3361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone used minermarkets dot com? on: July 27, 2017, 09:22:10 PM
Huge scam, I purchased 15 bitcoin worth of miners and they never sent them. Stay clear from these guys
I'm surprised you put so much money into such a suspicious looking company. Lesson learned either way, never buy from people with web stores like this except for sites which have been reviewed here. Always ask if you are unsure, and try to always buy direct.
3362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pinidea no longer selling miners ????????? on: July 27, 2017, 06:53:16 PM
Possibly, if it redirects to a cloud mining site of all webpages. Most likely they just don't want to compete with Bitmain's custom ASICs with their now-outdated FPGAs and they gave up. It's a shame, as they had great product quality. Perhaps they only sell to Genesis nowadays?
3363  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How to preorder new Bitmain Antminer? on: July 27, 2017, 06:49:31 PM
You can't because they are sold out of even preorders at this point. Best to go with Avalon or Ebit, or if you don't like them just go buy some overpriced ones from forum members or eBay. I would personally wait until the next batch unless you enjoy paying a lot more for these miners.
3364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 5 New X11 ASIC miners - Antminer, Innosilicon, IbeLink, Baikal, PinIdea on: July 27, 2017, 12:58:25 PM
very nicely put together.
the asic market is interresting because you have a much lower profile next to some big hot gpu rig.
and those new beasts deliver amazing results.
i actually had one of the d3 in my shopping cart but i couldnt change eth fast enough.
if you had one today you would make close to 10k this month, with 15gh
now the people says 10k is too much for innosilicion, but it is supposed to have 30gh
so if you would have one today it would earn you 20k! EACH MONTH!
yeah yeah i know difficulty rise, but even if the profits drop to 3k with the d3,
lets imagen the innosilicon is capable of running at 30gh and makes you 5-6k each month.
its a no brainer. if you have 10k, but one. if you have 100k, buy 10!
because the magical word is ROI,
someone tell be a quicker way to ROI and keep on collecting money while driving lauching to the bank.

kw30 #deeponion w168c848/04

I guarantee you profits will drop much, much more than that as difficulty goes exponential on various X11 chains. Even $1000/month may not be reached when all of these miners are shipped and running. Plus, we don't know how many they are using themselves, as mining is currently so profitable.

That being said don't get ripped off by people selling preorders. They can easily go to support saying they lost their account and you will have essentially been scammed.
3365  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: LEGIT or QUIT List of Safe retailers on: July 27, 2017, 01:47:34 AM

If your heart is set on the L3+, I suggest Eastshore.xyz
If you just want good hardware, I'd also suggest waiting for the next D3 batch to pop up on Bitmain (there was one last night that sold out in an hour, but I imagine there will be a lot more), or you could wait till Bitmain sells their next L3+ batch no idea when that'll be tho...

OR I think Bittawm (legendary bitcointalk member) may have some September batch D3s he'd be willing to sell.

Holy Crap!  I just ran the numbers on the D3.  It pays for itself in less than 2 weeks!  LOL.  My heart was set on the L3 because I thought it paid for itself the fastest.  I think my heart is set on the D3 now.
Yes, but once these miners hit the market they will blow up difficulty, and once you get yours in possibly the third batch difficulty will have risen likely to the point of L3+ profits or below. Not horrible but just keep in mind that difficulty is a big factor in these algos where hashrate and efficiency takes massive jumps.
3366  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis Mining - SFYL Edition on: July 27, 2017, 01:42:26 AM
Definitely not planned to be released today to be masked by all of the other unfortunate news today. Genesis was always fishy and all cloud mining services always were, I would not be surprised if they just exit scam all their customers soon. Another reminder to keep your coins in a private key YOU OWN or you have no control of them both during the fork fiasco and after.
3367  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS][US] - 3 S7-LN Sidehacked on: July 27, 2017, 01:30:31 AM
Hi I am new at btc mining.  I've only done GPU mining up to this point.  I was wondering if this unit can be profitable?  I went to : https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

using the numbers for three units, I typed in 6000 for hash rate, $825 for hardware price, and 1425 for power, it says this unit will only be profitable for 12 days ($6.11), and then turn unprofitable after which it will lose -$2.18 over the next 25 days.  I was wondering I did the calculation correctly.

Thank you.

It is possible but keep in mind S7s have been used for a long time and for people like me with extremely cheap electricity it can still make ROI. Just not as much as an S9 would in profits.

Calculations are completely wrong. 2TH:2000GHS, power is 475 watts give or take a little bit. The miner also only costs $275 as is (what have you been smoking?).
3368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 26, 2017, 05:22:57 PM
At least SW is going to lock in this month, interested to see how far down price will go before and after SW.

I'm interested to see how far up price will go before and after SW.

If the rumors are true that BTCe hacked Mt. Gox, then 500k BTC hitting the market is probably not going to make the price go up much anytime soon. I do welcome cheap coins, though.
3369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 26, 2017, 05:08:37 PM
Why can't there ever be a month where nothing bad happens? At least SW is going to lock in this month, interested to see how far down price will go before and after SW. Volume will probably slow to a trickle that day, meaning easy manipulation of price. And BTC ABC.
3370  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: jet.com Selling RX 580 at $245.66 after coupon on: July 26, 2017, 05:06:30 PM
Not a bad price for a 4GB card. Prices will probably continue to down in the future, I recall seeing similar prices just a few days ago.
3371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 5 New X11 ASIC miners - Antminer, Innosilicon, IbeLink, Baikal, PinIdea on: July 24, 2017, 09:47:09 PM
2. Other manufacturers can always adapt and release updated software to handle other algos. It's just a puny change and doesn't require major rewrite.

From my understanding, all those big hash rate miners are ASIC and Baikal is FPGA. With that in mind, ASIC can no longer be altered once made while an FPGA can be reprogrammed, which was why they were able to add other algorithms with a firmware update.

I could be wrong...

I think you're right, but is it possible the Baikals are PARTIALLY FPGA? Found this in an interview with Baikal:

"X11 uses a chained eleven hash algorithms differently from Scrypt and SHA256 that cause more challenges for the optimization of eleven hash algorithms. While we optimized each hash algorithm, we focused much more on the entire interworking the eleven hash algorithms. We were sure about one shot success of X11 ASIC development through high fault coverage FPGA verification."

To be honest, I don't really know what FPGA is. Would you mind explaining it a little to the thread, and how it differs fron a straight up ASIC protocol?
FPGAs are one step below ASICs. Better than GPUs at tasks, and reprogrammable (hence field-programmable grid arrays), but they aren't built for one thing and one thing only, so they aren't as efficient most of the time. Most FPGAs can do these hashing algos but the ones Baikal used were probably optimized with software just for them and possibly custom manufactured. Just up to someone to configure the FPGAs to mine.
3372  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: iBeLink DM11G on: July 24, 2017, 09:42:03 PM
Cant even justify buying this now pricewise...

Bitmain is taking everyone out to the "outhouse" and shooting them...
Availability on everything is pretty bad right now so that may be a reason why people are attempting to buy these, but then again at this rate it's just better to wait and hope to snag a D3. If only they could manufacture enough...
3373  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty contest rollover prize 2ltc 1 compac usb stick. Picks are now closed! on: July 24, 2017, 07:20:53 PM
This is going to be damn near 10% if nothing changes. currently estimating about +11% but if blocks keep coming in slow (no blocks in 2+ hrs atm) we may go back to 9-10. These constant difficulty rises are a bit concerning though, my S7 may be coming to its EOL quicker than expected.
3374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Lets say the second batch of Bitmain D3 has the same release date & price... on: July 24, 2017, 01:27:48 AM
Pinidea and Baikal likely don't have nearly as much to play with in terms of R&D so I doubt they will be able to surpasses what iBeLink,  Bitmain and Innosilicon are releasing in the future. Instead, I expect Baikal to work with what they have and continue releasing their multi-algo miners. One advantage of em is that they can mine multiple algos as the chips are in fact FPGAs AFAIK, which could explain their efficiency compared to Bitmain's new ASIC design. I would strongly recommend mining non-x11 in the future if you purchase a Baikal miner.
3375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Lets say the second batch of Bitmain D3 has the same release date & price... on: July 23, 2017, 12:01:31 PM
One. Incredibly unlikely this scenario happens though, as Bitmain are known to wildly variate the prices of their products throughout batches. With this kind of demand I doubt they will keep prices as is.
3376  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 22, 2017, 11:53:52 PM
Rofl, Bitcoin Cash is really 0.15 real Bitcoin worth ? Can't wait for the HF.  This is even better than Byteball. Grin
It's going to have a (probably) negative effect on the price of Bitcoin, but hey, supposing you employ replay attack prevention, it IS free altcoin. Let's hope it doesn't go down too much in this mess, though. I will definitely dump ABC if I get the opportunity.
3377  Economy / Speculation / Re: The sky has not fallen down on our head and I hope you have not sold at $1830! on: July 21, 2017, 11:09:53 AM
Bitcoin has many eccentricities and lots of variation in price, and it also has a large learning curve. If you sold at $1830, just learn to at least temporarily HODL and wait it out. Nothing is wrong with that. One good way to buy is dollar cost averaging, which helps you accumulate coins while not waiting for a dump that may never happen.
3378  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Why is Bitmain so dominant? on: July 21, 2017, 11:02:03 AM
They got into the mining game early and established themselves well enough to provide a good base for future production of miners. Besides that, Antminer S1 hype got people to buy up most S3s, which helped to further boost sales. Today, this means they have more to spend on R&D (probably) than other mining companies, so much so they can afford to expand to X11 and Litecoin. Fun fact, the Antminer L1 was supposed to come out but it never did for unknown reasons. The page is still on the Bitmain site. It was supposed to be a Scrypt miner.
3379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: July 21, 2017, 01:41:38 AM
" If it seems to good to be true, it is." Folks need to get their feet back on the ground. It's just not realistic to expect to be able to make $80,000.00 per year from these units. Not even 1/10th of that. If you receive these units after October, you will be facing 10 Million in difficulty. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but come on. Think about it. S-9's are netting around $300.00 per month per unit. This is what you can anticipate from these X11 miners. They are "commercial grade" rigs and their effect on the networks will be gargantuan. There will be a lucky few that will get them first but their dreams will be short lived. At least their machines will be paid for in short order.
That's why it's imperative for early adopters of the first batch to mine as soon as they get the miners. During the first few days profits will be very large but will decrease exponentially. Nobody expects to make enough for an early retirement from these but you will still be making good $$$. X11 is currently an arms race and these may possibly become outdated quick, although this may be untrue.
3380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Import Duty Rate on L3+ Shipped to USA on: July 21, 2017, 01:39:10 AM
Does anyone know what the import duty rate is on L3+'s and PSU's shipped from Bitmain into the USA?

Thanks

i'd like to know as well

Does anyone know?

Depends on how many you get. One unit (depending on what batch you bought/buy) and a power supply with get through at no additional cost. Four units alone will cost. Once you past a certain threshold, $2000 right now IAW https://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-import-export/internet-purchases you may pay. Here is a quote from the link provided "Pitfalls: If the item's value is more than $2,000, it may be held at the mail facility until you can arrange for a formal entry. This may require either hiring a customs broker to clear your goods or you may file the paperwork yourself." key phrase "may be held". Other important information can be found here as well about commercial purchases having a limit of $2500 before paying duty.

After reading that link, I'm now more worried about customs delaying the delivery than I am about the import tax.  Have you ever heard of any nightmare scenarios where L3's were held up for weeks in customs?  I don't think the product is controversial or merits any deep scrutiny, but I'm thinking I may need to hire a customs broker to help avoid any huge delay.  I ordered over a dozen L3's.
That's extremely unlikely. I have ordered many miners direct from China and I have never experienced anything out of the ordinary except very short delays when they happen to inspect the shipped product. I also live in the United States Smiley As long as you aren't buying drugs or illegal substances even delays will be very short if at all they happen.
