3361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum pump on: August 13, 2021, 10:41:59 PM
Indeed. The Ethereum network's problem appears to have been solved by developers. This is a sign that the crypto industry is beginning to strengthen and expand, and Ethereum has proven to be the finest investment after Bitcoin, thanks to the recent London Hard Fork. Ethereum will continue to improve with the help of the London Hard Fork.
Perhaps the role of each hard fork that comes in the market is to strengthen and make the network more functional so it will attract huge demand into its investors. And ethereum is not an excemption to it.

The recent London hard fork has made ethereum even better making its price keeps on growing from time to time. And now that its finally back to its momentum, other altcoins might as well follow the positive path for ethereum.
3362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will The Sorrow of BTC Be The Pleasure of Altcoins? on: August 13, 2021, 10:25:24 PM
The word "Alt-coin" should mean "Alternative Coins". And the word alternative in a layman's language should mean having an obvious option. Example, having an alternative plan means I can decide to use Plan B, most especially if plan A may not favour me at that time. Also, Coffee is an alternative to Tea, in this scenario, alternative is a choice and not a measure of importance. In a situation where an alternative is a choice, is therefore means that the Sorrow of one will be the pleasure of the alternative.

Relating this to cryptocurrency, if BTC who is the mother of Cryptocurrencies and who has gained extensive trust ceases to exist today, will altcoins flourish or will it make the people loose total interest in cryptocurrency.

both have similarities and sometimes the dynamics that occur between bitcoin and altcoins are not in line, for example:
(when the price of bitcoin goes up, the price of altcoins goes down) this is the dynamic that happens with both of them.
examples that are aligned between the two are: (when bitcoin goes up the price of altcoins also goes up).
From the example I mentioned above, I don't think the level of trust in altcoins will be lost, especially altcoins that already have many uses.
With today's happening in the market, its not still bitcoin is up, then altcoins go down. What we sees in the market is that bitcoin and altcoins are definitely going the same way more likely moving upward. So i think with the pleasure of bitcoin, altcoins will feel the same way too. When bitcoin faces sorrow, altcoins are more likely in deep sorrow too.
3363  Economy / Economics / Re: We exited the bear market earler than expected on: August 13, 2021, 09:59:13 PM
We exited the bear market earlier than everyone expected.

The prices might only start to surge from here. Many people said that the Korea FUD, the Elon FUD, and the China FUD will kill Bitcoin. But what it actually did was speed up a 3 year bear market into a 3 week bear market. Cool
now FUD is no longer effective at making the price of Bitcoin drop drastically.  the bitcoin community is very strong, see when the price of btc drops to $29k instantly millions of people try to pump bitcoin with their posts on their respective social media accounts.  nothing can stop bitcoin.
Bitcoin was really affected with China and Elon FUDS but after several months, it started to recover again. Gone are those days that bitcoin can be easily manipulated with different FUDS because the status of bitcoin right now is continuously reaching its strong resistance until it ends up in its new all time high.

Perhaps, the bear market we had before was not really bearish for bitcoin because its price that time is not that low. After all this continuous price surging, hopefully we will land into another peak price soon.
3364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The more popular Bitcoin is, the more valuable it is? on: August 13, 2021, 09:47:37 PM
For me I prefer bitcoin been kept as an asset instead of being used as a currency for daily transactions, we can all see keeping bitcoin is more better than spending it, for example you hodl your bitcoin and then price of bitcoin increases you make profits while someone who used it for payment will be at lose because firstly he did pay for transaction fee which can be seen as a loss already and also he had lost the future benefits of price increase. Bitcoin can never be devalued in the future, use the previous years for example all you could see is bitcoin being more valuable.

But that's not the original purpose of this system. Bitcoin should widen the acceptance and for people to learn that there's alternative system aside from banking.

For now, your statement is the one that gaining the attention, keeping your bitcoin as an asset of value, hoping that day will come that
your target value will reach and give you huge profits by just keeping it from your wallet.
For now, there's no wrong in hodling bitcoin for a long time so you will make huge profits once it reaches its new ATH. But the moment it will be legally adopted as a currency, we should start using it based on its purpose and not on our own purpose. Bitcoin should be widely used as a currency so it should create recorded payments in big companies as much as possible. Once its being used as a currency, its popularity will create huge demand in the market making its value getting even higher compared in the past.

3365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are other cryptocurrencies not like Bitcoin? on: August 12, 2021, 09:33:39 PM
Not all Altcoins cannot survive in the market for years in cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin has extraordinary quality and greatness in cryptocurrency so that it can still be the king of cryptocurrency, but there are also Altcoins that have advantages even though they are not the same as Bitcoin. For example, Ethereum is still surviving.
Bitcoin has definitely a great advantage compared to altcoins but it does not mean that only bitcoin will survive when it comes to long term. Altcoins too have their own way of surviving the market even we knew the fact that if bitcoin drastically drops its price, altcoins experience even a much lower dip.

So let's not wonder why all altcoins are not alike with bitcoin. The fact that they can still survive in the market for long, is already a good sign that altcoins too are also valuable just like bitcoin.
3366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Increasing acceptance level - Cryptocurrency on: August 12, 2021, 09:15:24 PM
Below is a pic that's been taken on a ride. Everyone might be familiar with the Autorickshaw of India. In some part people term them as Autowala. The auto rickshaw is called with different names on different countries including auto, auto rickshaw, baby taxi tuk-tuk, 3wheel, bao-bao, tukxi. The operators are very common people who have their living out of the earning through this rental rides. They've started accepting cryptocurrency is something big and shows the increasing level of cryptocurrency acceptance.

I havent seen any of those here on my country but i do see some shops or merchants that do already accept cryptocurrency which is really showing that adoption is on the move.

Really a good benefit for those who live in a country on where transportation payment option does already include crypto which is really a convenient one.

But i doubt that people would be using this actively because majority will surely be opting to hold their coins instead rather than using their coins on daily active transport.
Maybe for now as the adoption is not fully developed, those who knew bitcoin would rather hodl it rather than spending it. But in times when cryptocurrency is fully accepted not just in transportation but in all aspects of man's life, then we can expect that bitcoin or any form of crypto will be widely spend.

But i wonder how these passengers transact their payment? I'm thinking about the transaction fee. But i'm happy with this news. Now we are starting to adopt crypto in some parts of the world. Hopefully crypto will also be fully accepted in my country in the next years to come.

The thread title has not been changed yet, but I think it's still understandable as we are all updated on what is happening. It's Pacquiao vs Ugas, and this is not as fun as our expectation with the Pacman vs Spence. Anyway, I think I'll make a thread for Pacman vs Ugas so we also have our own discussion on the specific fight, and it will be easy for everyone to search this fight on google.
3369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casimero vs Rigondeaux this August 14, 2021 on: August 09, 2021, 04:54:13 PM

It's hard to conclude who is the underdog in this fight because until now the odds are still not available. This fight is a championship fight, both are champions fighting for unification, so this should gain attention from the real boxing fans especially for the Filipino fans who really love boxing.

All we see are just predictions on who will win and some are telling that Casimero is the underdog but they could not provide what bookies they are using as their basis. We will come down to the last day of the fight before we see the odds, it's killing the excitement as not everyone has the time to bet a day the fight is happening, or even before the day, sometimes, we love to put an advance bet so we will just relax and watch during the fight.

We do love it but we have no choice now because no betting odds that are out until now. Because I'm excited about this fight, I'm consistently checking the betting odds but it's not available, the fight will be this weekend, so it's nice to bet while watching, and I also like to see it available on the PPV from our local cable providers.
3370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 09, 2021, 04:08:30 PM
He is still young that time, at 27 years old now, if he can sign with the Celtics, he will be 29 years old after 2 years and a player is still at prime that time. Let's just hope that not only he will play an impressive seasons but he also need to be health,

Schroder at Celtics will be an orb-effect lol (Dota terms).

Basically, with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as the leaders there, I hope he will cooperate. Remember that in Lakers, even Lebron James and Anthony Davis was there, he feels he can do anything. That mindset leads him to take down the Laker's superb offers on which is not a good idea.

He thought his value isn't worth $20M per year and basically want more money. Take note, he's not even an All-Star but still expecting some teams can offer more.

That's how he thought, but he has to prove to whatever team will sign him that he is a very valuable piece of the team, in terms of talent, I admire his talent but he has not proven anything yet. Playing with the Celtics which is a playoff team, he will definitely get more opportunity to prove his worth, start with a minimum number of years then probably max out in contract extension if everything goes well.

That's what I'm talking about, if the Lakers did not offer him the amount he expected, I don't think other teams will make an aggressive offer. With the Lakers, maybe his potential was not yet maximized because he played the same position as Lebron, Dennis Schröder is a point guard so the team has to fully utilize him.
3371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Taxes on gambling send the right message? on: August 09, 2021, 03:59:59 PM
This proves that government never care about the people, they only care about how much revenue they make for example smoking is injurious to health but government decided to restrict people from doing it so they increase tax so that no one is going to buy it but surprisingly the cigarette is the world's top selling products in numbers as per the stats so they keep on increasing tax while saying that you should avoid using it.

Smoking, drinking.etc are personal choice and if you are living in a democratic country then there is not much the government can do about it. They can increase the taxes (not to receive more revenue, but to discourage people from indulging in these habits), but that is it. And I disagree with your argument. If profit making was the only concern here, then the government could have legalized cocaine, magic mushrooms, methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl. That would provide them manytimes the profit that they are receiving now.  T
I agree with you, @Sithara007, that taxing habits like smoking and drinking is one of the best ways to limit them. How does a "not-so-supportive government" originate? TBH, if you truly care about our well-being, you should be aware of the other negative effects of those things on us, such as second-hand smoking, which is more dangerous than the user's own smoke. Alcohol causes a person to be violent; there have been numerous studies on this and it can already be proven by simply attending a party and 1 out of 10 can cause harm and violence if drunk, especially if his personality is aggressive. These kinds of things are very dangerous to humans and can affect other people too even they're not the users, physical and mental.

There are many ways to tax, and taxing cigarettes and alcohol is very reasonable for me because I don't smoke because it's bad for our health and not recommended, and those who will be against it are the users.

This kind of taxes should not be applied with gambling as gambling belongs to entertainment and it does not always bring negative effects to gamblers, yes they may lose money in gambling but if it's treated as entertainment, then it should still give them satisfaction. Everyone has their own interest and way to entertain themselves, and not because some people are addicted to gambling, it should not be generalized as gambling being a bad thing.

Agree to that, he's still in good shape if he managed not to get any major injuries, if he played and jive well with his teammates Boston might signed him with his dream contract and stay with the franchise.

Quote
Let's just hope that not only he will play an impressive seasons but he also need to be health, we don't want to see what happened to Isaiah Thomas who have a very good seasons with the Celtics but when he got injured, the team did not sign him anymore.
I remember that, Thomas almost bring them to the finals, but LeBron still dominating the east back then and they don't have the power to stop him.

Thomas career after that injury turned to nothing, he can still play but not that star caliber anymore.

Injuries could really kill a player's career, and we can't blame the team for not signing a player due to injury problem since this is business, they are just protecting their interest and they want to ensure that once they sign a player for long term deal, he can perform his best for the period of time.

3373  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr - August 21 on: August 09, 2021, 02:18:00 PM
Really large and you can maximize your win if you bet on Manny and if he wins. I hope there's someone here that will share his experience using the site, I'm sure it is not hard to register and deposit money, but since there's a KYC, then probably that's another thing, someone has to be willing to submit their information will only have a chance to gamble here.

That was really a nice odds but for that .2 to .3 difference, then just stick with a crypto-betting site unless you want to comply with KYC which is a common requirement for fiat bookies.

Checking stake.com, the odds for Manny Pacquiao was now on 2.6. In a span of 2 weeks, it's playing between 2.5 to 2.6 which is already a good pick to consider.

The odds for Pacquiao's winning methods are also attractive. Let's see.

I feel like that 2.60 is already a gift, Pacquiao has not lost fights also after he loses against Marquez, so there's really a chance that he will win here. With that very attractive odds, I'm sure I will never regret betting on him even if he loses, but I'm hoping he will not lose.

Yeah sure if Jeff horn and Floyd Mayweather bout doesn't count or are you assuming that Pacman won on both fights? I see what you are trying to point out here but he is facing a formidable and on prime boxer right now on his class, that 2.6 odds is still low considering the current condition of both fighter. Unless its more than 3.0 odds then it is worthy a risk but I rather watch the fight rather than bet on one those guys.

He forgets to look at the fight record of Pacquiao here https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/6129. That loss against Floyd Mayweather Jr was pretty convincing but not on Jeff Horn's loss as the world called it a robbery in daylight, it was clear that Manny won but the judges favors their own fighter.
3374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 09, 2021, 01:06:04 PM

More likely he will end up in Boston, they have traded Kemba Walker, so they need a point guard now. And Dennis will be a perfect fit, however, as per report, Celtics can only offer one or two year deal. Remember that he turn down a Lakers offer of $84 million for four years. So doesn't have any good options this season, worst he could end up to his previous team - OKC. So it's really up to him and his agent, shop him around and take less money if he really wanted to get out of the Lakers.

Better than nothing at all, That point of turning down Lakers offer might reflect to him once there's no available contract for him. Else, he will accept Boston's offer and play with them, like what you said he's fit with them since Walker already went out and this team needs a good quality point guard who can also bring some good numbers.

Will wait for further updates from this dude if he'll finally land to a good team that he deserve.

If he has no choice then he has to accept that offer, after two years if he did very well with Boston, maybe the management will decide to extend him and give him a maximum contract. Hopefully, this guy will finally land a team, it's very sad if he will not get signed at all after rejecting the Lakers offer.

He is still young that time, at 27 years old now, if he can sign with the Celtics, he will be 29 years old after 2 years and a player is still at prime that time. Let's just hope that not only he will play an impressive seasons but he also need to be health, we don't want to see what happened to Isaiah Thomas who have a very good seasons with the Celtics but when he got injured, the team did not sign him anymore.
3375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Effects of Greed in Gambling on: August 09, 2021, 12:49:59 PM
Being greedy in gambling means you don't have the satisfaction and you will just always lose in the long run.

The basic requirement for responsible gambling is to be responsible, because that's the only way you'll be able to minimize the risk and if you will develop your skills, you might also become one of the few gamblers who are successful of making a living in gambling.
3376  Economy / Economics / Re: Why would people ever use bitcoin if its expected to always go up? on: August 08, 2021, 10:11:50 PM
Bitcoin is conceived primarily as a digital currency. These days, for most people, its most tangible use is as an investment tool.

Bitcoin may do well as an investment. Or it may not. We will never know for sure, while the market for bitcoin as an investment vehicle is ramping up, the market for bitcoin as a currency is dwindling. But I think there will always be people willing to spend their coins. To begin with, miners sell bitcoin to cover their mining costs. Investors liquidate their investments for a variety of reasons. And finally, there are users whose salary is paid in bitcoin, who need to pay their daily living expenses.
With all the valid reasons listed above, i do think spending bitcoin will create an issue. After all, we get to invest or mine bitcoin for the sake of our own financial security and becoming stable these days.

And once bitcoin will reach its endpoint having to use it as a legal currency with the government supporting it, more likely its value will be less volatile or might be controlled just like fiat. But still, bitcoin will always have its great advantage over fiat in the form of currency or as an asset or investment.
3377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of crypto on: August 08, 2021, 09:50:58 PM
China is always two steps ahead of all other countries in terms of future tech and I think the reason why they ban crypto miners is because of their CBDC but what will happen if other countries later follow the same steps? Will this put crypto in trouble?

each country has its own strategy in running cryptocurrencies and is not centered on China. so whatever is done by the Chinese state will not have a very big influence on other big countries. and the news of the ban was there a few years ago. but cryptocurrencies are still growing today and the future of crypto is not in China.
Exactly. Crypto has been doing good performance even without China supporting it. But we should admit that banning of bitcoin in China has created a negative impact into the crypto market but as expected, it has overcome the situation and find its way to recover and even reaching new all time highs.

Now, if other countries will follow China, i don't think crypto will get affected anymore. Crypto can be ban, yes it is, but there's no way they can shut down crypto and put it into its end. Crypto might be even more motivated and rise up more than we expect it.
3378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin brings us true freedom of thought on: August 08, 2021, 09:27:51 PM
After the introduction of Western Union money transfer I was actually expecting a more convenient means of digital transactions that wouldn't have secrecy but at the same time not private so the both parties could attest to their transactions. I never believed bitcoin would bring a lasting solution but here we are in an open medium where no one feels insecure anymore about making transactions.
Bitcoin has been a good tool to cut all our insecurities and find freedom through the presence of bitcoin. We are no longer controlled by any entity or group so we all have the freedom what to do with our own money.

And i'm grateful with bitcoin because he never disappoint me will all my expectations. Now i can finally say that bitcoin is our future. With all the ideas that come to clash here in the forum, i know more and more individuals will be enlighten and open up their minds on the thoughts about bitcoin and finally invest and use it in its perfect time.
3379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Accumulating small odds or choosing one or two big odds on: August 08, 2021, 12:11:43 PM
The most obvious advantage is that betting exchanges offer an unlimited number of possibilities. For example, you can bet the outcome of a match with ridiculous odds and if someone else bets the opposite you can win or lose depending on the event our statement is not a matter of the type of bet or the market as long as a player has to bet with the opposite adversity, you will have the opportunity to bet successfully on the platform. Whatever the disadvantages, it is important to make sports betting more attractive and challenging.

For me these large number of possibilities to bet on a match is rather distracting than an advantage. u know there are skilled gamblers who can make very high profits on combi bets. But every time I am combing multiple bets I tend to lose one of the bets and all the money is gone. Having so many possibility makes it harder for me to choose one. So in the end the best for me is to just bet on who is winning, even though the payoff is lower.

Responsible gaming always find a higher chance of winning even it's only have small amount of profits, they are good in collecting small bets and they are willing to spare lots of time inside the game house,

More into your personal choice, if you are looking for big winning taking high risk game or parlay games will give you quick outcome.

But if you are only concern in winning even in a slow pace, betting with high chance winning with low odd is good enough for you.

At least you'll not lose a lot of money betting on the parlay, just like putting your money in a lottery, low chance of winning but if you are lucky, you'll eventually make a lot of money. I also try to parlay bets sometimes, just for fun, who knows I will hit the jackpot, but I know making it consistent will also cost me a lot of money in the long run, so I just do it occasionally.
3380  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 08, 2021, 11:43:10 AM
There's no decision for the final venue yet but more importantly, IATF allowed them to resumed on GCQ and MGCQ areas.

The ECQ will only last until the 20th. I don't see why PBA should give another effort to continue on the province. It's just over a week more then PBA will again resume at their usual arena. No hassle, no extra cost, no need to comply again with new protocols on the province and so. If they will start to pack up and fix everything, it might take almost a week or 3-4 days at least a minimum. Only a few days more and ECQ will be lifted here.
I've heard that it's going to be in Batangas for which the news before that someone posted a banner that they're welcoming PBA. But that was long time ago.
Yeah, there's no announcement yet. I understand that they have to cope up with such schedule and such delays might affect the entire schedule of the league and that's probably why they're pushing to find a venue even if this ECQ is just two weeks.

I have read in the news that the venue now that they seriously consider is Pampanga is it is MGCQ there.

wherever they will holding the bubble, I'm just glad that they are considering the resumption of PBA. Too much bad news these days and news like this will at least give some relief to people who are just staying at home since it's ECQ in some parts of the country.

Quote

PBA in Pampanga
Now, the PBA hierarchy is considering other provinces to host its game, including Pampanga, which hosted the Philippine Cup last year under a full bubble setup.

Pampanga is currently under MGCQ.

It happened all of a sudden and no one has expected that there's going to be an ECQ and the nearby provinces are also going to be part of it as we're in a bubble plus.
The PBA officials, if they're decided to put that back in Pampanga then that's much better as they've got a lot of choices so that they can continue the league even if there's a hindrance due to the implementation of the ECQ.

They are already granted, so the final venue is Pampanga.

PBA granted IATF nod for GCQ play, eyes Pampanga return for PH Cup

Quote
The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has allowed the resumption of the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup on Friday, August 6, with the condition that the league will only play in areas under a standard general community quarantine (GCQ) or lower.

There's no more hindrance, we will eventually see the resumption of the PBA anytime soon.
