Is the next season will still be in the bubble?
It has yet to be decided by the league. Maybe next month or after the PBA Rookie draft, we can get an update about it. They are following the NBA's movement so maybe there will be no bubble set up anymore but just a strict health protocol again and the usual, with no-audience. Yeah, there's also following the movement of NBA so the basic move that they might do next is to go back to the normal season. But still, that's undecided and we have to wait. Thanks for the answer mate and also to those who have given some opinions and answers too about what I've asked. According to the post I read here, the next season will start this April, there's still 3 months to wait before we will finally see PBA resume. Let's make an update of the news, maybe it will return by March or next month, at least we know. Below are the key dates for the 46th PBA season minus the awarding night, don't know when they would award the Best Player of the Conference in the bubble. Three more months to go and we can see our dear PBA back in action again that if everything go smoothly as plan.  |

There's a rumor that a top SMC official plans to create a second edition of a bubble and the setting is in Metro Manila, no confirmation on this one yet but most definitely we could still see a no-crowd PBA next season if a vaccine against COVID-19 is still not available. In addition to the rumor, commissioner Marcial is rolling out a plan to have a two-conference season this year. |

While you guys talking about how exciting the fight was, I just thought of the money involved in this fight.
So I was suddenly interested to know on how much both made in this fight.
If anyone knows, I would be thankful.. I'm okay with estimate as long as it's a close one, and as long as it has a source.
If we refer to the statement below then Ryan Garcia's purse for that fight is below 1M USD while Campbell being on the B side received a much lower figure that Garcia. It is understandable that Ryan is calling out to fight the champions of this division because of money matters. Davis vs Garcia is a money fight but the latter should be careful on what he wished for as this might derail his career. Haste makes waste, he should remember that and listen to his advisers for the betterment of his career. I can't imagine how Garcia looks if Davis was the one throwing that punch that floored him in the second round.  According to Sportekz, the highest purse money Garcia so far earned is from the fight against (Romero Duno) upto $250,000. In 2020, he got paid maximum $500,000 purse money and also received the pay-per-view revenue share. Lol, everyone were bemused over that score on the second round knockdown but i have made a little research and found that if a fighter was dominated by his opponent and got knocked down once then the score would be 10-8 while if he was dominating the opponent and unfortunately got knocked down then the score would 10-9 in favor of the one who scored a knockdown, but then again it's always the discretion of the judges on how he sees it. Remember Pacman vs Marquez 1, on the first round, Manny floored JuanMa thrice and the score of the judges were as follows: 10-6, 10-6 and 10-7 (resulting to a controversial draw). Online audience plus limited audience in the event, is good enough we have technologies now to provide such convenience. Still it was close fight seeing Ryan get knocked down in the 2nd round. I thought the fight is already done. I didn't expect for him to comeback strong and win the game, with a finishing body blow that led Luke unable to fight. Spectacular perfomance from both fighters.

Yes it is more tough fights for Ryan so he can build up his reputation and his skill and Campbell is such a good stepping stone, between Haney and Gervonta I like to see him fight Davis first he losses a lot of amateur fights against Haney when they are young
I am expecting Ryan Garcia to fight Devin Haney next and he was present for this fight in the arena and he even expressed his interest in the fight against Garcia. We might even see him fight Jorge Linares next as they were planning to put that fight together last year. I am not expecting Garcia to fight Gervonta Davis simply because he is under Mayweather promotions and they do not have a good relation with Oscar De La Hoya promotions.
You nailed it, promoters ruined today's boxing. Campbell just exposed Garcia though he passed this test he may have to endure another one and i think Jorge Linares would be a good fight before eyeing any of that championship belt. If you guys observed, there's one referee (Filipino i think) who scored the 2nd round 10-9 despite of that knockdown, why is that? |

I'll be watching this fight tomorrow as I have a good feeing that this isn't a one sided fight. I believe Ryan will face probably the toughest fight of his career and if he survives, he might end up winning by decision. I'm excited on this fight, don't have any appointment tomorrow because I'm staying home to watch this.

With the current odds, yeah I don't think that Ryan will be upset, if Campbell gets lucky, maybe he can win a round or two, but that's just it, Ryan will take over and will definitely go for a knock out so that his stock will go up. Golden boy is betting big for this kid, and this fight is cherry pick to showcase Ryan's speed and knockout power.
I agree with you mate, this fight is cherry picked by Golden Boy to make Garcia look good if he can do the job in an impressive manner. Loma's win against Campbell is not impressive for me so this is a make or break for Ryan Garcia and i'm inclined that he can do it as he did beat our tough compariot in Michael Duno in just one round. Well, if he will not be successful in the US, with his height, some teams will be interested on him, and you are right TNT might signed him, but how is it going to affect the play of the TNT since this team loves to run.
Training is the US was Greg's lame alibi of his opposition on his possible trade with Cstand. He is 30+ years old and no amount of training could change his style of play at this age. Though he still have no contract with Ginebra, the Kings still hold the rights of Slaughter and this may change with the current rule which allows restricted free agent to chose teams they wanted to play with. If i were Greg, i'll move away from SMC teams and realize that all of this is part of the business and everybody in the PBA at the moment is tradable except the name Junemar Fajardo. My message to Greg Slaughter, be a man brader and show to the Filipino basketball fans that Chua is wrong with this move, after all you are still in demand in the PBA because a big man like you still is valuable. |
