341  Economy / Speculation / Re: The price of bitcoin and where it's headed on: August 26, 2017, 07:30:05 AM
It will go up as more and more people become interested at which point it will eventually stabilize (hopefully). There is also the chance it could collapse. This would make me sad. I hope it goes up. It will probably be a rocky ride along the way though. There will probably be another fork in November or so I've read. Before the fork I expect it to go down. A few days after the fork like 4 or 5 days I predict the price will skyrocket again. This would be great!
342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig W. only claims to be Satoshi, because he knows the real Satoshi is dead? on: August 24, 2017, 10:34:52 AM
It seems like a whole lot of people think Satoshi is dead. I don't think we should jump to this conclusion. I think it is more likely that Satoshi is alive.

It is interesting that Satoshi in his posts seem very friendly, polite, patient and likeable in his messages. Craig Wright on the other hand seems cold, bitter, arrogant, and angry in person. In one of the Satoshi emails, Satoshi uses the euro as an example for transaction. This leads me to believe the real Satoshi is from a European country. Also in a post he uses an expression about "eating crow", which is supposedly an American expression, but I have a feeling that it may be European for some reason. Either way it isn't Australian that's for sure.

Craig would not need to wait for Satoshi to be dead to make the claims. His claim is ridiculous and for some weird reason, there is a group of people gullible enough to believe him. Satoshi probably didn't denounce him, because it isn't worth it. Satoshi isn't going to give Craig the honor of being denounced. It already is obvious.

Interesting thoughts on Gavin lying. Who knows what kind of blackmail he could be facing. Maybe he did something really fucked up and Craig is using that as leverage against Gavin.

Hah, another theory for thought. What if Craig really is Satoshi and he was worried people were figuring it out somehow. As a result he purposely came out in the open and tried to do a bad job at convincing everyone. Like a reverse psychology thing. Seems pretty far fetched though.

I'm confident that Craig is not Satoshi, but if he is and can prove that he is, I'll gladly eat crow.   Grin
343  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price of 1 Satoshi rise to $1? on: August 24, 2017, 09:41:13 AM
I think a Satoshi being worth $1 is ridiculous. 1 BTC would be worth 100 million dollars! That is pure wishful thinking and isn't practical. Someone with 2,000 BTC would be way richer than Bill Gates is right now.
344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Which do you view more favorably, BTC or BCH? on: August 24, 2017, 09:35:33 AM
Post below to explain your reasoning. I'm deciding whether I want to sell most of my BCH or whether I should keep it 50/50 for both. I'm leaning on selling BCH, but maybe some people here can convince me otherwise.

Listen to this guy please, because we need more people to panic for the price to go much lower. The people who has been around for a long time, know what this means : Cheap Cheap Cheap Coins !!!!

The lower it goes, the more we can buy and the bigger our profits are when it goes up again. A mini dump/crash like this, usually indicate that a breakout is around the corner. This dump is not backed by any significant event, so it is pure market manipulation. < Sharks playing with the markets >

The lower it goes the longer it will take to go back up though. Also if people are fearful enough of Bitcoin then it would collapse due to no practical use. For example, if I had all the money in the world it would be useless. Since I'm the only one who has it, everyone else just neglects the system and uses something else.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So I have BCC and BTC or what? on: August 22, 2017, 05:32:30 AM
Woohoo! I checked it out on Blockdozer.com. My BCH is there! I'm so happy now. EEek!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I bought Bitcoin a couple weeks before the hard fork and moved it to a paper wallet, because I thought Bitcoin would go up. Little did I know that I would receive free BCH. So now all I have to figure out is how to sell/moving/use it in a safe and secure manner.

It is crazy to think about all those hours slaving away at work and making money and I pretty much just made 4 months of that by buying bitcoin before the hard fork... Of course if it all comes crashing to 0 then that would be a huge disappointment. But for now, I am overjoyed.
348  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin has soared to new Heights , Now the Crash is starting , R U READY????? on: August 22, 2017, 04:55:26 AM
If we sell now all the ladies will swarm us while we are wealthy in suits.  Grin

...Or we can wait for Bitcoin to go up even more in a couple of years.

I'm not very good at timing the market so for the most part, so I just hold.
349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / So I have BCC and BTC or what? on: August 21, 2017, 12:37:12 AM
Since the hard fork happened do I now have BCC and BTC? Are they both the same coin and I have a choice which one I want and there is a limited time? For awhile I thought that I have BTC and can transfer it over to BCC for a limited time or something like that. After doing some reading though it looks like I have the same amount of BCC as I do BTC and somehow they are stored separately. If it is the later I'd like to figure out how to see this. I'm kind of confused though so help me Bitcoin Community. Help me. Huh
350  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN affect in WWIII (WORLD WAR 3) on: August 15, 2017, 10:03:03 AM
I believe a world war would not make the price move up or down, but would probably affect the volatility. People will be more focused on current events instead of investments. It also may delay the surge in bitcoin. This is all speculation of course.

352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How do you send Bitcoin without using an exchange? on: August 13, 2017, 09:51:56 AM
The only way I know how to send Bitcoin is through an exchange. How would I do this from one computer to another without using a third party. Is this even possible?

If we were passed over does that mean we failed to get in or is there still the possibility of being chosen later on?
354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is outperforming everything and Japan is the lead on: August 13, 2017, 09:11:05 AM
46 percent? That's an insane amount of volume they're pushing through their exchanges, what in the hell is pushing that kind of demand within Japan? Is it just speculation or is the Bitcoin economy really that alive within the asian island?

46% is too small, it should be at least 70% Grin
have you forgotten that Japan is the first and biggest country that has officially adopted bitcoin?
i dare say it is the only country that has legally announced bitcoin is a "legal method of payment". that alone shoots the adoption and consequently the volume and price high.

on top of it all, Japan has the biggest Forex broker in the whole world according to statistics of last year. that Forex broker has added bitcoin to their platform.
read about it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1941988.0
3 months ago i speculated this will have a huge effect on bitcoin price.

Does that mean Japan has the most owned bitcoins all over the world? If it's true then it will make their country more richer. This is a big step and smart choice at the same time.

well, higher volume only means there is a lot of trades on their exchanges. that is what the source reports. that doesn't necessarily mean the people in Japan "own" more bitcoin.

but also at the same time, as i said above the fact that this country has legalized bitcoin as a "legal method of payment" and also using bitcoin as payment has 0 taxes means a lot of people will buy and own bitcoin just to use it as payment. and there are already about 300,000 merchants there reported to be accepting bitcoin, tax free. that is a big distribution of bitcoin over the country. and helps the growth a lot.

0% tax huh. No wonder the Japanese crowd is diving in. Not to mention the legalization of bitcoin in Japan months ago. Good for them. Meanwhile in the United States.. people need to use capital gain or loss tax treatment on sales and exchanges, correct me if I'm wrong, but if I remember correctly the capital gains tax percentage in the United States can go up to 35%? I feel so sorry for the American crowd.

There are long term capital gains tax (assets held for longer than a year) and short term capital gains tax (assets held for less than a year). It can go as high as 39.6% for short term and 25% for long term. That is for the very wealthy though. Most people will be in a much lower bracket. I am in a very low bracket. 15% for short term capital gains. 0% for long term gains.
355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: keep calm and buy the dips... on: August 13, 2017, 08:29:29 AM
Turns out OP you were right. I had sold a small portion of my bitcoin at $3,400 to try out my trading skills. Since the price rose so quickly I assumed it was on a bubble and would pop. After frustratingly see it go up and up I rebought at $3,800 and just accepted the loss... well now it is a gain though, because it went up past $4000 a couple days later. Cheesy
356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Erosion... thoughts? on: August 11, 2017, 06:18:38 AM
Bitcoin does not inflate since there is a fixed amount in existence. However, currency that deflates is dangerous because then you end up with a bunch of people hording that currency. People think "If my currency is worth more tomorrow than it is today then why spend it?". Once Bitcoin hits mainstream it could enter a similar state. Actually it kind of already has happened. Eventually, some time down the road, all 21 million Bitcoins will be mined. Once it is mainstream, Bitcoin will reach a state of equilibrium where it has a stable value.

Over time, the number of Bitcoin in circulation will shrink. People will lose their keys and those Bitcoins will be lost forever. This makes the supply go down and the demand go up. Since the demand increases nobody chooses to spend it. That is where Bitcoin Erosion comes into play.

Bitcoin Erosion could keep bitcoin circulating. What it does is it puts a fixed portion of the bitcoin of every address back into a mining state. For example, lets say you have 1,000 BTC. Bitcoin erosion happens and now you only have 999 BTC. The other Bitcoin has reentered the mining state where it can be mined again.

Because of Bitcoin Erosion people will have incentive to spend the currency. Nobody ever likes to hold onto something that will go down in value over time, but as long as it is at a lower rate than the dollar or other currencies it will still be more valuable than that. In other words, Bitcoin erosion makes Bitcoin lose more value than the goods or services you are purchasing over a long period of time in order to give incentive to spend, but not more than any other currency so that it becomes the most popular and used currency out there.

Another thing about Bitcoin Erosion is that it would be fixed. People like things expected. A fixed rate of erosion makes it easier for people to plan their future.

Maybe this is a terrible idea. Maybe it is a good one. I thought it would be interesting for discussion nevertheless.
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scammers have stolen my money on: August 11, 2017, 05:57:30 AM
The YouTube account was used by a person with a computer who has an IP address. If you contact YouTube you may be able to discover their identity. Chances are they are in a foreign country out of jurisdiction though. Sad

YouTube is owned by Google and Google pretty much sees all so you can at least try. Chances are slim though unfortunately.
358  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 4000$ !! on: August 10, 2017, 09:06:29 AM
Well it certainly is possible. I'm hoping that it dips a little before that though, because I tried a little experiment. My gut is telling me that I may have made a mistake though, because it may shoot up in a couple of days. I want it to go back down to $3100 and lock in a profit.
359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Does this campaign make me a bitch? on: August 10, 2017, 08:48:58 AM
So I applied for this dimcoin campaign thing on one of the forums. They haven't accepted me yet, but I used their code in my signature so that they will accept me. Does this make me their bitch or is this a good idea?

On one thought, I am being generous and going above and beyond. They won't have to wait for me to read that I've made it on the list to begin. It is convenient for them because they basically get free advertising.  Cheesy

On the other hand, yeah... I feel like a bitch. They may think "haha, what a sucker. We don't have to add him to the campaign since he'll do it for us for free while we get another Jr. Member."  Sad

I'm torn Bitcoin community. Please help.  Undecided

Please accept me dimcoin-advertisement people. Please! I desperately want $6ish or more per week in Bitcoin.  Kiss
360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: keep calm and buy the dips... on: August 10, 2017, 08:17:30 AM
I don't understand why you are saying it is in a dip right now. It is pretty much the highest it has ever been! It just went up over 20% last week and you don't think another dip is possible?
