3381  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump's arms deal with Saudi Arabia cost taxpayers $100b on: May 22, 2017, 12:05:24 PM
I am curious to know what Bitcointalk's opinion is about this.

"Saudi Arabia and many of the countries that gave cast amounts of money to the Clinton Foundation want women as slaves and to kill gays. Hillary must return all money from such countries!"
~Pre-election Trump

To be very honest, I doubt this will make a difference, if Trump supporters could be convinced with reason, they wouldn't have voted for him in the first place.

The reason possibly that Trump won the election is due to this principle " choose the lesser evil". Trump is much better than Clinton and if Clinton won the election shed be much worst than Trump. Trump is pro-life and hilary is anti-life with regard to the issue of abortion. The economy of America as well as solving the most crucial issues in America which is unemployment will be solved by Trump.
3382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Development in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa on: May 22, 2017, 11:57:54 AM
Well the appeal for Bitcoin and the blockchain is going to be different in different countries.  It's somewhat popular in Venezuela due to the unstable fiat currency, somewhat popular in Nigeria due to... well... princes...

And so many other countries.  Sometimes it'll be a money making scheme - when you have something global like Bitcoin and the cost of living is really low in your country, you can earn quite a lot more than in your day job sometimes.

That is a fact. The cost of living in my country is low and with the dollars value and bitcoin both going up my profit from bitcoin is doubled. Comparing my income online and my regular job  there is a huge gap. I am earning more online compared to my regular job. That is thanks to bitcoin and hope people in Africa will also enjoy these kind of benefits and will decrease the citizens who are unable to earn.
3383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sending small amounts of bitcoin on: May 22, 2017, 11:11:08 AM
It cant be unencrypted, its the spora ransomware.
I've done lots of reading and tried everything, they did a really good job on the encrypting

What websites can we use to send for $3-4 dollar fees?

.

If you are being a victim of wannacry ransomware there are already solutions on these kind of ransomware on the web. But since its another kind of ransomware well you have no choice but to pay them. The best way to send bitcoins especially in paying for the decryption of ransomware you need to at least need a 4 to 5$ extra when you send it
3384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: May 21, 2017, 12:15:06 PM
I dont really in favor of spending bitcoin over drugs, its just an insult of your hardwork. Why not spending it into something useful,we all know how drugs works, maybe it gave a good benifits to anyone but i dont think that is a better idea.

If a person has the capacity to buy drugs using fiat currency then he will also be able to buy drugs using bitcoin. The problem is not with bitcoin but the person who will be using it. In the past bitcoin was famous in the black market as a currency to purchase drugs, weapons and other illegal accessories, merchandise and services. Today there are still people who use bitcoins in buying illegal items but the majority uses it on investments.
3385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If I were Satoshi Nakamoto... on: May 21, 2017, 12:09:08 PM
If you were Satoshi Nakamoto, would you:

  • reveal yourself?
  • if so, how would you do this?
  • what would you think of Bitcoin today?
  • what would you think of altcoins today?

If I were Satoshi Nakamoto I will still implement a decentralized system. But I will layout a clear system for bitcoins such that will include an automatic code updates that will automatically increase the blocksize when the transactions reach a certain number. With that kind of set-up all transactions will be confirmed in an instant and we will have low miner fees.
3386  Economy / Economics / Re: Switzerland as a bitcoin haven on: May 21, 2017, 12:03:54 PM
it is really a good news for us who are engaged in bitcoin, hopefully, it starts strongly, is bitcoin could cover in Europe then it will be a great achievement for becoming a global currency.
so let's see what will happen....

At this point Europe will take some time before they will follow the footsteps of Switzerland. But I can see asia as having the most potential for bitcoin offline transactions. We do have Japans adoption of bitcoin last april and it made a huge impact on bitcoins price and soon other asian countries will also follow Japan. By next month Australia will follow the lead of Japan and it will be the spark that will soon lit a fire in the whole Australian continent.
3387  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Julian Assange defiant as Sweden drops rape investigation on: May 21, 2017, 11:59:51 AM
Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has said he will not forgive and forget attempts to arrest him over rape allegations which led him to seek asylum in Ecuador's London embassy. See the video and the details: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-39979343

I dont understand clearly how was the situation come to that. But I did some thinking if he really has done some rape attempts and that is the main reason why he hide in Ecuador and he only came out after he paid the victim that removes his petition in court. But I dont want to make more comments and I will the readings and decision to the court. If he is not guilty then justice will prevail.
3388  Economy / Economics / Re: First investments in bitcoins on: May 21, 2017, 11:55:08 AM
More likely Id like to invest now in altcoins, you had a good choice to invest in Eth, Monero which is quite profitable. I wouldnt suggest to invest in bitcoin because of its price is high and we cannot predict its pump until to what its price. So, its good to invest in altcoins were for sure a profitable in the long run if we choose the right coin to invest in.

Yes, some alternative coins showed very good growth last month. But do not forget that investing in them is even more risky than investing in bitcoin

If you will look at the charts you will notice that the trend on alternative coins are not that stable compare to bitcoin. Altcoins have more tendency to decrease in value than bitcoins. And so if you are not careful you will end up in the losing end instead of earning. Bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency since its value keeps going up and the moment its value rises the altcoin holders begins selling their coins.
3389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1989 Ransomware on: May 21, 2017, 11:48:08 AM

Left: The harmless-seeming app install screen. / Right: The ransomware message that threatened users a few days later.

This caught my attention the other day. It's funny how Ransomware has existed for so much time, dating back to DOS days. And they used a Panama offshores account of course.

Those blaming bitcoin for the invention of all evil ransomware programs should do some research.

This post is an eye opener and this information must be shared so that the reputation of bitcoin will saved from the misunderstanding and misinterpretations that bitcoin is a hackers money. Thus this topic will be very helpful to inform the public that ransomware have existed since DOS days and it just evolved and started using bitcoin in their schemes.
3390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: we need to stop using bitcoin and start using... on: May 21, 2017, 11:43:53 AM
... satoshi instead (click-bait master)  Cool

today someone came to me saying how he was regretting not listening to me and investing in bitcoin. apparently he checked the price this morning Cheesy
and he continued that now it is too late since he can not buy 1 whole bitcoin.

i had to sit him down and have the "talk" with him about all the 8 more zeros that come after the 1 whole bitcoin and the fact that he can choose (almost) any of them and put a number and buy there.

that is why i think it is time to start using the smaller units for bitcoin more often.

i myself prefer Satoshi over all. but there are a lot of them.

most popular:
mBTC= 0.00100000BTC
uBTC=bits= 0.00000100BTC
satoshi=0.00000001BTC

more here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Units

I do also prefer using satoshi since the conversion is very easy and it is not hard to compute. And aside from that when the time comes that bitcoins value is at 100 million dollars then we will not have a hard time to compute and convert how much dollars is equivalent to 1 bitcoin. Satoshi is very efficient compared to other computations.
3391  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US - are sports team names insulting indigenous people? on: May 21, 2017, 11:41:15 AM
In the US there's been a growth in politically correct behavior expectations. Some people are big fans of being politically correct always, others are more lenient, believing instead that context and intent needs to play a part in whether an action or word is politically incorrect.

One way this politically correct movement is manifesting itself is in a small but growing protest agains sports team names after the indigenous people of the North American continent.

Examples:
  • Cleveland Indians (baseball)
  • Washington Redskins (football)
  • Kansas City Chiefs (football)

What do you all think about this? Are these team names "insulting"? Should they be banished? Or are they celebratory and, in a way, honoring the heritage of North America?

The hype is currently found in the US but I realize this could apply globally, so global discussion is certainly welcome!

If you will read the history of those countries who use the names of indigenous peoples then you will come to understand why they are using those names. It is a sign of respect and honor, they are using those names to remind them that once the land that they are occupying have ones been the land of the indigenous people. Thus having those name doesnt imply disrespect but respect.
3392  Economy / Economics / Re: If the Number of BTC is Limited, How do You Take Account for Economic Growth? on: May 21, 2017, 11:38:35 AM
Explain that theory...

In the forex exchange the more a country has a US dollar coming in the more the value of their fiat currency becomes. So think this way, if you buy more bitcoins today using few of your dollars and if you store your bitcoins for five years. After five years the price of bitcoin is already at 1 million dollars each. The difference of the dollars you spent and the dollars that you will earn when you sell your bitcoins is very high. Thus if you sell your bitcoins there will be more dollars coming in the country and that will make your local fiat currency to increase in value.
3393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people are asking you about Bitcoin now? on: May 21, 2017, 11:33:54 AM
I've been talking about Bitcoin to family, friends and random people for years and nobody seemed to mind when BTC was under $1000. But now that Bitcoin has reached $2000, people are starting to realize that owning 1 BTC is beginning to be out of reach for the average person.

I've had more people ask me about Bitcoin lately and wanted help buying Bitcoins. What about you?

I can relate with that story since before I was a loner in our community who engaged in bitcoin but today as the price of bitcoin goes higher and higher my officemates were already buying and storing some bitcoins for their own. But with the thought in their head that if they will hold bitcoins they will get a huge profit on the coming years.
3394  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin price on: May 21, 2017, 11:31:20 AM
Bitcoin is moving to $2000 today. What is the impact of this geometrical price movement to the world financial system? Let us discuss.

There are no huge impact on the world financial system but only to the businessman and to the users who are dealing with bitcoin. I am one of the bitcoin user and at the same time an earner, with the increased price of bitcoin the more profit will I get. In the end, the only thing for bitcoin to have a huge impact on the world financial system is for it to be accepted by countries not as a commodity but as a currency.
3395  Economy / Economics / Re: [idea] A federal reserve system for bitcoin on: May 21, 2017, 11:24:16 AM
Interesting idea. However, this will make xapo to become the gate keeper and I am not sure if they are good enough to take up this role...

The system is great but just like what you said Xapo is not up for the job. Xapo have their own design and system in which they will not be overruled by some modification not coming from within. But as a tip why dont you submit your proposal to xapo and if they will work hand -in-hand with you many will join and will have the confidence to be a part of your plan.
3396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin should be decentralized even further on: May 21, 2017, 11:21:30 AM
China having most of the Bitcoin's hashrate is a bad idea for its decentralization. Since Bitmain is one of the largest ASIC mining hardware manufacturers in the world, it is one where it holds the majority of the pioneer cryptocurrency's hashrate.

As a result of this, due to Bitcoin's mining becoming more centralized each day, it is getting harder to reach consensus among the miners, especially with the acceptance of scalable solutions like SegWit. Since miners are mostly in for the profit, they don't care much about expanding Bitcoin's transaction capacity, but rather prefer for the same to keep increasing in transaction fees, so they could earn more money per block mined.

That is why, in my own opinion, Bitcoin's mining scheme should be decentralized even further to prevent big mining companies from taking over the important decisions of Bitcoin, and give the power back to average every day people. Perhaps a switch to a new mining algorithm which would be more resistant to ASIC will be the most viable solution to this problem.

What do you think?  Roll Eyes

Well I do agree with that but first and foremost before any decentralization could come in hand I think Satoshi had already placed a standard or guidelines for miners to follow so at this point of time we will not have problems with the fees and slow confirmation. Though bitcoin is decentralized there are a lot of movements to make bitcoins under a centralized control.
3397  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin goes up very high should i buy a house? on: May 21, 2017, 11:07:35 AM
Not just a house I want to buy, but the latest 2-door sports car, I would buy the apartment and make love with many women, patience is the thing we have to do because when the prices rise makes us be tempted to sell it.

Buy a house is very nice plan, because that is for a life us be better with having house.
But, we are don't know when the Bitcoin price will go up due to the Bitcoin value is volatile.

Actually we all know that today is the best time to buy bitcoin since Japan accepted it and adopted it. Next month Australia will also adopt bitcoin as a form of payment in exchange for goods and services in their country. Thus if we buy now we will experience more price spike and possibly it will hit by 3k or 5k $ by the end of the year. If you buy more bitcoins now then by next year you can buy a house.
3398  Economy / Economics / Re: Is America a failed nation? on: May 21, 2017, 10:53:38 AM
I don't think that America is a failed nation. You have to be more specific about the issue why you're calling it as a failure. America is still the strongest nation of the world, they are dominating every aspect of daily life.
So I don't agree with you on this point.

America is not a failed nation since it is still on the top of the financial system. But there are many obstacles that will somehow turn the world of America upside down and if they are not careful they will basically encounter and economic breakdown. But given the new president of the United States who is Trump an expert in economics and business surely these problems will be solved during his term.
3399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you save bitcoin for fun or for future purpose? on: May 21, 2017, 10:48:00 AM
At the moment I can't realy save the bitcoins but I'm trying to change that and from my perspective saving is for the need, for the future not for fun. Fun is spending bitcoins.  Grin If the price continues to go that way bitcoin savings have the nice future.

Well, everyone saves the money for future purpose and no one save if for Fun of course. I have a mixture of spending and saving bitcoins too. I spend which is absolute  necessary and rest i save it for my future. Saving bitcoins has double benefits as with the period of one or two years, you can find yourself in the list of millionaire if you have 3 to 4 bitcoins only.
I agree with you saving bitcoins for the future is the best rather than spending it on not necessary things and if you have a lot of bitcoin then keeping it is the best option for you because with just at least 3 bitcoins then you can easily be millionaire and if you are a good trader then multiplying that at least 3 bitcoins will be very easy.

The price of bitcoin today has just passed the Two Thousand DOllars marked price or value and it is still going up. If we do not save our bitcoins today then we cannot have a good profit by the end of the year. With the current trend I am changing my strategy and so 50% of my earnings will be keep for my savings and the other half will be used for my daily expense.
3400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Joke or what? sold crap coin on: May 21, 2017, 10:41:06 AM
I don't know whats happening there but i have listed 1 tbc for sale since months and i got a notification in my email today.. 1 tbc exchanged for 16 btc..

right now i am rich or what?

You are not rich, you can only be rich if somebody will buy your tbc at 16 btc. But even though the current value states 16 btc if there were nobody would exchange their btc to your tbc then you are still not rich. But I have heard a news that will make you happy soon they will launch a TBC fiat exchange and maybe by then you can convert your 1 tbc to cash.
