Par le gestionnaire de fichiers, ça n'a pas l'air de marcher, quand je vais dans /home, je ne vois qu'un seul répertoire qui s'appelle ubuntu.
Mon utilisateur s'appelait Pogo. Je devrais donc trouver /home/pogo, mais ce n'est pas le cas... :/
Normal, le /home que tu regardes c'est le /home de ton LiveCD, pas celui de ton Ubuntu sur ton disque. Ton répertoire Pogo doit se trouver sur une partition qui n'est pas montée par défaut. /dev/sda1 ou un truc du genre. Tu devrais la voir depuis le menu "Ordinateur" ou un truc du genre. Le mieux c'est encore de la monter depuis la ligne de commande. Genre : mount /dev/sda1 /media/disk1-home Va sur IRC. C'est pas pratique de t'expliquer tout ça sur ce forum. |

Mon problème, c'est que j'ai fait la mise à jour de 10.04x32 vers 10.10x32 et que suite à ça, mon système ne démarre plus : Je reste bloqué à l'écran de chargement.
Donc, je ne peux plus accéder à ce foutu home...
Pour l'instant je me lance en LiveCD 10.10x64, je voudrais savoir si c'est possible de récupérer mon home à partir de la live cd ou par tout autre moyen... :/
Ensuite, oui, je réinstallerai Ubuntu en 10.10x64.
Bien sûr que tu peux y accéder. Faut juste monter la partition, "à la main" s'il le faut. Mais tu dois aussi la voir depuis un gestionnaire de fichier. Regarde bien. |

Franchement avec une architecture AMD64, ce serait bête de mettre un système 32 bits. Tu devrais vraiment réinstaller. Pour ton home, fait une archive que tu redéploiras sur ton nouveau système. T'as pas trop le choix, désolé. PS. Voilà les instructions que j'ai trouvées sur le manuel de ma distrib (aptosid) : Backing up your /home partition :
Before moving your /home you should back up everything below /home (as root):
tar cvzpf somewhere/home.tar.gz /home
To extract:
tar xvpf somewhere/home.tar.gz

No, I haven't modified my wallet. However I've noticed that "generate" is put back to "false" each time I restart bitcoind. |

Bitcoin timestamps are worthless. If you examine the timestamps in the blocks, you'll notice that many blocks are timestamped to be older than the block before it. This is impossible, of course. The best you have got is a sequence property. Blocks are generated at random times centered around 10 minutes (actually less, which is why the difficulty keeps increasing), which is another property, but I don't think Bitcoin blocks would be very useful as a source for random numbers either. Bitcoins are however very useful as a secure currency or commodity. The block number IS the timestamps ! |

I'm running bitcoind version 0.3.19
I've noticed that generation halts for unknown reason.
"getinfo" tells me
"generate" : false,
Yet I've never runned bitcoind setgenerate false (as far as I know).

It's quite similar to currencies but I'd like to mention possible use of bitcoin for equities market.
A company would modify the bitcoin software to create its own cryptocurrency. The total amount would be much lower, so that the company could make it possible to own the whole initial stock (running the software alone during some time before realease, for instance).

That would be nice, but standard unix tools would fill this role easily, and much besides. The idea that security is enhanced by opposing the realase of common tools, on the assumption that they could be used fraudulently, is false. If they could be used in that manner, then the secuiryt model is already broken, and someone will be writing these tools for that specific purpose. I don't believe that command line tools of this nature will materially impact security of Bitcoin. If I'm wrong, please point out how, so that I may sell all my holding now and watch this whole thing fail.
If by "standard unix tools" you mean ASCII output to stdout, then ok : just have the export function ouput private keys in an ASCII format to stdout. Such a function should be used with care though, because it's easy to forget to redirect stdout. |
