Well we are trying to promo sidehacks products. Have some fun and find a place in the btc world for basically anyone.

25-50 bucks for some sticks and very low power use kind of lets you into the world.
33962  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 240v plugs and phases on: November 25, 2015, 04:01:47 AM
ok anyone have any idea where i can get a converter plug for that for a 50amp pdu or where i can get the 50amp intelligent pdu from?

driving myself nuts with google

Be extremely careful if that is really 50 amp... that can kill.  When I did my mining area I shut power to my area off.  If your like my house outside your able to shut down the power.  Mine has 200 going to house, 100 going to mining area.

I always turned it off checked mains.  I also used quality tools that were non conductive.  Even overboard on meter I'm using a fluke.  240 scares me and I treat it with the utmost respect.

On PDU has anyone in here used a 50 amp PDU that seems like a ton going through it?

it can do  8 or 9 s-7's.  I never used one that big.

I do have 2x  30 amp circuits  more then I need .  The wife is not going to let me run 11kwatts between the two.

I also would not be able to cool the house off.

today is about 6.5%

147 blocks in the time we should make 138

Today only ended up being +7% but after all the difficulty already adjusted yesterday by 10% so I guess +7% still is considered high.

I like 5 or less myself.  I did most of my ROI at 5 as high side..... but it might be changing and I might need to chance some excel sheets I have.  Kinda using this week as another idication if it slowing down or if it continues.

Worst case is Bitmain, Avalon, and Bitfury are all currently pumping out gear.  Not sure if that is happening or true.   But there are still some like SP-50 and that B-11 I think it is that I don't think we have seen.  So it could be even worse I guess.

Good news is we were pretty low for a long time, so a few high ones will not kill my ROI.  But if it becomes normal it's sure going to hurt my bottom line.
if you count the last diff jump 3 straight 10+ would get us to 88 bill diff that would make up for the price jump from 235 to 325. I do not rule it out. The builders of gear can simply lower prices a little at a time and I think people will buy into it.

I max at  6kwatts or 2 s-7's and 4 avalon 6's .  more due to heat issues then any other reason
33964  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 240v plugs and phases on: November 24, 2015, 11:34:05 PM
Check these voltages on your plug and see if your close.

But either way this will not determine if it's 3 phase, but even if it is it's safe to use with the other plug and mine.

yeah that diagram is the answer to op's question..

I wanted him to measure since I have had 3 prong plugs with 3 hot wires and a hidden illegal ground.

33965  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d on: November 24, 2015, 11:05:39 PM
this would make the gear better then the s-7

In what way?  I've been pretty disappointed with mine so far to be honest.  The only advantage seems to be the sound, and my S7 would be silent as well if I was willing to run it at the temps the Avalon6 runs at.  My S7 is at 58 degrees sitting next to an Avalon that is 74 degrees.  Not sure that exactly counts as being quieter...  I worry about the lifespan of a miner running in the mid 70's.

if the avalon 6 smart speed is disabled and the gear runs at 10.5 volts with freq 400-420 it would be better then the s-7. as it would do under .2 watts a gh.

if it does not run with smart speed disabled  it won't be better then the s-7

hello all,

I made a spreadsheet with the pool info:
http://poolmonitor.cryptoglance.info/
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1P7QPr7ZnFceNouzyFTiRuKNEjFySCX45o3i8__UDSe4/edit?usp=sharing

It's accessible read only + comments.

I will try to update it everyday with the previous day share info.

I think that the interesting column is the last one, with the % of shares found for each worker.

1st sheet is the data with sums and %
2nd sheet is a graphical view /day

Good work buddy Smiley.

Thank you, took me about 45mn.

There's also 2 columns with potential BTC gain depending if part A has been completed or not.
Note that the formula doesn't count for 48h without share, but 2 days over the period (non consecutive), so this is not realistic...
I'll try to tune it tomorrow Smiley

i am a bit too groggy from meds too understand the chart, but looks like it has good info.

i know we put a bump on sticks with down time. and  not shares.

i think we said you can turn sticks back on.

let me nap til i make some snse again.

sent a pm to cryptoglance.

Thanks Philip (and crypto when you get to it!).  My address is correct.

Hopefully the tooth repair goes well (the wife is in the dental field).  Broken teeth are no fun!

tooth is now good i am waiting for drugs to wear off
33969  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Israeli Bitcoin Conference November 25, 2015 - "Bitcoin and Beyond" on: November 24, 2015, 05:52:41 PM
On November 25, 2015 we will be holding the annual conference of the Israeli Bitcoin Association, covering all aspects of Bitcoin and the Blockchain technology.

The talks will be given in Hebrew and range from economics, law and politics to technology, entrepreneurship and research. The conference will also feature an exhibit hall and plenty of networking opportunity.

Details at http://www.meetup.com/bitcoin-il/events/226535373/ and conference@bitcoin.org.il.

This is more of an FYI - the conference is local and most readers here are not the target audience.

Thanks for the info, while  I won't be attending it is still good to know about  BTC events around the world.
33970  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Network just jumped up 100 petahashes!!! on: November 24, 2015, 05:46:29 PM
Wasn't there a guy running a long-term betting site?  You could bet on BTC price/difficulty at some point in the future... I swear I remember that.

Would be kind of fun... the long-term speculation thread.  Where do you think difficulty and price will be by year end?  By the end of Q1 next year?  Predict the date/time of the halving... all kinds of fun things you can speculate and bet on Smiley.

yeah  when diff  jumps used to be 10% or more I guy would piggyback on my thread a bit.    but when diff  jumps got lower  he stopped as over under was too easy.

I know I knocked heads with op with diff on my threads last week but in a calmer moment I went back and read everything we said.  I decided I was wrong and misread him.

I think his point is peak numbers have more meaning then you may believe and once a peak is hit  the network will reach that as  a norm in the future.

He could be correct and maybe his 606 hashmark or around 92 diff will come faster then I would have thought.
33971  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Gauging interest in a S5+ / 3xS7 specific power supply breakout board on: November 24, 2015, 05:44:03 PM
hey what is power swing volt wise?

the avalon 6's could be a better fit with this the the s-7's   or are you only 12 volts and higher?

33972  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d on: November 24, 2015, 05:40:30 PM
i heard that a new firmware is in the works which fixes the smartspeed issue

good so for now I will mine at freq 480  and wait for the fix.

this would make the gear better then the s-7

I believe  there is a psu board for a server psu that will allow for a nice big voltage spread.  Maybe Finksy is the Western hemisphere seller.

Follow up on under volt. The gear will run as low as 9.6 volts .

The problem is smart speed it comes enabled so  no matter what you set volts at smart speed  lowers the hash rate to make no hardware errors.

Some one with good ssh skills will need to get in and figure out how to turn off smart speed.

the gear does over clock if you set your psu to 13 volts it does over 4000gh

Thanks for sharing!  What does watts used look like when hitting 4000 GH, that is a decent OC from 3.5.

That is a 14 percent overclock.  So better then a lot of machines as far as OC with your nice PSU.

13 volts let me do 4000gh  all via smartspeed  which means  it overrides the 500 freq max.
33974  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 240v plugs and phases on: November 24, 2015, 04:07:18 PM
while you are lurking, what should i set the meter too so we are not freaking out.
ac voltage

Then you can take measurements of the voltages in the three holes.

If you are single phase when you do hot to hot you should get 240

When you do hot to ground 120

I will demo on a 240 socket in my house
33975  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 240v plugs and phases on: November 24, 2015, 03:19:15 PM
one is the 30amp plug yes you are right while the other is a 50amp stove. Both of these are on a 200amp box

can we get a few more reputable accounts to verify this? I want to be sure they are single phase and it is okay to proceed without fear of damage etc.

Lastly I need a converter plug for that triangular stove outlet to some type of pdu. Obviously it would be best if the pdu was rated at 50amps so I can cover the entire stove outlet.

I already have a conversion plug for the dryerplug to tripplite pdu. But now i need a conversion for the stove plug.

God Bless USA

that is why you need that meter.  and why until you show me you have one I won't offer advice.  I don't want you to die or blow your gear up.

I also know you need to wire the plug or the socket so that they match each other.  Without a meter you are working in the dark.  They meter will let you determine phase and correct wiring pattern.

i use a grid tied solar system to power my miners(no batteries). generating about 400kwh's per day with solar energy.

i have seen this setup and may do a small farm with you.
33979  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Avalon 6's are in undervolt + down clock results. on: November 24, 2015, 05:01:35 AM
Thanks Phillip! Looks like the results weren't as expected but glad you are still trying!

ahh I got tired setting them up.  Then I broke a tooth eating dinner so off to the dentist on tues.

To be able to fully ssh and find the file  for smart speed  then disable it..

then try freq 400 with 11 volts is the goal.

And it looks like black friday or later before I know for sure.

right now I am running with 2 seasonic plats. at freq 480
