341  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: a 10% drop in hashes? on: December 27, 2014, 02:49:17 AM
We are getting to the point where profit returns are not going to bring in investor farms. Overhead is going to absorb more of your profit margin. If the price of BTC continues to go down I suspect we will see even a bigger drop.

You are wrong, Batch 1 and 2 of ant-miner S5 sold out in few days. expect a hike of 30-40% early January.

Taiwan is so small compare to china, how is it Taiwan = China?
343  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need a Reliable PSU on: December 27, 2014, 02:08:47 AM
Although power is free for you for some reason, buying a good PSU gold rated and above is important, you don't wanna fry or burn your S5 miner in less then a month.

Seasonic 760watt PSU is a good choice, you can choose either platinum grade or gold grade.
Ok I will try to go for at least silver+
Also is it good to buy a bigger PSU and then run 2 miners on it?

Edit:  e.g.  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00COIZTZM/?tag=pcpapi-20 (1300W)  OR  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K85X2AW/?tag=pcpapi-20 (650W)

You can buy 1300watt and run 2 miners with it, but I prefer 1 PSU per miner as it is cheaper and usually the psu last longer.

Note: Also I dont know if anybody have this experience but warranty for smaller PSU tends to be much faster as they have lots of stocks. And for big psu like 1300 watt and above, sometimes I have to wait like 2 months!!!
344  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can someone recommend me a good usb miner? on: December 27, 2014, 02:02:45 AM
I currently have two 32ghs r boxes and one 100ghs r box and im looking to add to my mining setup. I would prefer something that can be run via usb and is easy to setup. Power consumption dosent matter as i have free electricity.

Why not do some real mining when you have free electricity, like buying Antminer S5. I dont think you will even ROI with free electricity if you are buying USB miner.
345  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: WTS Steam account worth $1,752.57 USD on: December 26, 2014, 10:20:54 AM
Aren't there ways to retrieve your account after the sale through Steam support?

They can easily verify the real owner since you have purchased so many games with a trustworthy source e.g. credit card/paypal.

The buyer would need to verify that the sller can't retreive his account.
Seller can retrieve account. If you wanna buy, you need to ask him for main email ( include all receipt that he buy on steam ). Pretty sure, he can retrieve without email if he send ticket and provide steam wallet code...
Risky, careful when purchase steam account.

You are right, I don't think it is his plan to retrieve the account but you never know and he may change his mind and try to retrieve it.

Maybe the buyer can ask the site to confirm he will not get back access to the account to the previous owner.

The problem is, it is illegal to sell steam account, so if the website knows it then most likely a ban in account.
346  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] (Staff Only) Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: December 26, 2014, 09:14:08 AM
they will be starting the campaign most probably within a week, stunna said in the start of December that they will take one week to start the campaign. But its just taking a lifetime to start it.
I hope this campaign doesn't become something like pd3(we had to wait 7 months to see it).

There are still some bugs that have to be fixed. The campaign should be up very soon.
just an advice to stunna, until all of your bugs get sorted out, you should stop making announcements for the campaign. PD is a very reputed casino, but if you keep on breaking promises , people will stop believing you(specially noone will believe in the time limit you give).

Primedice has always make good of all promises so no one is worried about the signature campaign not being as advertised. Time limits are an other question Grin

I though time limit is very important? see what happen when BFL delay their shipment? Smiley
347  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need a Reliable PSU on: December 26, 2014, 04:11:28 AM
I am making a bitcoin (BTC) mining farm with 10 ANTMINER S5's.
https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201412...

IMPORTANT: I don't have to pay for power so efficiency doesn't matter.

Specifications
Hash Rate: 1155 GH/s ±5%
Power Consumption: 590 W (at the wall)
Power Efficiency: 0.51 J/GH (at the wall)
Rated Voltage: 12V
Dimensions: 298 mm x 137 mm x 155 mm
Cooling: 1x 12038 fan
Operating Conditions: 0 °C to 35 °C

Notes
PSU: A power supply unit is not included, and you will need to provide an ATX PSU. There are 4 PCI-e connectors for +12V DC input and all four are required. Do not connect more than one PSU to the same hashing board.

I am going to be running these 24/7

Although power is free for you for some reason, buying a good PSU gold rated and above is important, you don't wanna fry or burn your S5 miner in less then a month.

350  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The difficulty HAS BEEN REDUCED!!!! on: December 25, 2014, 02:44:05 PM
What just happened? https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty, network hashrate suddenly shot to the roof and the prediction has change from negative to positive.

Is it due to S5?
351  Economy / Economics / Re: being responsible whales on: December 25, 2014, 02:39:52 PM
But once the volatility is gone BTC will not be so interesting anymore to play with.
If someone owns 5% of something he can make it volatile by himself.

If someone owns 5% of total bitcoin wouldn't it easier to just sell slowly and not crash the market? Volatile only scare away investor.
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to best utilize GPUs was Re: What kind of GPU do you need to mine even a small amount of BTC on: December 25, 2014, 02:31:20 PM
GPU'S are out of the race for mining BTC, you need asics for that.

so how do I best utilize my gpu miners these days? I powered my rigs down a few months ago while I took a spiritual retreat. nobody has come up with a different algo for GPUs that has gained any traction?

What are you talking about? There are so many different algo that came out just recently, Lyra2 and Neoscrypt are the 2 newest.

Anyway, you can try mine x11 and x13 algo on nicehash.com or wafflepool. It seems to be the most profitable right now.
353  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What Hardware to purchase or not? on: December 25, 2014, 01:45:49 PM
Hello,

I have a little money that was given to me through inheritance (About £7500, $11,700)  and I am thinking of investing it in Bitcoin, I am wondering whether to buy bitcoin direct or buy some hardware and mine it myself, I used to mine with GPU back in the day and then moved to altcoins and I loved it, The whole feeling of just seeing your hardware working.

But I am wondering what is best. Especially with electricy costs in the UK and such.

I would appreciate any advice?

Thanks

JohnLight95

UK electricity charges is not competitive enough, you should just buy Bitcoin directly if you would like to invest crypto.
354  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Umisoo Out of Business? on: December 25, 2014, 01:40:20 PM
Umisoo fixed the problem and I am back online after a five hour outage.

That's a good news. By the way, what is the cost per Ghs at Umisoo ?

Currently its 0.000703 per ghs. Seems like a good deal?

356  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PBMining.......WTF is happening??? on: December 25, 2014, 01:27:13 PM
Pbmining said that they will come out with a solution on January. So yeah just wait for another week and you will get your answer. In the meantime, just enjoy your Christmas Smiley
357  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Next Halving in 2016 Mining consequences ? on: December 25, 2014, 05:57:42 AM
What do you think will happen in 2016 when the next halving is going to happen ?

1. Bitcoin will keep almost same price, and miners will just get half the BTC.

2. Even tho we will mine half bitcoins, bitcoin price will explode just because it's harder to mine.

Which one you belive is more probable to happen ?

2, only half as much miners dump their bitcoin now, so I expect bitcoin to rise a lot at least 50-100%.
358  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Umisoo hosting of Bitmaintech Antminers on: December 25, 2014, 05:53:47 AM
Just wait 1-2 days before panicking, its Christmas and no body is working. So its time for hacker to attack...
359  Other / Off-topic / Re: Not sure if i should go note 4 or iphone 6 on: December 24, 2014, 09:14:00 AM
Don't have a phone. If i didn't have an ipad already id def get note 4, but if i go iphone 6, it would sync with my ipad

Help me decide

Go for note 4, android is way better in-term of customization and things you can do. Iphone 6 is pretty much fixed and unless you don't use it much then iphone 6 is ok.
360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 7950 GX2 Mining possible ? on: December 24, 2014, 08:40:40 AM
The opensource miner will give you 1.2 MHASH per card I think.

Where can I find it ?

Just search for wolf0 x11 kernal and you should be able to find the right thread. It seems to consume more electricity too for using that kernal...
