3381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transferwise Stop Taking BTC Transfers on: April 24, 2013, 08:48:54 PM
I liked this

The banks – just like everyone else in the sector – are nervous because they don't know what to think of Bitcoin. The regulators and politicians’ silence on the topic leaves us all in the dark.
3382  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Ozcoin Hacked on: April 24, 2013, 08:28:43 PM
Ok so let me get this straight, at any time any online service can just change their code that despite any address you select to send to their server just injects what ever address they wish.

This means no BTC on any wallet online usage is safe in any way. Basically any govt agency can require service to point all addresses at a collection address or no where.

Would it not have been possible for the "user" to get their private keys and then load them into qt-client, then use that to direct and strong coin could have done nothing to stop this!!!

Also as good practice when sending large amounts always send a test amount first just to check everything is ok.

I would like to see a online service where this can't be done. That must surely be the next step. As things stand for hosted transactions atm....

3383  Economy / Speculation / Re: YOU ARE HERE on: April 24, 2013, 02:20:31 PM
Since everybody is so fond of this picture on downturns.

institutional investors have not even touched BTC nor would they at this point

5 - 10T....which isn't that much in the scheme of things

The annual GDP of the entire world is 70T. Nope, not much at all.

um, yeah, nah that's not how it works, forex alone is  1460T a year , 4T a day, Combined GDP is zip of SFA. You have to remember value by previous years also

here a pic (except we are 15 pixels now)

That's trade volume. That's like saying a businesses' turnover is how much it is making. You didn't include the 1.2 quadrillion derivatives market I notice.

In the same way as market cap does not represent the whole value if you sell right back

3386  Economy / Speculation / Re: can BTC ever return to significantly below $100? on: April 24, 2013, 01:33:59 PM
Yes, it can (and on a long enough time scale, will) fall below $100. The question is when.

yes well sun exploding and all may do it.....your right
3387  Economy / Speculation / Re: How long to break through 150 on: April 24, 2013, 01:29:04 PM

Looks like you have proven this statement on the www.strongcoin.com page is a lie:
"neither we nor anyone else can spend your Bitcoins. Only you. "
No, that claim is correct, the thief did spend his own coins.  He just didn't realize he was sending them to dogisland Smiley

how did he not realize this....?
3389  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Ozcoin Pooled Mining |DGM 1%|PoT 2%|PPS 3%|Stratum+VarDiff port 80 on: April 24, 2013, 01:19:03 PM
Public Disclosure.

On Saturday afternoon I was notified that Strongcoin was holding 568 BTC believed to be from the Ozcoin theft. Everytime you make a payment from StrongCoin the fee goes to 1STRonGxnFTeJiA7pgyneKknR29AwBM77 so any payments from strongcoin held accounts are easily traced back to the site.

I was asked by 2 separate people on this forum if I could hold the funds (Sorry to the people I didn't reply to). The evidence that these funds came from the heist seemed plausible to me.

At 8am yesterday morning the funds were intercepted when the user made a payment.

https://blockchain.info/address/1DsFCAZaxhJ9YGw5X8NCW9VkSMDZMyXzMF

I've spoken to the user in question over email. The user says he sold a car for BTC but can't reveal who to due to an NDA agreement.

Graeme and I had a conversation over the phone and some evidence came to light, that to me, made it very likely the user I have contact with was connected to the heist. I'm not going to reveal any details of the user accept to legal authorities if asked. I believe we should abide by due process.

I have sent a link to this post to the user so he/she can comment. Otherwise in the next few hours I will return the funds to Graeme, he can then decide what happens to those funds.

I agree 100% Graet should get his money back....

How exactly did you intercept BTC though given your websites claim that you do not hold any access to private keys of addresses you host....Huh??

Can you clear this up....Huh??

also what do you understand as due process?
3390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: who's the biggest *REP* Zhou, Nefario....TRC DEV......???? on: April 24, 2013, 12:43:06 PM
What is a TRC Dev?

TerraCoin DEV....stated by official email they were shutting down the coin, stop trading...the end....*cough*.....waited 24 hours to reveal a programer had gone awol on them....hijacked github etc etc....

FUD'd there own coin.....also suspect pet ASICS and BTC-e in the mix
3391  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yawn goes through 150, 50/100 were exciting....$1000 next time it gets fun on: April 24, 2013, 12:17:32 PM

we may be seeing a time compression events on a scales that has not occurred before.

We saw something similar in bank and airline stocks in 2008-2009. The market is based on a) raw emotion and b) available funds. That seems to be it and that's a great recipe for volatility.

if we get to 100K 200K in 5 years and it stabilizes...we will have rewritten the books

A price that high under supporting volume is simply not possible. BTC would have to become the economic vehicle of half the world to attain a price like that.

watch this space

it appeared to me it would only need to be worth 5 - 10T....which isn't that much in the scheme of things

in fact the bigger it gets it actually becomes useful to large companies/investors and banks
3392  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yawn goes through 150, 50/100 were exciting....$1000 next time it gets fun on: April 24, 2013, 12:03:52 PM

3393  Economy / Speculation / Yawn goes through 150, 50/100 were exciting....$1000 4 next fun time on: April 24, 2013, 12:00:46 PM
Sort of become passe....now as it has been to 260 plus...remeber when if it would go through 50 or 100 was exciting

It's only going to get hyped again/pumped in here when we go to 1000, then 10,000, 10000K or 10, 1, 0.1. 0.01 (imagine what you could buy up)

I confess I miss the adrenaline rush

However I think that there are few graph like this recovery graph before, and defn if it i can top out at about 600 before next crash....it will be close to rewriting the books...unfortunately....people will see recovery ability and may not sell out so easily....and so less chances for cheap coins....we can only hope for waves and waves of easily spooked noobs

we may be seeing a time compression events on a scales that has not occurred before.

I really think analysis's in their usual markets are going to have to stand back, slack jawed as they see the incomprehensible to happen before them.
3394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IXCOIN....recent activity over at Vircurex on: April 24, 2013, 08:19:04 AM
Just wondering, this is apparently a scam coin and was going to get det listed by Vircurex, but apparently that was an error and is still listed....then recently it apears more active what gives....why hasn't it died yet....

Scamcoin? Where ever do you get that?

3395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IXCOIN....(scamcoin) but recent activity over at Vircurex on: April 24, 2013, 08:01:40 AM
Huh? This is one of the longest-lasting and highest-difficulty SHA256 altcoins, when did it suddenly become a scam? Likely more people own some of these than of any other altcoin except namecoin.

-MarkM-

Sorry my mistake I misread something it seems about a premine....
glad you could put me to rights

however why was it going to be delisted??? also seems active last few days...!!!

any changes anyone knows a bout
3396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcurrency interest index on: April 24, 2013, 07:24:04 AM
No PPC??? Wow

yeah very few people undestand PPC atm....to much effort....think of PPC being at where BTC was three years ago....

PPC uses a host of unique and novel features, that the proof of work models may have to emulate....makeing PPC the new BTC

I would not be surprised to see PPC  go to parity or above BTC.

For one people haven't cottoned on that there are almost no coins being minted now if I am reading the graphs right

3397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / IXCOIN....recent activity over at Vircurex on: April 24, 2013, 07:20:43 AM
Just wondering, this Coin was apparently  going to get de listed by Vircurex, but then VirCurex came out and said that was an error and is still listed....then recently it appears more active what gives....

Edit::sorry my mistake I misread something some where???

I am at fault and have revised

however my question stands why was it going to be delisted at VirCurEx then not....why did that all come about

how is its health....

why the sudden burst of activity on Vircurex?Huh

3398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: who's the biggest *REP* Zhou, Nefario....TRC DEV......Satoshi???? on: April 24, 2013, 07:17:59 AM
I can't see Satoshi on that list.

I vote Satoshi, no one is at all comparable.

yeah thought about this Satoshi is to obvious a win...so took it out
3399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: who's the biggest *REP* Zhou, Nefario....TRC DEV......Satoshi???? on: April 24, 2013, 05:47:57 AM
who has the biggest *Rep*.. (interprit this as you will).... rightly or wrongly.
Care to translate this? what is Rep?

'notoriety'
'scammer'
'ledgend'

aren't they all the same?

as Oscar Wilde said the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.
3400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins.info - What to do on: April 24, 2013, 05:34:34 AM
All this debate over what should be on Bitcoin.org has lead to suggestions that new web site be set up that includes a larger circle of contacts than Bitcoin.org can provide.

I just took over Bitcoins.info so I am going to do that.  If anyone has suggestions send them along.  Video clips, press releases, company descriptions, press contacts, etc.

Just get KHAN of khan accedmy to do some videos, the end, smart guy, pretty unbiased, huge reach...Q>E>D
