Uh-oh.  We're running out of Monero again....

Hey you broke ass chump moon child, can you answer this?  At this point in time why do I still have any btc?

In case of dumps, eh?  Some low-ball bids are always good in case someone decides they need a boat.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: September 20, 2016, 04:47:52 PM
Ha. So true. Start the art's paintings are already famous. We should not give him a hard time for just posting a link, especially one that promotes XMR, IMO. Thanks!

I just find that one really ugly as well as non-original, is green next? I vote purple. But art is subjective so whatever floats your boat I guess, but it should not get spammed in this thread.

Added: State if the Art what is the cost for a original 5 part custom piece that you will not make variants of and sell? I know if I bought your fist one I would not be happy about all the others that look similar. also how much to ship said piece across the pond?

Use PM please, or the marketplace thread.

Uh-oh.  We're running out of Monero again....

Try to get some by setting bids close to the markets.

I am trying, in my small and gentle way.  It helps if someone would sell, though.  Is 018 the new support, or is there another leg coming?  Either way, BAF.  Up 25% in 4 days and no signs of slowing down.  If we break 0200 it may unleash some frenzy again.  Those are always fun to watch, and usually are major repricing events.

Yeah wolfram is good stuff.  Still some race corruption on win7 x64 host, but manageable.  I should set up a mingw64 tool chain and run Dr. Memory on a head build some time when I have wider margins of liberty.
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 20, 2016, 02:27:43 PM
Sellers are exhausted, it seems.  Very likely, then, a significant repricing is imminent.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 20, 2016, 01:17:47 PM
This is bad if the price will not recover, we have already hit the 0.02 mark in the past few weeks but now we are dropping, although it has some good signs due to the recent price increase but that does not convince the majority of supporters, I hope XMR will not die and people will continue to support this.

From a somewhat longer term viewpoint, I would consider a long consolidation in the 015-200 range to be a very positive development.  I don't have any firm expectation how long this range will hold - on all evidence, probably not very long - but the longer it does last, the more bullish the future prospects will become.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 20, 2016, 01:13:28 PM
I would probably be an exemplar of the permabull type.  I have bearish short term views on occasion.  I generally refrain from posting them, because I consider that they are more likely to harm than to benefit the reader.  When such occassions arise I am cautious about acting on those views, generally remaining within a few percentage points of maximum exposure.  How much more cautious should I be about other people's risk, where their utility functions are entirely unknown to me?
349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 19, 2016, 11:59:35 PM

Monero will outlive the Euro.

Is there such a thing as physical wealth safe from lien or seizure?  I mean... short of standing an army on it?

Echo chamber here, I think - choir preaching to choir, but: I suspect it will also outlive the USD, although that is even more speculative.

A clever and well-heeled investor diversifies across jurisdictions, and depends on the a diversity of local militia/constabulary/judiciary, to amortize political risk.

Crypto is the perfect jurisdiction.  It's soldiers are miners, it's judges are fullnodes, it's laws are those of mathematics.
350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 19, 2016, 07:34:09 PM
From my point of view it doesn't really matter whether this is a breakout or not.  What matters is that eventually it will break out and level up, and I don't want to be caught wrong-footed when that happens.

Call me a moon child if you like, but at least half the sovereign debt outstanding is never going to be repaid.  When that fact gets priced in, everything will sell off massively, all counterparty, repository, and fiduciary trust relationship will be called into question.  You think you have gold because you own GLD? Hmmmph.  Physical wealth safe from lien or seizure, and crypto, are going to be at maximum premium when the bail-ins begin in earnest in Europe.  Monero is the safest of all assets in this regard.

351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 18, 2016, 10:00:01 PM
I am quite certain that significant deep state actors will use Monero.  In general, intelligence communities would prefer to control the medium, and I think zcash may play this role, but in the end they will need liquidity, and monero is the only pool of substantial anonymous liquidity.  There are diverse intelligence communities in varying interrelationships.  Most will not use a platform potentially controlled by a possible rival.  It will be in their interest to facilitate the expansion of Monero as against any upstart.  While overt political actors may gain by opposing Monero, the reins of power are more tightly held by covert actors, and they will effectively support it.

I don't particularly like this use case, any more than other criminal use cases, but it is one which will work to the political advantage of Monero, albeit very quietly, yet powerfully.

Monero might even revive Bell's assassination politics.

About .4% of the supply. And he got them super cheap, cos we're a bunch of brokeass chumps: no competition.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 16, 2016, 06:02:36 PM
really sad for xmr....i had really high expectations its still the better coin but i could imagine that alphabay will soon terminate the acceptance of xmr  Embarrassed

@aminorex

He did it right. Its only 1,8% acceptance. Of course you can make it looking better with different settings but the truth is that the acceptance is decreasing. He looked for the whole acceptance and the site doesnt limit to this number of pages. So 1.8% is correct. Everyone here can prove it by himself

This is a trilemma situation:  Malice, incompetence, or delusion.  You can't pick random numbers and use them as statistical comparables.  You have to sample by the same method for both populations.
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 16, 2016, 05:53:29 PM
[There's no need to use a page cap. The left menu shows the number of sales. You can just search for monero vendors and work out the percentage.

Stimulants:

Total sales: 23347
Monero sales: 425
= 1.82%

That's just wrong.  [Firstly, these are not sales.  These are listings.  Secondly,] you're comparing the result of a search by one process with some unknown reported number.  There's no evidence that this number is comparable, or even accurate, since it can't be mapped to actual listing.  You're comparing apples and oranges.  The page cap is imposed by the site, not by me.  To make a valid sampling you have to sample both populations the same way.  You can slice it to get under the cap (as I did with the use of trust level limits).  I don't know of any other way to sample both populations comparably.

Stimulants, level 9-10, gives 8 XMR listings and 62 BTC listings, or 13% XMR support.
Stimulants, level 7-8, gives 47 XMR listings and 103 BTC listings, or 46% XMR support.

That is a valid comparison.  Your numbers are just a units error, statistically incoherent.

The more interesting numbers would be the sales volumes.  Because if sales volume is increasing, we're golden, and it doen't matter if 13% (the lowest number in evidence) or 46% (the highest number in evidence) of the vendors are supporting XMR.'
355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 16, 2016, 04:47:04 PM
So the rationale is that the success of your XMR short from the point you entered it depends on if the amount of Stimulants accepting XMR decrease on Alpha?

I don't question the rationale, but rather the premise, the factual claim.

I checked also out Stimulants -> 23171 offers. 560 accept Monero. Its only 2,41%

today there are only 435 offers accepting Monero by 23338 offers overall. So only 1,86%

So we lost 23% acceptance.

Never one to trust blindly what can easily be verified, I did my own sampling:  43 bitcoin to 8 monero, 18.6%  (Page count, psychedelics, trust levels 4 to 5, to stay under page cap).  Maybe you slipped a decimal.

When I searched stimulants I got 29 pages of monero vendors, 50 pages of bitcoin vendors (page cap).

Last low of 0.001612 was like that.  Just kind of ran out of dump, and a couple weeks later, Pow!

Think about  it from the point of view of a large accumulator.  Do you want to scoop before the queue is full?  Do you want to scoop higher or lower?  You wait until there are no lower asks before you take what you can get while you can still get it.  You probe and tickle it down where you can, slap it down where you must, and when it just isn't going to go lower, and there is a good supply, you nab it.

Given 1/5 uptake before there is a GUI or usable multisig, I predict 50% adoption by end of 2017.  el rippo was right, and I was too pessimistic:  1 bn mcap in 15 months time.  BTC parity by 2021.  200x by 2024.

Only black markets matter for innovation, and only large accumulators matter for the long-term price.

I've been buying since 0188 and will continue.  There's about 150k XMR available cheap now.  That won't last long.  This is the biggest shake-out in history.  Since 1/2015 any how.

In other speculations, who do you think will be the next U.S. president, Kaine or Pence?

358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 16, 2016, 01:50:47 PM
starting to look like a reversal:  higher high, higher low, on the 5 minute, now confirmed on the 15 minute.

this may be our french weekend.

I don't know this idiom; french weekend.

You are expecting a rise?

Not expecting, just observing.  It's not an idiomatic expression, but rather a reference to the coverage in Le Monde.  A lot of francophones just got exposed to XMR.  Generally, after a new demographic exposure event, the week-end is strong.
