code:
make_seed(320,"","standard")
Code:
make_seed(320,"","2fa")
Without the "" at the middle, it'll take the "seed_type" as the language.

Walang tulugan?  :D
3326  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.com compromised by blcokchain.cm on: January 21, 2021, 01:08:18 PM
And the most important questions:
1. I have still some btc to move from interest to trading wallet. How can i be absolutely sure that the hacker is not quicker than me?
It'll be troublesome since the hacker already have access to your backup phrase, he must have restored it to a wallet that supports BIP39.
So, every time your main wallet receive a transaction, he can send it right away.

Sending it to your other account that's higher than the 10th index by creating more than 10 Bitcoin wallets in "Settings Icon->Wallets & Addresses" might do but the hacker must be monitoring those too.
So, try to convince the support (explain the situation) to let you send your Interest and Trading account balance to other wallets.

There may be more options because I'm not using the Interest and Trading feature of that wallet.
3327  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can I move bitcoins to a new address safely? on: January 21, 2021, 03:48:01 AM
Would it be to create a new Electrum wallet, pick an address from the list and then do an unsigned transaction?
I meant...to a new seed, unless there is an option to change the seed, which would provide the them result as moving the coins to a new one.
That'll work but since you've sent the funds to a new cold-storage wallet with a new seed, you'll have to create another watch-only wallet as an online pair.
Just re-do the "Create a watching-only version of your wallet" process described in your link.
3328  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.com compromised by blcokchain.cm on: January 21, 2021, 03:31:07 AM
Your Interest Account is associated with your Blockchain.com identity profile. If you lose access to your Blockchain.com Wallet, all you need to do is use your backup phrase to recover your wallet and then get re-verified in your new wallet to recover your Interest Account funds.
It does say the interest account is tied to your identity profile so maybe even if you verify a freshly made blockchain.com account, funds would still show up? However there is a chance you might trigger their flags and get your funds locked but hey it's better to deal with their support.

or..
Recovering your account thru blockchain.com does gives you a new wallet ID and such so it's pretty much a new shell/account but same wallet, maybe youll be able to access it fine this time. The hard part is because the wallet is already compromised it becomes a race between you and the hacker on which transaction gets to be confirmed first.
It's the mix of the two: It will create a new "wallet ID" and the the BIP39 supported accounts will be added automatically.
For the custodial accounts: he just need to provide the same "identity" like name, address, etc. and pass verification using the same credentials as the old wallet and his Interest and Trading accounts should be restored to the new wallet.
3329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transaction on: January 20, 2021, 01:07:19 PM
I'm using a BitGo web wallet.
-snip-
I have 0.00257779 BTC left in my wallet. Besides this unconfirmed transaction, nothing is pending in my wallet.

The only option beside send and receive that I have is setting custom fee...
Since there's no coin control and you have other unspent transactions, I'm afraid that all you can do is wait.

Can someone please also explain the following:

When I check my wallet I see this transaction dated 2021-01-18 and a negative red sum. When press F5 and refresh, I see it is green and todays date with green sum. Imo - green means my total balance should be increased as transaction returns, but it does not. Also I dont understand why I see same amount sent+fee, but total is 0,00496500 and 0,00499179.
It's because you've pasted the address on that blockexplorer (shown in the left side of the image). It's showing that the address: 3LURV5QPTb... has sent that total amount since it's in the input (sender) side.
For the right side of the image that displays the amount in green: It happens when you've search for the transaction ID instead; the inaccurate amount is because blockexplorers can't tell which is the change from recipient address, it will show the total value of the output(s) instead. It's green because it can't also tell if your address is one of the receiver or sender.
3330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transaction on: January 20, 2021, 08:36:09 AM
I'm using a web wallet. So I can not use RBF, childpayforparrent and other "smart words" you use.
What kind of web wallet?
Because depending on the situation, you may be able to perform a manual CPFP (Child Pay for Parent) transaction since the change has enough value:
3CPhBiQvhoFB3TC9aEpGFqbGGw6wGr1S1Y - 0.00009179 BTC

Example:
If you don't have any other balance in that web wallet aside from that change's balance and want to use that as additional fee:
just send the lowest standard bitcoin amount (546 satoshi) to any address and the wallet will spend that UTXO.
By spending it, you practically performed a CPFP that may increase the total fee of your transactions to 7-8 sat/vB.
If you have other unspent outputs in the wallet and it doesn't have a way to select inputs, do not recklessly send as the wallet may spend the other UTXO that wont help your stuck transaction.
3331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How do you make a non-spendable balance accessible in blockchain? on: January 20, 2021, 03:38:43 AM
The only transaction which was designed to be non spendable was the Genesis block between Satoshi and Hal (IIRC).
Hal didn't have to do anything with the genesis block.
He may be talking about the first bitcoin transaction by Satoshi and Hal but got mixed-up by the first bitcoin block.
Because both are "first".
3332  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.com compromised by blcokchain.cm on: January 20, 2021, 02:59:44 AM
-snip- I don't know for so far if my interest accounts are empty now? I did not see any further transaction so It should be there, but the main saldo says 0. I have sent a report to the customer support , so hope they get back to me. I would like to share the printscreens so that you can see how it looks. It should not happen to others en Blockchain.com should examen this.
FYI, your Interest and Trading wallets aren't backed-up by the recovery phrase, controlled by blockchain.com and can't be sent to external wallet addresses,
if the hacker successfully logged in your account for some reason, the only option he has is to send it to your "My Bitcoin Wallet" before he can send it to his own wallet.
With that, keep track of your main account's transaction history using the restored wallet in Electrum, any transaction past the last outbound transaction may be your Interest account's balance going in to the main wallet and another one being sent out.

BTW, you won't be able to display images 'till you become a "junior member" (next tier to newbie).
Those will be displayed as links instead.
3333  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.com compromised by blcokchain.cm on: January 19, 2021, 02:23:14 PM
As for the Interest account, you should try to log-in in the web version using a device safe from malwares or viruses.
You might have a malware that messes with your QR Code reader, browser, etc.
when I try this on a laptop, so other device, the site keeps hanging. not all functionality in the blockchain.com account is visible and the logo keeps turning. when I login in a new account everything works fine. So I can't see preferences of profile or interest accounts]
Hmm, if it's their website's issue, it should've happened to more users; eg.: I have no problem logging-in & your new account works.
The hacker might have done something to your account that's why you have trouble logging in to any device.
Contact blockchain's support for help, log-in issues can be solved using their CS.

Or clear your browser cache and try to login again, you may as well try to use a different method to connect to the internet.
Other than that, I have no other idea.
3334  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.com compromised by blcokchain.cm on: January 19, 2021, 11:44:55 AM
-snip- My account seems compromised. I already opened a new wallet with the seed in both blockchain.com as electrum but zero BTC is available. I don't see any transactions besides the 0.004 BTC transaction to an unknow account so were are my btc and eth on the interest account?
Only your normal accounts will be restored to Electrum like "My Bitcoin Wallet", if you have created more accounts (except Trading and Interest), you can change the derivation path's account index in Electrum.
But I believe that it's not the solution to your case.

As for the Interest account, you should try to log-in in the web version using a device safe from malwares or viruses.
You might have a malware that messes with your QR Code reader, browser, etc.
3335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Stuck btc transaction on: January 19, 2021, 04:58:48 AM
However, Mr.Spider703 seems to provide a genuine tx acceleration service.
Mr.Spider703 is a scammer. He has no ability to speed up a transaction's confirmation. He claims that he can speed up a transaction by sending its ID to the network, but that is a meaningless statement.
In addition to this, @posi, check the transactions that he had quoted "done" in a blockexplorer with a "miner tag" feature (eg. blockchair.com).
First paste the transactionID, then click the block height where it was included, and look for the miner of that block,
if you're seeing random pool names for every transaction he "accelerated", then you know what it means.

Note: the miner tag may be inaccurate depending on the blockexplorer.
3336  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Broken fragmented restore wallet. Please help! on: January 18, 2021, 03:10:40 AM
-snip- , then go to restore the wallet in Armory, it recognizes the proper Fragment ID, but when I accept it I get a line saying "This is for fragment #" and then it doesn't list any data. I go to the next line anyway and type in another page, then another, giving me three. No change. In fact, on the "Restore wallet fragments" window I get no indication I've done anything.
I've tried in the latest version and it worked with v1.35c fragmented backup,
but I've successfully reproduced it (based form your description of "doesn't list any data") in the old version v.96.0 from bitcoinarmory.
If you're using that version, you need to update to the latest v0.96.5 (link).

No? based from the sticky thread: FRAGMENTED BACKUPS VULNERABILITY!! IF YOU USE THEM, READ THIS!! (go to affected versions),
there had been changes with the fragmented backup that might had an impact on the compatibility between versions (need confirmation).
With that, try to restore the wallet in the previous versions like before v0.90 using an offline computer, if successful, just restore the wallet to the latest using a new non-fragmented backup.
3337  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Consolidate multiple output points into one on: January 18, 2021, 02:22:52 AM
a) How can I consolidate multiple output points?
In the "Coins" tab, either:
  • Hold CTRL and left-click the coins you want to spend, right-click and select "spend", now go to "Send" tab
  • Select the first coin then hold SHIFT and left-click the last coin you want to spend, that will select all the coins between the first and last coin you've clicked, then "spend"
  • Right-click and select "freeze coin" on all the coins you don't want to spend, then use "max" in the send tab, that way, "max amount" wont spend the frozen coins.

Quote from: bomberb17
b) I have a non-segwit wallet which always maintains a single output point. How do I prevent this from happening in my segwit wallet in the future? (i.e. maintain a single output point as well?)
If you're frequently receiving multiple small inputs that's not dust, consolidate them from time to time.
Sending them in the same address won't work since each transaction's outputs will create multiple "coins".
Eg.: If you're a miner who's receiving auto-withdrawals, you should increase your minimum auto-withdrawal amount to minimize your number of UTXO.
3338  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: BTC instead of BCH on: January 18, 2021, 02:08:58 AM
Fantastic it worked, now the funds are on my BCH account, but how can i get the 2FA back to get the account or wallet more safe ?
So BCH has only Password protection not 2FA ?
It's not because of the coins: Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash; it's the wallet: Electrum's feature that wasn't carried on by Electron Cash.
I think that there are some desktop clients/wallets out there that have 2FA and support BCH but I don't know any.

Quote from: n19011
I really do not know what i want to use, but i bought BCH, mayby it is better to covert them to BTC, or what ?
If you've bought "Bitcoin Cash" [BCH] thinking that it's the Bitcoin, you must convert it to "Bitcoin" [BTC].
But if you're aware that it's a different coin and want to hodl it, what to do is your own decision.
3339  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I meet a problem. send BTC to Huobi on: January 17, 2021, 08:37:55 AM
I have set 1sat to RBF , and then wait .
This wasn't probable, because if you set the rbf fee-slider to 1sat/B, the transaction will return with an error due to the fee requirements described by the above post.
The slider will set the new fee rate and not the additional.

But I see that your transaction was replaced by this one that was confirmed yesterday: b34b4bb8493e0a4a8e71859c01cdbb90fb731df5a3a015f4bcc02cd22256e68a
3340  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: BTC instead of BCH on: January 17, 2021, 06:35:35 AM
The problem is, i tryed to do as o_e_l_e_o says, but after i did excaktly this, there is 0 BCH in the cash account ?
Is your Electrum wallet multisig, 2fa or any type other than standard Legacy and SegWit?

I asked Coinmama to transfer to Legacy address format and it started with 33TQ, why ? - it was not cash address format, like it should have been right ?
If it's 2fa (since it's the reasonable way for a newbie to create a '3' address wallet), you may have to do some slightly complicated steps to restore it to Electron Cash.

Follow these exact steps (It's advisable to do these offline in a secured machine):
  • In your Electrum wallet, use "File->New/Restore" and a new wallet window will open.
  • Enter a wallet name and click next, select the options "Wallet with two-factor authentication->->I already have a seed->", then paste your 12-word seed phrase.
  • After clicking "Next", select "disable" and don't set a password so it can be opened with a text editor, and finish the wallet creation.
  • Now, go to Electrum's data directory (location) open wallets folder.
  • Find the newly created wallet with disabled 2fa and open it with a text editor.
  • In that text file, find (Ctrl+F): "x1/", there should be a "xprv" under it, copy it to a temporary text file or paper.
Note: it should start with 'xprv' or 'zprv' and don't include the "" before and after it, example: xprv8cTcGbRmDaPnV9uuD..............................nuUUAfumg
  • Under that there should be an "x2/" and "x3/", copy the "xprv" of x2 and "xpub" of x3 (x3's xprv is null) and paste to the same file as above.
Note: the xpub starts with 'xpub' or 'zpub' that looks similar to the xprv.
  • Now you've got the keys that you need to restore it Electron.

2nd part:
  • In your ElectronCash wallet, use File->New/Restore.
  • After typing a wallet name and next, select the options "Multi-signature wallet"->Slide the sliders into "From 3 cosigners" - "Require 2 signatures", next.
  • Select "Use public or private keys", next, paste the xprv of "x1", next will display its xpub.
  • Next of that is "cosigner 2", paste xprv of "x2" and lastly in "cosigner 3" paste the xpub of "x3".
  • Set a password and the wallet should generate the same multisig wallet with BCH address format, use the "Address Converter" to check if your "legacy address" matched Electrum's.

There could be a simpler/safer method but this is what worked in my tests.
