Guys.! Technically bitmit cannot be treated as escrow as the 3rd party that you will be using is not capable of making their own judgement unless you contact their support and raise a dispute which is a laborious process.
Basically, the escrow account is literally held and controlled by the seller or the buyer on bitmit which has the risks of the person holding the account absconding / not releasing the escrow during the transaction.

My Advise : Use a trusted human from this forum as a Escrow who is capable of making suitable judgement on his own in the event if any dispute arises.

Sup man! I am from Virginia Tech. I am not close to NYC to meet up in person. Trying to get my roommates to pool money together and start a Block Erupter mining rig. I am not sure how it will go, if I cannot convince them..I will have to back out and buy what I can afford on my own (with whatever BTC I already have).

Check your PM for my FB link. Feel free to add me  Smiley

P.S: darn rules against newbies....cannot send it  for 6 minutes.

oh nice. Virginia is not that far but ofcourse its hard for us to meetup in person.
PM'd you my email address.

I recently ( a few hours ago) discovered that I can mine other coins and change it back to Bitcoins in BTC-e or Crypt and make more profit.  But it seems that most of those profitable crypto currencies are scrypt based and Terracoin (the only other SHA 256 based currency I saw)  is less profitable than BTC atm.

But I see what you are getting at though - things change and BTC itself  looks bullish and it may reach  $200 - $250 very soon.

PPcoin is another coin which is slightly profitable than btc. Terracoin was profitable than btc but recently it was under 51% network attack and time wrap attack. Hence it is recouping slowly.

Have a look at coinchoose.com and decide. Note that these change often.

How does this work when exchanging with someone from US (I am a desi too). It takes over 7 days for me to get anything through Coinbase. I would rather not wait for that.

I might have to use your services. You seem like someone people trust in the forums.

Hey Dumbo - Welcome to bitcointalk. Yes. It does take like a week for the btc to be available when purchased through coinbase.
I will be happy to sell btc to you. I have verified accounts in most of the exchanges.
I live in New York. if you are from around, then we can meetup in some public place and deal in cash, else i do accept Bank Of america, Chase deposits.

Also, a word of caution. If you are new to btc and dealing with any seller for the first time. I would strongly advise that you use escrow service. I recommend Benson for this service.

Also, if you need help (not only with btc.) with something PM me your number and we can have a casual chat.
P.S : I read somewhere that you are an international student. Am also a recent masters graduate from NYU.

I will be happy to vouch for americandesi as well Dumbo; if that makes a difference.
He has given no reason for doubt until date.

Good dealing with him each time. Especially cos he tips a bit extra on Escrow..  Grin

Hey Benson,

Thanks for those words and vouching for me. I always recommend everyone to use escrow when dealing on the forums. However, some of them backtrack because of the overhead fee involved in the process.

he he lol and regarding the generous tip. That is for your time, for taking extra caution and performing 2FA auth during the transaction.
And also i feel it might motivate a person like you to continue to keep offering those services.

I have used John as escrow in a number of transactions when dealing with people from other countries. He is a wonderful, funny and a very nice guy. Nothing against John but i feel he might sometimes get overwhelmed with the escrow transactions. So i try to diversify as much as possible and for that we need people like you. So whenever possible, i try and push you as a escrow but it hardly works out 9 out of 10 times.

Infact, am planning to include the escrow fee within the rates of buying / selling btc. Will get in touch with you on that shortly.

The ROI is 124 days minimum!  Probably more like 150 - 160 days ......because you cant keep it up 24/7. Unless I am missing something.

http://imgur.com/HGWMRwh

You are about right or probably it is little less. You have not put in the proper details when computing ROI.
Also note that, you can mine any other SHA-256 currency using USB BE's. It neednot be bitcoin. Even though all other bitcoins are priced based on BTC, you can still be mining using these USB's 1 year from now. So it is not always profitable to mine btc. There are other coins which are slightly more profitable than btc.

Also, why cant you keep them running 24/7..?

ASICMINER hardwares are more superior and you can run them 24/7.

I know people who are running their hardware for weeks. I have a couple myself and i don't remember switching them off last time. For me it is more of 100% uptime setup.

Guys I came down with the flu, so I might not be as quick to respond for a couple days.  Hopefully Yvonne and Kat can help!

I'll stay tuned in...
No problem. Take care of your health Dave.!

Got through the design rule check:

intron

Awesome intron.
So when can we expect this to be in market.?

With the demand for AM USB BE's increasing and supply decreasing, i think getting this project done ASAP would be wise.
352  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Gauging interest for USB Block Erupter Sales. on: August 05, 2013, 11:08:06 AM
You think these ASIC miners can mine any SHA256 cryptocurrency?

Yes. Any SHA 256 crypto can be mined using the ASICMINER USB BE's
353  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra Mining ASIC coming soon on: August 04, 2013, 09:08:22 PM
@cointerra when can we expect some details about the products? Atleast the technical details of the chips.?
354  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Custom open-air case for Bitfury's ASICs (first pics inside) on: August 04, 2013, 03:07:09 AM
Well shoot... this does look pretty cool. Are all the mounting pieces adjustable just in case the PCBs are a MM or so off?

+1. @Spotswood : Do let me know. I have 3 Aug kits about to be delivered.
Would like to be in for a couple.
Thanks

my selling offer Rs.5800/BTC

At this moment, 1 USD = 60.0100 INR (@ xoom) // 61.1 INR (@ xe.com), 1 bitcon = $104 (mtgox) / $95.53 (btc-e)

That is just their FPGA named Mars.

They have shared any videos or pics of their ASICs.

And the video they last shared was on 10/Jun/2013 and too of the Mars.

I think they don't really have a working prototype of the ASIC.

And if their FPGA draws 440W hashing at 6.2Ghs, how can they claim that their smallest ASIC, which is the Mercury will draw only 250W hashing at 100GHs?

Their ASIC is not designed by them. They have partnered with OrSoc who i have heard are the pioneers in ASIC designing in Europe.
However, 100gh/s per chip raises my eyebrow. Whatever calculation i do, i don't end up with that hash rate per chip. (FYI : I've a masters degree from NYU)

If it miraculously did hash at ~ 100 gh per chip, then think of the heat dissipated from one of those and the cooling required to maintain it the product atleast at ~ 70C
Other question that people forget to ask is the durability of the chip itself at such high heat.

Think of it, if they do hash and work only for a week, then what is the point. There are a lot of questions in my mind due to which am waiting and watching to see atleast a prototype in someone's hands.

just my 2 cents.!

660 GH/s sitting on your table

Difficulty Factor
Hash Rate (mega-hashes / second)
Exchange Rate ($/฿)

Coins   Dollars
per Day   ฿10.62   $1,119.72
per Week   ฿74.33   $7,838.06
per Month   ฿322.82   $34,039.56

Now calculate the cost of 10 port hubs and the amount of hours you would spend unwrapping and plugging each one in.   Shocked

running a 2000 stick usb farm would be a lot of work. the cheapest hub  I have found is a 7 port hub for 24 dollars it has enough power. comes with a 5v 4a wall wart that is 20 watts 7 sticks is 17.5 watts 6 sticks is 15 watts  so 6 and a fan would be 16 watts. no one is running a 290 hub 2000 stick farm.
you would need 290 hubs at 24 usd  each or 6960  usd in hubs!

I may try to run a 200 stick farm not sure.  I am running a 39 stick setup now and it is very easy to do. I know I can go to 100 no problem.

Don't you think for 80 BTC + hub cost, you will get 1 avalon from auctions sub forum.? With 200 sticks, you end up getting only 67 gh/s.
Probably buy from someone who has already received it and selling it.
I saw one for 90 btc yest.!

I dont think people were being genuinely serious about a 2000 stick farm Tongue

Am not talking about 2000 stick farm. But philipma1957 sounds serious about 200 stick farm.
Am comparing the price and gh/s with 200 stick farm.

Just to catch you all up:

Boards are in production - we've asked for daily expedited shipments as they come off the line.   These first boards go to 100TH mine, with August delivery kits to follow.  So I'll repeat that I expect August product to ship by Aug. 31st.  Fab says they can do the whole process start to finish in 20 days and we are on the last step here.

By "in production" I mean the pick and place machines have already been set up, solder masks made, PCBs for both board types were made two weeks ago.  "In production" means the actual assembling is happening.

Turns out we had a few remaining components stuck in customs - these were bits supplied by us and sent to the fab.  If you are following some of the other ASIC build threads, you may have heard about the global shortages for key components in this design.  We tackled this problem months ago in order to avoid running out of power regs and inductors.

The CC payment system is a bit of a kludge - you have to go to my storefront on Square to re-select the same product & quantity in order to get to the CC payment screen.  Its like making the same order twice.  We will reconcile these against the megabigpower.com store, which remains the primary store of orders.  We will ship from our order list on megabigpower.com, so don't go direct to Square.  I hope to be able to re-integrate CC payments using Authorize.net by next week...then the Square thing can go away.

I expect to have boards hitting racks in force by next week, I will keep you posted!

Cheers,
Dave

Thank you very much for the detailed update Dave.
Do let us know when the CC is ready so that we all can pay for the shipping.

Also, what is the origin city of the boards that will be shipped to August Kit buyers. Is it California.?
Just trying to calculate the approx transit time for each shipping method.
