Mac=waste of money

For $9500, you can just build your own PC that is 100x better

or built a PC and install mac on it. There are tons of guides and its pretty straight as long as all the parts support mac OS which most do without any issues. When you buy a mac your paying for the logo and brand name thats the only reason they cost so much. Build a $9000 machine install mac and try to sell it on ebay no one will want it b/c it doesnt say apple anywhere on it.

yes it would make a difference to my continued investment. USBs cost less, less power consumption, they produce less heat which is means less energy used on cooling. Over the lifetime of the 15 machines(plus more that will be added) it will add up. Im not asking for brand or anything specific. Simply if the machines use USB or HDD.
344  Economy / Marketplace / Re: SkepsiDyne Integrated Node - The Bitcoin Mining Company on: July 04, 2011, 01:30:32 PM
did you try getting back to BTCguild? can you at least tell us if you use a USB or HDD?
345  Economy / Marketplace / Re: SkepsiDyne Integrated Node - The Bitcoin Mining Company on: July 02, 2011, 12:49:59 PM
Why don't you sSplit the cards between all the US btcguild servers. You need to use 1 worker Per GPU core.

I think your doing something wrong if your using $5 worth of energy a day with that one rig.
347  Economy / Marketplace / Re: SkepsiDyne Integrated Node - A Bitcoin Mining Company on: June 30, 2011, 12:55:34 AM
Five rigs are ~$950/.90 Ghash/sec
Two rigs are ~$1050/.85 Ghash/sec
Two rigs are ~$1300/.95 Ghash/sec

There are a lot of IRL companies that keep trade secrets from their shareholders.

Yeah, no wonder he wants to call it a "trade secret". He'd catch a lot of flack for building inefficient miners. There's nothing special about those builds. There are hundreds of people on this forum that could build better systems.

thanks why id like to know what the builds are. If he told us we would be able to tell him how to make it more efficient it is. Or if he took our suggestions. a base rig is pretty much the same getting the cards is the hard part.

sempron140
1000w-1200w psu (1200w isnt over kill some cards take a lot more power or he might put a dual core and 3x single core cards then  1200W would support it)
2gb usb stick
1gb RAM
mobo personally i like the MSI 890FX-GD70

then rest is just cards and how cheap you can get them.
348  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling 17-GPU Mining Cluster (Whole Cluster Only) on: June 29, 2011, 05:20:19 PM
Drop the Cases and SSDs and you might get some offers. Cases cost a lot to ship and they many people dont even use them in their builds. SSD is overkill for a mining rig and you could probably sell those pretty easily separately. Unless im missing it in the post your missing RAM!
349  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling my Mining Rig cheap! on: June 29, 2011, 05:18:31 PM
Why not use it as a PC? Except for the Ram its a gaming rig.

Update: got the first of 4 computers up tonight!  Next should arrive tomorrow.  Tried to switch over to BTCguild.com, had the same issues as last time, so I'll be looking around for a different pool to switch to tomorrow.  I'm exhausted right now, but I will be answering your posts tomorrow.

What problem did you have?
351  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Selling 140 BTC. on: June 29, 2011, 02:20:49 AM
im not saying you dont have the coins but it is not hard to doctored a screenshot. Id say the best way to prove you have the coins is to send yourself your own 140BTC and give a link to the transaction on block explorer.

354  Economy / Goods / Re: Organic Hemp Wick - Butane Lighter Alternative - Healthy and Tasty - Free Sample on: June 28, 2011, 07:43:59 PM
What's it used for? Is it like a replacement for a candle?

Obviously you wouldn't use it for cigarettes, because you have to use a lighter or match just to get it going in the first place, right?

you do use it to light a cigarette. lighter -> hemp -> cigarette.

I say we buy this mining rig http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=23039.0. Its a better buy then anything you have built so far. Its $$/Hash is better then the information on the 3 rigs you told us the stats of.
359  Economy / Marketplace / Re: SkepsiDyne Integrated Node - A Bitcoin Mining Company on: June 27, 2011, 01:11:16 PM
Agreed.

I still want to see a Finance Sheet as per that provided by UBX (but also including dates for each entry)

The Asset List shareholders appear to now be requesting would then by compilable from the Finance Sheet.

For me personally, the Asset List is a significant input to the assessment of the value of the company and hence each share (particularly mining companies) and is a key differentiator between the SIN shares and shares in mining contracts (e.g. CM400).

A link to a Google Docs spreadsheet shared on a "if you have the URL" basis rather than fully public could easily be provided to shareholders via a "mock" motion on GLBSE.

As an investor I would like to add my 2 cents.
I believe that seeing as the equipment is technically mine, I have every right to know what it is I own.

+1 google docs would be perfect to use
Tawsix ...
I think it would be beneficial to record dividend payouts on the first post in this thread, updating in the same way you are for the hash rate.
It will be very helpful in encouraging further investment / new investors.

At the current dividend payout rates, what is the return per 1 share of SIN?
That is also good to have for those who are currently invested instead of having to search through the thread. It be very beneficial too, if you bought a kilowattmeter and calculated how much energy cost. OR at least post your last energy bill before you started buying minin rigs so we could see an approximate increase in cost. From the last 2 payouts you keep some of the bitcoins for energy. You can't randomly take bitcoins out. You should only be taking coins out after your energy bill comes in.
360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Commercial? on: June 27, 2011, 03:59:33 AM
Commercials for bitcoins would be weird. Thats like having a commercial about the dollar. ""USE THE DOLLAR!!! ITS GOVERNMENT BACKED!!!!"" What would be good is commercials of companies saying that they accept bitcoins as payment.
