341  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dropping like a stone on: March 18, 2017, 01:57:39 PM
I would not call a less than 15 % drop dropping like a stone, people are just worried about the hard fork more than the etf rejection. With many exchanges agreeing to put the hard fork btu under its own ticker separated from btc as they forsee equal support for both tickers much like eth and etc. I for one am going to wait this storm out by doing nothing.
342  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: whether bitcoin mining with a half day pc while it is still profitable? on: March 18, 2017, 10:24:48 AM
Please for the last time.. ever since ASICs were introduced, bitcoin mining has not been profitable for new miners or beginners, the only guys still profiting are those with hardware that either already roied and are still working or big farms (who have mostly or actually all transfered over to using ASICs..) The time for profitable new altcoins is also pretty much over. And please, learn to articulate yourself in english so we can actually understand you better.
343  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: did you place all your funds into bitcoin? on: March 18, 2017, 10:16:43 AM
Well I have only 20% of my investments in bitcoins, the rest go towards exchange traded funds in which many famous investors swear by if you are someone like me who is ok with letting others manage funds for you. Have not really been disappointed by etfs so far. Used to dabble in altcoins, stopped ever since dogecoin, was fun while it lasted though
344  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase won't let me verify my debit card on: March 18, 2017, 05:50:01 AM
Are you sure you entered the correct pricing? Are you sure you entered the correct card number?

Coinbase may deduct $1 USD for verification for example which may show up as some other amount in your local currency.

345  Economy / Economics / Re: Are the Winklevoss twins selling off their Bitcoin stash? on: March 18, 2017, 05:47:39 AM
If you are one of them why would you even dump it in the first place? Be it success or failure, there are many more ways and countries to achieve what they want, even more mainstream investors for cryptos in general. If they really dump btcs because of one small rejection, it would rather proof that the rejection is a good thing as they merely want to make a quick flip and are not serious about what they say.

Bitcoin prices have never been stabled until recently, there are many factors attributing to the small decrease in pricing these two days which may continue for a week or two, however, the winklevoss etf rejection is pretty much a non factor imo
346  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-03-18] Which Majority? Bitcoin Exchange Accord Reveals Hard Fork Dilemma on: March 18, 2017, 04:30:56 AM
A newly released statement from major exchanges today may have stoked tensions in the ongoing bitcoin scaling debate – but it also revealed more about how the confrontation is becoming increasingly complex.

Today, nearly 20 exchanges announced that, should a certain developer group take actions that would split the bitcoin blockchain into two competing networks, the network running software developed by Bitcoin Core would retain the ticker symbol ‘BTC’. Bitcoin Unlimited, the alternative option, would then be advertised as ‘BTU’.

Ostensively aimed at preventing customer confusion, the move has already been highly politicized, with some supporters of the Bitcoin Core development team heralding it as the effective end of the Unlimited project and its particular proposal for redrafting bitcoin’s rules.

"Mining pools may signal Bitcoin Unlimited, but this letter makes it crystal clear that the economy won't accept it – the best outcome they can hope for is to have their BTU token listed," former BTCC COO Samson Mow alleged in a statement.

However, to exchange officials, the move is designed not to provoke, but to be forward-thinking in how it safeguards user funds. (A key component of the messaging is that to list the alternative, the exchanges would require a guarantee that users would be protected from attacks).

Further, major exchange representatives are saying that the statement does not mean that they intend to act as decision-makers. Rather, it's that they’re open to having the market naturally settle the issue.

Nice to see a well categorised list of giveaways and faucets among other useful links inside, as christbin has mentioned, I am pretty sure spam is going to be a real problem once your site increases in popularity, what have you in mind to stamp them out?
348  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-03-17]Analyst: A Bitcoin ETF Stands No Chance Chance with SEC Committed to on: March 18, 2017, 02:20:50 AM
There are many countries where their ETF might be able to come into fruition. In Singapore, there are already heaps of fintech applications, being one of the best places in the world to do business too, I am sure they might find Singapore to be a suitable candidate if they do some research and they are in it for real.
349  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: can I make 100$ in 2-3 month without a base money? on: March 17, 2017, 02:21:57 PM
I've seen many people here say that it is possible if you have a certain skill especially programming/web design.
Alright, let's put this in a programmer's perspective:

I am a programmer. I make websites and stuff. I may have a full-time work. Or maybe part-time. Or maybe I am a freelancer.
I may have 5 years of experience or maybe no experience in the real world. Eventually I learned about bitcoin. Now I want to use my skills to earn. The question is, how can I make my prospect clients believe that I am an experienced developer?
Even making a portfolio would cost me around $5 do get a domain for one year, web hosting not included.

So the answer is no. You have to at least invest something in order to earn something. That's a real life advice for ya.

On the flipside, it is possible to make $100 even in a day if you are lucky with gambling. But you also need to have a base money.
One way or another, you need money to start with.

But getting a domain can usually cost only a dollar, hosting is pretty much free with heroku, bluemix and the likes of which I pretty much host most of my portfolio sites, its a given that they would not be suitable for large sites but for personal projects and for clients to view only they are more than enough. Pretty much every awesome service has a free option.

OP can pretty much make 100$ in a month on the side doing nothing but simply finding bargains at thrift shops and reselling them on ebay.

When there is a will there is a way.

Although I have to agree that to get something, something must be invested in return.
350  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why different exchange markets have different prices on: March 17, 2017, 02:17:25 PM
i tottally get the second part of your message, but i am not sure why it would not be profitable to switch markets
For example moving bitcoin from 1 wallet to other is free, then selling for 1135 sounds way better then for 1070 and buying the same in opposite dirrection.
What do you mean exactly by not being profitable? That is the part i did not fully understood.
Maybe a short mathematical example would help
Like el kaka mentioned, some people do this kind of trading to get profits from the margins quickly, however, buying and selling may incur different fees, add the withdrawal fee and the volatility of the prices to +-100 in short periods of time, by the time you transfer the what you bought from A to B, there are occasional periods where the price at the higher price point would have stabilized. Also probably why people convert to altcoins before hand for even more drastic profit margins
351  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-03-16] Coinbase To Verify Your ID With Live Webcam – Bail Now From... on: March 17, 2017, 12:06:25 PM
I have been a coinbase supporter from the start, however, with them implementing more and more id requests and becoming more centralized, I am starting to wonder what will happen to coin base one day in the near future. Unfortunately, coinbase seems to be an easy and safe way to buy and sell bitcoins if one is already verified in the past... Time for me to start looking for other places with similar functionality soon Sad
352  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: earnfreebitcoins.net on: March 17, 2017, 12:01:23 PM
So instead of putting the relevant information inside the subject header? You choose to publicize said website instead?

Not sure if you are using reverse psychology or whatsoever, for all we know you own the site, try harder next time.

353  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EU Parliament approves call to free De Lima on: March 17, 2017, 11:58:58 AM
One does not simply interfere in the politics or government of another sovereign country. At best all they can do is recommend or urge the government to release de lima, they cannot call for another government to do so, even if they did that, it does not matter and it will probably make matters worse.
354  Other / Politics & Society / Re: President Trumps Budget: Lets make the military great again on: March 17, 2017, 10:09:19 AM
Have you seen his chief strategist Steve Bannon? If you have seen his documentary films. You would be surprised and cynical on why Trump even hired him in the first place. He would probably just suggest to trump to max out the budget allocated to military expenditure and ignore the sciences research. Heck, all the previous measures to counteract global warming and coal usage are already pulled back because apparently global warming is fake.
355  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to develop a program to solve bitcoin on: March 17, 2017, 09:58:52 AM
It is not hard to find resources on the math behind bitcoin. Do you really know how bitcoin works in general? The cryptography it uses, the pros and the cons on what makes it a good p2p system + currency?

356  Economy / Lending / Re: newbie here need loan .01 btc (no collateral) on: March 17, 2017, 09:56:03 AM
Sorry to repeat the same old thing you probably already know. 0.1BTC is almost 100USD.

It is not possible to have access to a computer and internet without anything to contribute for collateral, why don't you offer the device you used to post this as collateral?

Your mobile phone?

You are a newbie, and a pretty new one at that, give us good reasons why we should even loan you that amount?

Don't even try to give us the same old reasons. And I checked the site you mentioned, seemed super fishy to me too.
357  Economy / Gambling / Re: Monthly Best Gambling Site (March 2017) on: March 17, 2017, 09:51:03 AM
Bitsler, Primedice and 777. The only three sites I have actually tried. They have good ui, fast response and if you have any trouble, the support people are ridiculously fast too~
358  Economy / Speculation / Re: It going to hurt..! drop back under 1000$ on: March 17, 2017, 09:30:00 AM
What happened in the price... Sadly it dump from 1250$ to 1054$ and also my favorite coin Etherum and Dash dumps, the last i see the price of ETH is 0.044BTC but now it is 0.039BTC and Dash also from 0.08BTC to 0.076BTC what a lovely dump to all coins

Hoping the bitcoin price goes up and back again in 1250$

As long as there is demand, the price will slowly go up. Difficulty is still pretty darn high and people are still hoarding most of the supply instead of circulating it. It may be a small slope downwards into the 900s before climbing back up again, don't worry, if you are here for the long run, it won't matter
359  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why different exchange markets have different prices on: March 17, 2017, 09:26:06 AM
Well there are many factors to factor in when it comes to the prices on the different exchanges.

Given the transaction fees + the fees implemented by the different exchanges, it would usually not be profitable to buy at the cheap end and sell at the expensive end. Time is an issue.

In addition, some traders favor specific exchanges as they have a vested interest or holding on there, you also need to take into account, bots, automated traders, and even time zone differences from different countries.

The only thing that is certain that between the major exchanges, the price of btc in usd will usually fluctuate between 1-15% based on many factors, most of which i have listed above.
360  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: HODL.voting – time-locked voting for provable bitcoin hodlers on: March 17, 2017, 09:20:52 AM
Seems like a pretty well designed system. It might be a good idea to rename your op though as people might mistake it for HODL coin instead of bitcoin. I am sure there are large number of btc hodlers, not sure if they would be willing to try this though.
