341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin is the new era of currency? on: February 27, 2017, 06:32:41 AM
I wouldnt say bitcoin is the new era, but that blockchain technology is the new era of currency. A lot of organizations are interested in blockchain technology and how it works. All of us bitcoin users know the advantages of blockchain tech. And who knows, maybe a new currency which makes even better use of blockchain will pop up.

"blockchain technology" beeing just another buzzword. One that even did not catched on out there.
"All of us bitcoin users know the disadvantages of blockchain tech." Would forecast years to come will feature some kind of legacy blockchain and some more advanced following up model.

Preaching "Blockchain" takes us nowhere.
342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difference between Bitcoin and real money? on: February 27, 2017, 06:24:05 AM
Cash is a tangible asset whereas bitcoin is not, but still you can use your bitcoins to purchase things that can also be purchased by cash though in some occasions there are some contingencies needed like the use of a prepaid debit card that can be loaded by bitcoins. The huge difference that I can say is about which of which is a better investment tool, which obviously is bitcoin.
I vesting is good for bitcoin if you both last year then you are in good plus by income. But no matter what we do invest or withdraw we end with cash/fiat in our pockets.
Bitcoin is still perceived as a means for earning real money. We can not choose one or the other currency. As for me, I copes with bitcoin and Fiat. And tell me that they needed more together.

Why can't we choose? We do that everyday! Even consumers do that choice, picking gasoline at one day or pedrodollars on another, regarding tax price and consumption needs. Traders are even more volatile on that, choosing currencies depending on associated countries development perspective.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: List of Altcoin Exchanges using CloudFare #Cloudbleed on: February 26, 2017, 08:15:54 AM
All of the exchange sites are using cloudflare, Reviews their basically the data will get put in the cloudflare server. I don't think there are the exchange site are not using cloudflare right now.

Well done Cloudflare !! Roll Eyes !!!

So them are adding some additional "protection" to your site, right? Doh!

Honestly some Tor users mentioned things about Cloudflare long ago. Avoid their "service" at all cost.

345  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Inquiry on: February 24, 2017, 11:25:28 PM
Yesterday I downloaded Bitcoin core but under the wallet appears a message with a bar saying this "4 years and 14 weeks ago"
I haven't been able to use it because of the sync.
HELP PLS
I don't know what to do  Embarrassed

Starting an irrelevant poll in the beginners and help thread regarding the length of time required to sync the blockchain was definitely not the thing to do.

Yes, and no. How to tell new investors that there is some hundred megabytes of blockchain to download, before beeing capable of doing anything at all? This system cannot scale.
SPV wallets stepping up into beeing more usefull with every day.
346  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is no longer a currency on: February 24, 2017, 08:56:03 AM
...
I have to agree with them. Every week that passes without a new company in any local metropolitan area deciding to accept bitcoin as currency is a two weeks further away from bitcoin actually being adopted, mainstream, as a currency.
...

Slow progress, but proceeding. Maybe that article wasn't meant that straight into the face. Of course it's a currency, since people tend to use it like some currency! Facts fight fiction.
347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After 21M have been released, then what? on: February 23, 2017, 03:47:42 AM
Then we are done and can go home.  Cheesy

By that time the transaction fees will be significantly larger and mining will only take place for the transaction fees.

In 2013, typical fees were 0.01 BTC per block. Now, in Feb 2017, they are around 1.0 BTC per block, as much as 100x as much as they were in 2013.

We are at "Percentage of total Bitcoins mined": 77.04% and the remaining 4 millions will experience another Halving which lowers the 12 BTC reward down to 6 BTC. So 6x as of now to exspect but I am not sure if one can estimate numbers in such ways.
And if 6 BTC even can fuel the existing miner infrastructure, don't know either.
If using Bitcoin gets expensive we are loosing a serious advantage in comparison to competition out there.
348  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1139.9 resistance broken, 1142.2 hit (Bitstamp) on: February 22, 2017, 06:32:57 PM
OKCoin/China and BTC-e are still lagging behind. This time there isn't Peking in the lead.
My charts at https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/huobi/btccny are flatlining, anybody knows details why?
Do not want to see another one biting the dust just now.
349  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin prices could leap to $2000 in 2017? on: February 22, 2017, 02:45:27 AM
Holy moly it's on rocket fuel, the $2000 are reached above 55% by now. I would have assumed that payment days, usually located at month boundaries, would have an impact.
350  Economy / Economics / Re: What will happen 9th march ? on: February 22, 2017, 12:50:28 AM
Can you explain exactly what ETF is ?
ETF is exchange-traded fund in this case we are referring to - Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust COIN.
Normally ETF keeps assets such as stocks, commodities, or bonds (in this case Bitcoin) and trades them.
We all are waiting for 11 March which is the deadline for SEC, they will either give ETF stamp of approval or disapprove it (again).

I have mistaken that "whaaat? 9th march" date as if asking of dump events incoming right before the deadline. To be honest I am totally exspecting the SEC to shutdown the ETF. Would be a major leg upwards, reaching into big capital markets. They will not allow that, you can smell bribes, hookers and blackmailing working in the backgrounds.
So my expectations for the 9th are: A dump will happen. But china doesn't have anything to do with that.
351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Getting porn sites to accept bitcoin on: February 21, 2017, 04:17:43 AM
Just as gambling, then the presence of bitcoin will make more porn sites. the main reason bitcoin is the anonymous user, a porn site surely did not want to if his identity is known so that they will choose a bitcoin.
Not only that because of using bitcoin those transactions would really speed up compared on the tradition ways before and as you said the anonymity is there regarding when someone plans to purchase premium he wont expose himself already to the site which is really great for those porno lovers out there.
Guys... (assuming this isn't a girl's toppic, except from the work opportunity aspects) all these pron producers have to comply with age verification checks. To protect the teenagers from knowledge about things, until stumbling into them on their first date. It's a big conspiracy run by the adults. And it's done right, there is no fun for them kids knowing in advance. Let them find out on their own. Explore. Have fun.

But!

That means in contrary that anonymity isn't needed for pron payment channels, at all. If you have to register with passport, the payment channel no more matters afterwards.
Did you never considered?
352  Other / Archival / Re: Do you agree with idea "Bitcoin bank" ? on: February 21, 2017, 04:06:39 AM
I think it's a good idea because of the presence of bitcoin bank will make the number of users increases and make governments think to make the bitcoin as means of payment.

If one bank is ever capable of moving a single government, and that's a big if. We often do see them as living in a symbiose relationship with govs, especially whenever some To Big To Fail Institution has to get "rescued" by our taxmoneh.
I believe these institutions are overated.
And we are at the present stepping up right here, to correct that.
353  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is Coinbase.com Reliable? on: February 19, 2017, 10:50:25 AM
Poor customer service, many strict regulation, no anonymity, bad exchange rate and ask many personal info for some of their services. So, i'm sure Coinbase.com isn't reliable.
Maybe it's good for people who don't care much about privacy, don't do any suspicious activity and patient with poor customer services.

The juicy detail is about "bad exchange rate" since there goes the money. All the other complaints are just like additionals. One would assume customer closeup inspections are implemented for your security.
Seemingly not, more for subduing you into accepting bad rates either.
354  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Very RARE ! Casascius 100 BTC Bar. Unfunded on: February 19, 2017, 02:12:56 AM
Serious question, was the forum account (bitcoin420miningpools) created for the purpose of selling this 100btc bar?
hello.. no I have a solo mining pool

Thanks, I was wondering since selling such a high priced item on a new account may require you to use escrow.

I did notice on the ebay auction you have "PAYMENT BITCOIN ONLY" specified.  I wasn't aware that could be enforced and am wondering if you could provide some pointers on how you handle those transactions?

An attentive community can act as a security measure. Providing history knowledge, precise pictures, details like 118g weigth of this item.
That holo should be tamperproof.
Escrow seems advised, just how to proof the delivery process? So far there is no postal blockchain in existance.
355  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-02-17] Dutch Pirate Party: The Negative Side of Bitcoin on: February 19, 2017, 12:43:36 AM
Looks like a complete fake storty to mee , no dutch negative stopies about bitcoin ever yold by prirate party in NL!
Arrr!
I'm with cr1776 and almost everybody above, "junk article" not only shivering me timbers but makes everything rumbling deep inside. There are two things to hope for. Small reach of that publication site. Low interest on reader's side, since they are splashing something onto the tabloid like Pirate Party and Piratebay which are ... worn out by now.
356  Economy / Speculation / Re: 11th March, SEC approve or not bitcoin in ETF on: February 19, 2017, 12:35:04 AM
The current increase in price is down to speculators buying because they think the ETF might be approved. Of course they might take profits as we get nearer the decision.

It is also possible that the SEC does not make a decision but instead postpones it again, asking for further information.

As a result of that those processes do repeat, just another speculators wave to ride following up. Aren't we all happy about that?
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to change the name of bitcoin if the developers or satoshi want? on: February 18, 2017, 01:38:47 PM
Coincidence seeing another toppic "GoogleCoin and FacebookCoin" right below this thread? Be carefull this could be big corporations on attack speed approaching  Shocked

However the labelling, the brand name on a wallet software could do that, using Bitcoin below the hood but dubbing it CorpCoin or whatever.
358  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin how important to you? on: February 17, 2017, 04:36:37 PM
Very important i live now 3 years from my bitcoins.

I trade very much  Grin

You are a very different kind of brand. Vividly acting, entrepreneur trader SEO and whatsnot. But there are other kinds who aren't looking for how to get rich, but more focusing on protecting their wealthes already existing.
And for those Bitcoin is just a second leg to stand upon, next to more conservative portfolio positions. Actually a quite risky one, we can merely look back on some eight years of existence.
359  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell or wait? on: February 17, 2017, 10:25:37 AM
Good gains in between last oneandahalf day. Would be silly to miss out on that. And we are in the middle of a month, so paydays aren't even kicking in just now. More to come around the 28th (short month this february)
360  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining with pen and paper on: February 17, 2017, 10:15:39 AM
How long would it take someone to solve the calculations to mine a block if they do all calculations with pen and paper (no calculator). Pretend the difficulty is very low and find a share on their first attempt. I think this is very interesting/funny idea  Grin Grin

Search Youtube, someone already did this.

They did only 1 hash however that took about 20 minutes by hand.

Which renders it all but impossible. You only get 10 minutes on average, since that's the blocktime. Some blocks solve in lesser time, rarely they are taking more then ten (due to rising difficulty / hashrate).
