3341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anybody testing Ethereum ASIC machine? on: August 01, 2017, 01:54:26 AM
Perhaps someone just deployed a large amount of GPUs? I find it unlikely anybody would deploy ASICs for Ethereum given they can easily change the algo if ASICs are created for it, it would be a massive waste of money if it happened like that.

I hope so. Release of ethereum ASIC would be a total disaster for GPU miners.
It wouldn't be for too long as IIRC Ethereum's algo was designed to be ASIC resistant. If it no longer was I'm sure the devs would make the algo different again. Because of this I would expect it to be FPGAs and not ASICs as the cost of programming FPGAs is usually less than designing an ASIC- that is, if it is NOT GPUs, which I doubt.

WTF? So is Roger Ver full of shit? Is this BCC fork thing not happening now?

I swear to the gods, if that guy and the whole lot of them was bullshitting this whole time about a fork, then I think it's time to gather up the torches, pitchforks, and some rope, fellas. We need to end this FUD garbage once and for all.
Maybe they just wanted us to send all our coins to exchange addresses so blockchain analysis companies have an easier time tracking addresses. Tinfoil hat off. You never know what's going on in the minds of people, who knows what might have been the real motive.
3343  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest difficulty contest. 2 ltc plus 1 compac stick as the prize. on: August 01, 2017, 01:31:52 AM
Yep, BIP148 just locked in and Bitcoin Cash is on its way. I'm curious as to if the Cash split will make total hashrate decrease or if we will continue to see a hashrate increase on the Bitcoin network. I think it'll stagnate somewhat personally.

Hmm, but what about BIP148? I thought that was at midnight.
It just recently activated, less than an hour ago if I am correct. Price is beginning to go downwards slightly now, it will probably accelerate once we hit 12:20PM UTC tomorrow. Will be interesting to see what the price will be once the fork happens- I expect BTC at ~2400-2500 or less.
3346  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 31, 2017, 12:13:05 PM
I know technically I am in cryostasis but I'll just say this....

I thought we are all expecting a huge drop tomorrow? Why talk of ATH?? What am I missing?

Off to freeze myself again until this blows over

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin-cash/

If this continues, Bitcoin Cash will just be a drop in the bucket and it'll be dumped to oblivion. Less free money for us now, but it's still money. Maybe Jihan + Friends will pump the coin but I doubt they can hold back the force of the community dumping.
3347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How will AMD Vega affect GPU mining? on: July 31, 2017, 12:09:57 PM
Vega 56 could be very nice for mining considering how much it costs, current TFLOPS, and the fact that AMD highlighted optimizing the card for mining in a release slide. Mining seems to be winding down for some but Vega could help revitalize mining again. I'll wait until some miners bench the card first before buying, though.
3348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 sell out in 5 minutes on: July 31, 2017, 12:43:24 AM
It appears a good reason Bitmain D3 stocks sold out so quickly is because a lot of people are ordering only for the invoice. Then reselling open invoices to other people who did not get to order any units. Some guy on Twitter posted an image showing multiple open orders claiming he made 7k just from invoice selling.  Huh
It sucks but that's the reality of the world. Unless you're running a buy script, notifier, or happen to be lucky enough to stumble upon these miners in stock, the miners will probably continue to sell out as they have. I'm surprised Bitmain hasn't raised prices on these miners yet; Innosilicon has an answer, but it is much more expensive in terms of $/GH.
3349  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: July 30, 2017, 01:23:47 PM
Wish i had the money to buy that kind of hardware. I really wanted to try out mining for a long time but when i heard that mining is a costly task, i immediately backed out. I currently have an HP laptop and i dont think it can perform such a task so im saving bitcoins to buy a PC with specs that can withstand mining's power consumption.
PCs cannot mine Bitcoin effectively, I assume you are talking about Altcoins. Currently prices are a little inflated for GPUs so it may be wise to wait until this is all over to buy GPUs. Both Altcoin and Bitcoin mining is extremely expensive right now due to various reasons, and I expect prices will only go up.
3350  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What you guys think of my Bitcoin/Litecoin farm on: July 30, 2017, 12:23:39 AM
Is not cheap neither is free (.1 Kw/h) but anyway the way that i see it eventually i gonna brake even also got dash and more L3 miners on the way + this is a learning experience thats gonna give me the knowledge that i need to do a bigger project in the near future. Knowledge is not free at least not this kind i think.

Ten cents per KwH? I'd have considered Altcoin mining at that power rate earlier in the year, but Bitcoin is more stable as we've all noticed. Not a bad electrical cost, most people have costs much above that. Knowledge is mostly just electrical work in Bitcoin and a little bit of dirty work, if you plan on getting some kind of large building or factory for mining you'll learn even more Smiley You can actually learn a lot about BTC mining without actually having a miner, but for the electrical work, it does help to know a bit and possibly shave some money off of that.
3351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: July 30, 2017, 12:16:40 AM
Isn't bitmain due for another scrypt miner? The "L5" I supppose.

I say this since the L3 and L3+ are 4 months apart on release.

First L3+ batch was on April 11
It could well be on its way to the consumer market, considering there's likely not much to improve on in the Bitcoin world with them dominating and all. I'm curious as to whether or not Bitmain will continue to expand into altcoins or if they'll just stick to the big three that they seem interested in at the moment. They've got plenty of money for R&D so there's not really a reason why they shouldn't be working on improving their miners even though their closest competitor, Innosilicon, is pretty damn far from them right now.
3352  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] 144kh/s Scrypt 8GB USB $30, Antminer U1 $35, RX 460 4GB $80 on: July 29, 2017, 05:47:36 PM
Handy little USB miner that you can take around anywhere and also use as a form of data storage. I mostly used this as a USB thumb drive and mined with it for less than a month under an Arctic USB fan. Miner will come in the box like-new with all OEM files included.

If you wish to use this overclocked, I highly suggest using a fan or this thing will probably burn up.

Shipping inside the United States only, included with the price. $30 in BTC only. I am taking a trip soon so it would be most convenient if the sale takes place today, I can still ship on Tuesday or Wednesday if necessary.

I also have coffee-brown colored Antminer U1 for sale. Miner has always been under a fan and is like-new. I am asking for $35 in BTC only for this miner. The miner ships in its original clear container and barcode.

Last, I have a Visiontek RX 460 'OC' Edition. The card has been used for light gaming and before that used to mine for a short period of time. Will be shipped in an electrostatic bag in its original packaging with an HDMI plug. Heatsink is rather small and comparable to oldschool 8000-9000GT cards, so make sure you have good airflow in your case if you plan on using it in one. No 6pin connector, purely PCI Express powered. This means OCs are limited but the card is still nice and compact. I will take $85 in BTC only for the card.

All products will be shipped via USPS.

For both USB miners, I can take $60 dollars with shipping via 1st class USPS. For all three, I can take $120 with 1st class USPS shipping. Escrow only except if your trust is high, which I will determine.
3353  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 29, 2017, 04:25:58 PM
I wonder what the price of BCC + BTC combined will be when BCC comes out. Hopefully price on BTC doesn't crash too hard or goes down that much at all. It's pretty much more BTC for all, though, hopefully Jihan and Friends will keep price up long enough for us to get a decent price for it. I expect an ETC-like price situation.
3354  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can bitcoin penetrate the price of 3500 USD at the end of 2017 this? on: July 29, 2017, 12:17:54 AM
Price will probably begin tanking with the onset of BCC as both BCC supporters and BTC supporters begin dumping coins on both chains. I expect a ~$250 drop or more during the first week of August because of this. Long term, SW will make the price rise but it is not a perfect solution to the blocksize debate. Expect more debating and shit that we've been getting recently in the future.
3355  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 28, 2017, 05:01:55 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see the price is correcting up nicely from this week's little dip... currently $2773USD (Bitcoinaverage) after briefly passing $2800.

After all the BIP91, BIP141, hardfork, BTC cash, and other panics in the last few weeks, we're basically back to where we were after the original correction following the ATH.

Maybe the market is getting calloused by all the angst and August won't be as big a jolt as some people think. I'd love to see a return to the slow steady growth that has largely characterized the past 2 years.
Maybe because people are buying BTC to get some additional 'free' bitcoins later. Price is fine as it is but I expect a drop of around $300 once BCC comes out.
3356  Economy / Speculation / Re: With the Hard Fork coming, will anyone who has BTC will Get BCC?? on: July 28, 2017, 03:39:04 PM
Depending on the price, it might not even be worth it for guys like me with lots of small transactions to try to split their coins. Hopefully TX fees won't be super high then as it'd take me $60 to transfer all my BTC at a low fee and a hell of a lot of time.
3357  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 28, 2017, 01:50:29 AM
hey everyone.. stopping in to learn more about my boat i'm going to have soon . how is everyone doing with the fork ??
Quite happy at the moment. We get free coins from ABC that can be exchanged for BTC if you have the knowledge and time to do so. I just hope it won't be too bumpy and people don't fall for splitting scams.

Where do we expect BCC demand to be coming from? Chinese? Jihan? Roger?

If they're going to fork off chances are the ones who forked will pump the coin, creating artificial demand. Perhaps Chinese will buy into it as well, could be interesting how price goes early on and long term. I expect an ETC situation where price is much below that of Bitcoin's.

3360  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] 2-Blade S7 3TH/s plus DPS800GBA PSU (FULL KIT) $240 + FREE SHIPPING on: July 27, 2017, 11:36:53 PM
I am selling a two-blade Antminer S7 hashing at a little over 3TH/s at 700mhz. I did not run this unit for quite a while due to noise and power issues in my new home, so I am looking to sell it. Price will be $260 in BTC only plus shipping (only US, please). The miner includes a DPS 800GBA PSU which should be enough to power it. Note that one blade will only be getting one PCI connector if you set it up like I have, which may cause cable issues. I ran it in total like this at 500mhz for less than two days, so there should be no issues with the PSU or miner. All wiring is present, but you will need to provide a C13 cable.

An extra communications cable is included if you wish to attach a new blade onto the miner.

Stats: http://imgur.com/a/DxtNU

Price: $240 with FREE SHIPPING (BTConly please). Escrow required.

Miner is set to default root:root and is on DHCP.
