Seems like the fans are doing a good job but I will take a closer look. How do Identify which is FPGA is which on the board? The heat sinks don't feel warm at all. Could it require cooling from underneath the board?
I will probably order my next x6500 without heatsinks since I will try to find my own cooling solution.

That looks really nice!
We would need to know if the mounting holes (if any) will fit any coolers in order to decide whether to order these sans heat sinks.
BTW, I am now sure my heat sinks are mounted correctly on my two x6500 but I am still getting >2% invalids on one of the FPGAs, curiously only on one of each board the one assigned 0, the other one is almost nil of invalids. Would this be a miner issue, or maybe power is not arriving evenly to both the FPGAs? The overall % of invalids averages to 1.5%

I heard gas prices in Venezuela are one of the lowest in the world (at cents per gallon) because its heavily subsidized. This mean that electricity costs are probably ridiculously low, at the very least one should be able to generate electricity cheaply with a power generator.
Imports are super cheap with the bolivar *over* valued, so hashing hardware should be much cheaper too.

The debt of the Greek government is so bad that if they default, it would completely colapse, all services suddenly cutoff probably leading to dangerous anarchy ... A short, sharp, shock is the least painful way out of Greece's mess. Anything else is just delaying the solution and storing up even bigger problems for the future. I don't agree. Sovereign debt is like a an addictive drug. A country needs to gradually wean of its debt or else it is like a shock to its system and can actually kill it. Imagine the EU as a bunch of drunkards who need to quit drinking and get back to work, Greece being the worst of them. If you suddenly cutoff the alcohol to Mr. Greece, he will go into shock and the rest of the drunks are going to panic and everything collapses. |

True, but you can easily have a currency union without political union. For example, many countries use the US dollar or peg to the US dollar. Greece could stay in the Eurozone, but the Greek government could default on its debt repayments. Of course, no-one would lend any more money to the Greek government. The government would immediately have to start spending within its means, and is that a bad thing? The debt of the Greek government is so bad that if they default, it would completely colapse, all services suddenly cutoff probably leading to dangerous anarchy if not outright revolution. So yes, now it would be a bad thing. The EU should not have allowed Greece to be so heavily indebted but they could not force them, because it is a political issue. The greek government "decided" on that. But this crisis isn't about that. This crisis is about finding ways to keep Europe chugging along without exposing the folly of exponentially-increasing government debt.

That is a very good analogy, and you are right about each country having a different personality/culture/climate/value. Southern countries for example tend to have a more relaxing culture because they don't experience the harshness of winter so much, so they don't save for difficult times. I know this perfectly because I am a dual national - Mexican-American and know both cultures very well.

It has to do with a country's government ability to loan money and spend it without its corresponding taxation. Greece outspent itself knowing it would be bailed out by the rest of EU. Germany and the other countries know this and refuse to have to extend a hand to a country who keeps on sustaining a huge lazy bureaucracy and absurd subsidies, so they force the Greek government to cut down, and of course the already lazy and freeloading population protests. Unfortunately there is no way to fix this because the Greek economy is already tied down to the EU so there is no "foreign" investment that can counterbalance the severe austerity measures imposed.
The "contagion effect" so much feared here is that all European countries are actually doing what Greece is doing to varying degrees, even Germany.

Its really disgusting what the Venezualan government is doing to their people.
The Mexican Peso suffered this type of currency control for decades. The rich, the bureacrats and the political elite simply wiped out billions of dollars out of the economy. Lopez Portillo, a president at the time during one of catastrophic the devaluations even blamed the banks and nationalized them!
If I were a venezuelan I would buy a lot of super cheap imported hashing power and mine bitcoins like crazy with the subsidized electricity (or gasoline generated electricity).

Air is blowing down.
I was surprised to see these x6500 don't warm up that much. You can try stacking them up with fans stacked up also on the side. I think the ideal solution would be side intake fan blowing downwards much like GPU cards, using a fan connector on the board (or maybe just already built in). I hope a future revision allows for this. Also a way to daisy chain the USB ports would be nice, and the power adapters to be stackable too.
I don't know about all the stats showing on the miner software, I'll appreciate if someone can point out issues.

My setup:    The fans sit on top of the stacking post quite nicely. I used one to screw the fan on it. Laptop is an old Asus 1UF, running LInux Mint Debian Edition, using a tiny SSD for even less power usage. Running at 200mhz each and they don't warm up a bit. Estimated power usage no more than 80W - pretty good for 800MH/s Any comments and criticism are welcome. |

I second the idea of having mounting holes for cooling devices on the next version of this board. There are some water blocks for chipsets such as this one that would work wonderfully I think. |

I am interested in trying out these boards but I noticed the ones with heat sinks are sold out. Any suggestions on how to get these heatsinks separately? It would be cool if these boards had the holes for mounting chipset cooling systems like the ones the LX-150 board has ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=45532). That way I might even try a water cooling system chaining the blocks of several X6500 boards to a pump. |

I am getting sporadic (about 1 out of 15 blocks) errors:
ERROR: Cannot connect to pool.ABCPool.co: Bitcoin disconnected during response: 200 ok
I am directly connected to high bandwidth internet using DiabloMiner. What could be wrong?

Pardon my newbie question (I did search).
How do I enable my second Radeon HD6950? I am running DiabloMiner fine with Cayman (#1) running at 312 MHash, but I can clearly tell the second card is not running at all as it is cold.
Linux x64.
Thats not strictly a DiabloMiner question. To mine with multiple cards under any miner under Linux, you must turn off Crossfire. Merely unplugging the bridge does not disable it, you must, as root, run aticonfig --initial -f --adapter=all and then restart X.This will disable Crossfire and make every card individually addressable by all applications. Thanks, both cards running now. |
