Yaaaaaaaaaaay! i blew a fan totally by my own fault of using cgminers "rapingly powerful fan control"
Time for me to not use that!, xD had my fan running at 100% for three days without knowing it xD Now it turns at 1/5th the RPM.

Lol, Never believed it before, BUT FANS ARE NOT MEANT TO RUN AT 100%!!!!

Hey guys can a fan "break" Out And Into place? All of a sudden the fan is spinning at normal speeds again, And the bearing seems just fine.

Then about 1hr later (while mining), It's slows down like a bitch and overheats till shutdown, I restart, Fan not turning, Give it a little push, and VROOOM proper speed...

Lol.. like wtf...

I would replace it ASAP.

We have been advised by our facilities provider that they require us to perform a COMPLETE POWER DOWN on Wednesday, January 25th at 11:30PM, for a maximum of 2 hours finishing at 1:30AM on the 26th UTC +8

Uh, is that now?  These time differences really throw me off. Smiley

This joke is getting old but what the hell...
lolwindows: reboot || reinstallation || defenestration

The REAL joke is that the above is actually quite a powerful troubleshooting guide for Redmond-based OS-s.

Did posting that make your dingy bigger than the rest of the male population?

The real joke is people like you that keep putting up the same old diatribe.

The Windows 7 rig I am typing this response on right now, has been up for 27 days. The power went out or it would have been up longer. This installation has never had to be reinstalled since I first installed it 1 week prior to the official release date. This Windows 7 computer has never been infested with any malware or virus.

Glad to hear your having a good experience with Win7.

But I think you do have to admit that historically with the various versions of Windows that it had become a standard thing to keep rebooting or keep installing/uninstalling/installing and it would eventually work.

So it's easy and fun to poke fun at M$, not that it really matters, the rest of the world is going to keep doing what its been doing and most people don't even know that there are any options besides WinXP, Vista or Win7.  I think that's a shame.  But that's just me.

So, I'm mining away at BTC Guild earning all these Namecoins and I don't have a clue what to do with them. I'm storing them at Cryptoexchange for now. I just want to know if it's possible to spend them like Bitcoin or is exchanging them for BTC the only option at this point?

Namecoins are not a currency, so I'd be surprised if you could find someone selling things for namecoins.

Then why the heck are we mining them?  Just because we can?

3329  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER miner overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.1.2 on: January 22, 2012, 09:56:59 PM
Why do people keep torturing themselves with windows? Just use plain old debian and save yourself tons of time and headaches.

Well much to your, and my, chagrin the computing world has decided to use M$ Windoze.

And those of use who support vertical market applications need to have multiple machines with the various versions of M$ OS's on them.  So when I can, I mine on them, which is why I really like stand alone miners like CGMiner and Ufasoft.  But when I need to do my job on them they are ready to go for work as well.

So diverting machines to dedicated use with some *nix variant doesn't work for me.

So I appreciate the effort of doing the Windoze builds as well.

wtf, some anonymous user is mining on this pool right now @ 358.6 GH/s

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25848420/wtf%20358ghs.png

Good ol' Anonymous, I always did like him... or her. Smiley
Sam
Its not a single entity. If you choose the "private" option in your pool preferences instead of "public", you will be added to the Anonymous score.

OK, I'll add the obligatory Them! Smiley

But I was under the impression that each Anonymous was an individual.  The top 20 list used to show multiple Anonymouses.
Thanks for the clarification,
Sam

If I'm understanding your problem correctly, the answer is that they will all be "Below Target" until you actually mint a block for yourself (very rare, especially at only 500 MH/s)

What does share below target mean?  I have never seen that when solo mining?

3334  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER miner overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.1.0 on: January 06, 2012, 03:03:50 AM
One other thing, is anyone able to start cgminer from a remote desktop session and have it detect their gpus? I can monitor what cgminer is doing on my machine over remote desktop, but if I close cgminer remotely and then try to start it back up from the remote session, it doesn't detect the gpu.

I don't know about windows, but with linux you need DISPLAY=:0 before your launch string if starting over vnc/ssh to detect the GPU's.

Is there anyone who knows if there is a Windows equivalent?

Remote desktop sessions don't have access to GPU hardware.

Yes there is a Windoze equivalent, its called VNC.  VNC works for me, usually, but it can be a little flaky.

Any theories on the cause of what appears to be cgminer having (local?) network problems?  Happened last night, and now again this morning:

During the above period, web browsing from another system on the LAN seemed normally snappy.  Last night, I couldn't find any evidence that Eclipse was down, but I added BitMinter as a backup.  That (based on above) indicates it's not a pool problem.

I (Q)uit cgminer, but that didn't yield me a console prompt.  Ctrl-C was merely echoed as ^C with no other effect.  So I rebooted and now all seems normal.

I get similar behavior when I load balance.  I also saw this with 2.0.8 when load balancing.

But pressing Q always worked for me, as well as it works in Windoze that is.

(though q for quitting is broken, I can affirm that)

If your using Windoze that's kind of normal operation for most of us as its a known Windoze bug.  There are several older posts mentioning this if you want more details.

Sorry, it was caused by site update. Already enabled again.

No problem.

us.ozco.in:8999 is a downer...or is it just me?

I thought they switched to us.ozco.in:8332 a couple weeks ago?

But yes us.ozco.in is down for me too.

The news post on ozco.in needs to be pulled then, cause i was confused.  Getting started says 8332, so I updated.

us.ozco.in:8332 was dead for me too.  But it seems to be alive now.
