3381  Economy / Economics / Re: China says it will trade normally with Russia on: February 26, 2022, 02:32:57 PM
I would be surprised if the opposite happens, which is that China has imposed sanctions on Russia. China is benefiting from what is happening, as it can import oil and gas cheaper than international prices. Therefore, punishing Russia means wasting a lot of raw resources.
Cheaper you say? As a result of this war and Russia being the second largest oil producing nation in the world being hit by all of this sanctions, it is expected that the price of oil would skyrocket, why do you think China would be able to get it at a cheaper rate with all that is happening?
- The pitiful Ukraine and it's people got dragged along with the schemes of the US and got left hanging. US has been provoking Russia time and time again with their schemes. Too bad Ukraine failed to notice or just ignored the fact that they are being used just for a bit of short-term benefits.
I believe every country is first of all loyal and sensitive to their own security, sovereignty and interest, and that is exactly what the U.S. is doing at the moment, i see a couple of people blaming them (U.S.), and i don't see the reason why, Ukraine and Russia have had a long standing feud of which the U.S. has had minimal aggressive interference. Ukraine isn't even a NATO country, so there is really nothing binding the U.S. to intervene militarily. I just feel the U.S has an obligation to first protect lives and properties within their own country, if they get dragged into this, a lot of U.S. citizens would lose their lives with properties and industries destroyed, even if they'll win, but it will come at a cost, and rightfully so they are not willing to do that.
3382  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of Emotional Scam on: February 26, 2022, 01:23:32 PM
I was having a relationship with a lady who claim to be a Bitcoin broker analyst for a year
Well, i guess this was an online relationship, it is nothing unusual and fiat has been used to pepetrate this scam for a very long time, something very similar to the "princess scam". why would one even believe the story someone tells them over the internet, there has to be a level of interest in it for them, and by extension Greed, thus the end product is loss of funds.

I would not even relate this to emotion, it is sheer greed, the scammer would just basically try to create a relationship with you, but they are smart to know that is not enough, then they proceed to making you an offer, promises of you both making money together, and that is were people fall, how can you invest in a company you are not sure exists, just based on promises, that is way too easy to fall.

In my opinion the only lesson to learn here is: anything that is too good to be true, is a scam, and any offer for you to deposit some money to get a certain percentage later is a scam.
3383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: February 26, 2022, 10:31:56 AM
Real Madrid must try hard to qualify from the last 16, because they are 1 goal behind on aggregate from Paris Saint-Germain. Paris Saint-Germain is also not a team that is easy to beat by the Real Madrid team. But I still believe that Real Madrid will be able to do that with their hard work.
If Real Madrid are to have any chance of qualifying for the quarter finals, then they must play a lot better than they did in the first leg of this tie, as a matter of fact they are in this losing position cause of how they approached the first leg, i think Ancelotti was more defensive than offensive when the two teams met a couple of weeks ago, and that is not the sort of approach we expect from a team of Real's standard. If they can up their game and play with a big more freedom then they have a chance in the second leg, but if they play the same way i am pretty sure they will be eliminated.

Another team that needs to change their approach is Manchester United, they have not be good this season, likewise their opponent Athletico though, but i think United were only lucky to equalize in that game and leave with a draw, Athletico remain my favorites to qualify and i believe they will defeat United in the second leg and go through.
3384  Economy / Economics / China says it will trade normally with Russia on: February 26, 2022, 09:07:23 AM
It is basically clear that following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the only response from the U.S. U.K. and other European power houses would be via sanctions, aimed at crippling the Russian economy (i doubt the possibility though, considering how important Russia is to Europe), but having said that, these countries have gone ahead to stand true with their threats and imposed a couple of sanctions, and according to them, "many more to come", but one significant country that is yet to follow suit is China, as they claim their business with Russia with continue normally, see this excerpt:
Quote
China’s foreign ministry said Thursday the country’s trade with Russia and Ukraine would remain “normal” and refused to call the attack an “invasion.” Meanwhile, the customs agency approved wheat imports from Russia.
From the above, it does not look like China has any intentions of joining the mass in imposing sanctions on Russia for invading Ukraine a couple of days ago. If China takes this direction, wouldn't it also encourage other countries to do likewise, and if the sanctions isn't a sweeping one, then it might not have the desired negative effect on Russia that the Eurpean union, U.S and U.K. wants it to have, though the U.S doesn't think that way, see the excerpt below:
Quote
China’s trade with Russia isn’t enough to offset the impact of U.S. and European sanctions on Moscow, according to the White House.
Do you agree with the above? In my opinion i think they may be correct, but it would definitely be much better and could stop Russia's invasion of Ukraine sooner if all countries unite to impose sanctions. There is another very important aspect to the news:
Quote
In the hours after Russia invaded Ukraine on Thursday, the U.S., U.K. and European Union announced new sanctions aimed at isolating Moscow from the global economy. The sweeping measures did not include restrictions on purchases of Russian oil and gas — a significant driver of the local economy.
I think the above highlights the importance of Russian oil and gas to the world, and as a result do you think it is possible for Russia to face complete isolation? Is Russia more important to Europe, than Europe is to Russia? It is also clear that any sanction imposed would affect the both parties, so to what end is it? What is the possible solution, if any?

3385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: February 24, 2022, 09:03:14 PM
What Liverpool is doing is really great, that was a great back up csuse alot of people think already that the city will be the champion, now just 3 points gap and the competition is on fire again, the incoming matches for both clubs will be very decisive and the premier league still the best competition to watch
You can say that again, the remaining 12 matches or so is going to be more like finals, so we can expect to be thrilled anytime either City or Liverpool step out to play, the pressure is really on, i think City are feeling it more cause half of the world thought they had the league in their cabinet already, but Liverpool have rallied back and are just three points adrift at the moment. The two teams (City and Liverpool) meet in a couple of weeks, and i think that game is really going to be crucial, and it will have a lot to 'say' as to who becomes champion at the end of the season.
3386  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How safe is hardware wallet for real on: February 24, 2022, 07:36:42 PM
Hardware wallets are the safest, but mind you that they are not safe without the efforts of the user, people erroneously feel since they have a hardware wallet they can rest on their laurels, NO, you will lose your funds through your own folly if you do that.

Having said that, i think the most important reason why the HW wallet is said to be the safest is cause it keeps your keys offline, mind you that majority of the times people lose their funds cause they keep it in a hot wallet (online), it makes it easier for a hacker to break in if that is the case, so a hardware wallet keeps your keys offline, mind you, not your funds, but your keys, that is cause your funds are not stored in your wallet, but on the network and can only be spent through your keys.

Another reason is that a Hardware wallet has a pin, that i can say can be an additional security cause without your pin i do not think it is possible for one to break in and have access to your private keys. Of course you have to write out your seed phrase and ensure it is in the safest place possible and also ensuring that the computer you connect to is free from malware and other whatnots, that is where you as the user have to do your own part of securing yourself and not believing the HW wallet would do that for you.
3387  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHY HOLDING IS NECESSARY IN CRYPTO on: February 24, 2022, 08:27:21 AM
It's not as if we don't also have Bitcoin plummeting too. In fact, it's always bloody whenever Bitcoin dips. It has been behaving that way since this year. We've such a situation at hand right now. Bitcoin is literally digging for crude oil and currently at $34,820. Who knows, it may even get to $30k before reverting. Already, it's losing around 50% from its ATH. If it were any alt losing that much, the whole place would've been filled with people lambasting it.
Mind you that in my post i never stated that Bitcoin does not go through its own plunge/correction period, but here is the thing: Op is talking about holding, and that connotes long term investment, and when you talk of a coin that's sustainable for the long period in crypto, the first is Bitcoin (that is unarguable), it might not be the only one, but it has to be the most reliable for long term investment.

Having said that, there are quite a lot of altcoins, and as an investor the odds are already stacked against you from the beginning to pick the right one (maybe 3 out of 100, or 200...) Do not get me wrong, i am not saying there are no good alts out there, but the thing remains that majority of altcoins are only good for short term investment, again taking into consideration that OP's post was about holding, so Bitcoin should be the best 'offer'.
3388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 23, 2022, 08:26:50 PM
I cannot help than become happy how competitive Italian league has become this season. For some seasons it has always been the show of Juventus, a even winning the league while there will be 7matches and above left.
I absolutely have to agree with you, sorry to Juventus fans, but i mean the monopoly was actually getting out of hand and indeed it made the league somewhat boring, but in the past two seasons it has not been easy for juventus and that meant more competition for the seria A title, and to be honest it has caused more people to be interested in the league i'm sure.
Talking about who will win the season, I tip Ac Milan to win the title because they do not have challenges or matches in the European stage. If Ac Milan fails to win, I give it to Inter Milan because of their outstanding match. Napoli may not survive Barcelona pressure and still have the power to contend.
Right from the beginning of the season i have stood with Inter Milan to win the league and retain their title, i know they have dropped some vital points in the last couple of weeks but i still feel they should be able to see this one across the line, it is really going to be difficult, they are currently 2nd, and behind AC Milan, though having played a game less, i just feel going into the final lap of the season and at the end of all the twists and turns, Inter will be champions, but we have to wait and see.
3389  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHY HOLDING IS NECESSARY IN CRYPTO on: February 23, 2022, 05:29:59 PM
Holding is not necessary in 'crypto', Hodling is necessary with Bitcoin, Do you know how many cryptocurrencies there are out there, many of which are shitcoins, pump and dump and short term projects, you will definitely run into loss in the long run if you hold 99% of them. Mind you also that we already even have a similar thread: how to hold with ease on the front page of this section, it really would have been better if you had this posted there.
3390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to hold with ease on: February 23, 2022, 09:06:23 AM
1. Unexpected money needed
2.  They got tired of a never ending bear market
3. Loss of job
4. Advice from weak hands (discourage).
Most of the above wouldn't be a reason to sell or panic if an investor does what is expected of them, investing only what you can afford to lose is one, if you invest in that way using only a spare part of your funds or incorporating the DCA investment strategy for example, then you would prolly not have to go to your portfolio if you need money, even if you lose your job, you would have saved up a lot the traditional way and as well as bitcoin, and the fiat you prolly have will suffice till you can get a new job at least (but mind you that if it does not, then sell). Then as for gettting tired of the bear market and getting discouraged, i am pretty sure people who have sufficiently done their research and understand the Bitcoin network would not be fazed by that, so knowledge helps with that one.
Here are few points that can make holding easy for you
All of your other points in this regard are valid ones, but then again we must set apart Bitcoin from other crypto, if we talk of just Bitcoin, then it is actually a great idea to learn how to be patient and hold on for the long term cause it is sustainable for the long period, but personally i would not advice one to hold on to altcoins for too long, i think if you make some ROI, it is smarter to sell and look for another one, that is cause they are usually short term projects/pump and dump coins.
3391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 22, 2022, 09:42:51 PM
City is doing awesome right now but believe me, they could do a lot better. They have so much money that, they could offer 200 million dollars to Mbappe, not that he would leave, he is going to Madrid if you ask me, but at the end of the day they have that kind of money and that matters a lot. If they get a star like that, then Sterling could be gone.
I understand your points, but City would not just sign a player for an astronomical amount just cause they can, there are quite a lot of logistics involved, of which FFP rules is one, mind you that City also just recently signed Grealish for a hundred million, thus i do not expect them to spend a crazy amount anytime soon and that again could be another reason to want to keep Sterling happy in the team. If you ask me, the City team is really complete and they do not even need additions, but should try and keep their players, i would have said they need a striker, but it almost looks like they do not (with the number of goals they score), they signed Alvarez a few weeks ago though, and i do not know if the club is interested in grooming the lad gradually into the team (after the loan and all), or if they are just gonna outrightly go for a world class striker now, while waiting for Alvarez to develop.
3392  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 22, 2022, 09:03:05 PM
With eleven rounds still to go and gape of points is just six between leaders Bayern and second spotted Dortmund most chances your prediction could be true and Bayern will win again this title, but most chances as Bayern is losing some grip we will have some twist before end of this season.
If only it was possible for another team to take the title from Bayern, nobody except Bayern fans love this monopoly Bayern have established in the league for years now, we already know who is going to be German champions even before the league begins, i know they dropped a couple of points in the last few weeks and that has brought Dortmund to within six points of the table toppers, can Dorrmund usurp them? It is going to be difficult, but not entirely impossible.

I would actually be hoping we get some twists in the closing stages of the season, something to make things more interesting, especially for the neutrals, if Bayern continues to win the league in this manner, then so many of us would not bother watching or following the German Bundesliga.
3393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: February 22, 2022, 08:31:10 PM
I'm contented with the title rivalry's being fired up again after an epic match between Manchester City and Tottenham.
I am pretty sure Liverpool fans and the neutrals will really like the fact that the title race is back on, only City fans would have enjoyed a manchester City stroll to the title, but now that things are competitive again, it brings more thrills and drama and makes things a little bit more interesting. Having said that, i think City are the team under pressure, Liverpool are just doing what they have to do, which is win and continue to chase, but City well aware that liverpool are hot on their heels and they must not slip up, adds a little weight on their shoulders. City also have a tough game against United coming up pretty soon, i actually trust Pep and his boys to hold top spot till the end of the season, but it is really going to be difficult to say the least, but we can only watch and enjoy.
3394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Only Small % Of Tokens/Coins Survive on: February 21, 2022, 11:59:33 PM
Obviously, many of them won't last long, and come to think of it, when you look at their use cases you'll understand that many of them weren't even created to be sustainable for the long period because their use case can't maintain that or rather is not 'useful' enough to last long. You look at many of such coins and all you see is reincarnated use cases that is totally not sought-after, i know there are some projects that have fetched some investors good ROI prolly cause they invested right before the pump and sold just before the dump, but generally altcoins should be treated as short term investments, do not hold them for too long thinking they are Bitcoins that rises back up after every plunge.

In November, 2019
Nov 2019? That is about two years ago, why still post about it? Especially when it is nothing new, just the usual type of scam.
The email asks recipients to include their full name, country, mobile number, date of birth and occupation.
If you had sent, then the reply would request you to send some money to claim your price, still nothing new.
So I discovered that it was scam.
Yes it is, or was. Still nothing new mate.
3396  Other / Meta / Re: Fluent with multiple languages, can i join multiple local boards? on: February 21, 2022, 05:03:54 PM
AFAIK, there is no rule against it, and it is of course not wrong to engage in discussions in any part of the forum as long as you understand what is being said and can also contribute constructively, if you understand and can as well write in the language efficiently, then no problem. I think were there could be an issue/problem is if you try to post continuously in a local board using Google translator and posing like you actually do know how to write in the said language.
3397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 21, 2022, 04:50:11 PM
I have heard that Pep Guardiola is really eager to keep Raheem Sterling at the club by extending his contract. Because there are so many rumours like he can leave the club this summer if he doesn't get a new offer from his current club.
I expect City keep Sterling at the Etihad, he has been brilliant for them for a long time now and even if there have been periods of loss of form (which is normal), he is still an invaluable player overall. City got Grealish at the beginning of this season, and i kinda think that signing was in response to sterlings loss of form at the time and possibility of an exit, but Grealish has been far from good since signing for City, and that could thus give them double thoughts if to let Sterling go or not.

3398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: February 21, 2022, 01:19:33 PM
Arsenal have 3 games left, this is their chance to win that game and move up the rankings to overtake Manchester United. Arsenal now have 42 points from 23 games, while Manchester United have 46 points from 26 games.
The battle for top four continues to heat up, it is really competitive with no less than three teams fighting to make it to play CL football next season, as things stand now Arsenal seem to be in control of things, and if they keep on winning then there is a chance, actually my favorites to finish fourth is Arsenal, i think they are the most consistent of the teams vying for that position, and having being away from CL for a pretty long time, i expect them to make no mistakes and continue doing the right thing.

Just as the top four battle rages on, so is the race for the title that was completely blown open after Spurs defeated City in the weekend, i am sure Pep will be calling for calm from his players, but i am very sure they will be under a lot of pressure as liverpool is hot on their heels, i still think City will edge Liverpool to the title, but who knows.
3399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 21, 2022, 11:12:38 AM
It is quite interesting how Roma was able to get back into the game. Mourinho  has a reliable strategy the second half against verona proved a whole lot. taking off from 0-2 loss to a 2-2 draw showed lots of strength and team play. mourinho might have more work to do to secure a win against future matches
Yes, Roma showed real courage and determination to get back on level terms and earn themselves a point in that game even after being two goals down, but the reality is that they lost two points in a game they ordinarily should have won, and we could see Mourinho's frustrations in the final minutes of the game. Roma started this season pretty strongly, and we all thought they would finish in the top four and return back to the Champions league, but that is looking increasingly impossible now, they sit in 8th position currently, and Mourinho knows if he fails to take Roma to the CL next season, then this would be a failed season. Do you think Roma would qualify for the CL next season?
3400  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to use report to moderator? on: February 21, 2022, 10:21:08 AM
I would like to inform those reports to the moderator. Will there be any problem for me or any action will be taken against that topic.
Go ahead and report any topic you consider as low quality and that breaks the rule, there will be no negative action for you, and action will definitely be taken against the thread or reply if the moderator considers your report to be good/correct. You do not have to be reluctant to report bad posts, just make sure you are doing it accurately, the forum actually appreciates such effort and contribution, that is why there have been numerous discussions on awarding users with reporters badge for their efforts to rid the forum of bad posts. There is as yet no official reporters badge on the forum, though we may get one soon, but there is an unofficial Bitcointalk reporters badge. Over here is also another thread that shows the forum appreciates users making good reports on low quality posts, so if you start now, you can definitely do as good in the long run
