341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mine&Hold vs. Mine&Sell ? on: February 07, 2014, 07:28:54 PM
Someone can correct me if i am being too hopeful and optimistic. First off, I am not saying that all Alt coins will go up in value, but from my perspective Exchanging Altcoins->BTC can probably become its own Financial sector in the future. (It has developed quite fast)

Some of the projected Market caps for Cryptocurrencies will be around 1 Trillion around 2024, looking at some currencies right now for example: TIPS has a market cap of like 1.3-1.6million last I checked. If overtime the cryptocurrency market cap as a whole grows I imagine some of the alts we are holding now could have new caps several times their current values.

Hold for years and years.

Whoa! $1 Trillion? I need to see that analysis. That's nearly 5% of the US M2 estimate in 2024. And that's nothing to sneeze at...

Could you provide a link to that analysis? I'm very intrigued to how such a high number was obtained...

No links to any formal Analysis, this is a topic of interest I would like to read about further myself. What I discussed above were figures I read on either this site or some similar forum(purely speculative). Right now BTC is around 10b Market CAP USD, in the past year BTC's market cap has grown from several hundred million to up to about ~15billion at its peak, based on the trend of the BTC Market cap, a year from now the cap could possibly reach 30-45billion during the its next peak. As more people learn about BTC and other various crypto-currencies they will mine/invest in Alts as a way to try to make a quick BTC.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have $15,000 To invest, which Altcoin should i invest in ? on: February 07, 2014, 07:13:45 PM
Probably the only currency that is an Alt that is worth that size of an investment might be DOGE sadly. The DOGE blockchain is ready to halve its rewards which is convincing many to invest heavily now, additionally the fact that its one of the only of the few Alt currencies with an actual community of people. Additionally the Winter Olympics are going on with world wide broadcasts, any mentions of DOGE during the events they funded could reach many many more people than it normally would have.

It can easily go the exact opposite direction, but the people that are learning about, sharing and "discovering doge" are like regarding it as the next best thing. Little do they realize DOGE is a complete RIP off coin with no advancements over any other Blockchains.

10x gain probably not, I would just try to double my BTC, then do it again and again. Think about it like a dice game, you want 10x profit, the percent chance that will happen when compared to a 2x gain is way lower.

Edit: Long hold would probably look at CGB, XPM

I have no idea who arranged it but good job Wink

Damn, by the time I can change my miners it will have a 200 Difficulty again haha Sad

Yeah its pretty fucking annoying the difficulty algorithm that exists currently is not ideal. I redirected my miners out of anger last night, just being really upset to be on the same block for over 2 hours.

I also was going to get some newbs into mining last night but realized they wont even be able to get any TIPS for mining their entire night, so I had to introduce them to another coin so they can get an idea at what normally happens when mining a crypto currency. I did not want them to get discouraged by not receiving any tips for many many hours of electricity and quit before the next 5 block payouts.

Edit: I have been developing my own Difficulty algorithm that proposes a solution to the issue of Botnets/Multipools raising difficulty then leaving the real longterm miners holding the knife.
346  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox SCAM? $38million disappeared. Large sums affected. on: February 07, 2014, 05:13:32 PM
Could someone explain to me why Gox has a much higher price for BTC. Someone offered an explanation once that it was one of the only exchanges that Europe and Asia could use easily?

It was very enticing to sell my BTC on Gox and rebuy through other exchanges until I saw the monthly Withdrawal limits.

No idea how to turn off PNG image loading with Noscript. Many years ago I wrote a browser that ignored all images and only returned barely formatted text to the users command line, I wonder if I can rebuild re-use this till the exploit is patched up. (IIRC, it was message board avatars that people used which drove me crazy, to the point I would rather read the forum without any images whatsoever additionally at the time I was under a bandwidth cap.

If anyone knows of any browsers similar to the one I coded that is decent let me know.

Maybe using noscript addon will block Javascript and prevent this exploit for the time being.

Not sure if Chrome has it

I remember reading he bought doge coins with half of his money, this was around the time it was at .00000039 BTC. He might have like made 25+BTC off that doge spike.

Market cap for Fedoracoin is pretty low comparably, considering the new addition of Coin Mixing, and the difficulty fix to combat multicoin pools, reward halving, possible reduction of block payouts. I think some more people will realize that it has some worth over some of their current coin holdings and will invest in Fedoracoin increasing its market cap, right now its not even a 25th the size of DOGE's inflated marketcap which is steadily trending downward. Additionally TIPS are exchanged for LTC on some popular exchange sites (cryptsy), I imagine the addition of a new trading pair for TIPS to BTC in the future could also spur some increase in the overall BTC worth of a TIPS. I have a ~100m TIPS I will hold onto them for a long awhile.

354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which one will make us rich in 12 months? on: January 31, 2014, 04:15:30 PM
Probably pretty unpopular thought, but I think ethereum might become the most profitable altcoin in the future. In regards to the whitepaper technology that is discussed, Ethereum is one of the few currencies that is proposing solutions to problems the already overused Bitcoin protocol has when implementing new functionality (Colored Coins etc). Some of the more creative currencies coming out now have absurdly long transaction times (No SPV) and can be attributed to building under or ontop of the Bitcoin protocol.

Their are some other alt currencies I think might have value are ones testing/experimenting:
NUT - has an anti dumping mechanism built in where the imposed transaction limit of coins is 50k coins per transaction for the next 4 years. Raising overtime, this does not stop people from selling entire dat files loaded with the coins but lessens the chance people will ever dump their coin before it starts becoming scarce and the imposed transaction limits are doubled as time goes on.

Generic ones I think might do well:
DGB - I think is a bit underrated, the transactions are quick seems pretty well done
DOGE - This is pretty popular and the # of coins is high enough where many people can acquire it now so people feel "rich", especially those who might have never considered acquiring any type of currency before. Unfortunately if this currency gains more popularity I see it already gaining traction with the younger generation. Once masses understand and adapt the technology who knows what might happen

355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Ethereum is garbage and must be stopped on: January 30, 2014, 10:42:54 PM
Reading the Ethereum paper describes solutions to problems several currencies currently have or theoretically will have. From my perspective it sounds like a promising protocol, it seems like it highlights positive aspects from other Alternate currencies and tries to improve upon the downsides these currencies have primarily because they are reliant on the Bitcoin protocol and that imposes limitations when wanting to add extra functionality to the protocol. (Colored Coins, Metacoins, DAO, Contracts)

Great idea, I have been wanting to create a similar distro but also rip out most network drivers. Not that any cold storage machine should ever be plugged into a network, but in the off chance it does get connected unbeknownst to you.
